Deuteronomy 2
1 Then turned we, and set forward towards the desert by way of the Red Sea, as Yahweh, spake unto me; and we encompassed Mount Seir many days.
Luego regresamos, viajando hacia el desierto por el camino hacia el Mar Rojo, como el Señor me había dicho: y estuvimos mucho tiempo rodeando el Monte Seir.
2 And Yahweh spake unto me, saying:
Y el Señor me dijo:
3 Long enough, have ye encompassed this mountain, —turn yourselves north, wards.
Han estado viajando por esta montaña el tiempo suficiente: ahora vayan al norte;
4 And, the people, command thou saying, Ye are about to pass through the boundary of your brethren the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —and should they be afraid of you, take ye good heed to yourselves:
Y da órdenes a la gente, diciendo: Están a punto de recorrer la tierra de sus hermanos, los hijos de Esaú, que viven en Seir; y ellos les temen a ustedes; así que tengan mucho cuidado;
5 do not engage in strife with them, for I will not give you of their land, so much as place for the tread of a foot-sole, —for as a possession to Esau, have I given Mount Seir.
No hagan ataques contra ellos, porque no les daré nada de su tierra, ni siquiera espacio suficiente para el pie de un hombre; porque le he dado el monte Seir a Esaú por su herencia.
6 Food, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye eat, —yea even water, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye drink.
Pueden comprar alimentos para sus necesidades y agua para beber.
7 For Yahweh thy God, hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand, he hath considered thy traversing of this great desert, —these forty years, hath Yahweh thy God been with thee, thou hast lacked, nothing.
Porque la bendición del Señor su Dios ha estado sobre ustedes en toda la obra de sus manos: él tiene conocimiento de tu peregrinación a través de este gran desierto: estos cuarenta años el Señor su Dios ha estado con ustedes, y nada les ha faltado.
8 So we passed on, a way from our brethren the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir, from the way of the waste plain, from Elath, and from Ezion-geber, —and we turned and passed on by way of the desert of Moab.
Así que pasamos por nuestros hermanos, los hijos de Esaú, que vivían en Seir, por el camino a través de Arabá, desde Elat y Ezión-geber. Y girando, pasamos por el camino a través del desierto de Moab.
9 And Yahweh said unto me—Do not lay siege to Moab, nor engage in strife with them in battle, —for I will not give unto thee of this land as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given Ar, as a possession.
Y el Señor me dijo: No hagas ataques contra Moab y no vayas a la guerra con ellos, porque no te daré nada de su tierra: porque he dado Ar a los hijos de Lot por su herencia.
10 the Emim, formerly dwelt therein, —a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim.
En el pasado, los Emim vivían allí; un gran pueblo, igual en número y altos como los hijos de Anac;
11 Giants, used, they also, to be accounted like the Anakim, —but the Moabites, called them Emim.
Están numerados entre los Refaim, como los hijos de Anac; pero son nombrados Emim por los moabitas.
12 And in Seir, dwelt the Horim aforetime, but, the sons of Esau, dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, —as did Israel unto the land of his own possession, which Yahweh had given unto them.
Y los Horitas en tiempos anteriores vivían en Seir, pero los hijos de Esaú tomaron su lugar; enviaron destrucción sobre ellos y tomaron su tierra para sí mismos, como hizo Israel a la tierra de su herencia que el Señor les dio.
13 Now, arise, and pass ye over the ravine of Zered. So we passed over the ravine of Zered.
Levántense ahora, y vayan sobre él arroyo Zered. Así que nos fuimos a la corriente de Zered.
14 Now, the days in which we journeyed from Kadesh-barnea, as far as where we crossed the ravine of Zered, were thirty-eight years, —until all the generation of the men of war were consumed out of the midst of the camp, as Yahweh had sworn unto them.
Treinta y ocho años habían pasado desde el momento en que salimos de Cades-barnea hasta que cruzamos el arroyo Zered; Para entonces, toda la generación de hombres de guerra entre nosotros había muerto, como el Señor había dicho.
15 Yea, even the hand of Yahweh was against them, to destroy them out of the midst of the camp, —until they were consumed.
Porque la mano del Señor estaba contra ellos, obrando su destrucción, hasta que todos murieron.
16 So it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed by dying, out of the midst of the people,
Entonces, cuando la muerte había sobrepasado a todos los hombres de guerra entre la gente,
17 then spake Yahweh unto me, saying:
La palabra del Señor vino a mí, diciendo:
18 Thou, art passing, to-day, the boundary of Moab even Ar;
Estás a punto de pasar por Ar, el límite del país de Moab;
19 so wilt thou draw near over against the sons of Ammon, do not thou besiege them neither engage in strife with them, —for I will not give of the land of the sons of Ammon unto thee as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given it as a possession.
Y cuando te acerques a la tierra de los hijos de Amón, no les des problemas y no les hagas la guerra, porque no te daré nada de la tierra de los hijos de Amón por tu herencia: porque se lo he dado a los hijos de lot.
20 A land of giants, used, that also, to be accounted, —giants, dwelt therein aforetime, but the Ammonites, called them Zamzummim:
Se dice que esa tierra era una tierra de los Refaim, porque Refaim había estado viviendo allí en tiempos anteriores, pero los amonitas los llamaban Zomzomeos;
21 a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim, —but Yahweh destroyed them from before them, and they took their possessions, and dwelt in their stead:
Eran un gran pueblo, numeroso y alto como los hijos Anac, igual a ellos en número; pero el Señor envió destrucción sobre ellos y los hijos de Amón tomaron su lugar, viviendo en su tierra;
22 as he did for the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —when he destroyed the Horim from before them, and they took their possessions and have dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
Como hizo con los hijos de Esaú que viven en Seir, cuando envió destrucción sobre los horitas antes que ellos, y tomaron su tierra donde viven hasta el día de hoy:
23 The Avvim also, who dwelt in settlements as far as Gaza, Caphtorim, who were coming forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
Y los Aveos, que vivían en las pequeñas ciudades hasta Gaza, fueron destruidos por las manos de los Caftoreos que salieron de Caftor y tomaron sus tierras.
24 Arise ye, set forward and cross over the ravine of Arnon, see! I have given into thy hand—Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite and his land, begin—take possession, —and engage in strife with him in battle.
Levántate ahora, y continúen su viaje, cruzando el valle del Arnón: mira, he entregado en sus manos a Sehón, el amorreo, rey de Hesbón, y toda su tierra: avanza para poseer la tierra, y le harás la guerra,
25 This day, will I begin to extend the dread of thee and the fear of thee over the face of the peoples under all the heavens, —who will hear the report of thee, then will they quake and writhe in pain because of thee.
De ahora en adelante, pondré tu temor en todos los pueblos bajo el cielo, quienes, al escucharte, temblarán de miedo y se angustiarán por tu causa.
26 So I sent messengers out of the desert of Kademoth, unto Sihon, king of Heshbon, —with words of peace saying:
Luego, desde el desierto de Cademot, envié representantes a Sehón, rey de Hesbón, con palabras de paz, diciendo:
27 I would pass along through thy land, by the road, by the road, will I go, —I will not turn aside, to the right hand or to the left:
Déjame recorrer tu tierra: me mantendré en la carretera, sin girar a la derecha ni a la izquierda;
28 Food for silver, shalt thou sell me so will I eat, and water for silver, shalt thou let me have, so will I drink, —only I would pass through on my feet; —
Déjame comprar comida, para mis necesidades, y agua para beber: solo déjame pasar a pie;
29 as the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, did to me, and the Moabites who are dwelling in Ar, —until that I pass over the Jordan, into the land which, Yahweh our God, is giving unto us.
Como lo hicieron los hijos de Esaú por mí en Seir y los moabitas en Ar; hasta que haya pasado el Jordán a la tierra que el Señor nuestro Dios nos está dando.
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon, was not willing, to let us pass along through it, —for Yahweh thy God had suffered him to make his spirit harsh and his heart bold, that he might give him into thy hand—(as [appeareth] this day).
Pero Sehón, rey de Hesbón, no nos dejaría pasar; porque Él Señor su Dios endureció su espíritu y su corazón, para que lo entregue en sus manos como en este día.
31 Then said Yahweh unto me, See! I have begun to deliver up before thee Sihon and his land, —begin take possession, that thou mayest make a possession of his land.
Y el Señor me dijo: Mira, desde ahora he entregado a Sehón y su tierra en sus manos; avanza ahora para tomar su tierra como herencia.
32 So then Sihon came out to meet us he, and all his people, to give battle at Jahaz.
Y salió Sehón contra nosotros con todo su pueblo, para atacarnos en Jahaza.
33 And Yahweh our God delivered him up before us, —and we smote him and his sons, and all his people
Y Él Señor nuestro Dios lo entregó en nuestras manos; y vencimos a él, a sus hijos y a toda su gente.
34 And we captured all his cities, at that time, and devoted to destruction every city of males, with the women and the little ones, —we left not remaining a survivor:
En ese momento tomamos todos sus pueblos y los entregamos a la destrucción completa, junto con hombres, mujeres y niños; no dejamos a ninguno con vida.
35 only the cattle, made we our prey, —and the spoil of the cities which we captured.
Solo el ganado tomamos para nosotros, con los bienes de los pueblos que habíamos tomado.
36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the ravine of Arnon and the city that is in the ravine even as far as Gilead, there was not a fortress that proved too high for us, —the whole, did Yahweh our God deliver up before us.
Desde Aroer en el borde del valle del Arnón y desde la ciudad en el valle hasta Galaad, ninguna ciudad era lo suficientemente fuerte como para mantenernos fuera; El Señor nuestro Dios los dio a todos en nuestras manos.
37 Only unto the land of the sons of Ammon, didst thou not come near, —all the side of the Jabbok ravine, nor the cities of the hill country, nor any which Yahweh our God had forbidden to us.
Pero no te acercaste a la tierra de los hijos de Amón, es decir, a todo el lado del río Jaboc ni a los pueblos de la región montañosa, donde el Señor nuestro Dios había dicho que no atacáramos.
