< 1 Samuel 3 >
1 Now, the boy Samuel, was ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli, —and, the word of Yahweh, had become rare in those days, there was no well-known vision.
Camoe Samuel tah Eli mikhmuh ah BOEIPA hamla thotat. Te vaeng tue ah BOEIPA kah ol khaw kuelka pueng tih mangthui khaw pungtai pawh.
2 But it came to pass, at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, his eyes, having begun to be dim, he could not see,
Te khohnin ah Eli tah a hmuen ah yalh. A mik khaw hmaang coeng tih hmu thai voel pawh.
3 though, the lamp of God, was not yet to be put out, and, Samuel, was lying down in the temple of Yahweh, where was the ark of God,

4 that Yahweh called unto Samuel, and he said—Behold me!
Te vaengah Samuel te BOEIPA loh a khue hatah, “Kai ka om he,” a ti nah.
5 So he ran unto Eli and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said—I called not, return—Its down. So he went, and lie down.
Te phoeiah Eli taengla yong tih, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Tedae, “Kang khue moenih, bal lamtah yalh laeh,” a ti nah vanbangla cet tih yalh.
6 And again Yahweh called once there—Samuel! Then rose Samuel, and went unto Eli, and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said—I called not, my son, return—lie down.
Te phoeiah Samuel a khue te BOEIPA loh koep a rhaep. Te dongah Samuel te thoo tih Eli taengla cet. Te vaengah, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Tedae, “Ka ca, kan khue moenih, bal lamtah yalh laeh,” a ti nah.
7 Now, Samuel, as yet knew not Yahweh, —nor, as yet, had been revealed unto him, the word of Yahweh.
Te vaengah Samuel loh BOEIPA te hmat hlan tih BOEIPA ol khaw anih taengah phoe hlan.
8 And again Yahweh called—Samuel! a third time. Then he arose, and went unto Eli, and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. Then did Eli perceive, that, Yahweh, was calling the boy.
A pathum dongah khaw BOEIPA loh a rhaep tih Samuel te a khue. Te dongah a thoh hang neh Eli taengla cet tih, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Te daengah camoe te BOEIPA loh a khue tila Eli loh a yakming.
9 So Eli said to Samuel—Go, lie down, and it shall be, if he call unto thee, that thou shalt say—Speak, Yahweh, for thy servant is listening. And Samuel went, and lay down in his place.
Te vaengah Samuel te Eli loh, “Cet lamtah yalh laeh, nang te ng'khue atah, 'BOEIPA han thui lah, Na sal long he ka hnatun ngawn,’ ti nah,” a ti nah. Te dongah Samuel te cet tih amah hmuen ah koep yalh.
10 Then came Yahweh, and stood, and called as time after time—Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant is listening.
Te phoeiah BOEIPA te ha pawk tih pai. A noek noek kah bangla, “Samuel, Samuel,” a ti nah. Samuel loh, “Na sal long he ka hnatun dongah han thui ngawn,” a ti nah.
11 And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Lo! I am doing a thing, in Israel, —at which both ears of everyone that heareth it shall tingle.
Te daengah Samuel te BOEIPA loh, “Israel ah hno ka saii coeng ne. Te te aka ya boeih ham a hna bok umya bitni.
12 In that day, will I confirm against Eli, all that I have spoken against his house, —beginning and finishing.
Tekah khohnin dongah a imkhui ah ka thui ham ka tong tih ka khah boeih nen te Eli ka pai thil ni.
13 Therefore do I tell him, that I am about to judge his house unto times age-abiding, for the iniquity which he knoweth, in that his sons are cursing God, and he hath not rebuked them.

14 And therefore have I sworn, respecting the house of Eli, —that the iniquity of the house of Eli shall receive no propitiatory-covering, by sacrifice or by present, unto times age-abiding.
Eli imkhui te ka toemngam coeng dongah Eli imkhui kathaesainah a dalh te hmueih nen khaw khocang nen khaw kumhal duela dawth boel saeh,” a ti nah.
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and rose early in the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, —but, Samuel, feared to tell the appearing, unto Eli.
Samuel khaw mincang duela yalh tih BOEIPA im kah thohkhaih te a ong. Tedae a manghmuhnah te Eli taengah thui ham Samuel loh a rhih.
16 So Eli called Samuel, and said—Samuel! my son. And he said—Behold me!
Tedae Samuel te, Eli loh a khue tih, “Ka ca Samuel,” a ti nah hatah, “Kai ka om he,” a ti nah.
17 And he said—What is the word, which he spake unto thee? I pray thee, do not hide it from me. So, let God do to thee, and, so, let him add, if thou hide from me a word, out of anything which he hath spoken unto thee.
Te phoeiah, “Nang taengah mebang ol lae a thui. Kai taengah phah boeh. Pathen loh nang ham a saii bitni. Nang taengah a thui ol boeih khuiah ol te kai taengah na phah vetih khoengvoep uh ve,” a ti nah.
18 So Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, Yahweh, he is; what is good in his own eyes, let him do.
Te daengah Samuel loh olka boeih te phah kolla Eli taengah a thui pah. Te vaengah, “BOEIPA amah loh a mikhmuh ah then a ti bangla saii nawn saeh,” a ti.
19 And Samuel grew, —and, Yahweh, proved to he with him, and let none of all his words fall to the ground.
