< 2 Chronicles 23 >
1 And, in the seventh year, Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the rulers of hundreds—even Azariah son of Jeroham, and Ishmael son of Jehohanan, and Azariah son of Obed, and Maaseiah son of Adaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri—unto himself, in covenant.
Naye mu mwaka ogw’omusanvu Yekoyaada n’alaga obuyinza bwe. N’akola endagaano n’abaduumizi ab’ebibinja eby’ekikumi, era baali Azaliya mutabani wa Yekokamu, ne Isimayiri mutabani wa Yekokanani, ne Azaliya mutabani wa Obedi, ne Maaseya mutabani wa Adaya, ne Erisafaati mutabani wa Zikuli.
2 And they went round throughout Judah, and gathered together the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the ancestral chiefs of Israel, —and they came into Jerusalem.
Ne bagenda mu Yuda yonna ne bakuŋŋaanya Abaleevi n’abakulembeze b’ennyumba za bajjajja ba Isirayiri okuva mu bibuga byonna ebya Yuda ne bajja e Yerusaalemi.
3 And all the convocation solemnised a covenant in the house of God, with the king, —and he said to them, Lo! the king’s son must reign, as spake Yahweh concerning the sons of David.
Ekibiina kyonna ne bakola endagaano ne kabaka mu yeekaalu ya Katonda. Awo Yekoyaada n’abagamba nti, “Mutabani wa kabaka y’alifuga, nga Mukama bwe yasuubiza bazzukulu ba Dawudi.
4 This, is the thing that ye shall do, —A third of you entering on the sabbath, both of the priests and of the Levites, as doorkeepers of the porch;
Era bwe muti bwe munaakola: kimu kya kusatu ku mmwe bakabona n’Abaleevi abanaaberanga ku luwalo ku ssabbiiti munaakuumanga wankaaki,
5 and a third, being in the house of the king, and a third, at the foundation gate, —and all the people, being in the courts of the house of Yahweh,
ate kimu kya kusatu ekirala munaakuumanga olubiri lwa kabaka, n’ekimu kya kusatu ekirala munaakuumanga Omulyango ogw’Omusingi, n’abantu abalala bonna banaabeeranga mu luggya olwa yeekaalu ya Mukama.
6 then let no one enter the house of Yahweh, save only the priests, and they who are in attendance of the Levites, they, may enter, for, holy, they are, -but, all the people, shall keep the watch of Yahweh.
Tewabanga n’omu ayingira mu yeekaalu ya Mukama wabula bakabona, n’Abaleevi abanaabeeranga mu luwalo; abo banaayingiranga kubanga batukuvu, naye abantu abalala bonna banaagobereranga ekyo Mukama kye yalagira.
7 So shall the Levites encompass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand, and, he that entereth into the house, shall be put to death. Thus be ye with the king, when he cometh in and when he goeth out.
Abaleevi banaayimiriranga okwetooloola kabaka, buli omu ku bo ng’akutte ebyokulwanyisa bye mu mukono gwe, na buli anaayingiranga mu yeekaalu wa kuttibwa. Mubeere kumpi nnyo ne kabaka, buli gy’anaalaganga.”
8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and they took every man his men, who were coming in on the sabbath, with them who were going out on the sabbath, —for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
Abaleevi n’abantu bonna aba Yuda ne bakola nga Yekoyaada kabona bwe yalagira. Buli omu ku bo n’atwala abasajja be, abo abaali mu luwalo ku Ssabbiiti, wamu n’abo abaali bamaliriza olwabwe, kubanga Yekoyaada kabona yali tannabagaba mu mpalo.
9 And Jehoiada the priest gave unto the captains of hundreds, the spears and the bucklers and the shields, which belonged to King David, —which were in the house of God.
N’awa abaduumizi ab’ekikumi amafumu, n’engabo ennene, n’engabo entono, ebyali ebya Kabaka Dawudi, ebyabeeranga mu yeekaalu ya Katonda.
10 And be caused all the people to stand, even every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right corner of the house as far as the left corner of the house, by the altar and the house, —near the king round about.
Era n’ateekateeka buli musajja okuba omukuumi wa kabaka, nga buli omu ku bo akutte ekyokulwanyisa mu mukono gwe, nga beetoolodde kabaka, n’okwetooloola ekyoto ne yeekaalu, okuva mu bukiikaddyo, okutuuka ku bukiikakkono obwa yeekaalu.
11 Then brought they forth the king’s son, and set upon him the crown and the testimony, and made him king, —and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, May the king live!
Awo Yekoyaada ne batabani be ne bafulumya mutabani wa kabaka ne bamutikkira engule ey’obwakabaka, ne bakola endagaano, era ne bamulangirira okuba kabaka. Ne bamufukako amafuta, ne boogera mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, “Wangaala kabaka!”
12 Now, when Athaliah heard the noise of the people who were running, and those who were praising the king, —then came she unto the people in the house of Yahweh;
Naye Asaliya bwe yawulira oluyoogaano lw’abantu nga badduka era nga batendereza kabaka, n’agenda gye bali mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.
13 and looked, and lo! the king, standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing, and blowing with trumpets, and the singers, with instruments of song, and such as led the offering of praise, then Athaliah rent her garments, and said, Conspiracy! conspiracy!
N’atunula, laba, kabaka ng’ayimiridde okuliraana empagi ye ku mulyango, n’abakungu n’abafuuwa amakondeere nga bayimiridde okumwetooloola, era nga n’abantu bonna ab’ensi nga basanyuka nga bafuuwa n’amakondeere, n’abayimbi nga bakutte ebivuga byabwe nga bakulembedde okujaguza. Awo Asaliya n’ayuza ebyambalo bye, n’aleekaanira waggulu nti, “Bujeemu! Bujeemu!”
14 Then Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds, officers of the force, and said unto them, Take her forth within the ranks, and he that cometh in after her let him be slain with the sword, —for, said the priest, Ye must not slay her in the house of Yahweh!
Yekoyaada kabona n’atuma abaduumizi ab’ebibinja eby’ekikumi, abaavunaanyizibwanga eggye, n’abagamba nti, “Mumufulumye mumuteeke wakati w’enyiriri, mutte n’ekitala omuntu yenna anaamugoberera.” Kabona yali ayogedde nti, “Temumuttira mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.”
15 So they made way for her, and she came into the entrance of the horse-gate of the house of the king, —and they slew her there.
Bwe yali ng’anaatera okutuuka ku mulyango ogw’embalaasi mu luggya olwokubiri, ne bamukwata ne bamuttira eyo.
16 And Jehoiada solemnised a covenant, between himself and all the people, and the king, —that they should become a people unto Yahweh.
Awo Yekoyaada n’akola endagaano wakati we n’abantu bonna era ne kabaka, nti baliba bantu ba Mukama.
17 Then all the people entered into the house of Baal and brake it down, and, his altars and his images, brake they in pieces, —and, Mattan the priest of Baal, they slew, before the altars.
Abantu bonna ne bagenda mu ssabo lya Baali ne balimenyaamenya, ne bamenyaamenya n’ebyoto bye n’ebifaananyi bye, era ne battira ne Matani kabona wa Baali mu maaso g’ebyoto bya Baali.
18 And Jehoiada put the oversight of the house of Yahweh into the hand of the priests and the Levites, whom David set by courses over the house of Yahweh, that they might offer up the ascending-sacrifices of Yahweh, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with song, —under the direction of David.
Awo Yekoyaada n’assaawo abanaalabiriranga yeekaalu ya Mukama, era n’alonda bakabona n’Abaleevi Dawudi be yali awadde obuvunaanyizibwa obw’okuwangayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa eri Mukama, nga bwe kyawandiikibwa mu mateeka ga Musa, nga bajaguza era nga bayimba, nga Dawudi bwe yalagira.
19 And he caused gatekeepers to stand, at the gates of the house of Yahweh, —that no one who was unclean should, on any account, enter.
N’ateeka n’abaggazi ku wankaaki za yeekaalu ya Mukama, waleme okubaawo omuntu yenna atali mulongoofu ayingira.
20 Then took he the captains of hundreds—and the nobles—and the rulers over the people—and all the people of the land, and brought down the king out of the house of Yahweh, and they entered, through the midst of the upper gate, into the house of the king, —and they seated the king, upon the throne of the kingdom.
N’agenda n’abaduumizi ab’ekikumi, n’abakungu, n’abafuzi b’abantu, n’abantu bonna ab’eggwanga, ne baggya kabaka mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, ne bayita mu wankaaki ow’ekyengulu ne balaga mu lubiri lwa kabaka. Ne batuuza kabaka ku ntebe ye ey’obwakabaka.
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and, the city, was quiet, —when, Athaliah, they had slain with the sword.
Abantu bonna ab’ensi ne bajaguza, n’ekibuga ne kitereera, kubanga Asaliya yali attiddwa n’ekitala.
