Deuteronomy 19
1 When Yahweh thy God, shall cut off the nations whose land Yahweh thy God is giving thee, —and thou shalt dispossess them, and dwell in their cities and in their houses,
೧ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ಆತನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟ ತರುವಾಯ, ನೀವು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ,
2 three cities, shalt thou set apart for thee, —in the midst of thy land which Yahweh thy God is giving thee to possess.
೨ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವಾಗ, ಆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಮೂರು ಆಶ್ರಯ ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
3 Thou shalt prepare for thee a way, and shalt divide into three parts the boundary of thy land which Yahweh thy God shall cause thee to inherit, —and it shall be that every manslayer shall flee thither.
೩ನರಹತ್ಯಮಾಡಿದವರು ಆ ನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೊಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗುವಂತೆ ನೀವು ಅವುಗಳ ದಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಭಾಗ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
4 And, this, is the case of the manslayer, who shall flee thither and live, —Whoso shall smite his neighbour unwittingly, he, not having hated him aforetime;
೪ಆ ನಗರಗಳ ವಿವರ ಹೀಗಿದೆ, ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ದ್ವೇಷವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೈತಪ್ಪಿ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
5 as when one entereth with his neighbour into a forest, to fell trees, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe, to cut down the tree, and the head flieth off from the handle, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die, he, shall flee into one of these cities, and live;
೫ಉದಾಹರಣೆ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮರವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೊಡಲಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಕೊಡಲಿಯು ಕಾವಿನಿಂದ ಜಾರಿ ಆ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ತಗಲಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತರೆ, ಹೊಡೆದವನು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
6 lest the blood redeemer pursue the manslayer because his heart is hot, and overtake him because the way is long, and he smite him so as to take away his life, —he not being worthy of death, seeing that he had not been hating him aforetime.
೬ಸತ್ತವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ದ್ವೇಷವಿಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಾಯಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಿಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರನಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಹತ್ಯಮಾಡಿದವನಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವ ಹಂಗುಳ್ಳ ಸಮೀಪ ಬಂಧುವು ಇನ್ನು ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಪಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿಬಿಡಬಹುದು.
7 For this cause, am I commanding thee saying, —Three cities, shalt thou set apart for thee.
೭ಈ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ನೀವು ಮೂರು ಆಶ್ರಯ ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
8 But, if Yahweh thy God should enlarge thy bounds, as he sware unto thy fathers, —and should give thee all the land, which he spake of giving unto thy fathers;
೮ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿ, ತಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಡುವಾಗ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಮೂರು ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ನಾನು ಈಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸುವ ಈ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೀವು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವವರಾಗಿ,
9 because thou dost observe all this commandment to do it which I am commanding thee to-day, to love Yahweh thy God and to walk in his paths all the days, then shalt thou add unto thee yet three cities, unto these three;
೯ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ಆತನು ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲೇ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಡೆಯುವುದಾದರೆ, ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಮೂರು ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವನು.
10 that innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of thy land, which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee as an inheritance, —and so shed-blood be upon thee.
೧೦ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಗೆ ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗದಂತೆ; ಆ ದೋಷವು ನಿಮ್ಮದಾಗದಂತೆ ನೀವು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
11 But, when any man shall be hating his neighbour, and shall lie in wait for him and rise up against him, and smite him so as to take away his life that he dieth, —and shall then flee into one of these cities,
೧೧ಆದರೆ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಒಬ್ಬನಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ವೇಷವನ್ನೇ ಇಟ್ಟು ಸಮಯನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದ ತರುವಾಯ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ
12 then shall the elders of his city send and fetch him from thence, —and deliver him into the hand of the blood redeemer that he die;
೧೨ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರೆ, ಅವನ ಊರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ತರಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವ ಹಂಗುಳ್ಳವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು.
13 thine eye shall not look with pity upon him, —so shall thou consume the shedding of innocent blood out of Israel and it shall go well with thee.
೧೩ನೀವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕನಿಕರಿಸಬಾರದು. ನಿಮಗೆ ಶುಭವುಂಟಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದವನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
14 Thou shalt not move back the boundary of thy neighbour, by which they set bounds at first, —in thine inheritance which thou shall receive in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving thee to possess.
೧೪ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಸ್ವತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದ ಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಬಾರದು.
15 One witness, shall not rise up, against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, with regard to any sin that he may commit, —at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses, must a matter be establish.
೧೫ಯಾವ ದೋಷದ ಅಥವಾ ಅಪರಾಧದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ನೀವು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಬಾರದು. ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿ ರುಜುವಾತಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಬ್ಬರ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮೂವರ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಬೇಕು.
16 When there shall rise up a wrongful witness against a man, —to answer against him perversely,
೧೬ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನ್ಯಾಯವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಅಪರಾಧಿ ಎಂದು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಹೇಳಿದರೆ,
17 then shall the two men who are at variance stand before Yahweh, —before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;
೧೭ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡುವ ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಜಕರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, ಆಗ ಇರುವ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಕು.
18 and the judges shall make diligent inquisition, —and lo! if the witness be, a false witness and, falsely, have answered against his brother,
೧೮ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಸುಳ್ಳೆಂದು ತೋರಿಬಂದರೆ,
19 then shall ye do unto him as he had thought to de unto his brother, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst;
೧೯ಅವನು ಆ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿಧಿಸಬೇಕು. ಹೀಗೆ ನೀವು ಆ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವವನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದೊಳಗಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಬೇಕು.
20 and, they who remain shall hear and fear, —and not go on to do again according to this wicked thing, in thy midst:
೨೦ಉಳಿದವರು ಆ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಅಂಥ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
21 neither shall thine eye pity, —life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
೨೧ನೀವು ಅಂಥವರನ್ನು ಕನಿಕರಿಸಬಾರದು; ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನೂ, ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಣ್ಣನ್ನೂ, ಹಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ, ಕೈಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೈಯನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಲನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡಬೇಕು.
