Amos 6
1 Alas for the careless in Zion, and for them who put confidence in the mountain of Samaria, —the distinguished among the first group of nations, to whom came in the house of Israel.
A UWE ka poe palaka ma Ziona, A hilinai hoi ma ka mauna o Samaria: Ka poe i oleloia, o na pookela o na lahuikanaka, Io lakou la i hele mai ka Iseraela!
2 Pass ye over to Calneh, and see, and go on from thence to Hamath the great, —and go down to Gath of the Philistines, are they better than these kingdoms? or their boundary larger than your boundary?
E hele aku oukou i Kalene, a e nana; A mai laila aku e hele ai oukou i Hamata nui; Alaila, e iho aku i Gata o ko Pilisetia: Ua oi anei ko lakou maikai mamua o ko keia mau aupuni? Ua oi anei ka palahalaha o ko lakou mokuna mamua o ko oukou mokuna?
3 Ye who are putting far away the day of calamity, —but bringing near the abode of violence:
Auwe ka poe i hooloihi aku i ka la ino, A hookokoke i ka noho hookaumaha wale;
4 Who are lying on beds of ivory, and sprawling on their couch of pleasure, —and eating the well-fed of the flock, and the fatted calves out of the midst of the stalls:
Ka poe e moe ana maluna o na wahi moe niho elepani, A moe hoolei loa maluna o ko lakou wahi moe, A ai iho i na keikihipa o ka poe hipa, A me na keiki bipi i kupeleia;
5 Who are bawling at the bidding of the harp, —like David, have they invented for themselves instruments of song:
Ka poe mele mamuli o ka viola, A hana lakou no lakou iho i na mea kani e like me Davida;
6 Who are quaffing bowls of wine, and, with the best of oils, anointing themselves, —and are not afflicted for the injury of Joseph: —
Ka poe inu waina maloko o na kiaha, A kahinu ia lakou iho i ka hinu maikai: Aka, aole i kaumaha lakou no ka eha ana o ka Iosepa!
7 Therefore, at once, shall they go into exile among the first of the exiles, —so shall be disturbed the revelry of sprawlers.

8 Sworn hath the Lord, Yahweh, by his own life, Declareth Yahweh, God of hosts, abhorring am I, the grandeur of Jacob, and, his palaces, I hate, —therefore will I cast off the city and the fulness thereof.
Ua hoohiki o Iehova ka Haku, ma kona ola, wahi a Iehova, ke Akua o na kaua, Ke hoopailua nei au i ka haaheo o Iakoba, A ke hoowahawaha nei hoi i kona mau halealii; Nolaila, e hoolilo aku ai au i ke kulanakauhale, a me kona mea i piha ai.
9 And it shall come to pass, though there be left remaining ten men in one house, yet shall they die;

10 And a man’s near of kin, even he who is about to burn the bones, shall carry him out of the house, when he shall say to him that is in the hinder parts of the house—Are there yet any with thee? and he shall say—No one. Then shall he say—Hush! for we must not invoke the name of Yahweh.
A o ka hoahanau o kona makuakane e lawe aku ia ia, A o ka mea i puhi ia ia, e lawe aku iwaho i na iwi mailoko mai o ka hale, A e olelo aku i ka mea maloko loa o ka hale, Aole anei he mea i koe me oe? e i mai kela, Aole. Alaila, e i aku ia, Hamau; no ka mea, aole e olelo ma ka inoa o Iehova.
11 For lo! Yahweh, is giving command, and will smite the great house into ruins, —and the little house with clefts.

12 Shall horses run upon crag? or will a man plough [there] with oxen? For ye have turned to poison the sentence of justice, and the fruit of righteousness, to wormwood:
E holo anei na lio maluna o na pohaku? E mahi oopalau ia anei malaila me na bipi kauo? No ka mea, ua hoolilo oukou i ka hoopono ana i laau make, A i ka hua o ka pono, i laau awaawa:
13 Who rejoice in a thing of nought, —who say, Have we not by our own strength, taken to ourselves horns?
E oukou, ka poe e olioli ana i ka mea ole, Ka poe e olelo, Aole anei kakou i lawe no kakou i na pepeiaohao ma ko kakou ikaika?
14 For behold me! raising up against you, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, the God of hosts—a nation! And they shall crush you, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the torrent-bed of the waste plain.
Aka, aia hoi, e hoala ku e auanei au i lahuikanaka ia oukou, e ko ka hale o Iseraela, wahi a Iehova, ke Akua o na kaua; A e hookaumaha lakou ia oukou mai ke komo ana o Hamata a hiki i ke kahawai o ka papu.
