Deuteronomy 2

1 Then turned we, and set forward towards the desert by way of the Red Sea, as Yahweh, spake unto me; and we encompassed Mount Seir many days.

۱ پس برگشته، چنانکه خداوند به من گفته بود، از راه بحرقلزم در بیابان کوچ کردیم وروزهای بسیار کوه سعیر را دور زدیم.

2 And Yahweh spake unto me, saying:

۲ پس خداوند مرا خطاب کرده، گفت:

3 Long enough, have ye encompassed this mountain, —turn yourselves north, wards.

۳ «دور زدن شمابه این کوه بس است، بسوی شمال برگردید.

4 And, the people, command thou saying, Ye are about to pass through the boundary of your brethren the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —and should they be afraid of you, take ye good heed to yourselves:

۴ وقوم را امر فرموده، بگو که شما از حدود برادران خود بنی عیسو که در سعیر ساکنند باید بگذرید، و ایشان از شما خواهند ترسید، پس بسیاراحتیاط کنید.

5 do not engage in strife with them, for I will not give you of their land, so much as place for the tread of a foot-sole, —for as a possession to Esau, have I given Mount Seir.

۵ و با ایشان منازعه مکنید، زیرا که از زمین ایشان بقدر کف پایی هم به شما نخواهم داد، چونکه کوه سعیر را به عیسو به ملکیت داده‌ام.

6 Food, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye eat, —yea even water, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye drink.

۶ خوراک را از ایشان به نقره خریده، بخورید و آب را نیز از ایشان به نقره خریده، بنوشید.»

7 For Yahweh thy God, hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand, he hath considered thy traversing of this great desert, —these forty years, hath Yahweh thy God been with thee, thou hast lacked, nothing.

۷ زیرا که یهوه خدای تو، تو را در همه کارهای دستت برکت داده است، او راه رفتنت رادر این بیابان بزرگ می‌داند، الان چهل سال است که یهوه خدایت با تو بوده است و به هیچ‌چیزمحتاج نشده‌ای.

8 So we passed on, a way from our brethren the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir, from the way of the waste plain, from Elath, and from Ezion-geber, —and we turned and passed on by way of the desert of Moab.

۸ پس از برادران خود بنی عیسوکه در سعیر ساکنند، از راه عربه از ایلت و عصیون جابر عبور نمودیم.

9 And Yahweh said unto me—Do not lay siege to Moab, nor engage in strife with them in battle, —for I will not give unto thee of this land as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given Ar, as a possession.

۹ پس برگشته، از راه بیابان موآب گذشتیم، وخداوند مرا گفت: «موآب را اذیت مرسان و باایشان منازعت و جنگ منما، زیرا که از زمین ایشان هیچ نصیبی به شما نخواهم داد، چونکه عاررا به بنی لوط برای ملکیت داده‌ام.»

10 the Emim, formerly dwelt therein, —a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim.

۱۰ ایمیان که قوم عظیم و کثیر و بلند قد مثل عناقیان بودند، پیش در آنجا سکونت داشتند.

11 Giants, used, they also, to be accounted like the Anakim, —but the Moabites, called them Emim.

۱۱ ایشان نیز مثل عناقیان از رفائیان محسوب بودند، لیکن موآبیان ایشان را ایمیان می‌خوانند.

12 And in Seir, dwelt the Horim aforetime, but, the sons of Esau, dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, —as did Israel unto the land of his own possession, which Yahweh had given unto them.

۱۲ و حوریان در سعیرپیشتر ساکن بودند، و بنی عیسو ایشان را اخراج نموده، ایشان را از پیش روی خود هلاک ساختند، و در جای ایشان ساکن شدند، چنانکه اسرائیل به زمین میراث خود که خداوند به ایشان داده بود، کردند.

13 Now, arise, and pass ye over the ravine of Zered. So we passed over the ravine of Zered.

۱۳ الان برخیزید و از وادی زاردعبور نمایید. پس از وادی زارد عبور نمودیم.

14 Now, the days in which we journeyed from Kadesh-barnea, as far as where we crossed the ravine of Zered, were thirty-eight years, —until all the generation of the men of war were consumed out of the midst of the camp, as Yahweh had sworn unto them.

۱۴ وایامی که از قادش برنیع راه می‌رفتیم تا از وادی زارد عبور نمودیم سی و هشت سال بود، تاتمامی آن طبقه مردان جنگی از میان اردو تمام شدند، چنانکه خداوند برای ایشان قسم خورده بود.

15 Yea, even the hand of Yahweh was against them, to destroy them out of the midst of the camp, —until they were consumed.

۱۵ و دست خداوند نیز بر ایشان می‌بود تاایشان را از میان اردو بالکل هلاک کند.

16 So it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed by dying, out of the midst of the people,

۱۶ پس چون جمیع مردان جنگی از میان قوم بالکل مردند،

17 then spake Yahweh unto me, saying:

۱۷ آنگاه خداوند مرا خطاب کرده، گفت:

18 Thou, art passing, to-day, the boundary of Moab even Ar;

۱۸ «تو امروز از عار که سرحد موآب باشد، باید بگذری.

19 so wilt thou draw near over against the sons of Ammon, do not thou besiege them neither engage in strife with them, —for I will not give of the land of the sons of Ammon unto thee as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given it as a possession.

۱۹ و چون به مقابل بنی عمون برسی ایشان را مرنجان و با ایشان منازعه مکن، زیرا که اززمین بنی عمون نصیبی به تو نخواهم داد چونکه آن را به بنی لوط به ملکیت داده‌ام.

20 A land of giants, used, that also, to be accounted, —giants, dwelt therein aforetime, but the Ammonites, called them Zamzummim:

۲۰ (آن نیز زمین رفائیان شمرده می‌شود و رفائیان پیشتر ساکن آنجا بودند، لیکن عمونیان ایشان را زمزمیان می‌خوانند.

21 a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim, —but Yahweh destroyed them from before them, and they took their possessions, and dwelt in their stead:

۲۱ ایشان قومی عظیم و کثیر و بلند قدمثل عناقیان بودند، و خداوند آنها را از پیش روی ایشان هلاک کرد، پس ایشان را اخراج نموده، درجای ایشان ساکن شدند.

22 as he did for the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —when he destroyed the Horim from before them, and they took their possessions and have dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.

۲۲ چنانکه برای بنی عیسو که در سعیر ساکنند عمل نموده، حوریان را از حضور ایشان هلاک ساخته، آنها رااخراج نمودند، و تا امروز در جای ایشان ساکنند.

23 The Avvim also, who dwelt in settlements as far as Gaza, Caphtorim, who were coming forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.

۲۳ و عویان را که در دهات تا به غزا ساکن بودندکفتوریان که از کفتور بیرون آمدند هلاک ساخته، در جای ایشان ساکن شدند. )

24 Arise ye, set forward and cross over the ravine of Arnon, see! I have given into thy hand—Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite and his land, begin—take possession, —and engage in strife with him in battle.

۲۴ پس برخیزید وکوچ کرده، از وادی ارنون عبور کنید، اینک سیحون اموری ملک حشبون و زمین او را به‌دست تو دادم، به تصرف آن شروع کن و با ایشان جنگ نما.

25 This day, will I begin to extend the dread of thee and the fear of thee over the face of the peoples under all the heavens, —who will hear the report of thee, then will they quake and writhe in pain because of thee.

۲۵ امروز شروع کرده، خوف و ترس تورا بر قومهای زیر تمام آسمان مستولی می‌گردانم، و ایشان آوازه تو را شنیده، خواهندلرزید، و از ترس تو مضطرب خواهند شد.»

26 So I sent messengers out of the desert of Kademoth, unto Sihon, king of Heshbon, —with words of peace saying:

۲۶ پس قاصدان با سخنان صلح‌آمیز از بیابان قدیموت نزد سیحون ملک حشبون فرستاده، گفتم:

27 I would pass along through thy land, by the road, by the road, will I go, —I will not turn aside, to the right hand or to the left:

۲۷ «اجازت بده که از زمین تو بگذرم، به شاهراه خواهم رفت و به طرف راست یا چپ میل نخواهم کرد.

28 Food for silver, shalt thou sell me so will I eat, and water for silver, shalt thou let me have, so will I drink, —only I would pass through on my feet; —

۲۸ خوراک را به نقره به من بفروش تابخورم، و آب را به نقره به من بده تا بنوشم، فقطاجازت بده تا بر پایهای خود بگذرم.

29 as the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, did to me, and the Moabites who are dwelling in Ar, —until that I pass over the Jordan, into the land which, Yahweh our God, is giving unto us.

۲۹ چنانکه بنی عیسو که در سعیر ساکنند و موآبیان که در عارساکنند به من رفتار نمودند، تا از اردن به زمینی که یهوه خدای ما به ما می‌دهد، عبور نمایم.»

30 But Sihon king of Heshbon, was not willing, to let us pass along through it, —for Yahweh thy God had suffered him to make his spirit harsh and his heart bold, that he might give him into thy hand—(as [appeareth] this day).

۳۰ اماسیحون ملک حشبون نخواست که ما را از سرحدخود راه بدهد، زیرا که یهوه خدای تو روح او رابه قساوت و دل او را به سختی واگذاشت، تا او راچنانکه امروز شده است، به‌دست تو تسلیم نماید.

31 Then said Yahweh unto me, See! I have begun to deliver up before thee Sihon and his land, —begin take possession, that thou mayest make a possession of his land.

۳۱ و خداوند مرا گفت: «اینک به تسلیم نمودن سیحون و زمین او به‌دست تو شروع کردم، پس بنابه تصرف آن بنما تا زمین او را مالک شوی.»

32 So then Sihon came out to meet us he, and all his people, to give battle at Jahaz.

۳۲ آنگاه سیحون با تمامی قوم خود به مقابله مابرای جنگ کردن در یاهص بیرون آمدند.

33 And Yahweh our God delivered him up before us, —and we smote him and his sons, and all his people

۳۳ ویهوه خدای ما او را به‌دست ما تسلیم نموده، او رابا پسرانش و جمیع قومش زدیم.

34 And we captured all his cities, at that time, and devoted to destruction every city of males, with the women and the little ones, —we left not remaining a survivor:

۳۴ و تمامی شهرهای او را در آنوقت گرفته، مردان و زنان واطفال هر شهر را هلاک کردیم که یکی را باقی نگذاشتیم.

35 only the cattle, made we our prey, —and the spoil of the cities which we captured.

۳۵ لیکن بهایم را با غنیمت شهرهایی که گرفته بودیم، برای خود به غارت بردیم.

36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the ravine of Arnon and the city that is in the ravine even as far as Gilead, there was not a fortress that proved too high for us, —the whole, did Yahweh our God deliver up before us.

۳۶ ازعروعیر که برکناره وادی ارنون است، و شهری که در وادی است، تا جلعاد قریه‌ای نبود که به ماممتنع باشد، یهوه خدای ما همه را به ما تسلیم نمود.

37 Only unto the land of the sons of Ammon, didst thou not come near, —all the side of the Jabbok ravine, nor the cities of the hill country, nor any which Yahweh our God had forbidden to us.

۳۷ لیکن به زمین بنی عمون و به تمامی کناره وادی یبوق و شهرهای کوهستان، و به هر جایی که یهوه خدای ما نهی فرموده بود، نزدیک نشدیم.
