< 2 Samuel 22 >
1 And David spake unto Yahweh, the words of this song, in the day when Yahweh had rescued him, out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul;
Daawit yommuu Waaqayyo harka diinota isaa hundaa fi harka Saaʼol jalaa isa baasetti dubbii Faarfannaa kana Waaqayyoof faarfate.
2 and he said, —Yahweh, was my mountain crag and my stronghold, and my deliverer—mine;
Innis akkana jedhe: “Waaqayyo kattaa koo ti; daʼannoo kootii fi oolchaa koo ti;
3 My God, was my rock, I sought refuge in him, —My shield, and my horn of salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, My Saviour! from violence, thou didst save me.
Waaqni koo kattaa koo kan ani kooluu itti galuu dha; inni gaachana kootii fi gaanfa fayyina koo ti. Inni daʼannoo koo cimaa, kooluu kootii fi fayyisaa koo ti; ati namoota humnaan namatti kaʼan jalaas na baasta.
4 As one worthy to be praised, called I on Yahweh, —And, from my foes, was I saved.
“Ani Waaqayyo galanni isaaf malu sana nan waammadha; diinota koo jalaas nan baraarama.
5 When the breakers of death had encompassed me, —the torrents of perdition, made me afraid, —
Dambaliin duʼaa na marseera; lolaan badiisaas na liqimseera.
6 the meshes of hades, had surrounded me, —the snares of death had confronted me, (Sheol )
Funyoon siiʼool natti marame; kiyyoon duʼaas natti dhufe. (Sheol )
7 In my distress, called I on Yahweh, Yea, unto my God, did I call, —and he hearkened, out of his temple, unto my voice, and, my cry for help, was in his ears!
“Ani dhiphina koo keessatti Waaqayyoon nan waammadhe; Waaqa kootti nan iyyadhe. Innis mana qulqullummaa isaatii sagalee koo dhagaʼe; iyyi koos gurra isaa seene.
8 Then did the earth shake and quake, the foundations of the heavens, were deeply moved, —yea they did shake, because he was angry,
Lafti ni hollatte; ni sochootes; hundeewwan samiiwwanii ni raafaman; sababii inni dheekkameefis isaan ni hollatan.
9 There went up a smoke in his nostrils, and, a fire out of his mouth, devoured, —live coals, were kindled from it:
Aarri funyaan isaatii ol baʼe; ibiddi waa barbadeessu afaan isaatii baʼe; cileen bobaʼus afaan isaatii baʼe.
10 Then he stretched out the heavens, and came down, —and, thick gloom, was under his feet;
Inni samiiwwan tarsaasee gad buʼe; duumessoonni gurraachis miilla isaa jala turan.
11 Then he rode on a cherub, and flew, —and was seen on the wings of the wind;
Inni kiirubeelin yaabbatee barrise; qoochoo qilleensaatiinis ol baʼe.
12 And made of the darkness around him, pavilions, —gathering of waters, clouds of vapours.
Inni dukkana, duumessa samii kan bokkaadhaan dukkanaaʼe immoo godoo isaa godhate.
13 Out of the brightness before him, were kindled live coals of fire;
Ifa fuula isaa keessaas bakakkaan balaqqisee baʼe.
14 Thunder from the heavens, did Yahweh give forth, —yea, the Highest, uttered his voice;
Waaqayyo samiidhaa ni qaqawweessaʼe; sagaleen Waaqa Waan Hundaa Oliis ni dhagaʼame.
15 And he sent forth arrows, and scattered them, —lightning, and confused them;
Inni xiyya isaa darbatee diinota bittinneesse; bakakkaas gad dhiisee isaan fixe.
16 Then appeared the channels of the sea, were uncovered the foundations of the world, —at the rebuke of Yahweh, the blast of the breath of his nostrils;
Dheekkamsa, Waaqayyootiin humna hafuura funyaan isaatii baʼuutiinis sululawwan galaanaa ifatti baafaman; hundeewwan lafaas qullaa hafan.
17 He sent from on high, he took me, —he drew me out of many waters;
“Inni ol gubbaadhaa gad hiixatee na qabe; bishaanota gad fagoo keessaas na baase.
18 He rescued me from my foe, in his might, —from them who hated me, because they were too strong for me:
Inni diina koo isa jabaa jalaa, amajaajota koo warra akka malee natti ciman jalaas na baase.
19 They confronted me, in the day of my necessity, —then became Yahweh my stay:
Isaan guyyaa rakkina kootti natti dhufan; Waaqayyo garuu gargaarsa koo ture.
20 And brought out, into a large place, even me, —he delivered me, because he delighted in me:
Inni iddoo balʼaatti na baase; waan natti gammadeefis na oolche.
21 Yahweh rewarded me, according to my righteousness—according to the cleanness of my hands, he repaid me:
“Waaqayyo akkuma qajeelummaa kootiitti naa kenneera; akkuma qulqullina harka koottis na badhaase.
22 For I had kept the ways of Yahweh, —and not broken away from my God;
Ani karaa Waaqayyoo eegeeraatii; Waaqa koo irraa garagalee hammina hin hojjenne.
23 For, all his regulations, were before me, —and, as for his statutes, I turned not from them.
Seerri isaa hundinuu fuula koo dura jira; anis ajaja isaa irraa hin jalʼanne.
24 So became I blameless towards him, —and kept myself from mine iniquity:
Ani fuula isaa duratti mudaa hin qabu ture; cubbuu irraas of eeggadheera.
25 Yahweh therefore repaid me, according to my righteousness, —according to my pureness before his eyes.
Waaqayyo akkuma qajeelumma kootti, akkuma ani fuula isaa duratti qulqulluu taʼettis na badhaaseera.
26 With the loving, thou didst show thyself loving, —with the blameless hero, thou didst show thyself blameless;
“Ati nama amanamaatti amanamummaa kee argisiifta; nama mudaa hin qabnettis kan mudaa hin qabne taata;
27 With the pure, thou didst show thyself pure, —but, with the perverse, thou didst shew thyself ready to contend:
nama qulqulluutti qulqulluu taata; nama jalʼaatti immoo jalʼaa taata.
28 And, a patient people, thou didst save, —but, thine eyes, were on the lofty—thou layedst them low;
Ati warra gad of qaban ni oolchita; warra of tuulan immoo gad deebisuuf iji kee isaan ilaala.
29 For, thou, wast my lamp, O Yahweh, —and, Yahweh, enlightened my darkness;
Yaa Waaqayyo, ati ibsaa koo ti; Waaqayyo dukkana koo ifatti ni geeddara.
30 For, by thee, I ran through a troop, —by my God, I leapt over a wall.
Ani gargaarsa keetiin loltoota dhiibbadhee nan deema; Waaqa kootiinis dallaa utaaluu nan dandaʼa.
31 As for God, blameless is his way, —the speech of Yahweh, hath been proved, a shield, he is to all who seek refuge in him.
“Waaqa kana, karaan isaa mudaa hin qabu; dubbiin Waaqayyoo hirʼina hin qabu. Warra isatti kooluu galan hundaaf inni gaachana taʼa.
32 For who is a GOD, save Yahweh? and who a Rock, save our God?
Waaqayyo malee Waaqni eenyu? Waaqa keenya malees Kattaan eenyu?
33 GOD, is my fortress of strength, —and shewed to the blameless his way;
Kan humna na hidhachiisu, kan akka karaan koos nagaa taʼu godhu Waaqa.
34 Planting my feet like the hinds’, —yea, on my high places, he caused me to stand;
Inni miilla koo akka miilla borofaa godha; iddoo ol dheeraa irras na dhaabachiisa.
35 Teaching my hands, to war, —so that a bow of bronze was bent by mine arms;
Inni harka koo waraanaaf leenjisa; irreen koos iddaa naasii dabsuu ni dandaʼa.
36 Thus didst thou grant me, as a shield, thy salvation, —and, thy condescension, made me great.
Ati gargaarsa kee kan nama fayyisu gaachana naaf goota; gargaarsi kees nama guddaa na godhe.
37 Thou didst widen my stepping-places, under me, —so that mine ankles faltered not:
Akka koomeen koo hin mucucaanneef, miilla kootiif daandii balʼifteerta.
38 I pursued my foes, and destroyed them, —and returned not, till they were consumed;
“Ani diinota koo ariʼee nan balleesse; hamma isaan barbadaaʼanittis ani duubatti hin deebine.
39 So I consumed them, and crushed them, and they rose not again, —thus fell they under my feet:
Ani guutumaan guutuutti isaan nan barbadeesse; isaan deebiʼanii kaʼuu hin dandaʼan; isaanis miilla koo jalatti ni kufan.
40 Thus didst thou gird me with strength, for the battle, —thou subduedst mine assailants under me:
Ati lolaaf humna na hidhachiifte; amajaajota koos fuula koo duratti gad deebifte.
41 And, as for my foes, thou didst give me their neck, —yea, them who hated me, that I might destroy them:
Akka diinonni koo dugda duubatti deebiʼanii baqatan gooteerta; anis amajaajota koo barbadeesseera.
42 They cried out, but there was none to save, —unto Yahweh, but he answered them not.
Isaan gargaarsaaf iyyan; garuu kan isaan oolchu tokko iyyuu hin turre; gara Waaqayyoottis ni iyyatan; inni garuu deebii hin kennineef.
43 Then did I beat them in pieces, like the dust of the earth, —like the clay of the lanes, did I crush them, stamp them down.
Anis akkuma awwaara lafaatti isaan nan daake; bulleessees akkuma dhoqqee daandii irraatti isaan dhidhiite.
44 Thus didst thou rescue me from the contentions of my people, didst keep me to be the head of nations: —a people whom I had not known, served me;
“Ati lola namootaa jalaa na baafteerta; mataa sabootaa gootee na jiraachifteerta. Sabni ani hin beekne na tajaajila;
45 The sons of the foreigner, came cringing unto me, —at the hearing of the ear, they submitted to me, —
namoonni ormaa na sossobatan; isaan akkuma waaʼee koo dhagaʼaniin naaf ajajaman.
46 The sons of the foreigner, were disheartened, and came quaking, out of their fortresses.
Isaan hundi abdii kutatan; hollachaas daʼannoo isaanii jabaa keessaa baʼan.
47 Yahweh liveth, and blessed be my rock, —and exalted be the God (of the rock) of my salvation: —
“Waaqayyo jiraataa dha! Kattaan koo haa eebbifamu! Waaqni koo, Kattaan, Fayyisaan koo ol ol haa jedhu!
48 The GOD who hath avenged me, and brought down peoples under me;
Inni Waaqa haaloo naa baasu, kan sabootas na jala galchu,
49 And brought me forth from among my foes, —yea, from mine assailants, hast thou set me on high, from the man of violence, hast thou delivered me.
kan diinota koo jalaas bilisa na baasuu dha. Ati amajaajota kootii ol na goota; gooltota jalaas na baafte.
50 For this cause, will I praise thee, O Yahweh, among the nations, —and, to thy name, will I touch the strings: —
Kanaafuu yaa Waaqayyo, ani saboota gidduutti sin leellisa; faarfannaa galataa illee maqaa keetiif nan faarfadha.
51 Who hath made great the victories of his King, —and shown lovingkindness to his Anointed One, to David and to his Seed, unto times age-abiding.
“Inni moʼannaawwan gurguddaa mootii isaatiif ni kenna; dibamaa isaa Daawitii fi sanyii isaatiif, araara bara baraa ni argisiisa.”
