2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, through the will of God, and Timothy the brother, —unto the assembly of God which is in Corinth, together with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:

Esta carta viene de parte de Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo, conforme a la voluntad de Dios, y de parte de Timoteo, nuestro hermano. Es enviada a la iglesia de Dios en Corinto, así como a todo el pueblo de Dios que está por toda la región de Acaya.

2 Favour unto you, and peace, from God [our] Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.

Reciban gracia y paz de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.

3 Blessed, be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassions, and God of all encouragement,

¡Alaben a Dios, el padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo! Él es el Padre misericordioso, y Dios de toda consolación.

4 Who encourageth us in all our tribulation, to the end we may be able to encourage them who are in any tribulation—through means of the encouragement wherewith we, ourselves, are encouraged by God.

Él nos consuela en todas nuestras aflicciones, para que podamos consolar también a otros con el consuelo que recibimos de Dios.

5 Because, even as the sufferings of the Christ overflow unto us, so, through the Christ, overfloweth, our encouragement also.

Cuanto más participamos de los sufrimientos de Cristo, tanto más abundante es el consuelo que recibimos de él.

6 But, whether we are in tribulation, it is for your encouragement and salvation; whether we are encouraged, it is for your encouragement, which worketh inwardly by the endurance of the same sufferings which, we also, suffer; —

Si estamos angustiados, es para su consuelo y salvación. Si estamos siendo consolados, es para consuelo de ustedes, que los ayuda a soportar con paciencia los mismos sufrimientos que nosotros padecemos.

7 And so, our hope, is sure in your behalf, —knowing that, —as ye are sharers of the sufferings, so, also of the encouragement.

Confiamos en gran manera en ustedes, sabiendo que así como participan de nuestros sufrimientos, también participan de nuestro consuelo.

8 For we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, as to our tribulation which happened in Asia, —that, exceedingly, beyond power, were we weighed down, so that we despaired, even of life.

Hermanos y hermanas, no les ocultaremos los problemas que tuvimos en Asia. Estábamos tan agobiados que temíamos no tener las fuerzas para continuar, tanto así que dudábamos de que pudiéramos salir con vida.

9 But, we ourselves, within ourselves, have had the sentence of death, that we might not rest our confidence upon ourselves, but upon God, who raiseth the dead,

De hecho, era como una sentencia de muerte dentro de nosotros. Esto nos sirvió para dejar de depender de nosotros mismos y comenzar a confiar en Dios, quien levanta a los muertos.

10 Who, out of so great a death, rescued us, and will rescue, —unto whom we have turned our hope, [that], even yet, he will rescue:

Él nos salvó de la muerte, y pronto lo hará otra vez. Tenemos plena confianza en que Dios seguirá salvándonos.

11 Ye also labouring together on our behalf, by your supplication, that, unto many persons, being due the gift of favour, unto us, through means of many, might thanks be given in our behalf.

Ustedes nos ayudan con sus oraciones. De este modo, muchos agradecerán a Dios por la bendición que Dios nos dará en respuesta a las oraciones de muchos.

12 For, our boasting, is, this, —the witness of our conscience, that, in sanctity and sincerity of God, [and] not in fleshly wisdom, but in God’s favour, have we behaved ourselves in the world, —and more abundantly towards you.

Nos enorgullecemos en el hecho—y nuestra conciencia lo confirma—de que hemos actuado de manera apropiada con las personas, especialmente con ustedes. Hemos seguido los principios de Dios de santidad y sinceridad, no conforme a la sabiduría mundanal, sino por la gracia de Dios.

13 For, no other things, are we writing unto you, than what ye are either reading or even acknowledging, —I hope, moreover, that, throughout, ye will acknowledge,

Porque no escribimos ninguna cosa complicada que ustedes no puedan leer o comprender. Espero que ustedes al final entiendan,

14 According as ye have also acknowledged us, in part, —that, your theme of boasting, we are, even indeed as, ye, also [shall be], ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

aunque ahora solo entiendan en parte, a fin de que cuando el Señor venga, ustedes estén orgullosos de nosotros, como nosotros de ustedes.

15 And, in this confidence, I purposed, before, to come unto you, —in order that, a second joy, ye might have, —

Como yo estaba tan seguro de su confianza en mí, hice planes para venir a visitarlos primero. Así ustedes se habrían beneficiado doblemente,

16 And, by your means, to pass into Macedonia, and, again, from Macedonia, to come unto you, and, by you, be set forward unto Judea: —

pues iría desde donde están ustedes a Macedonia, y luego volvería desde Macedonia a donde ustedes nuevamente. Luego yo les habría pedido que me enviaran de camino a Judea.

17 This, then, being my purpose, perhaps, after all, with lightness, I dealt [with the matter]? or, the things that I purpose, according to the flesh, I purpose, —that, with me, should be the Yea, yea, and the Nay, nay?

¿Por qué cambié mi plan original? ¿Creen que tomo decisiones a la ligera? ¿Creen que cuando hago planes soy como cualquier persona del mundo que dice Sí y No al mismo tiempo?

18 Faithful, however, is God, in that, our discourse, which was [delivered] unto you, is not Yea and Nay;

Así como Dios es digno de confianza, cuando nosotros les damos nuestra palabra, no es Sí y No a la vez.

19 For, the Son of God, Christ Jesus—who, among you, through us, was proclaimed, —through me, and Silvanus, and Timothy, became not Yea and Nay, —but Yea, in him, hath it become;

La verdad del Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo, fue anunciada a ustedes por medio de nosotros—Silvano, Timoteo y yo—y no fue Sí y No. ¡En Cristo la respuesta es definitivamente Sí!

20 For, how many soever be the promises of God, in him, is the Yea, —wherefore also, through him, [be] the Amen, unto God, for glory, through us.

No importa cuántas promesas Dios haya hecho, en Cristo la respuesta siempre es Sí. Por él, respondemos diciendo Sí a la gloria de Dios.

21 Now, he that confirmeth us, together with you, for Christ, and hath anointed us, is God:

Él nos ha dado a nosotros y también a ustedes la fuerza para permanecer firmes en Cristo. Dios nos ha ungido,

22 Who also hath sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

ha puesto su sello de aprobación sobre nosotros, y nos ha dado la garantía del Espíritu en nuestros corazones.

23 But, I, call upon God, as a witness, against my own soul, —that, to spare you, not yet, have I come unto Corinth:

Pongo a Dios como mi testigo que la razón por la que decidí no ir a Corinto fue para no causarles dolor.

24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are, helpers, of your joy, for, by your faith, ye stand.

El propósito de esto no es dictarles la manera en que deben relacionarse con Dios, sino porque queremos ayudarlos a tener una experiencia de gozo, porque es a través de la fe en Dios que permanecemos firmes.
