2 Chronicles 6
1 Then, said Solomon, —Yahweh, said, that he would make his habitation in thick gloom;
Entonces Salomón dijo: Yavé dijo que Él moraría en densa oscuridad.
2 But, I, have built a house as a home for thee, —A settled place for thee to abide in, for ages.
Yo te edifiqué una Casa sublime, un lugar donde mores para siempre.
3 And the king turned about his face, and blessed all the convocation of Israel, —while, all the convocation of Israel, was standing;
Toda la congregación de Israel se mantenía en pie. El rey volvió su rostro y bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel:
4 and he said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who spake with his mouth, unto David my father, -and, with his hand, hath fulfilled, saying:
Bendito sea Yavé ʼElohim de Israel, Quien cumplió con su mano lo que habló con su boca a mi padre David, al decir:
5 From the day I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I made choice of no city, out of all the tribes of Israel, for building a house, where my Name might be, —neither made I choice of any man, to be chief ruler over my people Israel:
Desde el día cuando saqué a mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, no escogí ninguna ciudad de entre las tribus de Israel para edificar una Casa donde esté mi Nombre, ni escogí a algún hombre para que sea caudillo de mi pueblo Israel.
6 nevertheless I have made choice of Jerusalem, that my Name might be there, —and I have made choice of David, that he might be over my people Israel.
Pero escogí a Jerusalén para que mi Nombre more allí, y escogí a David para que fuera rey de mi pueblo Israel.
7 And so it came to pass, that it was near the heart of David my father, —to build a house, to the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel.
El anhelo de edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yavé ʼElohim de Israel estuvo en el corazón de mi padre David.
8 Then said Yahweh unto David my father, Because it was near thy heart to build a house for my Name, thou didst well that it was near thy heart:
Pero Yavé dijo a mi padre David: Bien hiciste al tener en tu corazón edificar Casa a mi Nombre, porque tuviste esto en tu corazón,
9 Only, thou thyself, must not build the house, —but, thine own son, that proceedeth out of thy loins—he, shall build the house for my Name.
pero tú no edificarás la Casa, sino tu hijo edificará la Casa a mi Nombre.
10 So then Yahweh hath established his word, which he spake, —and I have been raised up instead of David my father, and have taken my seat upon the throne of Israel, as spake Yahweh, and have built the house to the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel;
Yavé cumplió su Palabra, pues yo me levanté en lugar de mi padre David y me senté en el trono de Israel, tal como Yavé habló, y edifiqué la Casa al Nombre de Yavé ʼElohim de Israel.
11 and have put there, the ark, —wherein is the covenant of Yahweh, —which he solemnised with the sons of Israel.
Puse allí el Arca en la cual está el Pacto que Yavé hizo con los hijos de Israel.
12 Then stood he before the altar of Yahweh, in the presence of all the convocation of Israel, —and spread forth his hands;
Entonces Salomón se levantó en pie delante del altar de Yavé frente a la congregación de Israel y extendió sus manos.
13 for Solomon had made a platform of bronze, and had set it in the midst of the enclosure, five cubits, the length thereof, and, five cubits, the breadth thereof, and, three cubits, the height thereof, -and he stood thereon, and knelt upon his knees, in the presence of all the convocation of Israel, and spread forth his hands, heavenward;
Salomón había hecho una plataforma de bronce y la puso en medio del patio. Tanto su longitud como su anchura eran de 2,25 metros y su altura 1,35 metros. Se levantó sobre ella, se arrodilló delante de toda la congregación de Israel, extendió sus manos al cielo y dijo:
14 and said, O Yahweh! God of Israel, Not like unto thee, is there a god, in the heavens, or throughout the earth, —who keepest Covenant and Lovingkindness for thy servants who are walking before thee with all their heart:
Oh Yavé ʼElohim de Israel, no hay ʼElohim como Tú en el cielo ni en la tierra. Tú guardas el Pacto y la misericordia a tus esclavos que andan delante de Ti con todo su corazón.
15 who hast kept, for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, —in that thou didst promise with thy mouth, and, with thy hand, hast fulfilled, as [it is] this day.
Tú cumpliste lo que prometiste a tu esclavo David, mi padre. Cumpliste con tu mano lo que prometiste con tu boca como se ve hoy.
16 Now, therefore, O Yahweh—God of Israel, keep thou, for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not be cut off to thee a man, from before me, to sit upon the throne of Israel, if only, thy sons take heed to their way, to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
Ahora pues, oh Yavé ʼElohim de Israel, cumple lo que le prometiste a tu esclavo David, mi padre: No te faltará varón que se siente en el trono de Israel delante de Mí, con tal que tus hijos guarden su camino para andar en mi Ley, como tú anduviste delante de Mí.
17 Now, therefore, O Yahweh, God of Israel, -verified be thy promise, which thou didst make unto thy servant David.
Ahora pues, oh Yavé ʼElohim de Israel, te ruego que sea confirmada tu Palabra que hablaste a tu esclavo David.
18 But, in very deed, will God dwell with man on the earth? Lo! the heavens, even the leaven of heavens, cannot contain thee, how much less this house which I have built!
Pero, ¿en verdad ʼElohim morará con el hombre en la tierra? Ciertamente el cielo y el más alto cielo no te pueden contener, ¡cuánto menos esta Casa que edifiqué!
19 Wilt thou then turn unto the prayer of thy servant and unto his supplication, O Yahweh my God, —to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer, wherewith thy servant is praying before thee:
Sin embargo, oh Yavé ʼElohim mío, Tú prestarás atención a la oración de tu esclavo y su súplica, para oír el clamor y la oración que tu esclavo presenta ante Ti,
20 that thine eyes may be open toward this house, day and night, toward the place of which thou hast said thou wouldst set thy Name there, —to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant may pray towards this place:
a fin de que tus ojos estén abiertos hacia esta Casa día y noche, hacia el lugar del cual dijiste que pondrías allí tu Nombre para escuchar la oración que tu esclavo haga hacia este lugar.
21 wilt thou therefore hearken unto the supplications of thy servant, and thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place, —yea wilt, thou thyself, hear, out of thine own dwelling-place, out of the heavens, and, when thou hearest, then wilt thou forgive?
Tú escucharás las súplicas de tu esclavo y de tu pueblo Israel cuando oren hacia este lugar. Escucha Tú desde el lugar de tu morada en el cielo, y cuando escuches, perdona.
22 If a man shall sin against his neighbour, and there shall be laid upon him an oath, to put him on oath, —and an oath shall come before thine altar in this house,
Cuando un hombre peque contra otro, y se le exija juramento, y entre en esta Casa para jurar ante tu altar,
23 then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, and act, and judge thy servants, bringing back unto the lawless, to set his way upon his own head, —and justifying the righteous, by giving to him, according to his righteousness?
escucha Tú desde el cielo, actúa y juzga a tus esclavos, condena al perverso, para que caiga su conducta sobre su propia cabeza y justifica al justo, a fin de retribuirle según su justicia.
24 Or, if thy people Israel be smitten before an enemy, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they turn, and confess thy Name, and pray and make supplication before thee, in this house,
Cuando tu pueblo Israel sea derrotado por el enemigo porque pecó contra Ti, si ellos se vuelven a Ti, confiesan tu Nombre, oran y te suplican en esta Casa,
25 then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, —and bring them back unto the soil, which thou didst give to them and to their fathers?
escucha Tú desde el cielo, perdona el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y devuélvelos a la tierra que les diste a ellos y a sus antepasados.
26 When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they shall pray towards this place, and shall confess thy Name, from their sin, shall return, because thou hast been afflicting them,
Cuando los cielos estén cerrados y no caiga lluvia porque ellos pecaron contra Ti, si oran hacia este lugar, confiesan tu Nombre y se devuelven de su pecado por el cual los afligiste,
27 then wilt, thou thyself, hear [out of] the heavens and forgive the sin of thy servants, and thy people Israel, that thou mayest direct them into the good way, wherein they should walk, —and give rain, upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people, for an inheritance?
escucha Tú desde el cielo y perdona el pecado de tus esclavos y de tu pueblo Israel. Ciertamente, enséñales el buen camino por el cual deben andar y dales lluvia sobre tu tierra que diste a tu pueblo como herencia.
28 When there shall be, a famine, in the land, when there shall be, a pestilence, —when there shall be, blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar, —when their enemy shall besiege them in the land at their own gates-whatsoever plague or whatsoever sickness; -
Cuando venga hambruna en la tierra, cuando haya pestilencia, honguillo o parásito, saltamontes o pulgón, o cuando sus enemigos lo acosen en sus propias puertas, cualquiera que sea la plaga o la enfermedad,
29 whatsoever prayer, whatsoever supplication, which any son of earth may have, or any of thy people Israel, —when any man shall come to know his plague, or his pain, and so he shall spread abroad his hands towards this house—
toda oración o toda súplica que haga cualquier persona de todo tu pueblo Israel, y reconozca cada uno su aflicción y su dolor y extiendan sus manos hacia esta Casa,
30 then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, the settled place of thine abode, and forgive, and grant to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou wilt know, —for, thou thyself alone, knowest the heart of the sons of men:
escucha Tú desde el cielo, el lugar de tu morada, y perdona. Retribuye conforme a todos sus procedimientos a cada uno cuyo corazón Tú conoces, porque solo Tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de hombres,
31 to the end they may revere thee, to walk in thy ways, all the days which they shall be living upon the face of the soil, —which thou gavest unto their fathers?
para que te teman y anden en tus caminos todos los días que vivan en la tierra que Tú diste a nuestros antepasados.
32 Moreover also, unto the stranger who is not, of thy people Israel, but he shall come in out of a far country—for the sake of thy great Name, and of thy strong hand, and of thine outstretched arm, —and so they shall come in and pray towards this house,
También con respecto al extranjero que no es de tu pueblo Israel, cuando venga de una tierra lejana por causa de tu gran Nombre, tu poderosa mano y tu brazo extendido, y venga y ore hacia esta Casa,
33 then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, out of the settled place of thine abode, and do according to all for which the stranger shall cry unto thee, —to the end that all the peoples of the earth may know thy Name, so as to revere thee like thy people Israel, and know that, thy Name, hath been given unto this house, which I have built?
escucha Tú desde el cielo, desde tu morada. Haz según todo lo que el extranjero te pida, para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre, te teman como tu pueblo Israel y sepan que a tu Nombre está consagrada esta Casa.
34 When thy people shall go forth to war against their enemies, whithersoever thou mayest send them, —and shall pray unto thee in the direction of this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy Name,
Cuando tu pueblo salga a la batalla contra sus enemigos, cualquiera que sea el camino en el cual lo envíes, y ore a Ti hacia esta ciudad que escogiste, hacia la Casa que construí a tu Nombre,
35 then wilt thou hear, out of the heavens, their prayer and their supplication, —and maintain their right.
escucha Tú desde el cielo su oración y su súplica, y ampara su causa.
36 When they sin against thee—for there is no son of earth who sinneth not—and thou shalt be angry with them, and deliver them up before an enemy, —who shall carry them away as their captives into a land—far away or near;
Cuando pequen contra Ti, porque no hay hombre que no peque, y Tú, airado contra ellos, los entregues al enemigo, y sus captores los lleven cautivos a una tierra lejana o cercana,
37 and they come back to their right mind, in the land whither they have been taken captive, —and so turn and make supplication unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and been lawless; —
si en la tierra adonde sean llevados cautivos ellos recapacitan, y en su cautiverio se arrepienten y te suplican, y dicen: Pecamos, hicimos iniquidad, actuamos perversamente;
38 and so turn unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captive, —and shall pray in the direction of their own land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and the city which thou hast chosen, and unto the house which I have built for thy Name,
si en la tierra de su cautiverio adonde fueron llevados cautivos, ellos se devuelven a Ti con todo su corazón y toda su alma, y oran a Ti en dirección a la tierra que diste a sus antepasados, hacia la ciudad que Tú escogiste, hacia la Casa que construí a tu Nombre,
39 then wilt thou hear out of the heavens—out of the settled place of thine abode—their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, —and forgive thy people, that wherein they sinned against thee?
escucha Tú desde el cielo su oración y sus súplicas, el lugar de tu morada, ampara su causa y perdona a tu pueblo que pecó contra Ti.
40 Now, O my God, let—I beseech thee—thine eyes be open, and thine ears attent, —unto the prayer of this place.
Ahora pues, oh ʼElohim mío, te ruego que tus ojos estén abiertos y tus oídos atentos a la oración que se eleva en este lugar.
41 Now, therefore, arise! O Yahweh God, unto thy rest, thou, and the ark of thy strength: Thy priests, O Yahweh God, let them be clothed with salvation, and, thy men of lovingkindness, let them rejoice in prosperity.
Entonces, ¡levántate, oh Yavé ʼElohim, a morar en tu reposo, Tú y el Arca de tu poder! ¡Vístanse de salvación tus sacerdotes, oh Yavé ʼElohim, y regocíjense tus santos en tu bondad!
42 O Yahweh God! do not turn away thy face from thine Anointed One, —oh remember lovingkindness unto David thy servant.
¡Oh Yavé ʼElohim, no rechaces a tu ungido! Acuérdate de tus misericordias hacia tu esclavo David.
