2 Corinthians 2
1 For I have determined, unto myself, this—not, again, in grief, to come unto you.
Pero fue mi decisión, no hacerles otra visita que les causara tristeza.
2 For, if, I, grieve you, who then is he that is to gladden me, —save he who is being grieved through me;
Porque si les doy tristeza, ¿quién me alegrará, sino el que se entristece por mí?
3 And I wrote this very thing—lest, if I came, I should have, grief, from those over whom I had need to rejoice, —having confidence in you all, that, my joy, is the joy, of you all.
Y dije esto mismo en mi carta, para que cuando llegue no tenga tristezas de parte de aquellos de quien me debería regocijar; confiando en ustedes todos que mi gozo es él de todos ustedes.
4 For, out of much tribulation and anguish of heart, wrote I unto you, through many tears, —not that ye might be grieved, but that, the love, ye might know, which I have very abundantly unto you.
Porque por la mucha aflicción y angustia del corazón y mucho llanto, les envié mi carta; no para causarles dolor, sino para que vean cuán grande es el amor que tengo hacia ustedes.
5 Now, if anyone hath caused grief, not unto me hath he caused grief, but—that I may not bear too heavily—unto you all.
Pero si alguien ha sido motivo de dolor, lo ha sido, no solo para mí, sino en cierta medida para todos ustedes (digo esto para no ser demasiado duro con ustedes).
6 Sufficient, unto such a one, the punishment itself which [was inflicted] by the many;
Que sea suficiente para que tal hombre haya pasado por el castigo que la iglesia le impuso;
7 So that, on the contrary, ye should forgive and encourage, lest, by any means, by his excessive grief, such a one should be swallowed up.
De modo que ahora, por otro lado, deben de perdonarlo y consolarlo para que no sea consumido en tanta tristeza.
8 Wherefore, I beseech you, assure him, of love;
Por lo cual les ruego que le confirmen su amor por él y lo restauren.
9 For, to this end, I also wrote, —that I might know the proof of you, whether, in all things, ye are obedient.
Y por la misma razón les escribí una carta para estar seguro de que son obedientes en todas las cosas.
10 Now, to whom ye forgive anything, I, also; for, I also, what I have forgiven, if, anything, I have forgiven, for your sake, in the person of Christ, [have I forgiven it].
Pero si le das perdón a alguien, yo hago lo mismo: porque si he dado perdón por algo, lo he hecho por ustedes en la persona de Cristo;
11 Lest we should be overreached by Satan, for, of his thoughts, we are not ignorant.
Para que Satanás no gane ventaja, porque no somos ignorantes de sus maquinaciones.
12 Moreover, although I came unto Troas for the glad-message of the Christ, and a door for me had been opened in the Lord,
Cuando vine a Troas en busca de las buenas nuevas de Cristo, y había una puerta abierta para mí en el Señor,
13 I had no relief in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but, taking my leave of them, I came away into Macedonia.
No tuve descanso en mi espíritu porque Tito, mi hermano, no estaba allí; así que me alejé de ellos, y vino a Macedonia.
14 But, unto God, be thanks, who, ever, leadeth us in triumph in the Christ, and, the fragrance of the knowledge of him, maketh manifest, through us, in every place,
Pero gracias sea a Dios, él cual, nos lleva siempre en triunfo en Cristo, y por medio de nosotros da a conocer su mensaje, el cual se esparce por todas partes como un aroma agradable.
15 That, of Christ, a grateful odour, are we, unto God, —in them who are being saved, and in them who are being lost:
Porque para Dios Somos un grato olor de Cristo en los que se salvan, y en los que van a la destrucción;
16 In these, indeed, a fragrance out of death into death, but, in those, a fragrance out of life into life. And, for these things, who is sufficient?
a estos perfume de muerte a muerte; para el otro un perfume de vida a vida. Y para estas cosas, ¿Y quién es suficiente para tales cosas?
17 For we are not, as the many, driving a petty trade with the word of God; but, as of sincerity, but, as of God, before God, in Christ, we speak.
Porque no somos como el gran número que hace uso de la palabra de Dios con fines de lucro; al contrario, hablamos con sinceridad delante de Dios, como enviados suyos que somos y por nuestra unión con Cristo.
