2 Kings 10

1 Now, Ahab, had seventy sons in Samaria, —so Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel—the elders, and unto them who had been foster-parents for Ahab, saying:

هفتاد پسر اَخاب در سامره بودند. پس ییهو برای مقامات و بزرگان شهر و نیز سرپرستان پسران اَخاب نامه‌ای به این مضمون نوشت: «به محض رسیدن این نامه، شایسته‌ترین پسر اَخاب را انتخاب کرده، او را به پادشاهی برگزینید و برای دفاع از خاندان اَخاب آماده جنگ شوید، زیرا شما ارابه‌ها و اسبها و شهرهای حصاردار و ساز و برگ نظامی در اختیار دارید.»

2 Now, therefore, when this letter cometh in unto you, there being, with you, the sons of your lord, —and, with you, the chariots and the homes, and a fortified city, and the armour,

3 ye shall look out the goodliest and fittest of the sons of your lord, and set on the throne of his father, and ye shall do battle for the house of your lord.

4 Then feared they very greatly, and said, Lo! two kings, stood not before him; how then, should, we, stand?

اما بزرگان شهر به شدت ترسیدند که این کار را انجام دهند و گفتند: «دو پادشاه از عهدهٔ این مرد برنیامدند، ما چه می‌توانیم بکنیم؟»

5 So he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, and the elders, and the foster-parents sent unto Jehu, saying—Thy servants, we are! and, all that thou shalt say unto us, will we do, —we will make no man king, whatsoever is good in thine own eyes, do!

پس رئیس دربار و رئیس شهر با بزرگان شهر و سرپرستان پسران اَخاب این پیغام را برای ییهو فرستادند: «ما خدمتگزاران تو هستیم و هر دستوری بفرمایی انجام خواهیم داد. ما کسی را پادشاه نخواهیم ساخت. هر چه در نظر داری همان را انجام بده.»

6 Then wrote he unto them a second letter, saying—If, mine, ye are, and, unto my voice, ye intend to hearken, take ye the heads of the men who are sons of your lord, and come in unto me about this time to-morrow, in Jezreel. Now, the sons of the king, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who had been bringing them up.

ییهو در پاسخ آنها این پیغام را فرستاد: «اگر شما طرفدار من هستید و می‌خواهید تابع من باشید، سرهای پسران اَخاب را بریده، فردا در همین وقت آنها را برایم به یزرعیل بیاورید.» هفتاد پسر اَخاب در خانه‌های بزرگان شهر که سرپرستان ایشان بودند، زندگی می‌کردند.

7 And it came to pass, when the letter reached them, that they took the sons of the king, and slew them, seventy persons, —and put their heads in baskets, and sent unto him to Jezreel.

وقتی نامهٔ ییهو به بزرگان شهر رسید، هفتاد شاهزاده را سر بریدند و سرهای آنها را در سبد گذاشته، به یزرعیل بردند و به ییهو تقدیم کردند.

8 And there came in a messenger and told him, saying, They have brought in the heads of the sons of the king. And he said—Lay ye them in two heaps, at the entrance of the gate, until the morning.

وقتی به ییهو خبر رسید که سرهای شاهزادگان را آورده‌اند، دستور داد آنها را به دو توده تقسیم کنند و کنار دروازهٔ شهر قرار دهند و تا صبح بگذارند در آنجا بمانند.

9 And it came to pass, in the morning, that he went out and took his stand, and said unto all the people, Righteous, are, ye! Lo! I, conspired against my lord, and slew him, but, who, smote, all these?

صبح روز بعد، ییهو بیرون رفت و به جمعیتی که کنار دروازهٔ شهر گرد آمده بودند، گفت: «این من بودم که بر ضد ارباب خود برخاستم و او را کشتم. شما در این مورد بی‌گناهید. ولی پسران او را چه کسی کشته است؟

10 Know ye, then, that there shall fall nought of the word of Yahweh, to the ground, which Yahweh spake concerning the house of Ahab, —but, Yahweh, hath done that which he spake through his servant Elijah.

این نشان می‌دهد که هر چه خداوند دربارهٔ خاندان اَخاب فرموده، به انجام می‌رسد. خداوند آنچه را که توسط ایلیای نبی فرموده، بجا آورده است.»

11 Then Jehu smote all that were left remaining unto the house of Ahab, in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his acquaintances and his priests, —until there was not left remaining to him, a survivor.

سپس ییهو تمام بازماندگان خاندان اَخاب را که در یزرعیل بودند، کشت. همچنین تمام افسران ارشد، دوستان نزدیک و کاهنان او را از بین برد، به طوری که هیچ‌یک از نزدیکان او باقی نماند.

12 Then arose he, and came in, and departed for Samaria, —the sheep-shearing house itself being on the road;

سپس ییهو عازم سامره شد و در بین راه در محلی به نام «اردوگاه شبانان»

13 so, Jehu, lighted upon the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are, ye? And they said—Brethren of Ahaziah, are, we; so we came down to salute the sons of the king, and the sons of the queen.

به خویشاوندان اخزیا، پادشاه یهودا برخورد. ییهو از آنها پرسید: «شما کیستید؟» جواب دادند: «ما خویشاوندان اخزیای پادشاه هستیم و برای دیدن پسران اَخاب و ایزابل به سامره می‌رویم.»

14 Then said he, —Take them alive. So they took them alive, and slew them [casting them] into the pit of the shearing house, —forty-two men, neither left he remaining a man of them.

ییهو به افراد خود گفت: «آنها را زنده بگیرید!» پس آنها را زنده گرفتند و همه را که بر روی هم چهل و دو نفر بودند، کنار چاهِ بِیت‌عِقِد کشتند. او کسی را زنده نگذاشت.

15 Then departed he from thence, and lighted on Jehonadab son of Rechab coming to meet him, and he blessed him, and said unto him—Is thy heart, right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab said—It is. Then, if it is, give me thy hand. So he gave him his hand. And he took him up to him, into the chariot;

ییهو در ادامهٔ سفر خود به یهوناداب پسر رکاب که به استقبالش می‌آمد، برخورد. پس از احوالپرسی، ییهو از او پرسید: «آیا همان‌طور که من نسبت به تو وفادار هستم، تو هم نسبت به من وفادار هستی؟» جواب داد: «بله.» ییهو گفت: «پس دستت را به من بده.» و دست او را گرفت و بر ارابه‌اش سوار کرده،

16 and said—Do come with me, and see my jealousy for Yahweh. So he made him ride in his chariot.

به او گفت: «همراه من بیا و ببین چه غیرتی برای خداوند دارم.» پس یهوناداب سوار بر ارابه همراه او رفت.

17 And, when he came into Samaria, he smote all that were left remaining unto Ahab, in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he had spoken unto Elijah.

وقتی به سامره رسیدند، ییهو تمام دوستان و بستگان اَخاب را کشت، به طوری که یک نفر هم باقی نماند و این همان بود که خداوند به ایلیای نبی گفته بود.

18 Then Jehu gathered together all the people, and said unto them, —Ahab, served Baal, a little, —Jehu, will serve him, much.

آنگاه ییهو تمام اهالی شهر را جمع کرد و به ایشان گفت: «من می‌خواهم بیشتر از اَخاب بعل را بپرستم!

19 Now, therefore, all the prophets of Baal, all his servants and all his priests, call ye for me; do not let, a man, be missing; for, a great sacrifice, have I, to Baal, no one that is missing, shall live. But, Jehu, acted, craftily, to the end he might destroy the servants of Baal.

پس تمام انبیا و کاهنان و پرستندگان بعل را جمع کنید. نگذارید حتی یک نفر غایب باشد، چون می‌خواهم قربانی بزرگی به بعل تقدیم کنم. هر کس از پرستندگان بعل در این جشن حاضر نشود، کشته خواهد شد.» (ولی ییهو می‌خواست به حیله، پرستندگان بعل را نابود کند.)

20 And Jehu said—Hallow ye a solemn festival unto Baal. And they made proclamation.

ییهو به سراسر اسرائیل پیغام فرستاد که تمام کسانی که بعل را می‌پرستیدند برای عبادت او جمع شوند. همهٔ آنها آمدند و سراسر معبد بعل را پر ساختند.

21 And Jehu sent throughout all Israel, and all the servants of Baal came in, so that there was not left remaining a man, who had not come in, —and they entered the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was filled, from door to door.

22 Then said he to him who was over the wardrobe chamber, Bring forth vestments for all the servants of Baal. And he brought forth for them the vestments.

ییهو به مسئول انبار لباس دستور داد که به هر یک از بت‌پرستان بعل لباس مخصوص بدهد.

23 Then entered Jehu, with Jehonadab son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, —and he said unto the servants of Baal—Search ye and see, that there be not here, with you, any of the servants of Yahweh, none but the servants of Baal, alone.

سپس ییهو با یهوناداب (پسر رکاب) وارد معبد بعل شد و به بت‌پرستان گفت: «مواظب باشید که کسی از پرستندگان خداوند در اینجا نباشد. فقط پرستندگان بعل باید در داخل معبد باشند.»

24 And, when they entered to offer sacrifices and ascending-offerings, Jehu, set him, outside, eighty men, and said—The man who shall escape, of the men whom I am bringing into your power, his own life, shall be for, his life.

وقتی کاهنان بعل مشغول قربانی کردن شدند، ییهو هشتاد نفر از افراد ماهر خود را اطراف معبد گماشت و به آنها گفت: «اگر بگذارید یک نفر زنده خارج شود، شما را به جای آن یک نفر خواهم کشت!»

25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the ascending-sacrifice, that Jehu said to the runners and to the officers—Enter, smite them, let not, a man, get out. So they smote them, with the edge of the sword, —and the runners and the officers cast them out, and then went as far as the city of the house of Baal,

وقتی آنها از قربانی کردن فارغ شدند، ییهو بیرون رفت و به سربازان و افراد خود گفت: «داخل شوید و همه را بکشید. نگذارید حتی یک نفر زنده بماند!» پس داخل شده، همه را کشتند و اجسادشان را بیرون انداختند. سپس افراد ییهو داخل محراب معبد بعل شدند

26 and brought forth the idolatrous pillars that were in the house of Baal, and then burned it;

و مجسمه بعل را بیرون آورده، سوزاندند.

27 and they brake down the pillars of Baal, —and brake down the house of Baal, and appointed it for a sewer-house—until this day.

آنها معبد بعل را ویران کرده، آن را به مزبله تبدیل نمودند، که تا به امروز به همان شکل باقیست.

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

به این ترتیب، ییهو تمام آثار بعل را از خاک اسرائیل محو کرد؛

29 Nevertheless, as for the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused, Israel, to commit, Jehu turned not away from following them, —the calves of gold, one being in Bethel, and the other in Dan.

ولی از پرستش گوساله‌های طلایی دست نکشید. این گوساله‌ها را یربعام (پسر نباط) در بیت‌ئیل و دان ساخته بود و از گناهان بزرگ وی محسوب می‌شد، زیرا تمام اسرائیل را به بت‌پرستی کشانده بود.

30 And Yahweh said unto Jehu: Because thou hast done well, by doing that which was right in mine eyes—according to all that was in my heart, hast done to the house of Ahab, sons, of thine, unto the fourth generation, shall sit upon the throne of Israel.

پس از آن، خداوند به ییهو فرمود: «تو دستور مرا اجرا کرده، مطابق میل من با خاندان اَخاب عمل نمودی؛ پس به سبب این کار خوب تو، فرزندان تو را تا چهار نسل بر تخت پادشاهی اسرائیل خواهم نشاند.»

31 But, Jehu, took not heed to walk in the law of Yahweh God of Israel, with all his heart, —he turned not away from the sins of Jeroboam, which he caused, Israel, to commit.

ولی ییهو با تمام دل خود از دستورهای خداوند، خدای اسرائیل اطاعت نکرد، بلکه از گناهان یربعام که اسرائیل را به گناه کشانده بود، پیروی نمود.

32 In those days, began Yahweh to make inroads in Israel, —and Hazael smote them in all the boundaries of Israel;

در آن زمان، خداوند شروع به ویران کردن اسرائیل نمود. حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه، آن قسمت از سرزمین اسرائیل را که در شرق رود اردن بود، تصرف کرد. قسمت متصرف شده تا شهر عروعیر در وادی ارنون می‌رسید و شامل سرزمین جلعاد و باشان می‌شد که قبایل جاد، رئوبین و مَنَسی در آن زندگی می‌کردند.

33 from the Jordan, towards sunrise, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, —from Aroer, which is by the torrent of Arnon, both Gilead and Bashan.

34 Now, the rest of the story of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

شرح بقیهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت ییهو و کارها و فتوحات او در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل» ثبت شده است.

35 And Jehu slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, —and, Jehoahaz his son, reigned, in his stead.

وقتی ییهو مرد، او را در سامره دفن کردند و پسرش یهوآحاز به جای او پادشاه شد.

36 Now, the days that Jehu reigned over Israel, were twenty-eight years, in Samaria.

ییهو روی‌هم‌رفته بیست و هشت سال در سامره بر اسرائیل سلطنت کرد.
