2 Samuel 5

1 Then came all the tribes of Israel unto David, in Hebron, —and spake, saying—Behold us! thy bone and thy flesh, we are.

Alors toutes les Tribus d'Israël vinrent vers David à Hébron, et lui parlèrent, en disant: Voici, nous sommes tes os et ta chair.

2 Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou, wast he that led out and brought in, Israel, —and Yahweh said to thee—Thou, shalt be shepherd unto my people, Israel, and, thou, shalt become leader over Israel.

Et même auparavant, quand Saül était Roi sur nous, tu étais celui qui menais et qui ramenais Israël; et de plus l'Eternel t'a dit: Tu paîtras mon peuple d'Israël, et tu seras Conducteur d'Israël.

3 So all the elders of Israel came unto the king, in Hebron, and King David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel.

Tous les Anciens donc d'Israël vinrent vers le Roi à Hébron; et le Roi David traita alliance avec eux à Hébron devant l'Eternel; et ils oignirent David pour Roi sur Israël.

4 Thirty years old, was David when he began to reign, —forty years, he reigned:

David était âgé de trente ans quand il commença à régner, [et] il régna quarante ans.

5 in Hebron, reigned he over Judah, seven years, and six months, —and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

Il régna à Hébron sur Juda sept ans et six mois; puis il régna trente-trois ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël et Juda.

6 Then went the king and his men, to Jerusalem, against the Jebusites, inhabiting the land, —and they spake to David, saying—Thou canst not come in hither, unless thou take away the blind and lame—Thinking, David will not come in hither.

Or le Roi s'en alla avec ses gens à Jérusalem contre les Jébusiens qui habitaient en ce pays-là, lesquels dirent à David: Tu n'entreras point ici que tu n'aies ôté les aveugles et les boiteux; voulant dire, David n'entrera point ici.

7 So then David captured the citadel of Zion, —the same, is the city of David.

Néanmoins David prit la forteresse de Sion, qui est la Cité de David.

8 And David said, on that day—Whosoever is smiting the Jebusites, then let him reach as far as the aqueduct. But, as for the lame and the blind, they were the hated of David’s soul, —for which cause, they kept on saying, Blind and lame! he will not enter the place.

Or David avait dit en ce jour-là: Quiconque aura battu les Jébusiens, et aura atteint le canal, et les aveugles et les boiteux qui sont haïs de l'âme de David, [sera récompensé]. C'est pourquoi on dit: Aucun aveugle ni boiteux n'entrera dans cette maison.

9 So then David dwelt in the citadel, and called it, The City of David, —and David built round about, from Millo and inwards.

Et David habita dans la forteresse, et l'appela la Cité de David; et David y bâtit tout alentour, depuis Millo jusqu'au dedans.

10 And David went on and on waxing great, —Yahweh, God of hosts, being with him.

Et David faisait toujours des progrès; car l'Eternel le Dieu des armées était avec lui.

11 Then Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers unto David, with cedar-wood, and carpenters, and masons, and they built a house for David.

Hiram aussi Roi de Tyr envoya des messagers à David, et du bois de cèdre, et des charpentiers, et des tailleurs de pierres à bâtir; et ils bâtirent la maison de David.

12 So David perceived that Yahweh had established him to be king over Israel, —and that he had exalted his kingdom, for the sake of his people Israel.

Et David connut que l'Eternel l'avait affermi Roi sur Israël, et qu'il avait élevé son Royaume, à cause de son peuple d'Israël.

13 And David took him yet more concubines and wives, out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron, and there were, yet further, born unto David, sons and daughters.

Et David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu'il fut venu d'Hébron, et il lui naquit encore des fils et des filles.

14 Now, these, are the names of the sons who were born unto him in Jerusalem, —Shammua and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon;

Et ce sont ici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem, Sammuah, et Sobab, et Nathan, et Salomon,

15 and Ibhar and Elishua and Nepheg and Yaphia;

Et Jibhar, et Elisuah, et Népheg, et Japhiah,

16 and Elishama and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

Et Elisama, et Eljadah, et Eliphelet.

17 And, when the Philistine heard that they had anointed David to be king over Israel, then came up all the Philistines to seek to secure David, and David heard of it, and went down into the citadel.

r quand les Philistins eurent appris qu'on avait oint David pour Roi sur Israël, ils montèrent tous pour chercher David; et David l'ayant appris, descendit vers la forteresse.

18 Now, the Philistines, had come, —and had spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.

Et les Philistins vinrent, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Réphaïms.

19 So then David enquired of Yahweh, saying, —Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said unto David—Go up; for I, will surely deliver, the Philistines into thy hand.

Alors David consulta l'Eternel, en disant: Monterai-je contre les Philistins? les livreras-tu entre mes mains? et l'Eternel répondit à David: Monte, car certainement je livrerai les Philistins entre tes mains.

20 And David entered Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said—Yahweh hath broken forth upon mine enemies, before me, like a breaking forth of waters. For this cause, called he the name of that place, Baal-perazim.

Alors David vint en Bahal-pératsim, et les battit là, et il dit: L'Eternel a fait écouler mes ennemis devant moi, comme par un débordement d'eaux; c'est pourquoi il nomma ce lieu-là, Bahal-pératsim.

21 And they left their images there, —and David and his men took them away.

Et ils laissèrent là leurs faux dieux, lesquels David et ses gens emportèrent.

22 And, yet again, did the Philistines come up, —and they spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.

Et les Philistins montèrent encore une autre fois, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Réphaïms.

23 So David enquired of Yahweh, and he said—Thou shalt not go up, —Get round behind them, and come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees.

Et David consulta l'Eternel, qui répondit: Tu ne monteras point; [mais] tu tourneras derrière eux, et iras contr'eux vis-à-vis des meuriers.

24 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou act with decision, —for, then, will Yahweh have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

Et quand tu entendras sur le sommet des meuriers un bruit comme de gens qui marchent, alors remue-toi; parce que l'Eternel sera sorti alors devant toi pour battre le camp des Philistins.

25 And David did so, as Yahweh had commanded him, —and smote the Philistines, from Gibeon until thou enterest Gezer.

David donc fit ainsi que l'Eternel lui avait commandé; et battit les Philistins depuis Guébah jusqu'à Guézer.
