Deuteronomy 22
1 Thou shalt not see the ox of thy brother or his sheep, going astray, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, bring them back unto thy brother.
Si tu vois le bœuf de ton frère, ou son mouton, égarés, tu ne te cacheras pas de devant eux: tu ne manqueras pas de les ramener à ton frère.
2 And, if thy brother be not nigh unto thee or thou know him not, then shalt thou make room for it within thee own shed and it shall be with thee, until thy brother seek after it, when thou shalt return it unto him.
Et si ton frère n’est pas près de toi, ou que tu ne le connaisses pas, tu mèneras la bête dans ta maison; et elle sera chez toi jusqu’à ce que ton frère la cherche, alors tu la lui rendras.
3 And, so, shalt thou do with his ass, and, so, shalt thou do with his mantle and, so, shalt thou do with any lost thing of thy brother’s, which shall go astray from him and thou shalt find, —thou mayest not turn away.
Et tu feras de même pour son âne, et tu feras de même pour son vêtement, et tu feras de même pour tout objet perdu que ton frère aura perdu et que tu auras trouvé: tu ne pourras pas te cacher.
4 Thou shalt not see the ass of thy brother or his ox fallen in the way, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, raise, them with him.
Si tu vois l’âne de ton frère, ou son bœuf, tombés sur le chemin, tu ne te cacheras pas de devant eux: tu ne manqueras pas de les relever avec lui.
5 A woman shall not have on the wearing apparel of a man, nor shall a man put on the mantle of a woman; for an abomination to Yahweh thy God, is any one who doeth these things.
La femme ne portera pas un habit d’homme, et l’homme ne se vêtira pas d’un vêtement de femme; car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à l’Éternel, ton Dieu.
6 When a bird’s-nest chanceth to be before thee, —in the way, in any tree or upon the ground, whether with nestlings or eggs, and, the mother, be sitting upon the nestlings or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the mother upon the young;
Si tu rencontres devant toi dans le chemin, sur quelque arbre ou sur la terre, un nid d’oiseau avec des petits ou des œufs, et que la mère soit assise sur les petits ou sur les œufs, tu ne prendras pas la mère avec les petits;
7 thou shalt, let go, the mother, and then, her young, mayest thou take for thyself, —that it may go well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
tu ne manqueras pas de laisser aller la mère, et tu prendras les petits pour toi; afin que tu prospères et que tu prolonges tes jours.
8 When thou buildest a new house, then shalt thou make a parapet to thy roof, so shalt thou not treasure up blood-guiltiness against thy house, for he that is in danger of falling might fall therefrom.
Si tu bâtis une maison neuve, tu feras un parapet à ton toit, afin que tu ne mettes pas du sang sur ta maison, si quelqu’un venait à en tomber.
9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two sorts of seed, —lest the fulness of the seed which thou sowest, and the increase of thy vineyard be profaned.
Tu ne sèmeras pas ta vigne de deux espèces [de semence], de peur que la totalité de la semence que tu as semée et le rapport de ta vigne ne soient sanctifiés.
10 Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together,
– Tu ne laboureras pas avec un bœuf et un âne [attelés] ensemble.
11 Thou shalt not put on linsey-woolsey, of wool and flax together.
– Tu ne te vêtiras pas d’une étoffe mélangée, de laine et de lin [tissés] ensemble.
12 Tassels, shalt thou make thee, —on the four corners of thy vesture, wherewith thou dost cover thyself.
Tu te feras des houppes aux quatre coins de ton vêtement, dont tu te couvres.
13 When a man taketh a wife, —and goeth in unto her and hateth her;
Si un homme a pris une femme, et est allé vers elle, et qu’il la haïsse,
14 and raiseth against her occasions of speech, and bringeth upon her an evil name, and saith—This woman, I took, and approached her, and found not that she had the tokens of virginity,
et lui impute des actes qui donnent occasion de parler, et fasse courir sur elle quelque mauvais bruit, et dise: J’ai pris cette femme, et je me suis approché d’elle, et je ne l’ai pas trouvée vierge:
15 then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the virginity of the damsel, unto the elders of the city, in the gate;
alors le père de la jeune femme, et sa mère, prendront les signes de la virginité de la jeune femme et les produiront devant les anciens de la ville, à la porte;
16 and the father of the damsel shall say unto the elders, —My daughter, gave I unto this man to wife and he hated her;
et le père de la jeune femme dira aux anciens: J’ai donné ma fille pour femme à cet homme, et il la hait;
17 and lo! he, hath raised occasions of speech, saying—I found not that thy daughter had the tokens of virginity and yet, these, are the tokens of the virginity of my daughter. And they shall spread out the garment before the elders of the city.
et voici, il lui impute des actes qui donnent occasion de parler, disant: Je n’ai pas trouvé ta fille vierge; et voici les signes de la virginité de ma fille. Et ils déploieront le drap devant les anciens de la ville.
18 Then shall the elders of that city take the man, and chastise him;
Et les anciens de cette ville prendront l’homme et le châtieront.
19 and fine him a hundred [shekels] of silver and give unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel, and she shall remain his wife, he may not put her away, all his days.
Et parce qu’il aura fait courir un mauvais bruit sur une vierge d’Israël, ils lui feront payer une amende de 100 pièces d’argent, et ils les donneront au père de la jeune femme; et elle restera sa femme, et il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tous ses jours.
20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found with the damsel,
– Mais si cette chose est vraie, si les signes de la virginité n’ont pas été trouvés chez la jeune femme,
21 then shall they bring forth the damsel into the entrance of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die, because she hath wrought wickedness in Israel, by committing unchastity in her father’s house, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
alors ils feront sortir la jeune femme à l’entrée de la maison de son père, et les hommes de sa ville l’assommeront de pierres, et elle mourra; car elle a commis une infamie en Israël, en se prostituant dans la maison de son père; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
22 When a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then shall, both, of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman, so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of Israel.
Si un homme a été trouvé couché avec une femme mariée, ils mourront tous deux, l’homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme; et tu ôteras le mal [du milieu] d’Israël.
23 When a damsel that is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, —and a man findeth her in the city, and lieth with her,
– Si une jeune fille vierge est fiancée à un homme, et qu’un homme la trouve dans la ville et couche avec elle,
24 then shall ye bring them, both, out unto the gate of that city, and stone them with stones that they die, the damsel, because she made not an outcry in the city, and the man because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
vous les ferez sortir tous les deux à la porte de cette ville, et vous les assommerez de pierres, et ils mourront: la jeune fille, parce que, étant dans la ville, elle n’a pas crié, et l’homme, parce qu’il a humilié la femme de son prochain; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
25 But if in the field, the man find the betrothed damsel and the man force her and lie with her, then shall the man that lay with her die he alone;
Et si c’est dans les champs, que l’homme a trouvé la jeune fille fiancée, et que, lui faisant violence, il couche avec elle, alors l’homme qui aura couché avec elle mourra, lui seul;
26 but, unto the damsel, shalt thou do nothing, the damsel, is not guilty of a sin worthy of death, for as when a man riseth up against his neighbour, and smiteth him so as to take away life, so, is this matter;
et tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille: il n’y a pas de péché digne de mort sur la jeune fille; car c’est comme si quelqu’un s’élevait contre son prochain et le tuait: ainsi est ce cas;
27 for in the field, he found her, —the betrothed damsel, made an outcry, and there was none to save her.
car il l’a trouvée dans les champs, la jeune fille fiancée a crié, et il n’y a eu personne pour la sauver.
28 When a man findeth a damsel that is a virgin who is not betrothed, and layeth hold of her and lieth with her, and they are found,
Si un homme trouve une jeune fille vierge qui n’est pas fiancée, et qu’il la saisisse et couche avec elle, et qu’ils soient trouvés,
29 then shall the man who lay with her give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, —and she shall be, his, wife, because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away, all his days.
l’homme qui aura couché avec elle donnera au père de la jeune fille 50 pièces d’argent, et elle sera sa femme, puisqu’ il l’a humiliée; il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tous ses jours.
30 A man shall not take his father’s wife, —neither shall he turn aside his father’s coverlet.
Un homme ne prendra pas la femme de son père, et ne relèvera pas le pan du vêtement de son père.
