2 Chronicles 2
1 Then Solomon gave word to build a house for the Name of Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.
Đã đến lúc Sa-lô-môn quyết định xây Đền Thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu và cung điện cho mình.
2 And Solomon numbered seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men to hew in the mountain, —and, to oversee them, three thousand six hundred.
Vua tuyển 70.000 phu khuân vác, 80.000 thợ đẽo đá trên núi, và 3.600 đốc công.
3 And Solomon sent unto Huram king of Tyre, saying, —As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him a house to dwell in,
Sa-lô-môn gửi một thông điệp tới Vua Hi-ram tại Ty-rơ: “Vua đã gửi gỗ bá hương đến Vua Đa-vít, cha tôi xây cung điện. Vậy xin vua cũng cung cấp cho tôi như thế.
4 lo! I, am about to build a house for the Name of Yahweh my God, to hallow unto him—to burn before him sweet incense, and for a continual setting in array, and to offer ascending-sacrifices morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the appointed feasts of Yahweh our God, -age-abiding, is this [law] for Israel.
Tôi dự định xây cất Đền Thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của tôi, để dâng hương, bày bánh thánh, dâng lễ thiêu buổi sáng buổi chiều, lễ Sa-bát, ngày trăng mới, và những ngày lễ khác cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng tôi. Đó là những nghi lễ đời đời cho dân tộc chúng tôi.
5 And, the house which I am about to build, [must be] great, —for great is our God, above all gods.
Đức Chúa Trời chúng tôi vô cùng siêu việt, cao cả hơn các thần, nên Đền Thờ tôi xây cất phải nguy nga tráng lệ.
6 But who is able to build unto him a house? for, the heavens, even the heaven of heavens, cannot contain him, —who then am, I, that I should build unto him a house, though only to burn incense before him?
Thật ra không ai có khả năng xây nhà cho Chúa. Nếu tầng trời bao la kia còn không đủ chỗ cho Ngài ngự, thì tôi là ai mà xây cất được Đền Thờ cho Ngài? Tôi chỉ mong xây cất được một nơi để dâng hương lên Chúa mà thôi.
7 Now, therefore, send me a wise man, to work in gold and in silver and in bronze and in iron, and in purple and crimson and blue, and skilful to execute gravings, —with the wise men who are with me, in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom my father David did provide.
Vậy, xin vua chỉ định một người vừa giỏi luyện kim để chế tạo khí cụ vàng bạc, đồng, sắt, vừa khéo dệt hàng đủ các màu sắc. Người ấy phải có tài điêu khắc để hợp tác với các thợ thủ công tại Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem, tức là những người mà Đa-vít, cha tôi, đã tuyển chọn.
8 And send me—timbers of cedar, cypress and sandal-wood, out of the Lebanon, for, I, know that, thy servants, are skilful, to cut the timbers of Lebanon, —and lo! my servants shall be with thy servants:
Xin vua cũng cho đốn từ Li-ban các loại bá hương, tùng, bạch đàn hương để gửi cho tôi, vì vua có nhiều thợ gỗ chuyên việc hạ cây rừng Li-ban. Tôi cũng sẽ gửi người đến phụ họ.
9 yea to prepare me timbers in abundance, —for, the house which I am about to build, [must be] great and most wonderful.
Số lượng gỗ cần dùng sẽ rất nhiều, vì Đền Thờ tôi dự định xây cất thật nguy nga tráng lệ.
10 And lo! for the hewers that cut the timbers, have I given wheat as food for thy servants, twenty thousand measures, and barley, twenty thousand measures, and wine, twenty thousand baths, and oil, twenty thousand baths.
Tôi sẽ cung cấp đầy đủ thực phẩm cho thợ gỗ của vua, gồm 3.640.000 lít bột mì, 3.640.000 lít lúa mạch, 420.000 lít rượu và 420.000 lít dầu ô-liu.”
11 Then answered Huram king of Tyre, in writing, which he sent unto Solomon, —Because Yahweh hath loved his people, hath he set thee over them as king.
Vua Hi-ram phúc đáp lời yêu cầu của Sa-lô-môn: “Chúa Hằng Hữu thật yêu thương dân Ngài, nên mới lập vua lên ngôi nước họ!
12 And Huram said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth, —who hath given, unto David the king, a wise son, skilled in prudence and understanding, who will build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.
Đáng ngợi tôn Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, là Đấng sáng tạo trời và đất, vì Ngài đã ban cho Vua Đa-vít một con trai khôn ngoan, có tài khéo léo và hiểu biết, để kiến thiết một Đền Thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu và một cung điện cho mình.
13 Now, therefore, have I sent a wise man, skilled in understanding, pertaining to Huram my father:
Bây giờ, tôi sai một người khéo léo, thông minh để phục vụ vua tên là Hi-ram A-bi.
14 son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a man of Tyre, skilled to work in gold and in silver, in bronze, in iron, in stones and in timber, in purple, in blue and in fine white linen, and in crimson, and to grave any manner of graving, and to devise any manner of device that may be given to him, with thy wise men, and the wise men of my lord David thy father.
Mẹ ông là người đại tộc Đan trong Ít-ra-ên, cha là người Ty-rơ. Người ấy có tài chế các khí cụ bằng vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, đá và gỗ, thạo nghề dệt hàng đủ các màu sắc, cũng thạo nghề điêu khắc nữa. Và người ấy có thể tạo đủ các dụng cụ tinh vi cho vua. Người ấy sẽ cùng làm việc với các thợ thủ công của vua, là những người đã được chúa tôi là Đa-vít, tức cha vua chỉ định.
15 Now, therefore, the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, whereof my lord hath spoken, let him send unto his servants;
Vậy, xin vua hãy cấp cho họ lúa mì, lúa mạch, dầu ô-liu, và rượu như vua đã hứa.
16 and, we, will cut down timbers out of the Lebanon, according to all thy need, and will bring them unto thee in floats, upon the sea to Joppa, —and, thou, shalt fetch them up to Jerusalem.
Chúng tôi sẽ đốn gỗ từ núi Li-ban đủ số vua cần, rồi kết bè, thả ra biển, đưa đến Gióp-ba. Khi ấy, vua sẽ cho chở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.”
17 So Solomon numbered all the men that were sojourners, who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering, wherewith David his father had numbered them, —and they were found to be—a hundred and fifty-three thousand and six hundred.
Sa-lô-môn kiểm kê số ngoại kiều trong Ít-ra-ên, căn cứ theo sổ sách làm từ thời cha người: Tổng số được 153.600 người.
18 And he made up from among them—seventy thousand, to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to hew in the mountain, —and three thousand and six hundred, as overseers, to keep the people at work.
Sa-lô-môn phân công cho 70.000 người khiêng gánh, 80.000 người lên núi đẽo đá, và 3.600 đốc công để điều khiển mọi công tác.
