Deuteronomy 22
1 Thou shalt not see the ox of thy brother or his sheep, going astray, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, bring them back unto thy brother.
"Jos näet veljesi härän tai lampaan eksyneen, älä jätä sitä siihen; vie se takaisin veljellesi.
2 And, if thy brother be not nigh unto thee or thou know him not, then shalt thou make room for it within thee own shed and it shall be with thee, until thy brother seek after it, when thou shalt return it unto him.
Jos veljesi ei asu sinua lähellä tai jos et tiedä, kuka hän on, niin korjaa eksynyt taloosi, ja olkoon se sinun huostassasi, kunnes veljesi tiedustelee sitä; anna se silloin hänelle takaisin.
3 And, so, shalt thou do with his ass, and, so, shalt thou do with his mantle and, so, shalt thou do with any lost thing of thy brother’s, which shall go astray from him and thou shalt find, —thou mayest not turn away.
Tee samoin, jos veljeltäsi on kadonnut aasi, samoin, jos vaate, samoin, jos mitä muuta hyvänsä, jonka löydät; älä jätä sitä siihen.
4 Thou shalt not see the ass of thy brother or his ox fallen in the way, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, raise, them with him.
Jos näet veljesi aasin tai härän kaatuneen tielle, älä jätä sitä siihen; auta häntä nostamaan se jaloilleen.
5 A woman shall not have on the wearing apparel of a man, nor shall a man put on the mantle of a woman; for an abomination to Yahweh thy God, is any one who doeth these things.
Nainen älköön käyttäkö miehen tamineita, älköönkä mies pukeutuko naisen vaatteisiin; sillä jokainen, joka niin tekee, on kauhistus Herralle, sinun Jumalallesi.
6 When a bird’s-nest chanceth to be before thee, —in the way, in any tree or upon the ground, whether with nestlings or eggs, and, the mother, be sitting upon the nestlings or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the mother upon the young;
Jos kulkiessasi tapaat puusta tai maasta linnun pesän, jossa on pojat tai munat ja emo makaamassa poikien tai munien päällä, niin älä ota emoa poikineen,
7 thou shalt, let go, the mother, and then, her young, mayest thou take for thyself, —that it may go well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
vaan päästä emo lentämään ja ota vain pojat, että menestyisit ja kauan eläisit.
8 When thou buildest a new house, then shalt thou make a parapet to thy roof, so shalt thou not treasure up blood-guiltiness against thy house, for he that is in danger of falling might fall therefrom.
Kun rakennat uuden talon, tee kaide kattosi ympärille, ettet saattaisi verenvikaa taloosi, jos joku sieltä putoaisi.
9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two sorts of seed, —lest the fulness of the seed which thou sowest, and the increase of thy vineyard be profaned.
Älä kylvä viinitarhaasi kahdenlaista siementä, muutoin kaikki, mitä siinä on, sekä siemen, jonka kylvit, että viinitarhan sato, on oleva pyhäkölle pyhitetty.
10 Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together,
Älä kynnä yhtaikaa härällä ja aasilla.
11 Thou shalt not put on linsey-woolsey, of wool and flax together.
Älä pue yllesi vaatetta, joka on kudottu kahdenlaisista langoista, villaisista ja pellavaisista sekaisin.
12 Tassels, shalt thou make thee, —on the four corners of thy vesture, wherewith thou dost cover thyself.
Tee itsellesi tupsut viittasi neljään kulmaan, johon verhoudut.
13 When a man taketh a wife, —and goeth in unto her and hateth her;
Jos joku on ottanut vaimon ja yhtynyt häneen, mutta sitten hylkii häntä
14 and raiseth against her occasions of speech, and bringeth upon her an evil name, and saith—This woman, I took, and approached her, and found not that she had the tokens of virginity,
ja esittää häntä vastaan perättömiä syytöksiä ja saattaa hänet pahaan maineeseen ja sanoo: 'Minä otin tämän naisen vaimokseni, mutta kun ryhdyin häneen, en tavannut hänessä neitsyyden merkkiä',
15 then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the virginity of the damsel, unto the elders of the city, in the gate;
niin tytön isä ja äiti ottakoot ja tuokoot tytön neitsyyden merkin kaupungin vanhimmille, porttiin.
16 and the father of the damsel shall say unto the elders, —My daughter, gave I unto this man to wife and he hated her;
Ja tytön isä sanokoon vanhimmille: 'Minä annoin tyttäreni vaimoksi tälle miehelle, mutta hän hylkii häntä.
17 and lo! he, hath raised occasions of speech, saying—I found not that thy daughter had the tokens of virginity and yet, these, are the tokens of the virginity of my daughter. And they shall spread out the garment before the elders of the city.
Ja katso, hän esittää häntä vastaan perättömiä syytöksiä sanoen: Minä en tavannut tyttäressäsi neitsyyden merkkiä. Mutta tässä on tyttäreni neitsyyden merkki.' Ja he levittäkööt vaatteen kaupungin vanhinten eteen.
18 Then shall the elders of that city take the man, and chastise him;
Silloin kaupungin vanhimmat ottakoot sen miehen ja kurittakoot häntä. Ja he määrätkööt hänelle sakkoa sata hopeasekeliä annettavaksi tytön isälle, sentähden että hän saattoi Israelin neitsyen pahaan maineeseen.
19 and fine him a hundred [shekels] of silver and give unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel, and she shall remain his wife, he may not put her away, all his days.
Ja hän olkoon hänen vaimonsa; hän älköön hyljätkö häntä koko elinaikanansa.
20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found with the damsel,
Mutta jos syytös on tosi, jos tytössä ei tavattu neitsyyden merkkiä,
21 then shall they bring forth the damsel into the entrance of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die, because she hath wrought wickedness in Israel, by committing unchastity in her father’s house, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
silloin vietäköön tyttö isänsä talon ovelle, ja kaupungin miehet kivittäkööt hänet kuoliaaksi, koska hän teki häpeällisen teon Israelissa, harjoittaen haureutta isänsä kodissa. Poista paha keskuudestasi.
22 When a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then shall, both, of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman, so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of Israel.
Jos joku tavataan makaamasta naisen kanssa, joka on toisen miehen aviovaimo, niin kuolkoot molemmat, sekä mies, joka makasi vaimon kanssa, että vaimo. Poista paha Israelista.
23 When a damsel that is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, —and a man findeth her in the city, and lieth with her,
Jos joku neitsyt on kihloissa miehen kanssa ja toinen tapaa hänet kaupungissa ja makaa hänen kanssaan,
24 then shall ye bring them, both, out unto the gate of that city, and stone them with stones that they die, the damsel, because she made not an outcry in the city, and the man because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
niin viekää molemmat sen kaupungin portille ja kivittäkää heidät kuoliaaksi, tyttö siksi, että hän ei huutanut apua kaupungissa, ja mies siksi, että hän teki väkivaltaa lähimmäisensä morsiamelle. Poista paha keskuudestasi.
25 But if in the field, the man find the betrothed damsel and the man force her and lie with her, then shall the man that lay with her die he alone;
Mutta jos mies tapaa kihlatun tytön kedolla, käy häneen käsiksi ja makaa hänen kanssaan, niin mies, joka makasi hänen kanssaan, kuolkoon yksin.
26 but, unto the damsel, shalt thou do nothing, the damsel, is not guilty of a sin worthy of death, for as when a man riseth up against his neighbour, and smiteth him so as to take away life, so, is this matter;
Mutta tytölle älä tee mitään, sillä tyttö ei ole tehnyt kuoleman rikosta; tässä on samanlainen tapaus, kuin jos mies karkaa toisen kimppuun ja tappaa hänet.
27 for in the field, he found her, —the betrothed damsel, made an outcry, and there was none to save her.
Sillä hän tapasi hänet kedolla; kihlattu tyttö huusi, mutta hänellä ei ollut auttajaa.
28 When a man findeth a damsel that is a virgin who is not betrothed, and layeth hold of her and lieth with her, and they are found,
Jos joku tapaa neitsyen, joka ei ole kihlattu, ja ottaa hänet kiinni ja makaa hänen kanssaan ja heidät siitä tavataan,
29 then shall the man who lay with her give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, —and she shall be, his, wife, because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away, all his days.
niin mies, joka makasi hänen kanssaan, antakoon tytön isälle viisikymmentä hopeasekeliä, ja tyttö tulkoon hänen vaimokseen, koska hän raiskasi hänet; hän älköön hyljätkö häntä koko elinaikanansa.
30 A man shall not take his father’s wife, —neither shall he turn aside his father’s coverlet.
Älköön kukaan ottako vaimoksi äitipuoltaan älköönkä nostako isänsä peitettä."
