Acts 9
1 But, Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, going unto the High-priest,
Pero mientras tanto, Saulo estaba enviando amenazas violentas contra los discípulos del Señor, deseoso de matarlos. Así que fue donde el sumo sacerdote
2 asked from him letters for Damascus, unto the synagogues; to the end that, if he should find, any, who were of The Way, whether men or women, he might bring them, bound, unto Jerusalem.
y solicitó cartas de autorización para ir a las sinagogas de Damasco, y para tener permiso de arrestar a todos los creyentes que encontrara en El Camino, hombres o mujeres, y traerlos de regreso a Jerusalén como prisioneros.
3 But, as he was journeying, it came to pass that he was drawing near unto Damascus, and, suddenly, there flashed around him a light out of heaven;
Pero cuando Saulo se aproximaba a Damasco, de repente fue rodeado por una luz brillante que descendía del cielo.
4 And, falling unto the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him—Saul! Saul! why, me, art thou persecuting?
Entonces Saulo cayó al suelo, y escuchó una voz que decía: “Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?”
5 And he said—Who art thou, Lord? And, he, [said] —I, am Jesus, whom, thou, art persecuting!
“¿Quién eres, Señor?” preguntó Saulo. “Yo soy Jesús, al que persigues”, le respondió.
6 But rise up, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
“Levántate, ve a la ciudad y allí se te dirá lo que debes hacer”.
7 But, the men who were accompanying him, stood speechless, —hearing, indeed, the voice, but beholding no one.
Y los hombres que iban de viaje con Saulo estaban sin palabras. Habían oído la voz que hablaba, pero no vieron a nadie.
8 And Saul arose from the earth, and, his eyes being opened, he could see nothing; and, taking him by the hand, they led him into Damascus, —
Entonces Saulo se puso en pie, y cuando abrió sus ojos no podía ver. Entonces sus compañeros de viaje lo tomaron de la mano y lo llevaron hasta Damasco.
9 And he was three days without seeing, and did neither eat nor drink.
Durante tres días Saulo no pudo ver, y no comió y bebió nada.
10 Now there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias; and, the Lord, said unto him in a vision—Ananias! And, he, said—Lo! I, [am here], Lord!
En Damasco vivía un seguidor de Jesús. Su nombre era Ananías, y el Señor le habló en una visión. “¡Ananías!” llamó el Señor. “Estoy aquí, Señor”, respondió Ananías.
11 And the Lord [said] unto him—Rise! go into the street which is called Straight, and seek, in the house of Judas, one Saul, by name, of Tarsus. For lo! he is praying, —
“Levántate y ve a la Calle Derecha”, le dijo el Señor. “Pregunta en la casa de Judas por un hombre llamado Saulo de Tarso. Él está orando.
12 And hath seen a man [in a vision], Ananias by name, coming in and laying on him his hands, to the intent he should see.
Ha visto en visión a un hombre llamado Ananías que llega y pone sus manos sobre él para que recobre su vista”.
13 And Ananias, answered—Lord! I have heard from many concerning this man, how many evil things unto thy saints he hath done in Jerusalem;
“Pero Señor”, respondió Ananías, “He oído muchas cosas acerca de este hombre, y sobre todas las cosas malas que hizo a los creyentes de Jerusalén.
14 And, here, he hath authority from the High-priests to bind all them that call upon thy name.
Los jefes de los sacerdotes le han dado poder para arrestar a todos los que te adoran y te siguen”.
15 But the Lord said unto him—Be going thy way; for, a choice vessel unto me, is this man, to bear my name before both [the] nations and kings, and the sons of Israel;
Pero el Señor le dijo: “Ve, porque él es la persona a la cual he escogido para llevar mi nombre a los extranjeros y reyes, así como a Israel.
16 For, I, will let him understand how many things he must needs, for my name, suffer.
Yo le mostraré que él tendrá que sufrir por causa de mi nombre”.
17 And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and, laying upon him his hands, said—Saul, brother! The Lord, hath sent me, —Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way by which thou wast coming, —that thou mayest recover sight, and be filled with Holy Spirit.
Entonces Ananías salió y fue a la casa que el Señor le mostró. Y puso sus manos sobre Saulo. “Hermano Saulo”, le dijo, “El Señor Jesús, quien se apareció delante de ti en el camino cuando viajabas hacia acá, me ha enviado para que recobres tu vista y seas lleno del Espíritu Santo”.
18 And, straightway, there fell from him—from his eyes, —as it were scales; he recovered sight also, and, arising, was immersed:
De inmediato, de sus ojos cayeron como escamas, y su vista fue restaurada. Entonces se levantó y fue bautizado.
19 And, receiving food, gained strength. And he came to be with the disciples who were in Damascus certain days;
También comió y se sintió más fuerte. Y Saulo pasó varios días con los discípulos en Damasco.
20 And, straightway, in the synagogues, he began proclaiming Jesus, that, This, is the Son of God.
Entonces comenzó de inmediato a predicar en las sinagogas, diciendo: “Jesús es el Hijo de Dios”.
21 And all who were hearing were astonished, and began to say—is not, this, he who destroyed, in Jerusalem, them that invoke this name; and, here, for this purpose, had come, in order that he might lead them, bound, unto the High-priests?
Y todos los que lo oían predicar estaban asombrados, y preguntaban: “¿Acaso no es este el hombre que causó tantos problemas a los creyentes de Jesús en Jerusalén? ¿Acaso no vino aquí para arrestar y llevar encadenados a los creyentes ante los jefes de los sacerdotes?”
22 But, Saul, was the more gaining power; and was confounding the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, shewing, by comparison, that—This, is the Christ.
Y Saulo crecía cada vez más, así como su fe, demostrando de manera muy convincente que Jesús era el Mesías, tanto que los habitantes de Damasco no podían refutar lo que decía.
23 Now, when a considerable number of days were being fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;
Tiempo después, los judíos conspiraron para matarlo,
24 But their plot was made known unto Saul, —and they were even narrowly watching the gates, both day and night, that they might kill him;
pero Saulo se enteró de sus intenciones. De día y de noche esperaban en las puertas de la ciudad, buscando una oportunidad para matarlo.
25 But the disciples, taking him by night, through the wall, let him down, lowering him in a basket.
Así que durante la noche sus seguidores lo tomaron y lo hicieron descender en una canasta, desde una abertura del muro de la ciudad.
26 And, when he had arrived in Jerusalem, he made attempts to join himself unto the disciples; and all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
Cuando Saulo llegó a Jerusalén, trató de encontrar a los discípulos, pero todos le tenían miedo, porque no estaban convencidos de que él realmente fuera discípulo.
27 But, Barnabas, taking him, brought him unto the apostles, and related unto them, —how, in the way, he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken unto him; and how, in Damascus, he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.
Sin embargo, Bernabé lo llevó donde estaban los apóstoles, y les explicó cómo Saulo había visto al Señor durante el camino y cómo el Señor le había hablado. Bernabé también explicó cómo Saulo había hablado con vehemencia en nombre del Señor en Damasco.
28 And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord;
Saulo se quedó con los apóstoles y los acompañó hasta Jerusalén,
29 And was both speaking and discussing with the Grecian Jews, —but, they, were setting to work to kill him.
predicando abiertamente en nombre del Señor. Y Saulo hablaba y debatía con los judíos de habla griega, pero ellos trataron de matarlo.
30 And the brethren, discovering it, brought him down into Caesarea, and sent him away unto Tarsus.
Pero cuando los hermanos supieron acerca de esto, lo llevaron a Cesarea y lo enviaron a Tarso.
31 So then, the assembly throughout the whole of Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, had peace, building itself up, and going on its way in the fear of the Lord; and, by the advocacy of the Holy Spirit, was being multiplied.
Durante este tiempo, toda la iglesia en Judea, Galilea y Samaria estuvo en tranquilidad. Y la iglesia se fortalecía y aumentaba en número a medida que los creyentes vivían en reverencia para con el Señor, animados por el Espíritu Santo.
32 And it came to pass that, Peter, going through all [quarters] went down unto the saints also dwelling in Lydda.
Pedro andaba de viaje y fue a visitar a los creyentes que vivían en Lida.
33 And he found there a certain man, by name Aeneas, who, for eight years, had been lying prostrate upon a bed, for he was paralysed.
Allí conoció a un hombre llamado Eneas, quien era paralítico y había quedado confinado a estar en su cama desde hacía ocho años.
34 And Peter said unto him—Aeneas! Jesus Christ healeth thee! Arise, and smooth thy bed for thyself. And, straightway, he arose.
Entonces Pedro le dijo: “¡Eneas, Jesucristo te sana! ¡Levántate y recoge tu camilla!” Y de inmediato Eneas se levantó.
35 And all who dwelt in Lydda and Saron, saw him, —and, they, turned unto the Lord.
Y todos los que vivían en Lida y Sarón lo vieron, y se convirtieron en creyentes del Señor.
36 Now, in Joppa, there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, which, being translated, means Dorcas [a Gazelle]. The same, was full of good works and alms which she was doing.
En Jope vivía una seguidora llamada Tabita, (Dorcas en griego). Ella siempre hacía el bien y ayudaba a los pobres.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she, sickening, died; and, bathing her, they laid her in an upper room.
Sin embargo, durante esos días ella se enfermó y murió. Y después de lavar su cuerpo, la acostaron en una habitación que estaba en la parte de arriba.
38 Now, Lydda being nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was therein, sent off two men unto him, beseeching him—Do not delay to come through unto us!
Lida estaba cerca a Jope, así que los discípulos que estaban en Jope, al saber que Pedro estaba en Lida, enviaron a dos hombres con el siguiente mensaje: “Por favor, ven acá de inmediato”.
39 And Peter, arising, went with them, —whom, when he arrived, they brought up into the upper room; and there stood by him all the widows, weeping, and showing the tunics and mantles—whatsoever things Dorcas was making while she was with them.
Así que Pedro se alistó y se fue con ellos. Y cuando llegó lo llevaron a la habitación de arriba. Todas las viudas estaban ahí llorando, y le mostraban a Pedro los abrigos y ropas que Dorcas había hecho mientras estuvo con ellas.
40 But Peter, putting them all outside, knelt down and prayed; and, turning towards the body, said—Tabitha, arise! And she, opening her eyes and seeing Peter, sat up.
Entonces Pedro les pidió que salieran de la habitación, y se arrodilló y oró. Entonces dio vuelta al cuerpo de Tabita y dijo: “Tabita, levántate”. Entonces ella abrió los ojos, y cuando vio a Pedro se sentó.
41 And, giving her his hand, he raised her up; and, calling the saints and the widows, presented her, living.
Luego Pedro la tomó de la mano y la levantó. Y entonces llamó a los creyentes y a las viudas, y la presentó viva delante de ellos.
42 And it became known throughout the whole of Joppa, and many believed upon the Lord.
Y la noticia se esparció por toda la ciudad de Jope, y muchos creyeron en el Señor.
43 And it came to pass that, for a considerable number of days, he abode in Joppa, with one Simon, a tanner.
Pedro se quedó mucho tiempo en Jope, hospedándose en la casa de Simón el curtidor.
