2 Samuel 11

1 And it came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time of the going forth of kings, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel, and they destroyed the sons of Ammon, and laid siege to Rabbah, —but, David, was remaining in Jerusalem.

Nahitabo kini panahon sa tingpamulak, sa panahon nga ang mga hari moadto sa gubat, nga gipadala ni David si Joab, ang iyang mga sulugoon, ug ang tanang kasundalohan sa Israel. Gibuntog nila ang kasundalohan sa Ammon ug gilibotan ang Rabba. Apan nagpabilin si David sa Jerusalem.

2 And it came to pass that, at eventide, David arose from his couch, and walked to and fro on the roof of the king’s house, when, from the roof, he saw a woman bathing herself, —the woman being exceeding beautiful to look upon.

Busa miabot ang usa ka kagabhion nga mibangon si David gikan sa iyang higdaanan ug naglakawlakaw sa atop sa iyang palasyo. Gikan didto nakakita siya ug babaye nga naligo, ug maanyag kaayo nga lantawon ang maong babaye.

3 And David sent and enquired after the woman, —and one said—Is not, this, Bath-sheba, daughter of Eliam, wife of Uriah the Hittite?

Busa nagsugo si David ug tawo aron mangutana kung kinsa ang nakaila sa maong babaye. Adunay miingon, “Dili ba si Batseba man kini, ang anak nga babaye ni Eliam, ug dili ba siya man ang asawa ni Uria nga Hitihanon?”

4 And David sent messengers, and fetched her, and she came in unto him, and he lay with her, she having purified herself from her uncleanness, —and she returned unto her own house.

Nagpadala ug mga mensahero si David sa pagkuha kaniya; miadto siya kaniya, ug nakigdulog siya kaniya (tungod kay mao palay paghinlo niya sa iyang kaugalingon gikan sa pagregla). Unya mibalik siya sa iyang balay.

5 And the woman, having conceived, sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

Namabdos ang babaye, ug nagsugo siya ngadto kang David sa pagsulti; nga nag-ingon, “Mabdos ako.”

6 Then sent David unto Joab, Send unto me Uriah the Hittite. So Joab sent Uriah unto David.

Unya nagpadala si David ngadto kang Joab ug mensahero nga nag-ingon, “Ipadala kanako si Uria nga Hitihanon.” Busa gipadala ni Joab si Uria kang David.

7 And, when Uriah had come in unto him, David asked—how Joab prospered, and how the people prospered, and how the war prospered.

Sa pag-abot ni Uria, nangutana si David kaniya mahitungod sa kahimtang ni Joab, unsa na ang kahimtang sa kasundalohan, ug kung unsa na usab ang kahimtang sa pakiggubat.

8 Then said David unto Uriah, Go down unto thy house, and bathe thy feet. And, when Uriah went out of the house of the king, there followed him, a present from the king.

Miingon si David kang Uria, “Lugsong sa imong balay ug hugasi ang imong mga tiil.” Busa mibiya si Uria sa palasyo sa hari, ug sa pagbiya ni Uria sa palasyo nagpadala ang hari ug gasa alang kaniya.

9 But Uriah slept at the entrance of the king’s house, with all the servants of his lord, —and went not down unto his own house.

Apan natulog hinoon si Uria sa pultahan sa palasyo sa hari uban ang tanan nga mga sulugoon sa iyang agalon, ug wala siya milugsong sa iyang balay.

10 And it was told David, saying, Uriah went not down, unto his own house. So David said unto Uriah—Was it not, from a journey, thou didst come? why, then, hast thou not been down unto thine own house?

Sa dihang gisultihan nila si David, “Wala nilugsong si Uria sa iyang balay,” Miingon si David kang Uria, “Dili ba gikan ka man sa panaw? Nganong wala ka man milugsong sa imong balay?”

11 And Uriah said unto David—The ark, and Israel and Judah, are dwelling in huts and, my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, on the face of the field, are encamped, Was, I, then, to enter my own house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? By thy life, yea by the life of thy soul, I could not do this thing.

Mitubag si Uria kang David, “Ang sudlanan sa kasabotan, ug ang Israel ug ang Juda nagpuyo didto sa mga tolda, ug ang akong agalon nga si Joab ug ang mga sulugoon sa akong agalon anaa sa kampo sa hawan nga dapit. Unsaon ko man pag-adto sa akong balay aron sa pagkaon ug pag-inom ug pagdulog sa akong asawa? Ingon nga buhi ka, dili ko kini buhaton.”

12 Then said David unto Uriah—Abide here to-day also, and, to-morrow, will I let thee go. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.

Busa miingon si David kang Uria, “Pabilin usab dinhi karong adlawa, ug ugma ko na ikaw palakwon.” Busa nagpabilin si Uria sa Jerusalem nianang adlawa ug sa sunod pa nga adlaw.

13 And David called him, and he did eat before him, and drank, and he made him drunk, —and he went forth in the evening to lie down on his bed, with the servants of his lord, but, unto his own house, went he not down.

Sa dihang gipatawag siya ni David, mikaon siya ug miinom uban kaniya, ug gihubog siya ni David. Sa pagkagabii natulog si Uria sa iyang higdaanan uban ang mga sulugoon sa iyang agalon; wala siya milugsong sa iyang balay.

14 And so it was, in the morning, that David wrote a letter unto Joab, —and sent it by the hand of Uriah;

Busa sa pagkabuntag nagpadala ug sulat si David kang Joab, ug gipadala kini pinaagi kang Uria.

15 and he wrote in the letter, saying, —Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he be smitten and die.

Nagsulat si David ug sulat nga nag-ingon, “Ibutang si Uria sa atubangan sa nagpungasi nga bahin sa gubat, ug biyai siya aron maigo siya ug mamatay.”

16 So it came to pass, when Joab was laying siege to the city, that he put Uriah in the place where he knew that the men of valour, were.

Busa samtang gilantaw ni Joab ang linya sa mga kasundalohan libot sa siyudad, gibutang niya si Uria sa dapit diin nahibaloan niya nga didto makig-away ang labing kusgan nga mga sundalo.

17 And forth sallied the men of the city, and fought with Joab, and there fell some of the people, of the servants of David, —then died also, Uriah the Hittite.

Sa dihang migawas ang mga kalalakin-an sa siyudad ug nakiggubat batok sa kasundalohan ni Joab, nalaglag ang pipila sa mga kasundalohan ni David, ug lakip na usab didto sa gipatay si Uria nga Hitihanon.

18 So Joab sent and told David all the news of the battle;

Sa dihang nagpadala si Joab ug sulat kang David mahitungod sa gubat,

19 and he charged the messenger saying, —When thou hast ended all the news of the battle, in speaking unto the king,

gisugo niya ang mensahero, nga nag-ingon, “Sa dihang mahuman ka na sa pagsulti sa tanang mga butang mahitungod sa gubat ngadto sa hari,

20 then shall it be, if the king’s anger arise, and he say unto thee, Why came ye near unto the city, to fight? Knew ye not, that they would shoot from off the wall?

tingali ug masuko ang hari, ug mosulti siya kanimo, 'Nganong nagpaduol man kamo pag-ayo sa siyudad sa pakig-away? Wala ba kamo nasayod nga panaon nila kamo gikan sa pader?

21 Who smote Abimelech son of Jerubbaal? Did not, a woman, cast on him an upper millstone from off the wall, that he died, in Thebez? Wherefore came ye near unto the wall? Then shalt thou say—Moreover, thy servant, Uriah the Hittite, died.

Kinsa man ang mipatay kang Abimelek ang anak nga lalaki ni Jerubeset? Dili ba gihulogan man siyag dako nga galingang bato sa usa ka babaye gikan sa pader, mao nga namatay siya sa Tebez? Nganong nagpaduol man kamo pag-ayo sa pader?' Unya kinahanglan nga tubagon mo siya, 'Patay na usab ang imong sulugoon nga si Uria nga Hitihanon.'”

22 And the messenger went his way, —and came in, and told David, all that Joab had sent him [to tell].

Busa mibiya ang mensahero ug miadto kang David ug gisulti ang tanan nga gisugo kaniya.

23 And the messenger said unto David, The men were too strong for us, and sallied forth against us, in the field, —so we were drawn against them as far as the opening of the gate.

Unya ang mensahero miingon kang David, “Mas kusgan ang kaaway kaysa kanato sa permiro; migawas sila ngadto kanamo sa kapatagan, apan napaatras namo sila pabalik sa ganghaan.

24 Then did the archers shoot upon thy servants, from off the wall, and there died some of the servants of the king, —moreover also, thy servant, Uriah the Hittite, died.

Ug gipamana sa ilang tigpamana ang imong mga kasundalohan gikan sa pader, ug pipila sa sulugoon sa hari ang namatay, ug ang imong sulugoon nga si Uria nga usa ka Hitihanon namatay usab.”

25 Then said David unto the messenger—Thus, shalt thou say unto Joab, —Let not this thing be grievous in thine eyes, for, now this one, and then that one, doth the sword devour, —make hot thy battle against the city, and overthrow it; Thus embolden thou him.

Unya miingon si David sa mensahero, “Sultihi si Joab niini, “Ayaw tugoti nga dili kini makapahimuot kanimo, kay ang espada magalamoy sa usa ingon man sa uban. Kusgi pa sa hilabihan ang imong pakiggubat batok sa siyudad, ug pildiha kini.' ug dasiga si Joab.”

26 And, when Uriah’s wife heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made loud lamentation over her lord.

Busa sa dihang nadunggan sa asawa ni Uria nga patay na si Uria nga iyang bana, nagbangutan siya pag-ayo alang sa iyang bana.

27 And, when the time of mourning had passed, David sent and received her into his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing which David had done was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh.

Ug sa dihang milabay na ang iyang pagsubo, gipakuha siya ni David ug gidala sa palasyo, ug giasawa niya siya ug nanganak ug batang lalaki. Apan wala nakapahimuot kang Yahweh ang gibuhat ni David.
