Deuteronomy 14
1 Sons, are ye unto Yahweh your God, —ye shall not cut yourselves, neither shall ye put baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Vous êtes les enfants de Yahweh, votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez point d’incision et vous ne vous tondrez point une place entre les yeux pour un mort.
2 For, a holy people, thou art unto Yahweh thy God, —and, of thee, did Yahweh make choice, that thou shouldest become his people as a treasure, above all the peoples that are on the face of the ground.
Car tu es un peuple saint à Yahweh, ton Dieu; et Yahweh t’a choisi pour lui être un peuple particulier entre tous les peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
Tu ne mangeras aucune chose abominable.
4 These, are the beasts which ye may eat, —the ox, the young of sheep, and the young of goats;
Voici les animaux dont vous mangerez: le bœuf, la brebis et la chèvre;
5 the hart and the gazelle and the roebuck, —and the wild goat and the mountain goat, and the wild ox, and the mountain sheep.
le cerf, la gazelle et le daim; le bouquetin, l’antilope, le bœuf sauvage et la chèvre sauvage.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, chewing the cud, among beasts, the same, shall ye eat.
Vous mangerez de tout animal qui a la corne divisée et le pied fourchu, et qui rumine.
7 Nevertheless these, shall ye not eat, of them that chew the cud, and of them that divide the cloven hoof, —the camel and the hare and the rabbit for, though they do chew the cud, yet the hoof, do they not part, unclean, they are unto you.
Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui ruminent seulement, ou qui ont seulement la corne divisée et le pied fourchu; tels sont le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin, qui ruminent, mais qui n’ont pas la corne divisée: ils seront impurs pour vous;
8 And, the swine, because though he doth divide the hoof, yet he cheweth not the cud, unclean, he is unto you, —of their flesh, shall ye not eat, and their carcases, shall ye not touch.
tel est encore le porc, qui a la corne divisée, mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur pour vous. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, et vous ne toucherez pas leurs corps morts.
9 These, may ye eat of all that that are in the waters, —whatsoever hath fins and scales, ye may eat;
Voici les animaux que vous mangerez parmi tous ceux qui sont dans les eaux: vous mangerez de tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles;
10 and, whatsoever hath not, fins and scales, ye may not eat, —unclean, it is unto you.
mais tout ce qui n’a pas nageoires et écailles, vous ne le mangerez pas: ce sera impur pour vous.
11 Of every clean bird, ye may eat;
Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.
12 saving these, of which ye may not eat, —the eagle and the ossifrage and the osprey;
Voici ceux dont vous ne mangerez pas: l’aigle, l’orfraie et le vautour;
13 and the vulture and the kite, and the falcon after its kind;
le faucon, le milan et toute espèce d’autours;
14 and every raven after its kind;
toute espèce de corbeaux;
15 and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich and the sea-gull, —and the hawk, after its kind;
l’autruche, le hibou, la mouette et toute espèce d’éperviers;
16 and the pelican and the bittern, and the swan;
le chat-huant, l’ibis et la chouette;
17 and the vomiting pelican and the little vulture and the gannet;
le pélican, le cormoran et le plongeon;
18 and the stork, and the parrot, after its kind, —and the mountain-cock, and the bat.
la cigogne et toute espèce de hérons; la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 And, as for every creeping thing that flieth, unclean, it is unto you, —they, shall not be eaten.
Vous regarderez comme impur tout insecte ailé: on n’en mangera pas.
20 All clean fowls, ye may eat.
Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.
21 Ye shall not eat any thing that dieth of itself: to the sojourner who is within thy gates, mayest thou give it and he may eat it or thou mayest sell it to a foreigner, for a holy people, art thou unto Yahweh thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid, in the milk of its dam.
Vous ne mangerez d’aucune bête morte. Tu la donneras à l’étranger qui est dans tes portes, pour qu’il la mange, ou tu la vendras à un étranger; car tu es un peuple saint à Yahweh, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 Thou shalt surely tithe, all the increase of thy seed, —which the field bringeth forth year by year.
Tu lèveras la dîme de tout le produit de tes semailles, de ce que ton champ rapportera chaque année.
23 And thou shalt eat before Yahweh thy God—in the place which he shall choose to make a habitation for his name there, —the tithe of thy corn thy new wine and thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock, —that thou mayest learn to revere Yahweh thy God all the days.
Et tu mangeras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de tes bœufs et de tes brebis, afin que tu apprennes à craindre Yahweh, ton Dieu, à jamais.
24 But, when the way becometh too long for thee because thou canst not carry it, because the place is too far for thee which Yahweh thy God shall choose to put his name there, —because Yahweh thy God blesseth thee,
Mais si le chemin est trop long pour toi, et que tu ne puisses l’ y transporter, parce que le lieu que Yahweh choisira pour y faire habiter son nom sera trop loin de toi, lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, t’aura béni:
25 then shalt thou turn it into silver, —and shalt bind up the silver in thy hand, and shalt journey unto the place, which Yahweh thy God shall choose;
tu échangeras ta dîme pour de l’argent et, ayant serré l’argent dans ta main, tu iras au lieu que Yahweh, ton Dieu, aura choisi.
26 and shalt turn the silver into whatsoever thy soul desireth—of the herd or of the flock, or of wine or of strong drink, or of whatsoever thy soul shall ask thee for, —and shalt eat it there, before Yahweh thy God, and shalt rejoice, thou and thy household,
Là, tu achèteras avec l’argent tout ce que désirera ton âme, des bœufs, des brebis, du vin, des liqueurs fermentées, tout ce que demandera ton âme, et tu mangeras là devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, et tu te réjouiras, toi et ta maison.
27 and, the Levite who is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him, —for he hath neither portion nor inheritance with thee.
Tu ne délaisseras pas le Lévite qui sera dans tes portes, car il n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi.
28 At the end of three years, shalt thou bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in that year, —and shalt lay it up within thy gates;
À la fin de chaque troisième année, tu mettras à part toute la dîme de tes produits de cette année-là, et tu la déposeras dans tes portes.
29 and the Levite shall come in—because he hath neither portion nor inheritance with thee—and the sojourner and the fatherless and the widow who are within thy gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied, —that Yahweh thy God may bless thee, in all the work of thy hand which thou shalt do.
Alors viendra le Lévite, qui n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi, ainsi que l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve, qui seront dans tes portes, et ils mangeront et se rassasieront, afin que Yahweh, ton Dieu, te bénisse dans toutes les œuvres que tu entreprendras de tes mains.
