2 Chronicles 19
1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned unto his own house in peace, to Jerusalem.
Et Josaphat Roi de Juda revint sain et sauf dans sa maison à Jérusalem.
2 And there came out to meet him, Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, who said unto King Jehoshaphat, Unto the lawless, was it [right] to give help? and, on them who hate Yahweh, to bestow thy love? For this cause, therefore, is there wrath against thee, from before Yahweh;
Et Jéhu fils d'Hanani le Voyant sortit au devant du Roi Josaphat, et lui dit: As-tu donc donné du secours au méchant, et aimes-tu ceux qui haïssent l'Eternel? à cause de cela l'indignation est sur toi de par l'Eternel.
3 howbeit, good things, are found with thee, -for that thou hast consumed the Sacred Stems out of the land, and hast fixed thy heart to seek God.
Mais il s'est trouvé de bonnes choses en toi; puisque tu as ôté du pays les bocages, et que tu as disposé ton cœur pour rechercher Dieu.
4 So Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem, —and he again went forth among the people, from Beersheba as far as the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back unto Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
Depuis cela Josaphat se tint à Jérusalem; toutefois il fit encore la revue du peuple, depuis Béersébah jusqu'à la montagne d'Ephraïm; et il les ramena à l'Eternel le Dieu de leurs pères.
5 And he stationed judges in the land, throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city;
Et il établit des Juges au pays, par toutes les villes fortes de Juda, de ville en ville.
6 and said unto the judges, See what, ye, are doing, inasmuch as, not for man, must ye judge, but for Yahweh, —who will be with you, in the word of justice.
Et il dit aux Juges: Regardez ce que vous ferez, car vous n'exercez pas la justice de la part d'un homme, mais de la part de l'Eternel, qui est au milieu de vous en jugement.
7 Now, therefore, let the dread of Yahweh be upon you, —observe and do, for there is, with Yahweh our God, neither perversity nor respect of persons nor the taking of bribes.
Maintenant donc que la frayeur de l'Eternel soit sur vous; prenez garde à ceci, [et] faites-le, car il n'y a point d'iniquité en l'Eternel notre Dieu, ni d'acception de personnes, ni de réception de présents.
8 And, even in Jerusalem, did Jehoshaphat station some of the Levites and the priests, and of the ancestral chiefs of Israel, to pronounce the just sentence of Yahweh, and to settle disputes, —when they returned to Jerusalem.
Josaphat aussi établit à Jérusalem quelques-uns des Lévites, et des Sacrificateurs, et des Chefs des pères d'Israël, pour le jugement de l'Eternel, et pour les procès; car on revenait à Jérusalem.
9 And he laid charge upon them, saying, —Thus, shall ye act, in the fear of Yahweh, faithfully and with an undivided heart.
Et il leur commanda, en disant: Vous agirez ainsi en la crainte de l'Eternel, avec fidélité, et avec intégrité de cœur.
10 Any dispute that shall come in unto you from among your brethren who are dwelling in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment and statutes and regulations, then shall ye warn them, that they may not become guilty against Yahweh, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren, —Thus, shall ye act, and not incur guilt.
Et quant à tous les différends qui viendront devant vous de la part de vos frères qui habitent dans leurs villes, lorsqu'il faudra juger entre meurtre et meurtre, entre loi et commandement, entre statuts et ordonnances, vous les en instruirez, afin qu'ils ne se trouvent point coupables envers l'Eternel; et que son indignation ne soit point sur vous et sur vos frères; vous agirez donc ainsi, et vous ne serez point trouvés coupables.
11 And lo! Amariah the chief priest, is over you as to every matter of Yahweh, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael the chief ruler for the house of Judah, as to every matter of the king, and, as officers, the Levites are before you, —Be strong and act, and Yahweh be with the good!
Et voici, Amaria le principal Sacrificateur sera au dessus de vous dans toutes les affaires de l'Eternel; et Zébadia fils d'Ismaël sera le conducteur de la maison de Juda, dans toutes les affaires du Roi; et les prévôts Lévites sont devant vous. Fortifiez-vous, et faites ainsi, et l'Eternel sera avec les gens de bien.
