Acts 5
1 But, a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
১এখন অননিয় নামে একজন লোক ছিল এবং তার স্ত্রী সাফেরা একটি জমি বিক্রি করল,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it; and, bringing a certain part, at the feet of the Apostles, he laid it.
২আর সে সেই বিক্রয়ের টাকার কিছু অংশ নিজের কাছে রাখল আর বাকি অংশ প্রেরিতদের কাছে দিয়ে দিল, এই বিষয়ে তার স্ত্রীও জানতো।
3 But Peter said—Ananias! wherefore did Satan fill thy heart, that thou shouldst deal falsely with the Holy Spirit, and keep back part of the price of the field?
৩তখন পিতর তাকে বলল, অননিয় তোমার মনে কেন শয়তানকে কাজ করতে দিলে যে পবিত্র আত্মার কাছে মিথ্যে বললে আর জমির টাকা থেকে কিছুটা নিজের কাছে রেখে দিলে?
4 While it remained, was it not, as thine own, it remained? and, when sold, was it not, in thine own authority, that it still continued? Why was it that thou didst contrive in thy heart this deed? Thou hast not dealt falsely with men but, with God.
৪জমিটা বিক্রির আগে এটা কি তোমার ছিল না? এবং বিক্রির পরও কি তোমার অধিকারে ছিল না? তবে তুমি কেমন করে এই জিনিসগুলি তোমার হৃদয়ে ভাবলে? তুমি মানুষের কাছে মিথ্যে বললে তা নয়, কিন্তু ঈশ্বরকেই বললে।
5 And, as Ananias heard these words, he fell, and expired. And there came great fear upon all that heard;
৫অননিয় এই সব শুনে পড়ে গিয়ে মারা গেল। এবং যারা শুনল তারা খুব ভয় পেয়ে গেল।
6 But the young men, rising up, wrapped him about, and, bearing him forth, buried him.
৬কিছু যুবকেরা এগিয়ে এলো এবং তাকে কাপড়ে জড়ালো এবং বাইরে নিয়ে গিয়ে কবর দিল
7 And it came to pass, after about three hours interval, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
৭প্রায় তিন ঘন্টা পরে, তার স্ত্রী এসেছিল কিন্তু সে জানতো না কি হয়েছে
8 And Peter began to say unto her—Tell me! was it, for so much, ye gave up the field? And she said—Yea! for so much.
৮পিতর তাকে বলল, “আমাকে বলত, তোমরা সেই জমি কি এত টাকাতে বিক্রি করেছিলে?” সে বলল, “হ্যাঁ, এত টাকাতেই।”
9 And, Peter, [said] unto her—Why was it agreed by you to put to the proof the Spirit of the Lord? Lo! the feet of them that have buried thy husband, are at the door, and they shall bear thee forth.
৯তারপর পিতর তাকে বললেন, “তোমরা প্রভুর আত্মাকে পরীক্ষা করার জন্য কেমন করে এক চিত্ত হলে? দেখ, যারা তোমার স্বামীর কবর দিয়েছে, তারা দরজায় এসেছে এবং তোমাকে নিয়ে যাবে।”
10 And she fell instantly at his feet, and expired. And the young men, coming in, found her dead; and, bearing her forth, they buried her with her husband.
১০তখনই সাফেরা তার পায়ে পড়ে মারা যায়। এবং যুবকেরা ভিতরে এসে দেখল, সে মৃত; তারা তাকে বাইরে নিয়ে গেল এবং তার স্বামীর পাশে কবর দিল।
11 And there came great fear upon the whole assembly, and upon all them that heard these things.
১১সমস্ত মণ্ডলী এবং যারা একথা শুনল সবাই খুব ভয় পেয়ে গেল
12 And, through the hands of the Apostles, were coming to pass many signs and wonders among the people; and they were all with one accord in the portico of Solomon;
১২প্রেরিতদের মাধ্যমে অনেক চিহ্ন-কার্য্য ও অলৌকিক কাজ সম্পন্ন হতে লাগল। তারা সকলে একমনে শলোমনের বারান্দাতে একত্রিত হত।
13 Howbeit, of the rest, no one, durst join himself unto them, —nevertheless the people continued to magnify them;
১৩যারা তাঁদের বিশ্বাস করত না সেই সব লোকেরা তাঁদের সঙ্গে যোগ দিতে সাহসও করত না, কিন্তু তা সত্বেও লোকেরা তাঁদের উচ্চমূল্য দিল।
14 And, the more, were being added, when they believed in the Lord, throngs both of men and women; —
১৪আর দলে দলে অনেক পুরুষ ও স্ত্রীলোক প্রভু যীশুতে বিশ্বাসী হয়ে তাঁদের সাথে সংযুক্ত হতে লাগল।
15 So that, even into the broad-ways, were they bringing forth the sick, and laying them on small couches and beds, in order that, if Peter were coming along, even perchance his shadow, might overshadow some one of them.
১৫এমনকি লোকেরা অসুস্থ রোগীদের নিয়ে রাস্তার মাঝে বিছানায় এবং খাটে শুইয়ে রাখতো, যাতে পিতর যখন আসবে তখন তাঁর ছায়া তাদের ওপর পড়ে।
16 Moreover even the throng of the cities all round Jerusalem was coming together, bearing sick folk, and such as were harassed by impure spirits, —who, indeed, were being cured, one and all.
১৬যিরুশালেমের চারপাশের বিভিন্ন নগর থেকে অনেক লোক অসুস্থ রোগী ও অশুচি আত্মায় পাওয়া ব্যক্তিদের নিয়ে একত্রিত হত এবং তারা সুস্থ হয়ে যেত।
17 But the High-priest, arising, and all who were with him, —being the sect of the Sadducees, —were filled with jealousy,
১৭পরে মহাযাজক ও তার সঙ্গীরা অর্থাৎ সদ্দূকী সম্প্রদায়ের লোকেরা প্রেরিতদের প্রতি ঈর্ষায় পরিপূর্ণ হলেন।
18 And thrust their hands upon the Apostles, and put them in a public ward.
১৮এবং প্রেরিতদের গ্রেপ্তার করে সাধারণ কারাগারে বন্ধ করে দিলেন।
19 But, a messenger of the Lord, by night, opened the doors of the prison; and, leading them out, said—
১৯কিন্তু রাত্রিবেলায় প্রভুর এক দূত এসে জেলখানার দরজা খুলে দিলেন এবং প্রেরিতদের বাইরে নিয়ে আসলেন এবং বললেন,
20 Be going your way, and, taking your stand, be speaking, in the temple, unto the people, all the declarations of this Life.
২০“যাও, উপাসনা ঘরের মধ্যে দাঁড়িয়ে এই নতুন জীবনের সমস্ত কথা লোকদের বল।”
21 Now, when they heard this, they entered, under the dawn, into the temple, and began teaching. And the High-priest and they who were with him, arriving, called together the high-council, and all the senate of the sons of Israel; and sent off unto the prison, to have them brought.
২১এই সব শোনার পর প্রেরিতেরা ভোরবেলায় উপাসনা ঘরে গিয়ে উপদেশ দিতে লাগলেন। ইতিমধ্যে, মহাযাজক ও তার সঙ্গীরা, ইস্রায়েলের লোকেদের গন্যমান্য ব্যক্তিদের নিয়ে এক মহাসভা ডাকল এবং প্রেরিতদের আনার জন্য কারাগারে লোক পাঠালো।
22 And, the officers who came to the place, found them not in the prison; and, returning, brought tidings,
২২কিন্তু যখন সেই আধিকারিকরা কারাগারে পৌঁছলো, তারা দেখল প্রেরিতেরা সেখানে নেই, সুতরাং তারা ফিরে গেল এবং এই সংবাদ দিল,
23 Saying—The prison, found we locked with all safety, and the keepers standing at the doors; but, when we had opened the prison, inside, found we, no one.
২৩“আমরা দেখলাম জেলখানার দরজা সুদৃঢ়ভাবে বন্ধ আছে এবং দরজায় দরজায় পাহারাদাররা দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, কিন্তু যখন আমরা দরজা খুলে ভিতরে গেলাম কাউকে দেখতে পেলাম না।”
24 Now, when both the captain of the temple and the High-priests heard these words, they were utterly at a loss concerning them—what perhaps this might come to.
২৪তখন উপাসনা ঘরের রক্ষী বাহিনীর প্রধান এবং প্রধান যাজকেরা এই কথা শুনে আশ্চর্য্য হয়ে ভাবতে লাগল, এর পরিণতি কি হবে।
25 But some one, entering, brought tidings unto them—Lo! the men whom ye put in the prison, are in the temple, standing, and teaching the people!
২৫তারপর কোনও একজন লোক এলো এবং তাদের বলল, “শুনুন, যে লোকেদের আপনারা কারাগারে রেখেছিলেন তারা মন্দিরে দাঁড়িয়ে লোকদের উপদেশ দিচ্ছেন”
26 Then, the captain with the officers, departing, brought them—not with violence, —for they were afraid of the people, lest they should be stoned;
২৬তখন উপাসনা ঘরের রক্ষী বাহিনীর প্রধান সেনাপতি তার সেনাদের নিয়ে সেখানে গেল ও প্রেরিতদের নিয়ে এল কিন্তু তারা কোনোরকম জোর করল না, কারণ তারা লোকদের ভয় করত যে লোকেরা হয়ত তাদের পাথর ছুঁড়ে মেরে ফেলবে।
27 But, leading them in, set them in the high- council. And the High-priest questioned them,
২৭পরে তারা প্রেরিতদের মহাসভায় এনে দাঁড় করালেন, মহাযাজক প্রেরিতদের জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করলেন,
28 Saying—Strictly, did we charge you not to be teaching upon this name; and lo! ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and are minded to bring down upon us, the blood of this man.
২৮বললেন, “আমরা যীশুর নামে শিক্ষা দিতে দৃঢ়ভাবে আদেশ দিয়েছিলাম, তা সত্বেও দেখ, তোমরা তোমাদের শিক্ষায় যিরূশালেম পূর্ণ করেছ এবং সেই ব্যক্তির রক্তের দায়ে আমাদের দোষী করতে চাইছ।”
29 But Peter and the Apostles, answering, said—It is needful to be yielding obedience unto God rather than unto men: —
২৯কিন্তু পিতর এবং অন্য প্রেরিতরা বলল, “আমাদের মানুষের থেকে বরং ঈশ্বরের আজ্ঞাকে মেনে চলতে হবে!
30 The God of our fathers, hath raised up Jesus, —whom, ye, got into your hands, suspending him upon a tree: —
৩০আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সেই যীশুকে উত্থাপিত করেছেন, যাকে আপনারা ক্রুশে টাঙিয়ে হত্যা করেছেন।
31 Him, as Princely-leader and Saviour, hath God exalted unto his right hand, —to give repentance unto Israel, and remission of sins.
৩১ঈশ্বর যীশুকেই রাজপুত্র ও ত্রাণকর্ত্তারূপে উন্নত করে তাঁর ডান হাত দিয়ে স্থাপন করেছেন, যেন ইস্রায়েলকে মন পরিবর্তন ও পাপের ক্ষমা দান করেন।
32 And, we, are witnesses of these things, —also the Holy Spirit, which God hath given unto them who are yielding obedience unto him.
৩২এসব বিষয়ের আমরাও সাক্ষী এবং পবিত্র আত্মাও সাক্ষী, যে আত্মা ঈশ্বর আপন আজ্ঞাবাহকদের দিয়েছেন”
33 And, they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and were making up their minds to slay them.
৩৩এই কথা শুনে তারা ক্রোধে উন্মত্ব হলেন ও প্রেরিতদের মেরে ফেলার জন্য মনস্থ করলেন।
34 But a certain man, rising up in the high-council, by name Gamaliel, a law-teacher honoured by all the people, gave orders to put the men, outside, for a little, —
৩৪কিন্তু মহাসভায় গমলীয়েল নামে এক ফরীশী ছিলেন, ইনি ব্যবস্থা গুরু, যাকে লোকেরা মান্য করত, তিনি উঠলেন এবং প্রেরিতদের কিছুক্ষণের জন্য বাইরে নিয়ে যাওয়ার আজ্ঞা দিলেন।
35 And said unto them—Men of Israel! be taking heed unto yourselves, what ye are about to inflict upon these men.
৩৫পরে প্রহরীরা প্রেরিতদের বাইরে নিয়ে যাওয়ার পর, তিনি বললেন, “হে, ইস্রায়েলের লোকেরা, তোমরা সেই লোকেদের নিয়ে কি করতে উদ্যত হয়েছ, সে বিষয়ে মনোযোগী হও।”
36 For, before these days, there rose up one Theudas, affirming, himself, to be somebody, —unto whom was inclined a number of men, about four hundred; who was slain, and, all as many as had been trusting in him, were disbanded, and came to nothing.
৩৬ইতিপূর্বে থুদা নামে একজন নিজেকে মহান বলে দাবী করেছিল এবং কমবেশি চারশো জন লোক তার সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়েছিল; সে নিহত হলে পর তার অনুগামীরা সব ছড়িয়ে পড়ল, কেউই থাকলো না।
37 After him, rose up Judas the Galilaean, in the days of the enrolling, and drew a people into revolt after him; and, he, perished, and, all, as many as had trusted in him, were scattered.
৩৭সেই ব্যক্তির পর লোক গণনা করার দিন গালীলীয় যিহূদা উদয় হয় ও কতকগুলি লোককে নিজের দলে টানে, পরে সেও নিহত হয়, আর তার অনুগামীরাও ছড়িয়ে পড়ে
38 Now, therefore, I say unto you—stand aloof from these men, and let them alone; because if, of men, be this project or this work, it will be overthrown, —
৩৮এখন আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমরা ওই লোকদের থেকে দূরে থাক এবং তাদের ছেড়ে দাও, যদি এই মন্ত্রণা বা কাজ মানুষের থেকে হয়ে থাকে, তবে তা ব্যর্থ হবে।
39 But, if it is, of God, ye will not be able to overthrow them: lest once, even fighters against God, ye be found.
৩৯কিন্তু যদি ঈশ্বর থেকে হয়ে থাকে, তবে তাদের বন্ধ করা তোমাদের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়, হয়তো দেখা যাবে যে, তোমরা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছ।
40 And they were persuaded by him; and, calling unto them the Apostles, they, with beating, charged them not be speaking upon the name of Jesus; and let them go.
৪০তখন তারা গমলীয়েলের কথায় একমত হলেন, আর প্রেরিতদের ডেকে এনে প্রহার করলেন এবং যীশুর নামে কোনোও কথা না বলতে নির্দেশ দিলেন এবং তাদেরকে ছেড়ে দিলেন।
41 They, therefore, went rejoicing from the presence of the high-council; in that they had been accounted worthy, in behalf of The Name, to suffer dishonour.
৪১তখন প্রেরিতেরা মহাসভা থেকে আনন্দ করতে করতে চলে গেলেন, কারণ তারা যীশুর নামের জন্য অপমানিত হওয়ার যোগ্য বলে বিবেচিত হয়েছিল।
42 And, every day in the temple, and at home, they ceased not to be teaching, and telling the good news as to the Anointed Jesus.
৪২তারপর প্রত্যেক দিন, প্রেরিতেরা উপাসনা ঘরে ও বাড়িতে বাড়িতে অনবরত যীশু খ্রীষ্টের সুসমাচার প্রচার করতে লাগলেন।
