Acts 11
1 Now the Apostles and the brethren who were throughout Judaea heard that, the nations also, had welcomed the word of God.
Men apostlarna och de bröder som voro i Judeen fingo höra att också hedningarna hade tagit emot Guds ord.
2 And, when Peter came up unto Jerusalem, they of the circumcision began to find fault with him,
När så Petrus kom upp till Jerusalem, begynte de som voro omskurna gå till rätta med honom;
3 Saying—he went in unto men uncircumcised, and did eat with them.
de sade: »Du har ju besökt oomskurna män och ätit med dem.»
4 But Peter, making a beginning, went on to set forth the matter unto them in order, saying—
Då begynte Petrus från början och omtalade för dem allt i följd och ordning; han sade:
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and saw in a trance, a vision: —coming down a sort of vessel, like a large sheet, by four corners, being let down out of heaven, and it came even unto me:
»Jag var i staden Joppe, stadd i bön; då såg jag under hänryckning i en syn någonting komma ned, som liknade en stor linneduk, vilken fasthölls vid de fyra hörnen och sänktes ned från himmelen; och det kom ända ned till mig.
6 Into which steadfastly looking, began to observe, and saw the quadrupeds of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the birds of heaven.
Och jag betraktade det och gav akt därpå; då fick jag däri se fyrfota djur, sådana som leva på jorden, tama och vilda, så ock krälande djur och himmelens fåglar.
7 Moreover heard a voice also, saying unto me—Rise, Peter! slay and eat.
Jag hörde ock en röst säga till mig: 'Stå upp, Petrus, slakta och ät.'
8 But I said—By no means, Lord, because, a common or unclean thing, hath at no time entered into my mouth.
Men jag svarade: 'Bort det, Herre! Aldrig har något oheligt eller orent kommit i min mun.'
9 And a voice answered, a second time, out of heaven—What things, God, hath cleansed, be not, thou, making common.
För andra gången talade en röst från himmelen: 'Vad Gud har förklarat för rent, det må du icke hålla för oheligt.'
10 And, this, took place thrice, —and the whole was drawn up again into heaven;
Detta skedde tre gånger efter varandra; sedan drogs alltsammans åter upp till himmelen.
11 And lo! immediately, three men halted at the house wherein we were, sent from Caesarea unto me.
Och i detsamma kommo tre män, som hade blivit sända till mig från Cesarea, och stannade framför huset där vi voro.
12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. And there went with me these six brethren also; and we entered into the house of the man,
Och Anden sade till mig att jag skulle följa med dem, utan att göra någon åtskillnad mellan folk och folk. Också de sex bröder som äro här kommo med mig; och vi gingo in i mannens hus.
13 And he related to us how he had seen the messenger in his house, standing, and saying—Send away unto Joppa, and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter;
Och han berättade för oss huru han hade sett ängeln träda in i hans hus, och att denne hade sagt: 'Sänd åstad till Joppe och låt hämta Simon, som ock kallas Petrus.
14 Who shall speak words unto thee, whereby thou shall be saved, thou, and all thy house.
Han skall tala till dig ord genom vilka du skall bliva frälst, du själv och hela ditt hus.'
15 And, as I began to be speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as upon us also at the beginning.
Och när jag hade begynt tala, föll den helige Ande på dem, alldeles såsom det under den första tiden skedde med oss.
16 And I was put in mind of the word of the Lord, how he used to say—John, indeed, immersed with water; but, ye, shall be immersed in Holy Spirit.
Då kom jag ihåg Herrens ord, huru han hade sagt: 'Johannes döpte med vatten, men I skolen bliva döpta i helig ande.'
17 If therefore the like free-gift God gave unto them, as even unto us, when we had believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, who was, I, that could withstand God?
Då alltså Gud åt dem hade givit samma gåva som åt oss, som hava kommit till tro på Herren Jesus Kristus, huru skulle då jag hava kunnat sätta mig emot Gud?»
18 And, having heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying—Hence, even unto the nations, God hath granted repentance unto life.
När de hade hört detta, gåvo de sig till freds och prisade Gud och sade: »Så har då Gud också åt hedningarna förlänat den bättring som för till liv.»
19 They, therefore, who had been scattered abroad by reason of the tribulation that took place on account of Stephen, passed through as far as Phoenice and Cyprus and Antioch, unto no one speaking the word, save alone unto Jews.
De som hade blivit kringspridda genom den förföljelse som utbröt för Stefanus' skull drogo emellertid omkring ända till Fenicien och Cypern och Antiokia, men förkunnade icke ordet för andra än för judar.
20 And there were some from among them, Cyprians and Cyrenians, who, indeed, coming unto Antioch, began speaking, even unto the Grecian Jews, announcing the glad tidings as to the Lord Jesus;
Dock funnos bland dem några män från Cypern och Cyrene, som när de kommo till Antiokia, också talade till grekerna och för dem förkunnade evangelium om Herren Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number—they who believed—turned unto the Lord.
Och Herrens hand var med dem, och en stor skara kom till tro och omvände sig till Herren.
22 And the matter was reported in the hearing of the assembly that was in Jerusalem, concerning them; and they sent forth Barnabas, as far as Antioch;
Ryktet härom nådde församlingen i Jerusalem; och de sände då Barnabas till Antiokia.
23 Who, arriving, and seeing the favour which was of God, rejoiced, and went on to beseech all, with the purpose of their heart, to abide [in] the Lord;
När han kom dit och fick se vad Guds nåd hade verkat, blev han glad och förmanade dem alla att med hjärtats fasta föresats stadigt hålla sig till Herren.
24 Because he was a good man, and full of Holy Spirit and faith; and a considerable multitude were added unto the Lord.
Ty han var en god man och full av helig ande och tro. Och ganska mycket folk blev ytterligare fört till Herren.
25 He went away, however, unto Tarsus, to seek up Saul;
Sedan begav han sig åstad till Tarsus för att uppsöka Saulus.
26 And, finding him, he brought him unto Antioch. And so it was with them, that, for a whole year, they were brought together in the assembly, and taught a considerable multitude; also that the disciples, first in Antioch, were called, Christians.
Och när han hade träffat honom, tog han honom med sig till Antiokia. Ett helt år hade de sedan sin umgängelse inom församlingen och undervisade ganska mycket folk. Och det var i Antiokia som lärjungarna först begynte kallas »kristna».
27 Now, in these days, there came down from Jerusalem, prophets, unto Antioch.
Vid den tiden kommo några profeter från Jerusalem ned till Antiokia.
28 And one from among them, by name Agabus, rising up, gave a sign, through means of the Spirit, that, a great famine, was coming over all the inhabited earth; which, indeed, came to pass under Claudius.
Och en av dem, vid namn Agabus, trädde upp och gav genom Andens ingivelse till känna att en stor hungersnöd skulle komma över hela världen; den kom också på Klaudius' tid.
29 And, according as any one of the disciples was being prospered, they each one of them set apart [something] for ministering, to send unto the brethren, who dwelt in Jerusalem; —
Då bestämde lärjungarna att de, var och en efter sin förmåga, skulle sända något till understöd åt de bröder som bodde i Judeen.
30 Which thing they also did, sending it unto the Elders, through the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
Detta gjorde de också, och genom Barnabas och Saulus översände de det till de äldste.
