< 1 Samuel 23 >

1 Then told they David, saying, —Lo! the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.
David el lohngak lah mwet Philistia elos mweun lain acn Keilah ac pisre wheat ke kosrani sasu lalos.
2 So David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David—Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
Ke ma inge el siyuk sin LEUM GOD, “Ya fal nga in som ac mweun lain mwet Philistia?” Ac LEUM GOD El fahk, “Aok, mweun lainulos ac molela mwet Keilah.”
3 But the men of David said unto him, Lo! we, here, in Judah, are afraid, —how much more, then, if we go to Keilah, against the ranks of the Philistines?
A mwet lal David elos fahk nu sel, “Liye, kut arulana sangeng yenu ke kut muta fin acn Judah, a kut fin som nu Keilah ac lain mwet Philistia, kut ac sangeng yohk liki na!”
4 So David yet again enquired if Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him, —and said—Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am about to deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
Na David el sifilpa siyuk kasru sin LEUM GOD, ac LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel, “Fahla nu Keilah ac mweun, tuh nga ac fah asot kutangla nu sum fin mwet Philistia.”
5 David therefore went, with his men, to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and drave forth their cattle, and smote them, with a great smiting, so David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Na David ac mwet lal elos som nu Keilah ac mweun lain mwet Philistia. Elos uniya mwet pus selos, ac elos eisla kosro natulos. Ouinge David el molela siti sac.
6 Now it came to pass, when Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, fled unto David to Keilah, that he came down with, an ephod, in his hand.
Ke Abiathar, wen natul Ahimelech, el tuh kaingla ac tuku nu yorol David in acn Keilah, el us nuknuk ephod lun mwet tol welul.
7 And, when it was told Saul that David had entered Keilah, Saul said—God hath given him over into my hand, for he hath shut himself in by entering into a city with folding doors and bar.
Ke Saul el lohng lah David el som nu Keilah, el fahk, “God El eisalma nu inpouk. David el sifacna oru in sruhu el ke el utyak nu in sie siti kuhlusyuki ke pot fulat, ac mutunpot we kauli ku.”
8 So Saul summoned all the people to war, —to go down to Keilah, to besiege David, and his men.
Ke ma inge, Saul el pangon mwet mweun lal in som mweun lain acn Keilah ac in sruokilya David ac mwet lal.
9 And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, —so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
Ke David el lohng lah Saul el akoo in tuku lainul, el fahk nu sin mwet tol Abiathar, “Use nuknuk ephod uh nu inge.”
10 Then said David: O Yahweh, God of Israel, thy servant, hath heard, that Saul is seeking to come unto Keilah, —to destroy the city, for my sake:
Na David el fahk, “LEUM GOD lun Israel, nga lohng mu Saul el akoo elan tuku ac kunausla acn Keilah ke sripuk, mwet kulansap lom.
11 Will the owners of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, I pray thee, tell thy servant. And Yahweh said—He will come down.
Ya mwet Keilah elos ac eisyuyang nu inpaol Saul? Ya pwaye Saul el ac tuku, oana ke nga lohng uh? LEUM GOD lun Israel, nga kwafe sum tuh kom in topukyu!” Ac LEUM GOD El fahk, “Saul el ac fah tuku.”
12 Then said David, Will the owners of Keilah surrender me and my men, into the hand of Saul? And Yahweh said—They will surrender.
Ac David el sifil siyuk, “Ya mwet Keilah elos ac eisyuyang ac mwet luk inge nu inpaol Saul?” LEUM GOD El topuk, “Aok.”
13 Then arose David and his men, about six hundred, and went forth out of Keilah, and went to and fro, whithersoever they could, —and, unto Saul, it was told that David had escaped out of Keilah, so he forbare to go forth.
Ke ma inge, David ac mwet onfoko lal inge tuyak som liki acn Keilah ac takusrkusr infulan acn uh. Ke Saul el lohngak lah David el kaingla liki acn Keilah, na el fuhleak akoo se lal ah.
14 Then David abode in the wilderness, in the fortresses, and he abode in the hill country, in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him continually, but God delivered him not into his hand.
David el muta wikwik fineol uh, in acn mwesis apkuran nu Ziph. Pacl nukewa Saul el srike elan konalak David, tuh LEUM GOD El tia eisalang David nu inpaol.
15 Then David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life, David, being in the wilderness of Ziph, in the thicket.
Ac David el liye tuh Saul el sukna elan unilya. David el muta Horesh, in acn mwesis apkuran nu Ziph.
16 So Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went unto David in the thicket, —and strengthened his hand in God;
Ac Jonathan el som nu yorol ac sang kas in akkeyal ac akesmakinyal lah God El karinganul na.
17 and said unto him, —Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee, but, thou, shalt become king over Israel, and, I, shall be, next, unto thee, yea and, Saul my father, knoweth this.
El fahk nu sel David, “Nikmet sangeng. Saul, papa tumuk, el tia ku in oru kutu ma in akkolukye kom. El etu na pwaye lah kom pa ac tokosra fin mwet Israel, ac nga pa ac akluo uh.”
18 And they two solemnised a covenant before Yahweh, —and David remained in the thicket, but, Jonathan, departed to his own house.
Na eltal tukeni orala sie wulela mutal inmasrloltal tuh eltal in kawuk na pwaye. Na David el mutana Horesh, ac Jonathan el som nu in acn sel.
19 Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, —Is not David hiding himself with us, in the strongholds in the thicket, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right of Jeshimon?
Kutu mwet Ziph elos som nu yorol Saul in acn Gibeah ac fahk nu sel, “David el wikwik oasr in acn sesr Horesh ke Fineol Hachilah, su oan eir in acn mwesis Judea.
20 Now, therefore, according to all the desire of thy soul O king, to come down, come! and, ours, [will it be] to surrender him into the hand of the king.
O Tokosra, kut etu lupan kena lom tuh kom in sruokilya David. Ke ma inge, fahsru nu yen sesr, ac kut fah kasrekom in sruokilya.”
21 Then said Saul, Blessed, be ye, of Yahweh, —because ye have taken pity upon me.
Saul el fahk, “LEUM GOD Elan akinsewowoye kowos ke kulang lowos nu sik uh!
22 Go, I pray you, make ready yet further, and get to know and see his place, where may be his track, who hath seen him there, —for it hath been said unto me, Cunning indeed, is, he!
Kowos sifilpa folokot suk akwoye, ac konauk na pwaye acn el muta we, oayapa su liyal we. Nga lohng mu el arulana ngusrik in nunak.
23 See, then, and get to know—of all the hiding places, where he hideth himself, and return unto me, for certainty, then will I go with you, —and it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search him out, through all the thousands of Judah.
Sokak na pwaye acn el muta wikwik we an, ac sulaklak sapma fahk nu sik. Na nga fah wi kowos fahsrot, ac el fin srakna oasr ingan, nga ac fah sokol nwe ke nga konalak, nga finne enenu in sokol in facl Judah nufon.”
24 So they arose and departed to Ziph, before Saul, —but, David and his men, were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah, to the right of Jeshimon.
Na mwet inge folok nu Ziph meet lukel Saul. David ac mwet lal elos muta in acn mwesis in Maon, ke sie infahlfal wangin ma fac su oan nu eir in yen mwesis lun Judea.
25 Then Saul and his men departed, to seek [him]; but it had been told David, and he had gone down the cliff, and taken up his abode in the wilderness of Maon, —and when Saul had, heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.
Saul ac mwet lal elos som in sokol David. Ke David el lohngak, el som nu ke eol eoteot in acn mwesis Maon ac muta we. Ke Saul el lohng ma inge, el som tokol David.
26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and, David and his men, on that side of the mountain, —wherefore David became hurried, to get away from the presence of Saul, but, Saul and his men, were surrounding David and his men, to capture then:
Na Saul ac mwet lal elos muta lac eol uh, ac David ac mwet lal elos muta lac eol uh. David ac mwet lal elos sulaklak kaingkunul Saul ac mwet lal, mweyen elos apkuranyang in sruokolosi.

In kitin pacl ah na sie mwet utuk kas el tuku ac fahk nu sel Saul, “Sulaklak foloko! Mwet Philistia elos utyak tari in sruokya facl sesr!”
28 Then returned Saul from pursuing David, and departed to meet the Philistines, —for which cause, they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth ["the Cliff of Separation"].
Ke ma inge, Saul el tila ukwal David, a el folokla mweun lain mwet Philistia. Pa inge sripa se pangpang fineol soko ah Fineol In Sralik.
29 And David went up from thence, —and abode in the strongholds of En-gedi.
