Deuteronomy 14
1 Sons, are ye unto Yahweh your God, —ye shall not cut yourselves, neither shall ye put baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Ihr seid Kinder Jahwes, eures Gottes; ihr dürft euch daher nicht wegen eines Toten Hauteinritzungen machen, noch euch vorn am Kopf eine Glatze scheren.
2 For, a holy people, thou art unto Yahweh thy God, —and, of thee, did Yahweh make choice, that thou shouldest become his people as a treasure, above all the peoples that are on the face of the ground.
Denn du bist ein Jahwe, deinem Gotte, geheiligtes Volk, und dich hat Jahwe von allen Völkern, die auf Erden sind, erwählt, daß du ihm als Eigentumsvolk angehören sollst.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
Du sollst nichts Abscheuliches essen!
4 These, are the beasts which ye may eat, —the ox, the young of sheep, and the young of goats;
Dies sind die Tiere, die ihr essen dürft: Ochse, Schaf und Ziege,
5 the hart and the gazelle and the roebuck, —and the wild goat and the mountain goat, and the wild ox, and the mountain sheep.
Hirsch, Gazelle und Damhirsch, Steinbock, Antilope, Teo und Demer.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, chewing the cud, among beasts, the same, shall ye eat.
Alle Vierfüßler, die gespaltene Klauen - und zwar beide Klauen ganz durchgespalten - haben und die zugleich wiederkäuen unter den Vierfüßlern, die dürft ihr essen.
7 Nevertheless these, shall ye not eat, of them that chew the cud, and of them that divide the cloven hoof, —the camel and the hare and the rabbit for, though they do chew the cud, yet the hoof, do they not part, unclean, they are unto you.
Nur die folgenden dürft ihr von den Wiederkäuern und von denen, die ganz durchgespaltene Klauen haben, nicht essen: das Kamel, den Hasen und den Klippdachs; denn sie sind zwar Wiederkäuer, haben aber keine durchgespaltenen Klauen, - als unrein haben sie euch zu gelten;
8 And, the swine, because though he doth divide the hoof, yet he cheweth not the cud, unclean, he is unto you, —of their flesh, shall ye not eat, and their carcases, shall ye not touch.
ferner das Schwein, denn es hat zwar durchgespaltene Klauen, ist aber kein Wiederkäuer, - als unrein hat es euch zu gelten. Ihr dürft weder ihr Fleisch genießen, noch dürft ihr ihr Aas berühren.
9 These, may ye eat of all that that are in the waters, —whatsoever hath fins and scales, ye may eat;
Von allen im Wasser lebenden Tieren dürft ihr folgende essen: Alle, welche Flossen und Schuppen haben, dürft ihr essen;
10 and, whatsoever hath not, fins and scales, ye may not eat, —unclean, it is unto you.
dagegen dürft ihr keine von denen essen, die keine Flossen und Schuppen haben, - als unrein sollen sie euch gelten.
11 Of every clean bird, ye may eat;
Alle reinen Vögel dürft ihr essen;
12 saving these, of which ye may not eat, —the eagle and the ossifrage and the osprey;
die folgenden aber dürft ihr nicht essen: den Adler, den Bartgeier, den Geier,
13 and the vulture and the kite, and the falcon after its kind;
die Weihe und das Geschlecht der Falken,
14 and every raven after its kind;
das ganze Geschlecht der Raben,
15 and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich and the sea-gull, —and the hawk, after its kind;
den Strauß, die Schwalbe, die Möwe und das Geschlecht der Habichte,
16 and the pelican and the bittern, and the swan;
das Käuzchen, den Uhu, die Eule,
17 and the vomiting pelican and the little vulture and the gannet;
den Pelekan, den Erdgeier, den Sturzpelekan,
18 and the stork, and the parrot, after its kind, —and the mountain-cock, and the bat.
den Storch, das Geschlecht der Regenpfeifer, den Wiedehopf und die Fledermaus.
19 And, as for every creeping thing that flieth, unclean, it is unto you, —they, shall not be eaten.
Alle geflügelten kleinen Tiere sollen euch als unrein gelten; sie dürfen nicht gegessen werden.
20 All clean fowls, ye may eat.
Alles reine Geflügel dürft ihr essen.
21 Ye shall not eat any thing that dieth of itself: to the sojourner who is within thy gates, mayest thou give it and he may eat it or thou mayest sell it to a foreigner, for a holy people, art thou unto Yahweh thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid, in the milk of its dam.
Ihr dürft keinerlei Aas essen. Dem Fremden, der sich an deinem Wohnort aufhält, magst du es geben, daß er es esse, oder du magst es einem Ausländer verkaufen; denn du bist ein Jahwe, deinem Gotte, geheiligtes Volk. Nicht darfst du ein Böckchen in der Milch seiner Mutter kochen.
22 Thou shalt surely tithe, all the increase of thy seed, —which the field bringeth forth year by year.
Von allem Ertrag deiner Aussaat, von allem, was auf dem Felde wächst, sollst du Jahr für Jahr gewissenhaft den Zehnten nehmen
23 And thou shalt eat before Yahweh thy God—in the place which he shall choose to make a habitation for his name there, —the tithe of thy corn thy new wine and thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock, —that thou mayest learn to revere Yahweh thy God all the days.
und vor Jahwe, deinem Gott, an der Stätte, die er erwählt, um seinen Namen daselbst wohnen zu lassen, den Zehnten deines Getreides, Mostes und Öls und die Erstgeburten deiner Rinder und Schafe verzehren, damit du Jahwe, deinen Gott, allezeit fürchten lernst.
24 But, when the way becometh too long for thee because thou canst not carry it, because the place is too far for thee which Yahweh thy God shall choose to put his name there, —because Yahweh thy God blesseth thee,
Und wenn dir der Weg zu lang sein sollte, wenn du es nicht hinschaffen kannst, weil die Stätte, die Jahwe, dein Gott, zur Wohnung seines Namens erwählt hat, zu weit von dir entfernt ist, wenn Jahwe, dein Gott, dich gesegnet hat,
25 then shalt thou turn it into silver, —and shalt bind up the silver in thy hand, and shalt journey unto the place, which Yahweh thy God shall choose;
so mache es zu Geld, nimm das Geld wohlverwahrt mit dir, begieb dich nach der Stätte, die Jahwe, dein Gott, erwählt hat,
26 and shalt turn the silver into whatsoever thy soul desireth—of the herd or of the flock, or of wine or of strong drink, or of whatsoever thy soul shall ask thee for, —and shalt eat it there, before Yahweh thy God, and shalt rejoice, thou and thy household,
und kaufe für das Geld, was du irgend begehrst, Rinder und Schafe, Wein und starkes Getränk und alles, wonach du Verlangen hast, und iß daselbst vor Jahwe, deinem Gott, und sei fröhlich samt deiner Familie.
27 and, the Levite who is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him, —for he hath neither portion nor inheritance with thee.
Dabei sollst du den Leviten, der sich an deinem Wohnort aufhält, nicht vergessen; denn er hat keinen Landanteil noch Erbbesitz bei dir.
28 At the end of three years, shalt thou bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in that year, —and shalt lay it up within thy gates;
Am Ende von drei Jahren sollst du den gesamten Zehnten von deinem Ertrag in jenem dritten Jahre herausgeben und in deinem Wohnorte niederlegen,
29 and the Levite shall come in—because he hath neither portion nor inheritance with thee—and the sojourner and the fatherless and the widow who are within thy gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied, —that Yahweh thy God may bless thee, in all the work of thy hand which thou shalt do.
damit die Leviten, die ja keinen Landanteil noch Erbbesitz bei dir haben, die Fremdlinge, die Waisen und Witwen, die an deinem Wohnorte leben, kommen und sich satt essen, auf daß dich Jahwe, dein Gott, bei allem Thun segne, das deine Hand verrichtet.
