< 1 Samuel 1 >

1 And there was a certain man, of Ramathaim-zuphi, of the hill country of Ephraim, —whose name, was Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, an Ephraimite;
Adda maysa a lalaki iti Rama Zofim, iti katurturodan a pagilian ti Efraim; ti naganna ket Elkana a putot ni Jehoram, ni Jehoram ket putot ni Eliu, ni Eliu ket putot ni Tuho, ni Tuho ket putot ni Zup, ni Elkana ket maysa nga Efraimita.
2 and, he, had two wives, the name of the one, Hannah, and, the name of the other, Peninnah, —and Peninnah had children, but, Hannah, had no children.
Addaan isuna iti dua nga asawa, Ana ti nagan ti umuna, ken Fenina ti nagan ti maikadua. Adda annak ni Fenina, ngem awan ti anak ni Ana.
3 So then that man went up, out of his city, from time to time, to worship and to sacrifice unto Yahweh of hosts, in Shiloh, —and, there, were the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests unto Yahweh.
Tinawen a mapan daytoy a lalaki idiay Silo a siudadna tapno agdayaw ken agidaton kenni Yahweh a mannakabalin amin. Adda sadiay dagiti dua a lallaki a putot ni Eli, da Ofni ken Finees, a papadi ni Yahweh.
4 And, when the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he used to give, to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions;
No kasta a dumteng ti aldaw iti tunggal tawen a panagidaton ni Elkana, kankanayon nga it-itedna kenni Fenina nga asawana ken kadagiti amin nga annakna a lallaki ken babbai dagiti paset ti karne.
5 and, unto Hannah, used he to give one portion, —howbeit, Hannah, he loved, although, Yahweh, had restrained her from having children.
Ngem kenni Ana, kankanayon a mamidua ti kaadu ti it-itedna, ta ay-ayatenna ni Ana, uray no sinerraan ni Yahweh ti aanakanna.
6 And her rival used even to cause her great vexation, for the sake of provoking her, —because Yahweh had restrained her from having children.
Nakaro ti panangumsi kenkuana ti kasalisalna tapno pagpulkokenna isuna, gapu ta inserra ni Yahweh ti aanakanna.
7 And, thus, used she to do, year by year, whenever she went up to the house of Yahweh, thus, used she to vex her, —and she wept, and would not eat.
Isu nga iti tinawen, no kasta a mapan isuna iti balay ni Yahweh a kaduana ti pamiliana, kankanayon a karkariten isuna ni Fenina. Masansan ngarud nga agsangit isuna ken saan a mangmangan.
8 So Elkanah her husband said to her—Hannah! wherefore shouldst thou weep? and wherefore wilt thou not eat? and wherefore should thy heart be sad? Am, I, not better to thee, than ten sons?
Kankanayon nga ibagbaga kenkuana ni Elkana nga asawana, “Ana, apay nga agsangitka? Apay a saanka a mangan? Apay nga agliddaang ti pusom? Saan kadi a nasaysayaatak kenka ngem kadagiti sangapulo nga annak?
9 And Hannah rose up, after she had eaten in Shiloh, and after she had drunk, —and, Eli the priest, was sitting upon his chair, by the door-post of the temple of Yahweh;
Iti maysa kadagitoy a padaya, timmakder ni Ana kalpasan ti pannangan ken panag-iinomda idiay Silo. Ita, nakatugaw ni Eli a padi iti tugawna iti igid ti pagserkan ti balay ni Yahweh.
10 and, she being in bitterness of soul, prayed unto Yahweh, and, wept sore.
Mariribukan unay ni Ana; nagkararag isuna kenni Yahweh ken nagsangit iti nasaem.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said—Yahweh of hosts! If thou wilt, look, upon the humiliation of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then will I give him unto Yahweh, all the days of his life, and no, razor, shall come upon his head.
Nagsapata isuna ket kinunana, “Yahweh a mannakabalin amin, no makitam la koma ti panagrigat ti adipenmo ken lagipennak, ken saanmo a lipaten ti adipenmo, ngem ipaayam ketdi koma ti adipenmo iti anak a lalaki, ngarud, itedkonto isuna kenni Yahweh iti unos ti panagbiagna, ket awanto ti kartib a mangsagid iti ulona.
12 And so it was, as she continued praying before Yahweh, that Eli was watching her mouth.
Bayat nga agkarkararag isuna iti sangoanan ni Yahweh, sipsiputan ni Eli ti ngiwatna.
13 But as for, Hannah, she, was speaking in her heart, only her lips, were moving, but, her voice, could not be heard, —so Eli thought she had been drunken.
Naimpusoan ti panagkararag ni Ana. Agkutkuti dagiti bibigna, ngem saan a mangngeg ti timekna. Impagarup ngarud ni Eli a nabartek isuna.
14 And Eli said unto her, How long, wilt thou be, drunken? Put away thy wine from thee.
Kinuna ni Eli kenkuana, “Kasano pay kapaut ti panagbarbartekmo? Isardengmon ti panagin-inommo.”
15 And Hannah responded and said—Nay! my lord; A woman depressed in spirit, am I: neither wine nor strong drink, have I drunk, —but I poured out my soul, before Yahweh.
Simmungbat ni Ana, “Saan, apok, maysaak a babai a naladingit unay ti espirituna. Saanak nga imminom iti arak wenno naingel a mainom, ngem ibagbagak iti sangoanan ni Yahweh dagiti nakaro a panagladingitko.”
16 Do not count thy handmaid for an abandoned woman, —for, out of the abundance of my grief and my vexation, have I spoken, hitherto.
“Saanmo nga ibilang nga awan babainna a babai ti adipenmo; iyeb-ebkasko iti napalalo a pannakaibabain ken pannakarkaritko.”
17 Then responded Eli, and said—Go and prosper! And the, God of Israel, grant thy petition which thou hast asked of him!
Ket simmungbat ni Eli, kinunana, “Mapanka a sitatalna; patgan koma ti Dios ti Israel ti kiniddawmo kenkuana.”
18 And she said: Let thy serving-woman find favour, in thine eyes. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and, her countenance, was sad no longer.
Kinuna ni Ana, “Nasayaat koma ti panangipapanmo iti adipenmo.” Ket pimmanaw ti babai ket nangan; saanen a naliday ti rupana.
19 And they rose up early in the morning, and worshipped before Yahweh, and returned, and entered their own house, in Ramah, —and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and Yahweh remembered her.
Nasapada a bimmangon iti bigat ket nagdayawda kenni Yahweh, ket kalpasanna, nagsublida manen iti balayda idiay Rama. Kinaidda ni Elkana ni Ana nga asawana, ket nalagip isuna ni Yahweh.
20 And so it was, when the days had come round during which Hannah was with child, that she bare a son, —and called his name Samuel ["Heard of God"], Because, of Yahweh, I asked him.
Idi dimteng ti tiempo, nagsikog ni Ana ket nagpasngay iti maysa a lalaki. Pinanagananna iti Samuel, kunana “Gapu ta dinawatko isuna kenni Yahweh.”
21 And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up, to offer unto Yahweh the yearly sacrifice, and [each] his own vow.
Iti naminsan pay, simmang-at ni Elkana ken ti amin a pamiliana, tapno mangidatag iti tinawen a daton ken tapno tungpalenna ti sapatana.
22 But, Hannah, went not up, —for she said to her husband—[Not] till the boy is weaned, then will I take him, and he shall appear before Yahweh, and abide there evermore.
Ngem saan a napan ni Ana; kinunana iti asawana, “Saanak a mapan agingga a mapusot ti ubing, ket iyegkonto isuna, tapno agparang isuna iti sangoanan ni Yahweh ken agnaed sadiay iti agnanayon.”
23 And Elkanah her husband said to her—Do what is good in thine own eyes, tarry until thou have weaned him, only may Yahweh establish his word! So the woman tarried, and nursed her son, until she weaned him.
Kinuna ni Elkana nga asawana kenkuana, “Aramidem ti ammon a nasayaat kenka. Urayem agingga a mapusotmo isuna; patalgedan koma ngarud ni Yahweh ti saona.” Nagbati ngarud ti babai ken inaywananna ti anakna agingga a naipusotna isuna.
24 Then took she him up with her, when she had weaned him, with a bullock of three years old, and one ephah of meal, and a skin of wine, and took him to the house of Yahweh, at Shiloh, —the boy yet being young.
Idi naipusot ni Ana ti anakna, inkuyogna isuna, nangitugot pay iti maysa a kalakian a baka a tallo ti tawenna, maysa nga efa a taraon, ken maysa a pagkargaan a lalat a naglaon iti arak, ket impanna isuna iti balay ni Yahweh idiay Silo. Ita, ubing pay ti anakna.
25 So they slew the bullock, —and took the boy in, unto Eli.
Pinartida ti kalakian a baka, ket impanda ti ubing kenni Eli.
26 And she said—Pardon, my lord! By the life of thy soul, my lord, —I, am the woman who was standing near thee here, praying unto Yahweh:
Kinuna ni Ana, “O, apok! Agingga a sibibiagka, apok, siak ti babai a nagtakder idi iti abaymo nga agkarkararag kenni Yahweh.
27 For this boy, I prayed, —And Yahweh hath given me my petition which I asked of him.
Ta daytoy nga ubing ket inkararagko ket inted ni Yahweh ti dinawatko kenkuana.
28 Hence, I also, have loaned him unto Yahweh, all the days that he liveth. He, is lent unto Yahweh. And he bowed down there, unto Yahweh.
Intedkon isuna kenni Yahweh; agingga a sibibiag isuna ket agpaayto kenni Yahweh.” Ket sadiay, nagdayaw kenni Yahweh ni Elkana ken ti pamiliana.
