< 2 Chronicles 19 >
1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned unto his own house in peace, to Jerusalem.
HOI mai la o Iehosapata ke alii o Iuda i kona hale iho ma Ierusalema me ka maluhia.
2 And there came out to meet him, Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, who said unto King Jehoshaphat, Unto the lawless, was it [right] to give help? and, on them who hate Yahweh, to bestow thy love? For this cause, therefore, is there wrath against thee, from before Yahweh;
Hele ae la iwaho e halawai pu me ia o Iehu, ke keiki a Hanani ke kaula, olelo aku la i ke alii ia Iehosapata, E pono anei oe ke kokua i ka poe hewa, a e aloha i ka poe i inaina aku ia Iehova? No keia mea, aia maluna ou ka huhu, mai o Iehova mai.
3 howbeit, good things, are found with thee, -for that thou hast consumed the Sacred Stems out of the land, and hast fixed thy heart to seek God.
Ua loaa no nae kekahi mau mea maikai iloko ou, no ka mea, ua kipaku oe i na kii o Asetarota mai ka aina aku, a ua hoomakaukau oe i kou naau e imi i ke Akua.
4 So Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem, —and he again went forth among the people, from Beersheba as far as the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back unto Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
5 And he stationed judges in the land, throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city;
Hoonoho oia i mau lunakanawai ma ka aina, ma na kulanakauhale o Iuda i paa i ka pa a pau, ma kela kulanakauhale, keia kulanakauhale.
6 and said unto the judges, See what, ye, are doing, inasmuch as, not for man, must ye judge, but for Yahweh, —who will be with you, in the word of justice.
Olelo aku la oia i na lunakanawai, E noonoo oukou i na mea a oukou e hana'i; no ka mea, aole no na kanaka oukou e hooponopono ai, no Iehova no, a oia pu kekahi me oukou i ka hooponopono ana.
7 Now, therefore, let the dread of Yahweh be upon you, —observe and do, for there is, with Yahweh our God, neither perversity nor respect of persons nor the taking of bribes.
Nolaila e kauia mai ka makau ia Iehova maluna o oukou, e malama, e hana hoi; no ka mea, aohe hewa me Iehova ko kakou Akua, aole ia e manao mai i ko ke kanaka kino, aole hoi ia e lawe i ke kipe.
8 And, even in Jerusalem, did Jehoshaphat station some of the Levites and the priests, and of the ancestral chiefs of Israel, to pronounce the just sentence of Yahweh, and to settle disputes, —when they returned to Jerusalem.
A ma Ierusalema hoi, ua hoonoho o Iehosapata i kekahi poe o na Levi, a me na kahuna, a me kekahi poe luna o na makua o ka Iseraela, e hookolokolo no Iehova i na mea hoopaapaa, i ko lakou hoi ana mai i Ierusalema.
9 And he laid charge upon them, saying, —Thus, shall ye act, in the fear of Yahweh, faithfully and with an undivided heart.
Kauoha aku la oia ia lakou, i aku la, Penei oukou e hana'i me ka makau ia Iehova, a me ka oiaio a me ka naau pololei.
10 Any dispute that shall come in unto you from among your brethren who are dwelling in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment and statutes and regulations, then shall ye warn them, that they may not become guilty against Yahweh, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren, —Thus, shall ye act, and not incur guilt.
A o ka hoopaapaa a pau a ko oukou poe hoahanau e noho ana ma ko oukou kulanakauhale e lawe mai ai io oukou la, mawaena o kekahi koko, a me kekahi koko, a mawaena o ke kanawai, a me ko kauoha, a me na olelo kupaa, a me ka olelo hooponopono, e ao aku oukou ia lakou i hewa ole lakou ia Iehova, o hiki mai ka huhu maluna o oukou, a maluna o ko oukou poe hoahanau: pela oukou e hana'i, a lawehala ole oukou.
11 And lo! Amariah the chief priest, is over you as to every matter of Yahweh, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael the chief ruler for the house of Judah, as to every matter of the king, and, as officers, the Levites are before you, —Be strong and act, and Yahweh be with the good!
E hoihoi oukou, e hana, a o Iehova pu kekahi me ka mea pono.
