2 Chronicles 23
1 And, in the seventh year, Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the rulers of hundreds—even Azariah son of Jeroham, and Ishmael son of Jehohanan, and Azariah son of Obed, and Maaseiah son of Adaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri—unto himself, in covenant.
Men i det sjunde året tog Jojada mod till sig och förband sig med underhövitsmännen Asarja, Jerohams son, Ismael, Johanans son, Asarja, Obeds son, Maaseja, Adajas son, och Elisafat, Sikris son.
2 And they went round throughout Judah, and gathered together the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the ancestral chiefs of Israel, —and they came into Jerusalem.
Dessa foro därefter omkring i Juda och församlade leviterna ur alla Juda städer, så ock huvudmännen för Israels familjer. Och när de kommo till Jerusalem,
3 And all the convocation solemnised a covenant in the house of God, with the king, —and he said to them, Lo! the king’s son must reign, as spake Yahweh concerning the sons of David.
Slöt hela församlingen i Guds hus ett förbund med konungen. Och Jojada sade till dem: "Konungens son skall nu vara konung, såsom HERREN har talat angående Davids söner.
4 This, is the thing that ye shall do, —A third of you entering on the sabbath, both of the priests and of the Levites, as doorkeepers of the porch;
Detta är alltså vad I skolen göra: en tredjedel av eder, nämligen de präster och leviter som hava att inträda i vakthållningen på sabbaten, skall stå på vakt vid trösklarna
5 and a third, being in the house of the king, and a third, at the foundation gate, —and all the people, being in the courts of the house of Yahweh,
och en tredjedel vid konungshuset och en tredjedel vid Jesodporten; och allt folket skall vara på förgårdarna till HERRENS hus.
6 then let no one enter the house of Yahweh, save only the priests, and they who are in attendance of the Levites, they, may enter, for, holy, they are, -but, all the people, shall keep the watch of Yahweh.
Dock må ingen annan än prästerna och de tjänstgörande leviterna gå in i HERRENS hus; dessa må gå in, ty de äro heliga. Men allt det övriga folket skall iakttaga vad HERREN har bjudit dem iakttaga.
7 So shall the Levites encompass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand, and, he that entereth into the house, shall be put to death. Thus be ye with the king, when he cometh in and when he goeth out.
Och leviterna skola ställa sig runt omkring konungen, var och en med sina vapen i handen; och om någon vill tränga sig in i huset, skall han dödas. Och I skolen följa konungen, vare sig han går in eller ut."
8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and they took every man his men, who were coming in on the sabbath, with them who were going out on the sabbath, —for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
Leviterna och hela Juda gjorde allt vad prästen Jojada hade bjudit dem, var och en av dem tog sina män, både de som skulle inträda i vakthållningen på sabbaten och de som skulle avgå därifrån på sabbaten, ty prästen Jojada lät ingen avdelning vara fri ifrån tjänstgöring.
9 And Jehoiada the priest gave unto the captains of hundreds, the spears and the bucklers and the shields, which belonged to King David, —which were in the house of God.
Och prästen Jojada gav åt underhövitsmännen de spjut och de sköldar av olika slag, som hade tillhört konung David, och som funnos i Guds hus.
10 And be caused all the people to stand, even every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right corner of the house as far as the left corner of the house, by the altar and the house, —near the king round about.
Och han ställde upp allt folket, var och en med sitt vapen i handen, från husets södra sida till husets norra sida, mot altaret och mot huset, runt omkring konungen.
11 Then brought they forth the king’s son, and set upon him the crown and the testimony, and made him king, —and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, May the king live!
Därefter förde de ut konungasonen och satte på honom kronan och gåvo honom vittnesbördet och gjorde honom till konung; och Jojada och hans söner smorde honom och ropade: "Leve konungen!"
12 Now, when Athaliah heard the noise of the people who were running, and those who were praising the king, —then came she unto the people in the house of Yahweh;
När Atalja nu hörde folkets rop, då de skyndade fram och hyllade konungen, gick hon in i HERRENS hus till folket.
13 and looked, and lo! the king, standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing, and blowing with trumpets, and the singers, with instruments of song, and such as led the offering of praise, then Athaliah rent her garments, and said, Conspiracy! conspiracy!
Där fick hon då se konungen stå vid sin pelare, nära ingången, och hövitsmännen och trumpetblåsarna bredvid konungen, och fick höra huru hela folkmängden jublade och stötte i trumpeterna, och huru sångarna med sina instrumenter ledde hyllningssången. Då rev Atalja sönder sina kläder och ropade: "Sammansvärjning! Sammansvärjning!"
14 Then Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds, officers of the force, and said unto them, Take her forth within the ranks, and he that cometh in after her let him be slain with the sword, —for, said the priest, Ye must not slay her in the house of Yahweh!
Men prästen Jojada lät underhövitsmännen som anförde skaran träda fram, och han sade till dem: "Fören henne ut mellan leden, och om någon följer henne, så må han dödas med svärd." Prästen förbjöd dem nämligen att döda henne i HERRENS hus.
15 So they made way for her, and she came into the entrance of the horse-gate of the house of the king, —and they slew her there.
Alltså grepo de henne, och när hon hade kommit fram dit där Hästporten för in i konungshuset, dödade de henne där.
16 And Jehoiada solemnised a covenant, between himself and all the people, and the king, —that they should become a people unto Yahweh.
Och Jojada slöt ett förbund mellan sig och allt folket och konungen, att de skulle vara ett HERRENS folk.
17 Then all the people entered into the house of Baal and brake it down, and, his altars and his images, brake they in pieces, —and, Mattan the priest of Baal, they slew, before the altars.
Och allt folket begav sig till Baals tempel och rev ned det och slog sönder dess altaren och bilder; och Mattan, Baals präst, dräpte de framför altarna.
18 And Jehoiada put the oversight of the house of Yahweh into the hand of the priests and the Levites, whom David set by courses over the house of Yahweh, that they might offer up the ascending-sacrifices of Yahweh, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with song, —under the direction of David.
Därefter ställde Jojada ut vakter vid HERRENS hus och betrodde detta värv åt de levitiska prästerna, dem som David hade indelat i klasser för tjänstgöringen i HERRENS hus, till att offra brännoffer åt HERREN, såsom det var föreskrivet i Moses lag, med jubel och sång, efter Davids anordning.
19 And he caused gatekeepers to stand, at the gates of the house of Yahweh, —that no one who was unclean should, on any account, enter.
Och han ställde dörrvaktarna vid portarna till HERRENS hus, för att ingen skulle komma in, som på något sätt var oren.
20 Then took he the captains of hundreds—and the nobles—and the rulers over the people—and all the people of the land, and brought down the king out of the house of Yahweh, and they entered, through the midst of the upper gate, into the house of the king, —and they seated the king, upon the throne of the kingdom.
Och han tog med sig underhövitsmännen och de förnämsta och mäktigaste bland folket och hela folkmängden och förde konungen ned från HERRENS hus, och de gingo in i konungshuset genom Övre porten; och de satte konungen på konungatronen.
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and, the city, was quiet, —when, Athaliah, they had slain with the sword.
Och hela folkmängden gladde sig, och staden förblev lugn. Men Atalja hade de dödat med svärd.
