< 2 Kings 18 >

1 And it came to pass, in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
Ary tamin’ ny taona fahatelo nanjakan’ i Hosea, zanak’ i Elaha, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, no vao nanjakan’ i Hezekia, zanak’ i Ahaza, mpanjakan’ ny Joda.
2 Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, and, twenty-nine years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, his mother’s name, was Abi, daughter of Zachariah.
Dimy amby roa-polo taona izy, fony vao nanjaka, ary nanjaka sivy amby roa-polo taona tany Jerosalema izy. Ary ny anaran-dreniny dia Aby, zanakavavin’ i Zakaria.
3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —according to all that, David his father, did.
Ary nanao izay mahitsy eo imason’ i Jehovah izy tahaka izay rehetra nataon’ i Davida rainy.
4 He, removed the high places, and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Sacred Stem, —and beat in pieces the serpent of bronze that, Moses, had made, because, until those days, had the sons of Israel been burning incense thereunto, so he called it Nehushtan.
Izy no nandrava ny fitoerana avo sy namakivaky ny tsangam-baton-tsampy sy nikapa ny Aserahany ary nanorotoro ny menarana varahina izay nataon’ i Mosesy; fa ny Zanak’ Isiraely efa nandoro ditin-kazo manitra tamin’ iny hatramin’ izany andro izany aza; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Nehostana.
5 In Yahweh, God of Israel, did he trust, —so that, after him, was none like him, among all the kings of Judah, nor that were before him;
Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, no nitokiany, ka dia tsy nisy tahaka azy tamin’ izay rehetra mpanjakan’ ny Joda, na ny teo aoriany, na ny teo alohany
6 and he did cleave unto Yahweh, he turned not away from following him, —but kept his commandments, which, Yahweh, commanded, Moses.
Fa nifikitra tamin’ i Jehovah izy ka tsy niala tamin’ ny fanarahana Azy, fa nitandrina ny didy izay nandidian’ i Jehovah an’ i Mosesy.
7 So Yahweh was with him, whithersoever he went forth, he prospered, —and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
Ary Jehovah nomba azy, ka dia nambinina tamin’ izay nalehany rehetra izy; ary niodina tamin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria izy ka tsy nanompo azy.
8 He, smote the Philistines, as far as Gazah, and her boundaries, —from the watchmen’s tower even to the fortified city.
Izy no namely ny Filistina hatrany Gaza sy ny fari-taniny, ka noravany avokoa hatramin’ ny tilikambon’ ny mpiambina ka hatramin’ ny tanàna mimànda.
9 And it came to pass, in the fourth year of King Hezekiah—the same, was the seventh year of Hosea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and laid siege against it;
Ary tamin’ ny taona fahefatra nanjakan’ i Hezekia mpanjaka (dia ny taona fahafito nanjakan’ i Hosea, zanak’ i Elaha, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, izany) no niakaran’ i Salmanesera mpanjakan’ i Asyria, hamely an’ i Samaria sy nanaovany fahirano azy.
10 and he captured it at the end of three years, in the sixth year of Hezekiah, —the same, is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, was Samaria captured.
Ary nony tapitra ny telo taona, dia afak’ ireo ny tanàna; dia tamin’ ny taona fahenina nanjakan’ i Hezekia, izay taona fahasivy nanjakan’ i Hosea, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, no nahafahana an’ i Samaria.
11 So the king of Assyria drave away Israel to Assyria, —and settled them in Halah, and in Habor, by the river of Gozan, and the mountains of Media:
Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria nitondra ny Isiraely ho babo tany Asyria ka nametraka azy tao Hala sy teo amoron’ i Habora, onin’ i Gozana, ary teny amin’ ny tanànan’ ny Mediana,
12 because they hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh their God, but transgressed his covenant, all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded, —they neither hearkened nor performed.
Satria tsy nihaino ny feon’ i Jehovah Andriamaniny izy, fa nivadika ny fanekeny, dia izay rehetra nandidian’ i Mosesy, mpanompon’ i Jehovah, ka tsy nihaino na nankato izany izy.
13 And, in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, came up Sennacherib king of Assyria, against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
Ary tamin’ ny taona fahefatra ambin’ ny folo nanjakan’ i Hezekia mpanjaka dia niakatra Sankeriba, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, hamely ny tanàna mimànda rehetra any Joda ka nahafaka azy.
14 Then sent Hezekiah king of Judah unto the king of Assyria, to Lachish, saying—I have sinned, Return from me, What thou shalt lay upon me, I will bear. So the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah, three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.
Ary Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, naniraka tany amin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria tany Lakisy nanao hoe: Efa diso aho, ialao aho, fa izay hampitondrainao ahy dia ho entiko. Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria nampandoa an’ i Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, talenta volafotsy telon-jato sy talenta volamena telo-polo.
15 And Hezekiah delivered up all the silver that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasuries of the house of the king.
Ary Hezekia nanome azy ny volafotsy rehetra izay hita tao an-tranon’ i Jehovah sy tao amin’ ny rakitry ny tranon’ ny mpanjaka.
16 At that time, Hezekiah cut off the doors of the temple of Yahweh, and the columns, which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, —and gave them unto the king of Assyria.
Tamin’ izany andro izany no nanendahan’ i Hezekia ny volamena tamin’ ny varavaran’ ny tempolin’ i Jehovah sy tamin’ ny tolana, dia ilay efa napetak’ i Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda; ary dia nomeny ho an’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria izany.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rab-shakeh, from Lachish unto King Hezekiah, with a heavy force to Jerusalem, —so they came up and drew near to Jerusalem, and took their stand by the upper channel of the pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria naniraka an’ i Tartana sy Raba-sarisa ary Rabsake mbamin’ ny miaramila betsaka avy teo Lakisy hankany Jerosalema ho any amin’ i Hezekia mpanjaka. Dia niakatra ireny ka tonga tany Jerosalema; ary nony tonga teo izy, dia nitsangana teo anilan’ ny lakan-drano amin’ ny kamory ambony, teo an-dalambe mankamin’ ny sahan’ ny mpamotsy lamba.
18 Then called they for the king, and there went out unto them Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, —and Shebnah, the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder.
Ary nony efa niantso ny mpanjaka izy, dia nivoaka ho eo aminy Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana.
19 And Rab-shakeh said unto them—Pray you, say unto Hezekiah, —Thus, saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What trust is this wherewith thou dost trust?
Dia hoy Rabsake tamin’ ireo: Andeha, lazao amin’ i Hezekia hoe: Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Inona izato itokianao?
20 Thou hast said—they are only words of the lips!—Counsel and might [have I] for the war. Now, in whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
Hoy ianao (nefa teny foana izany): Manana saina sy hery hiady aho. Koa iza no itokianao, no miodina amiko ianao?
21 Now, lo! thou dost trust thyself on the support of this bruised cane, on Egypt, whereon, if a man lean, it will enter his hand and lay it open, —so, is Pharaoh king of Egypt, to all who trust upon him.
Fa, indro, ianao matoky io tehina volotara torotoro io, dia Egypta, nefa raha itehenan’ olona iny, dia manindrona ny tànany miboroaka; tahaka izany Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, amin’ izay rehetra matoky azy.
22 But, if ye should say unto me, In Yahweh our God, do we trust, Then is that not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath removed, and said unto Judah, and unto Jerusalem—Before this altar, shall ye bow down, in Jerusalem?
Ary raha hoy ianareo amiko: Jehovah Andriamanitray no itokianay, moa tsy Azy va ny fitoerana avo aman’ alitara izay noravan’ i Hezekia, izay nilaza tamin’ ny Joda sy Jerosalema hoe: Eto anoloan’ ity alitara eto Jerosalema ity no hiankohofanareo?
23 Now, therefore, pledge thyself, I pray thee, with my lord, the king of Assyria, —that I supply thee with two thousand horses, if thou, on thy part, be able to set riders upon them.
Koa aoka hifaninana ianao sy ny tompoko, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, fa homeko soavaly roa arivo ianao, raha tàhiny manana olona hitaingina azy.
24 How then wilt thou turn back the face of one pasha of the least of my lord’s servants? Or hast thou, on thy part, trusted to Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
Hataonao ahoana no fampiamboho ny komandy iray amin’ ny mpanompon’ ny tompoko, na dia izay kely indrindra aminy aza? Nefa matoky an’ i Egypta ianao hahazoanao kalesy sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly.
25 Now, is it, without Yahweh, that I have come up against this place, to destroy it? Yahweh himself, said unto me, Go thou up against this land, and destroy it.
Koa moa haitraitro va izao niakarako izao? Tsia, fa Jehovah no naniraka ahy handrava ity tany ity ka nanao hoe: Miakara hamely ity tany ity, ka ravao izy.
26 Then said Eliakim son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh: Speak, we pray thee, unto thy servants in the, Syrian, language, for, we, can, understand, it, —and do not speak with us in, the Jews’, language, in the ears of the people who are upon the wall.
Dia hoy Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, sy Sebna ary Joa tamin-dRabsake: Masìna ianao, teny Syriana no ataovy aminay mpanomponao, fa fantatray ihany izany; fa aza manao teny Jiosy ho ren’ ny olona eny ambonin’ ny mànda.
27 But Rab-shakeh said unto them—Is it, concerning thy lord, and concerning thee, that my lord hath sent me to speak these things? Is it not concerning the men who are tarrying upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own water with you?
Fa hoy Rabsake taminy: Moa ho amin’ ny tomponao sy ianao akory va no nanirahan’ ny tompoko ahy hilaza izao teny izao, fa tsy ho amin’ ny olona izay mipetraka eny ambonin’ ny manda, hihinanany izay tsy fihinany sy hisotroany izay tsy fisotrony miaraka aminareo?
28 So then Rab-shakeh took his stand, and cried out with a loud voice, in, the Jews’, language, —and spake, and said, Hear ye the message of the great king, the king of Assyria: —
Dia nijoro teo Rabsake ka niantso tamin’ ny feo mahery tamin’ ny teny Jiosy hoe: Henoy ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria:
29 Thus, saith the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not he able to deliver you out of his hand;
Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka: Aza mety ho fitahin’ i Hezekia ianareo, fa tsy hahavonjy anareo amin’ ny tanako izy tsy akory.
30 Neither let Hezekiah cause you to trust in Yahweh, saying, Yahweh, will, certainly deliver, us, —this city, therefore, shall not be given over into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Ary aza mety hampahatokin’ i Hezetia an’ i Jehovah ianareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika tokoa; ary tsy hatolotra eo an-tànan’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria tsy akory ity tanàna ity.
31 Do not hearken unto Hezekiah, —for, thus, saith the king of Assyria, Deal with me thankfully, and come out unto me, then shall ye eat—every one of his own vine, and every one of his own fig-tree, and drink every one the waters of his own cistern;
Aza mihaino an’ i Hezekia; fa izao no lazain’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Manaova fanekena amiko hiadanana, ka mankanesa atỳ amiko, ary samia homana ny voalobony sy ny aviaviny, ary samia misotro ny rano avy amin’ ny lavaka famorian-dranony avy ianareo,
32 Until I come and take you, into a land like your own land—A land of corn and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and honey, so shall ye live, and not die, —But do not hearken unto Hezekiah, for he would persuade you, saying, Yahweh, will deliver us!
mandra-pihaviko hitondra anareo ho any amin’ izay tany tahaka ny taninareo, dia tany misy vary sy ranom-boaloboka, tany misy mofo sy tanim-boaloboka, tany misy oliva tsara diloilo sy tantely, mba ho velona ianareo, fa tsy ho faty, ary aza mihaino an’ i Hezekia, raha izy manome vohony anareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika.
33 Have, the gods of the nations, at all delivered, any one of them, his country, out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Moa nisy nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria va ireo andriamanitry ny firenena?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Yea, did they deliver Samaria out of my hand?
Aiza moa ireo andriamanitr’ i Hamata sy Arpada? Ary aiza koa ireo andriamanitr’ i Sefarvaima sy Hena ary Iva? Nahavonjy an’ i Samaria tamin’ ny tanako va ireo andriamaniny?
35 Who are they, among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country, out of my hand, —that, Yahweh, should deliver, Jerusalem, out of my hand?
Iza moa amin’ ny andriamanitra rehetra amin’ ny tany no efa nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny tanako, koa aiza no hahavonjen’ i Jehovah an’ i Jerosalema amin’ ny tanako?
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word, —for, the command of the king, it was, saying—Ye must not answer him.
Nefa nangina ny olona, ka tsy nisy namaly azy na dia teny indraim-bava akory aza, satria ny mpanjaka efa nandidy hoe: Aza misy mamaly azy.
37 Then came in Eliakim son of Hilkiah who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, unto Hezekiah, with rent clothes, —and they told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
Ary Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana, dia niditra nankao amin’ i Hezekia, sady voatriatra ny fitafiany, ary nilaza taminy ny tenin-dRabsake izy.
