2 Kings 19
1 And it came to pass, when King Hezekiah heard, that he rent his clothes, —and covered himself with sackcloth, and entered the house of Yahweh;
Als das der König Hiskia vernahm, zerriß er seine Kleider, hüllte sich in ein härenes Gewand und ging in den Tempel Jahwes.
2 and sent Eliakim who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, —unto Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz;
Eljakim aber, der dem Palaste vorstand, und Sebna, den Staatsschreiber, samt den vornehmsten Priestern sandte er mit härenen Gewändern umhüllt zum Propheten Jesaja, dem Sohne des Amoz.
3 and they said unto him—Thus, saith Hezekiah, A day of trouble, and rebuke, and reviling, is this day, —for children are come to the birth, and, strength, is there none to bring forth!
Und sie sprachen zu ihm: So spricht Hiskia: Ein Tag der Not und der Züchtigung und Verwerfung ist der heutige Tag; denn das Kind ist an den Muttermund gekommen, aber es ist keine Kraft da, zu gebären.
4 It may be that Yahweh thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his lord hath sent, to reproach a Living God, and will rebuke the words, which Yahweh thy God hath heard, —Wherefore lift thou up a prayer, for the remnant that remaineth.
Vielleicht hört Jahwe, dein Gott, alle die Reden des Rabsake, den sein Herr, der König von Assyrien, gesandt hat, den lebendigen Gott zu lästern. So möge er denn die Rede ahnden, die Jahwe, dein Gott, gehört hat. Du aber lege Fürbitte ein für den Überrest, der noch vorhanden ist!
5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came unto Isaiah.
Als nun die Diener des Königs Hiskia zu Jesaja kamen,
6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus, shall ye, say, unto your lord, —Thus, saith Yahweh—Be not thou afraid, because of the words which thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled, me:
gab ihnen Jesaja den Bescheid: Sprecht also zu eurem Herrn: So spricht Jahwe: Fürchte dich nicht wegen der Reden, die du gehört hast, mit denen mich die Knechte des Königs von Assyrien gelästert haben.
7 Behold me! about to let go against him, a blast, and, when he heareth the report, then will he return to his own country, —and I will cause him to fall by the sword, in his own land.
Fürwahr, ich will ihnen einen Geist eingeben, daß er eine Kunde vernehmen und nach seinem Lande zurückkehren soll, und will ihn dann in seinem eigenen Lande durchs Schwert fällen!
8 So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, —for he had heard that he had broken up from Lachish.
Darauf kehrte der Rabsake zurück und fand den König von Assyrien mit der Belagerung von Libna beschäftigt; er hatte nämlich erfahren, daß er von Lachis aufgebrochen war.
9 And when he heard say of Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, saying, Lo! he hath come forth to fight with thee, —then he again sent messengers unto Hezekiah, saying—
Als aber Sanherib in betreff Thirhakas, des Königs von Kusch, die Kunde vernahm: Er ist ausgerückt um mit dir zu kämpfen, da sandte er abermals Boten an Hiskia mit den Worten:
10 Thus, shall ye, speak, unto Hezekiah king of Judah, saying—Let not thy God in whom thou art trusting beguile thee, saying, —Jerusalem shall not be given over, into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Sprecht also zu Hiskia, dem Könige von Juda: Laß dich von deinem Gott, auf den du dich verlässest, nicht betören, indem du denkst: Jerusalem wird nicht in die Gewalt des Königs von Assyrien überliefert werden!
11 Lo! thou thyself, hast heard, what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, in devoting them to destruction, —and shalt, thou, be delivered?
Du hast ja selbst gehört, wie die Könige von Assyrien mit allen Ländern verfahren sind, indem sie den Bann an ihnen vollstreckten, und da wolltest du entrinnen?
12 Did the gods of the nations, deliver them, whom my fathers destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, —and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who were in Telassar?
Haben etwa die Götter der Völker, die von meinen Vätern vernichtet wurden, diese gerettet - Gosan und Haran und Rezeph und die Leute von Eden zu Thelassar?
13 Where are the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, —of Hena, and Ivvah?
Wo ist der König von Hamath und der König von Arpad und ein König über die Stadt Sepharwaim, Hana und Awwa?
14 And, when Hezekiah had received the letter at the hand of the messengers, and had read it, then went he up to the house of Yahweh, and Hezekiah spread it out before Yahweh.
Als nun Hiskia den Brief aus der Hand der Boten empfangen und ihn gelesen hatte, ging er hinauf in den Tempel Jahwes, und Hiskia breitete ihn vor Jahwe aus.
15 And Hezekiah prayed before Yahweh, and said, O Yahweh, God of Israel, inhabiting the cherubim, thou thyself, art GOD, alone, for all the kingdoms of the earth, —thou, didst make the heavens and the earth.
Und Hiskia betete vor Jahwe und sprach: Jahwe, du Gott Israels, der du über den Keruben thronst, du allein bist der wahre Gott über alle Reiche der Erde; du hast den Himmel und die Erde gemacht.
16 Bow down, O Yahweh, thine ear, and hear, Open, O Yahweh, thine eyes, and see, —yea hear thou the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent—To reproach a Living God!
Neige, Jahwe, dein Ohr und höre; öffne, Jahwe, deine Augen und siehe! Ja, höre die Worte Sanheribs, der hergesandt hat, um den lebendigen Gott zu lästern.
17 Of a truth, O Yahweh, —the kings of Assyria have devoted to destruction the nations and their lands;
In der That, Jahwe, haben die Könige von Assyrien die Völker und ihre Länder verheert
18 and have put their gods in the fire, —for, no-gods, were, they, but the work of the hands of men—wood and stone, and so they destroyed them.
und haben ihre Götter ins Feuer geworfen. Denn das waren nicht wirkliche Götter, sondern nur Werk aus Menschenhänden, Holz und Stein, und so konnte man sie vernichten.
19 Now, therefore, O Yahweh our God, save us we pray thee, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know, that, thou, Yahweh, art God, alone!
Nun aber, Jahwe, unser Gott, errette uns doch aus seiner Gewalt, damit alle Reiche der Erde erkennen, daß du, Jahwe, allein Gott bist!
20 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, —Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, What thou hast prayed unto me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.
Da sandte Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, zu Hiskia, und ließ ihm sagen: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: Was du um Sanheribs, des Königs von Assyrien, willen zu mir gebetet hast, habe ich gehört.
21 This, is the word that Yahweh hath spoken concerning him, —The virgin daughter of Zion, laugheth thee to scorn, mocketh thee, The daughter of Jerusalem, after thee, doth wag her head.
Dies ist das Wort, das Jahwe über ihn geredet hat: Es verachtet dich, es spottet deiner die Jungfrau, die Tochter Zion. Hinter dir her schüttelt das Haupt die Tochter Jerusalem.
22 Whom, hast thou reproached, and insulted? and, against whom, hast thou lifted high thy voice? yea thou hast proudly raised thine eyes, against the Holy One of Israel.
Wen hast du gehöhnt und gelästert, und gegen wen hast du deine Stimme erhoben und hoch emporgehoben deine Augen? Wider den heiligen Israels!
23 Through thy messengers, thou hast reproached My Lord, and hast said—With my multitude of chariots, have I ascended the height of the mountains, the recesses of Lebanon, —and have cut down its tallest cedars, its choicest firs, and have entered the shelter of its summit, its thick garden forests.
Durch deine Boten hast du den Herrn gelästert und gesagt: Mit meiner Wagen Menge erstieg ich die Berge, den äußersten Libanon; ich hieb den Hochwuchs deiner Cedern um, seine auserlesensten Cypressen, und drang vor bis zu deiner äußersten Herberge, in seinen dichtesten Baumgarten
24 I, have digged, and have drunk foreign waters, —and have dried up, with the soles of my feet, all the streams of besieged places.
Ich grub auf und trank fremde Wasser und trocknete mit der Sohle meiner Füße alle Kanäle Ägyptens!
25 Hast thou not heard—that, long ago, that, is what I appointed, and, from days of old, devised it? Now, have I brought it to pass, that thou mightest serve to lay waste, in desolate ruins, fortified cities;
Hörst du wohl? Von längst her habe ich es bereitet, von uralten Zeiten her habe ich es geordnet. Jetzt aber habe ich es herbeigeführt, daß du feste Städte verheeren sollst zu wüsten Steinhaufen!
26 And, their inhabitants, being powerless, were overthrown and put to shame, —they became grass of the field, and young herbage, grass on housetops, and seed withered before it came up.
Ihre Bewohner aber in ihrer Ohnmacht schraken zusammen und wurden zuschanden, wurden wie Kraut auf dem Feld und sprossendes Grün, Gras auf den Dächern und verdorrendes Korn.
27 Howbeit, thine abode, and thy coming out and thy going in, I know, —and thy raging against me.
Dein Aufstehen und dein Sitzen ist mit offenbar, dein Gehen und Kommen kenne ich wohl, sowie dein Toben wider mich!
28 Because, thy raging against me, and thy contempt, have come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my ring in thy nose, and my bit in thy lips, and will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
Weil du denn wider mich tobst, und dein Übermut angestiegen ist zu meinen Ohren, so will ich dir einen Ring in die Nase legen und meinen Zaum in deine Lippen und will dich desselben Wegs zurückführen, auf dem du gekommen bist!
29 And, this unto thee, is the sign—Eating, this year, the growth of scattered seeds, and, in the second year, that which groweth after, —then, in the third year, sow ye and reap, plant ye vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof;
Folgendes aber diene dir zum Wahrzeichen: Heuer wird man essen, was von selbst wächst, und im zweiten Jahre, was noch aus den Wurzeln wächst; im dritten Jahre aber sollt ihr säen und ernten und Weinberge pflanzen und ihre Frucht genießen.
30 Then shall the escaped of the house of Judah that remain, again—take root downward, and bear fruit upward;
Und was vom Hause Juda entronnen und übrig geblieben ist, soll aufs Neue unten Wurzel schlagen und oben Frucht bringen.
31 For, out of Jerusalem, shall go forth a remnant, and that which hath escaped—out of Mount Zion, —the jealousy of Yahweh of hosts, will perform this.
Denn von Jerusalem wird ein Überrest ausgehen und Entronnene vom Berge Zion; der Eifer Jahwes der Heerscharen wird solches thun!
32 Therefore—Thus, saith Yahweh, concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not enter this city, nor shoot there, an arrow, —nor attack it with shield, nor cast up against it, a mound;
Darum spricht Jahwe also über den König von Assyrien: Er soll nicht in diese Stadt eindringen und keinen Pfeil dareinschießen, und soll mit keinem Schilde gegen sie anrücken, noch einen Wall gegen sie aufschütten.
33 By the way that he cometh in, by the same, shall he return, —and, into this city, shall he not enter, declareth Yahweh!
Desselben Wegs, auf dem er gekommen ist, soll er zurückkehren: aber in diese Stadt soll er nicht eindringen, ist der Spruch Jahwes.
34 Thus will I throw a covering over this city, to save it, —for mine own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.
Und ich will diese Stadt beschirmen, daß ich sie errette, um meinetwillen und um meines Knechts David willen!
35 And it came to pass, during that night, that the messenger of Yahweh went forth, and smote, in the camp of the Assyrians, a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And, when men arose early in the morning, lo! they were all, dead bodies!
In derselben Nacht aber ging der Engel Jahwes aus und schlug im Lager der Assyrer 185000 Mann; und als man sich des Morgens früh aufmachte, fand man sie alle als leblose Leichen.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria brake up, and went his way, and returned, —and remained in Nineveh.
Da brach Sanherib, der König von Assyrien, auf und zog ab, kehrte um und blieb zu Nineve.
37 And it came to pass, as he was bowing down in the house of Nisroch his god, that, Adrammelech and Sharezer [his sons], smote him with the sword, howbeit, they, escaped into the land of Ararat, —and Esarhaddon his son, reigned, in his stead.
Und während er einst im Tempel seines Gottes Nisroch anbetete, ermordeten ihn seine Söhne Adrammelech und Sarezer. Sie flüchteten sich aber darnach ins Land Ararat, und sein Sohn Asarhaddon ward König an seiner Statt.
