2 Kings 9
1 Now, Elisha the prophet, called one of the sons of the prophets, —and said to him—Gird up thy loins, and take this flask of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead;
Alors Elisée le Prophète appela un d'entre les fils des Prophètes, et lui dit: Trousse tes reins; et prends cette fiole d'huile en ta main, et t'en va à Ramoth de Galaad.
2 and, when thou art come in thither, then look thee out, there, Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi; and thou shalt enter and get him to rise up out of the midst of his brethren, and take him into an inner chamber;
Quand tu y seras entré, regarde où sera Jéhu fils de Josaphat, fils de Nimsi, et y entre, et l'ayant fait lever d'entre ses frères, tu le feras entrer dans quelque chambre secrète.
3 then shalt thou take the flask of oil, and pour out upon his head, and say—Thus, saith Yahweh, I have anointed thee to be king unto Israel! Then shalt thou open the door and flee, and not tarry.
Puis tu prendras la fiole d'huile, tu la verseras sur sa tête, et tu diras: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: Je t'ai oint pour être Roi sur Israël. Après quoi tu ouvriras la porte, tu t'enfuiras, et tu ne t'arrêteras point.
4 So the young man went his way—the young man the prophet—unto Ramoth-gilead.
Ainsi ce jeune homme, qui était le serviteur du Prophète, s'en alla à Ramoth de Galaad.
5 And, when he came up, lo! the captains of the force, sitting, and he said—A word, have I, for thee, O captain! And Jehu said—For which, of us all? And he said, —For thee, O captain!
Et quand il y fut entré, voici, les capitaines de l'armée étaient là assis; et il dit: Capitaine, j'ai à parler à toi. Et Jéhu répondit: A qui de nous tous parles-tu? Et il dit: A toi, Capitaine.
6 Then rose he up and went inside, and poured out the oil upon his head, and said unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, I have anointed thee to be king unto the people of Yahweh, unto Israel;
Alors [Jéhu] se leva, et entra dans la maison; [et le jeune homme] lui versa l'huile sur la tête, et lui dit: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël: Je t'ai oint pour être Roi sur le peuple de l'Eternel; [c'est-à-dire] sur Israël.
7 and thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy lord, —so will I avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yahweh, at the hand of Jezebel;
Et tu frapperas la maison d'Achab ton Seigneur; car je ferai vengeance du sang de mes serviteurs les Prophètes, et du sang de tous les serviteurs de l'Eternel, [en le redemandant] de la main d'Izebel.
8 so shall perish all the house of Ahab, —and I will cut off to Ahab the meanest, both him that is shut up and him that is left at large, in Israel.
Et toute la maison d'Achab périra, et je retrancherai à Achab depuis l'homme jusqu'à un chien, tant ce qui est serré que ce qui est délaissé en Israël.
9 Yea I will deliver up the house of Ahab, like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, —and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah:
Et je mettrai la maison d'Achab au même état que la maison de Jéroboam fils de Nébat, et la maison de Bahasa, fils d'Ahija.
10 And, as for Jezebel, the dogs shall eat [her], in the town-land of Jezreel, there being none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
Les chiens aussi mangeront Izebel au champ de Jizréhel, et il n'y aura personne qui l'ensevelisse; après quoi il ouvrit la porte, et s'enfuit.
11 Then, Jehu, came forth unto the servants of his lord, and one said to him—Is all well? why came this madman unto thee? And he said unto them, Ye, know, the man and his message.
Alors Jéhu sortit vers les serviteurs de son maître, et on lui dit: Tout va-t-il bien? Pourquoi cet insensé est-il venu vers toi? Et il leur répondit: Vous connaissez l'homme, et ce qu'il sait dire.
12 And they said—False! pray tell, us. And he said, —Thus and thus, spake he unto me, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, I have anointed thee to be king unto Israel.
Mais ils dirent: Ce n'est pas cela; déclare nous-le maintenant. Et il répondit: Il m'a dit telle et telle chose; il m'a dit: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, je t'ai oint pour être Roi sur Israël.
13 Then hasted they, and took, every man his garment, and put it under him, upon the very steps, —and blew with a horn, and said, Jehu, is king!
Alors ils se hâtèrent, et prirent chacun leurs vêtements, et les mirent sous lui au plus haut des degrés, et sonnèrent de la trompette, et dirent: Jéhu a été fait Roi.
14 Thus did Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspire against Joram, —when, Joram, was watching Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
Ainsi Jéhu fils de Josaphat, fils de Nimsi se ligua contre Joram. Or Joram avait muni Ramoth de Galaad, lui et tout Israël, de peur d'Hazaël Roi de Syrie.
15 But Jehoram the king had returned to get himself healed in Jezreel, of the wounds wherewith the Syrians had wounded him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. Then said Jehu—If such is your mind, let no fugitive get forth out of the city, to go and tell it in Jezreel.
Et le Roi Joram s'en était retourné pour se faire panser à Jizréhel des plaies que les Syriens lui avaient faites, quand il combattit contre Hazaël Roi de Syrie. Et Jéhu dit: Si vous le trouvez bon, [empêchons] que personne ne sorte ni n'échappe de la ville pour aller porter [cette nouvelle] à Jizréhel.
16 So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went towards Jezreel, for, Joram, was lying there, —and, Ahaziah king of Judah, had come down to see Joram.
Alors Jéhu monta à cheval, et s'en alla à Jizréhel, car Joram était là malade; et Achazia Roi de Juda y était descendu pour visiter Joram.
17 Now, the watchman, was standing upon the tower, in Jezreel, so he saw the great company of Jehu, when he came, and said—A great company, can I see! Then said Jehoram—Take a horseman and send to meet them, that he may say—Is it peace?
Or il y avait une sentinelle sur une tour à Jizréhel, qui voyant venir la troupe de Jéhu dit: Je vois une troupe de gens. Et Joram dit: Prends un homme de cheval, et l'envoie au-devant d'eux, et qu'il dise: Y a-t-il paix?
18 So the horseman went to meet him, and said—Thus, saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said—What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came up to them, but hath not turned back.
Et l'homme de cheval s'en alla au-devant de lui, et dit: Ainsi dit le Roi: Y a-t-il paix? Et Jéhu répondit: Qu'as-tu à faire de paix? Mets-toi derrière moi; et la sentinelle le rapporta, en disant: Le messager est venu jusqu'à eux, et il ne retourne point.
19 Then sent he a second horseman, and he came up to them and said, Thus, saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said—What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
Et il envoya un autre homme de cheval, qui vint à eux, et dit: Ainsi a dit le Roi: Y a-t-il paix? Et Jéhu répondit: Qu'as-tu à faire de paix? Mets-toi derrière moi.
20 And the watchman told, saying, He came up to them, but hath not turned back, —and, the driving, is like the driving of Jehu son of Nimshi; for, with mad haste, doth he drive.
Et la sentinelle le rapporta, et dit: Il est venu jusqu'à eux, et il ne retourne point; mais la démarche est comme la démarche de Jéhu fils de Nimsi; car il marche avec furie.
21 Then said Jehoram, Harness! So one harnessed his chariot, —and Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went forth, each man in his chariot, yea they went forth to meet Jehu, and came upon him in the heritage of Naboth the Jezreelite.
Alors Joram dit: Qu'on attelle; et on attela son chariot. Ainsi Joram Roi d'Israël sortit avec Achazia Roi de Juda, chacun dans son chariot, et ils allèrent pour rencontrer Jéhu, et ils le trouvèrent dans le champ de Naboth Jizréhélite.
22 And it came to pass, when Jehoram saw Jehu, that he said—Is it peace, Jehu? And he said—What can be the peace, while thy mother Jezebel’s harlotries and her incantations do so abound?
Et dès que Joram eut vu Jéhu, il dit: N'y a-t-il pas paix, Jéhu? Et [Jéhu] répondit: Quelle paix, tandis que les paillardises de ta mère Izebel, et ses enchantements seront en si grand nombre?
23 Then Jehoram turned his hands, and fled, —and said unto Ahaziah—Treachery! O Ahaziah!
Alors Joram tourna sa main, et s'enfuit; et dit à Achazia: Achazia, nous sommes trompés.
24 And, Jehu, bent his bow, and smote Jehoram, between his arms, —and the arrow came out at his heart, —and he sank down in his chariot.
Et Jéhu empoigna l'arc à pleine main, et frappa Joram entre ses épaules, de sorte que la flèche sortait au travers de son cœur, et il tomba sur ses genoux dans son chariot.
25 Then said he unto Bidkar his officer, Take [him] up, [and] cast him forth, into the field-portion of Naboth the Jezreelite, —for remember, when I and thou were riding as a couple together after Ahab his father, that, Yahweh, laid upon him this doom:
Et [Jéhu] dit à Bidkar son capitaine: Prends[-le, et] le jette en quelque endroit du champ de Naboth Jizréhélite; car souviens-toi que quand nous étions à cheval moi et toi, l'un près de l'autre, à la suite d'Achab son père, l'Eternel prononça cette charge contre lui;
26 Surely, the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, have I lately seen, declareth Yahweh, therefore will I requite thee in this portion, declareth Yahweh. Now, therefore, take [him] up, [and] cast him forth into the portion, according to the word of Yahweh.
Si je ne vis hier au soir le sang de Naboth, et le sang de ses fils, dit l'Eternel, et si je ne te le rends dans ce champ-ci, dit l'Eternel; c'est pourquoi prends[-le] maintenant et le jette dans ce champ, suivant la parole de l'Eternel.
27 And, Ahaziah king of Judah, saw it, and fled by the way of the garden house, —and Jehu pursued him, and said—Him also! smite him in the chariot! It was in the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Mepidgo, and died there.
Or Achazia Roi de Juda ayant vu cela, s'était enfui par le chemin de la maison du jardin; mais Jéhu l'avait poursuivi, et avait dit: Frappez aussi celui-ci sur le chariot. Ce fut dans la montée de Gur qui est auprès de Jibleham; puis il s'enfuit à Meguiddo, et mourut là.
28 And his servants conveyed him in a chariot and brought him into Jerusalem, —and buried him in his sepulchre, with his fathers, in the city of David.
Et ses serviteurs l'emmenèrent sur un chariot à Jérusalem, et l'ensevelirent dans son sépulcre avec ses pères, en la Cité de David.
29 Now it was, in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab, that Ahaziah began to reign over Judah.
Or l'onzième année de Joram fils d'Achab, Achazia avait commencé à régner sur Juda.
30 Now, when Jehu entered Jezreel and, Jezebel, heard of it, she set her eyes in stibium, and ornamented her head, and looked forth through the lattice.
Et Jéhu vint à Jizréhel, et Izebel ayant appris [que Jéhu venait], farda son visage, orna sa tête, et elle regardait par la fenêtre.
31 So, when, Jehu, had entered in at the gate, she said, Was it peace, when Zimri slew his lord?
Et comme Jéhu entrait dans la porte, elle dit: En a-t-il bien pris à Zimri qui tua son Seigneur?
32 And he lifted up his face unto the lattice, and said—Who, is with me? Who? And there looked out unto him, two or three eunuchs.
Et il leva sa tête vers la fenêtre, et dit: Qui est ici de mes gens? Qui? Alors deux ou trois des Eunuques regardèrent vers lui.
33 And he said—Hurl her down. And they hurled her down, —and there was sprinkled of her blood—upon the wall, and upon the horses, and they trode upon her.
Et il leur dit: Jetez-la en bas. Et ils la jetèrent, de sorte qu'il rejaillit de son sang contre la muraille, et contre les chevaux, et il la foula aux pieds.
34 And, when he had entered and eaten and drunk, he said—Look, I pray you, after this accursed woman, and bury her, for the daughter of a king, she is.
Et étant entré, il mangea, et but; puis il dit: Allez voir maintenant cette maudite-là, et l'ensevelissez, car elle est fille de Roi.
35 So they went to bury her, —but found not of her—save the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands.
Ils s'en allèrent donc pour l'ensevelir; mais ils n'y trouvèrent rien que le crâne, et les pieds, et les paumes des mains.
36 Then came they back, and told him, and he said—The word of Yahweh, it is, which he spake by the hand of his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, saying—In the town-land of Jezreel, shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel!
Et étant retournés ils le lui rapportèrent; et il dit: C'est la parole de l'Eternel laquelle il avait proférée par le moyen de son serviteur Elie Tisbite, en disant: Dans le champ de Jizréhel les chiens mangeront la chair d'Izebel.
37 So shall the carcass of Jezebel become like heaps of dung on the face of the field, in the town-land of Jezreel: So that they cannot say, This, is Jezebel!
Et la charogne d'Izebel sera comme du fumier sur le dessus du champ dans le champ de Jizréhel; de sorte qu'on ne pourra point dire: C'est ici Izebel.
