< 2 Kings 2 >

1 And it came to pass, when Yahweh was about to take up Elijah in a storm into the heavens, that Elijah departed, with Elisha, from Gilgal.
Awo Mukama bwe yali ng’anaatera okutwala Eriya mu ggulu mu mbuyaga ey’amaanyi, nga Eriya ne Erisa bava e Girugaali,
2 Then said Elijah unto Elisha—Tarry here, I pray thee, for, Yahweh, hath sent me as far as Bethel. And Elisha said, By the life of Yahweh and by the life of thine own soul, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
Eriya n’agamba Erisa nti, “Sigala wano, ŋŋende e BeseriMukama gy’antumye.” Naye Erisa n’amuddamu nti, “Mazima nga Mukama bw’ali omulamu, era nga nawe bw’oli omulamu, siireme kugenda naawe.” Awo ne baserengeta bonna e Beseri.
3 And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came forth unto Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that, to-day, Yahweh is taking away thy lord, from thy head? And he said—I also, know, be silent.
Ekibiina ekya bannabbi abaali e Beseri ne bagenda eri Erisa ne bamugamba nti, “Okimanyi nga Mukama anaatwala mukama wo olwa leero?” Erisa n’abaddamu nti, “Nkimanyi, naye temukyogerako.”
4 Then Elijah said to him—Elisha, I pray thee, tarry here, for, Yahweh, hath sent me to Jericho. And he said—By the life of Yahweh and by the life of thine own soul, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
Eriya n’addamu omulundi ogwokubiri n’agamba Erisa nti, “Sigala wano, ŋŋende e Yeriko Mukama gy’antumye.” Naye Erisa n’amuddamu nti, “Mazima nga Mukama bw’ali omulamu, era nga nawe bw’oli omulamu, siireme kugenda naawe.” Awo ne bagenda bonna e Yeriko.
5 Then drew near the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho, unto Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that, to-day, Yahweh is taking away thy lord from thy head? And he said—I also, know; be silent.
Awo ekibiina ekya bannabbi abaali e Yeriko ne batuukirira Erisa ne bamugamba nti, “Okimanyi nga Mukama anaatwala mukama wo olwa leero?” Erisa n’abaddamu nti, “Weewaawo nkimanyi, naye temukyogerako.”
6 And Elijah said to him—Tarry here, I pray thee, for, Yahweh, hath sent me to the Jordan. And he said—By the life of Yahweh and by the life of thine own soul, I will not leave thee. So they two, went on.
Eriya n’addamu nate n’amugamba nti, “Sigala wano, nserengete ku Yoludaani Mukama gy’antumye.” Naye Erisa n’amuddamu nti, “Mazima nga Mukama bw’ali omulamu, era nga nawe bw’oli omulamu, siireme kugenda naawe.” Awo ne batambula bombi.
7 But, fifty men of the sons of the prophets, came, and stood over against them, afar off, —and, they two, stood by the Jordan.
Ne waba ekibiina kya bannabbi amakumi ataano abaali bayimiridde akabanga okuva Eriya ne Erisa we baali ku lubalama lw’omugga Yoludaani.
8 Then Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided, hither and thither, —so that they two, passed over, on dry ground.
Awo Eriya n’addira omunagiro gwe n’aguzinga wamu n’akuba amazzi ne gaawulibwamu, agamu ne gadda ku luuyi olwa ddyo n’amalala ku luuyi olwa kkono, bombi ne bayita ku lukalu.
9 And it came to pass, as they went over, that, Elijah, said unto Elisha—Ask, what I shall do for thee, ere yet I be taken from thee. And Elisha said, Let there be, I pray thee, a double portion of thy spirit upon me.
Awo bwe baamala okusomoka, Eriya n’abuuza Erisa nti, “Kiki ky’oyagala nkukolere nga sinnaba kukuggyibwako?” Erisa n’amuddamu nti, “Nkusaba, nsikire emigabo ebiri egy’Omwoyo akuliko.”
10 And he said—Thou hast asked a hard thing, —if thou see me when taken from thee, thou shall have it, so, but, if not, thou shalt not have it.
N’amugamba nti, “Ky’osabye kigambo kizibu, naye bw’onondaba nga ntwalibwa, kale kinaaba nga bw’osabye, naye bw’otondabe tekiibe bwe kityo.”
11 And it came to pass, as they were going on and on and talking, that lo! there was a chariot of fire, with horses of fire, which parted, those two, asunder, —and Elijah went up in a storm, into the heavens.
Awo bwe baali batambula nga bwe banyumya bokka na bokka, ne walabika eggaali ey’omuliro n’embalaasi ez’omuliro ne zibaawula, era mu kiseera kye kimu Eriya n’atwalibwa mu ggulu mu mbuyaga ey’amaanyi.
12 And, as soon as Elisha saw it, he, began crying out—My father! my father! The chariots of Israel, and the horsemen thereof! But, when he could see him no longer, he took hold of his clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
Awo Erisa bwe yalaba ekyo, n’ayogerera waggulu nti, “Kitange, Kitange, amagaali n’abeebagala embalaasi aba Isirayiri!” Erisa n’ataddamu kumulaba nate. N’addira engoye ze yali ayambadde, n’aziyuzaayuza.
13 Then took he up the mantle of Elijah, which had fallen from him, —and returned and stood, on the brink of the Jordan;
Waaliwo omunagiro ogwali gusuulibbwa Eriya ng’atwalibwa mu ggulu, era ogwo Erisa gwe yalonda n’addayo ku mugga Yoludaani n’ayimirira ku lubalama lw’omugga.
14 and took the mantle of Elijah which had fallen from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah? And, when, he also, smote the waters, they were divided, hither and thither, and Elisha, passed over.
N’addira omunagiro gwe yali alonze n’aguzinga n’akuba amazzi n’ayogera nti, “Kaakano Mukama, Katonda wa Eriya ali luuyi wa?” Bwe yakuba amazzi ne geeyawulamu, agamu ne gadda ku luuyi olwa ddyo n’amalala ku luuyi olwa kkono, n’asomoka.
15 And, when the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho, over against him, saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah, resteth, on Elisha. So they came to meet him, and bowed themselves down to him, to the ground.
Awo ekibiina ekya bannabbi abaali mu Yeriko ne bayogera nti, “Omwoyo wa Eriya ali ku Erisa.” Ne bagenda okumusisinkana ne bamuvuunamira.
16 Then said they unto him—Lo! we pray thee, there are with thy servants fifty men, sons of valour—let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy lord, lest the Spirit of Yahweh have borne him away, and cast him on one of the mountains, or into one of the valleys. And he said—Ye shall not send.
Ne bamugamba nti, “Laba, ffe abaddu bo tulina abasajja abazira amakumi ataano. Bagende banoonye mukama wo, osanga Omwoyo wa Mukama amututte n’amuteeka ku bumu ku busozi oba mu kiwonvu.” Erisa n’abaddamu nti, “Temutawaana, era temubatuma.”
17 But, when they urged him until he was ashamed, he said—Send. So they sent fifty men, and made search three days, but found him not.
Naye bwe baamuwaliriza, n’atendewalirwa, n’abagamba nti, “Kale, mubatume.” Awo ne batuma abasajja amakumi ataano, ne banoonya okumala ennaku ssatu naye ne batamulaba.
18 And, when they came back unto him, he, having tarried at Jericho, he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Do not go?
Bwe bakomawo gy’ali mu Yeriko, n’abagamba nti, “Saabalabudde obutagenda?”
19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Lo! we pray thee, the situation of the city, is good, as, my lord, seeth, —but, the waters, are bad, and, the land, apt to miscarry.
Awo abasajja ab’omu kibuga ne bagenda eri Erisa ne bamugamba nti, “Mukama waffe, ekibuga kino kiri mu kifo kirungi, nga nawe bw’olaba, naye amazzi gaamu mabi, era n’ensi si njimu.”
20 And he said—Bring me a new bowl, and put therein, salt. So they brought it unto him;
N’abagamba nti, “Mundeetere ebbakuli empya nga mutaddemu omunnyo.” Ne bagimuleetera.
21 and he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast therein, saith, —and said—Thus, saith Yahweh, I have healed these waters; there shall come from thence, no longer, death or aptness to miscarry.
N’aserengeta ku nsulo ey’amazzi, n’ayiwamu omunnyo, n’ayogera nti, “Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, ‘Nnoongosezza amazzi gano era tegakyaddamu kuleeta kufa wadde okufuula ensi obutaba njimu.’”
22 So the waters were healed, [as they remain] unto this day, —according to the word of Elisha which he spake.
Amazzi ne galongooka, ng’ekigambo kya Mukama kye yayogerera mu Erisa bwe kyali, n’okutuusa ku lunaku lwa leero.
23 And he went up from thence, to Bethel, —and, as he was going up on the way, some lads, came forth, out of the city, and made mockery of him, and said to him, Go up, bald head! Go up, bald head!
Erisa bwe yava eyo n’akwata ekkubo erigenda e Beseri. Naye ng’ali mu kkubo, n’asisinkana abavubuka ab’omu kibuga ekyo ne bamusekerera nga bwe boogera nti, “Mulabe ow’ekiwalaata! Mulabe ow’ekiwalaata!”
24 And, when he turned round and saw them, he cursed them, in the name of Yahweh, —and there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare, of them, forty-two youths.
N’akyuka n’abatunuulira, n’abakolimira mu linnya lya Mukama. Awo ebisolo ebinene bibiri eby’ekika eky’eddubu ne biva mu kibira ne bitaagulataagula abavubuka amakumi ana mu babiri ku bo.
25 And he went from thence, unto Mount Carmel, —and, from thence, he returned, to Samaria.
Ne yeeyongerayo n’alaga ku Lusozi Kalumeeri, oluvannyuma n’addayo e Samaliya.
