1 Samuel 22
1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped, into the cave of Adullam, —and, when his brethren and all the household of his father heard it, they went down unto him, thither.
Đa-vít bỏ Gát ra đi, đến trốn trong hang A-đu-lam. Được tin này, các anh và bà con trong gia đình đều đến với ông.
2 And there gathered themselves unto him—every one that was in distress, and every one that had a creditor, and every one embittered in soul, and he came to be over them as a prince, —and there were with him, about four hundred men.
Ngoài ra cũng có nhiều người khác theo ông—họ là những người ở trong hoàn cảnh khó khăn, nợ nần, bất mãn. Dần dần, Đa-vít có trong tay khoảng 400 người.
3 And David departed thence, to Mizpah of Moab, —and said unto the king of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother dwell with you, until that I know what God will do for me.
Một hôm, Đa-vít đi Mít-bê thuộc xứ Mô-áp để xin vua: “Xin cho cha mẹ tôi được ở lại với vua, cho đến khi tôi biết được điều Đức Chúa Trời sẽ làm cho mình.”
4 So he set them before the king of Moab, —and they dwelt with him, all the days that David was in the fortress.
Vậy cha mẹ Đa-vít ở lại với vua Mô-áp suốt thời gian ông trốn tránh trong các hang động.
5 Then said Gad the prophet unto David—Thou must not abide in the fortress, go and get thee into the land of Judah. So David departed, and entered the forest of Hereth.
Một hôm Tiên tri Gát nói với Đa-vít: “Hãy rời khỏi hang và trở về xứ Giu-đa.” Vậy Đa-vít đi đến khu rừng Hê-rết.
6 And, when Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him—Saul, being seated in Gibeah under the tamarisk-tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants stationed by him, —
Có người thấy Đa-vít và toán người theo ông, liền báo tin cho Sau-lơ. Lúc ấy Sau-lơ đang ngồi trên một ngọn đồi cao tại Ghi-bê-a, dưới gốc một cây me; chung quanh vua có đoàn tùy tùng chầu chực.
7 then said Saul unto his servants who were stationed by him—Hear, I pray you, ye Benjamites! What! even to all of you, will the son of Jesse give fields and vineyards? All of you, will he appoint to be princes of thousands, and princes of hundreds?
Vua kêu gọi họ: “Nghe đây, những người Bên-gia-min! Có phải con trai của Gie-sê hứa hẹn cho các ngươi đồng ruộng, vườn nho, chức tước, quyền hành không,
8 That ye have conspired, all of you, against me, and there is none to uncover mine ear as to the covenanting of my son with the son of Jesse? And none from among you that taketh pity upon me, and that uncovereth mine ear [to this], —that, mine own son, hath stirred up, my servants, against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
mà các ngươi âm mưu phản ta? Tại sao chẳng một ai cho ta hay việc con ta kết ước với con Gie-sê? Tại sao chẳng người nào thương hại ta, báo tin con ta xúi giục Đa-vít làm phản, để tìm cách ám hại ta thế này?”
9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite—he, being stationed near the servants of Saul—and said, —I saw the son of Jesse coming into Nob, unto Ahimelech son of Ahitub;
Trong đoàn tùy tùng của Sau-lơ lúc ấy có Đô-e, người Ê-đôm. Hắn lên tiếng: “Ngày nọ ở Nóp, tôi thấy con trai của Gie-sê đến gặp Thầy Tế lễ A-hi-mê-léc, con A-hi-túp.
10 Then enquired he for him of Yahweh, Provisions also, gave he unto him, —and, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, gave he unto him.
A-hi-mê-léc có cầu hỏi Chúa Hằng Hữu và cung cấp lương thực, cùng thanh gươm của Gô-li-át, người Phi-li-tin, cho Đa-vít.”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father—the priests, who were in Nob, —and they came, all of them, unto the king.
Vua Sau-lơ sai người gọi A-hi-mê-léc, cả gia đình, và các thầy tế lễ khác ở Nóp đến.
12 And Saul said, Hear, I pray thee, thou son of Ahitub! And he said—Behold me! my lord.
Khi họ đến, Sau-lơ hét lớn: “Nghe đây, con của A-hi-túp!” A-hi-mê-léc đáp: “Thưa Vua, có tôi đây.”
13 And Saul said unto him, Wherefore have ye conspired against me, thou, and the son of Jesse, —in that thou gavest him bread and a sword, and didst enquire for him of God, that he might rise up against me, that he might lie in wait, as at this day?
Sau-lơ hỏi: “Tại sao ngươi và con của Gie-sê âm mưu phản ta? Ngươi đã cung cấp bánh, gươm, và cầu hỏi Đức Chúa Trời cho hắn, giúp hắn làm phản và chống nghịch ta?”
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, —But who, among all thy servants, like David, is, faithful, being son-in-law to the king, and, cometh near to have audience with thee, and is, honoured in thy household?
A-hi-mê-léc đáp: “Thưa vua, trong số các đầy tớ của vua, có ai trung thành như Đa-vít, con rể vua. Người vừa là chỉ huy cận vệ, vừa là người được trọng vọng của hoàng gia!
15 Did I, that day, begin to enquire for him of God? Far from me! Let not the king impute to his servant such a thing, nor to any of the household of my father, for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.
Hơn nữa, có phải đây là lần đầu tiên tôi cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời cho Đa-vít đâu! Xin vua đừng buộc tội tôi cùng gia đình tôi như thế, vì tôi không biết gì về vụ mưu phản cả.”
16 And the king said: Thou shalt, die, Ahimelech, —thou and all the household of thy father.
Vua tuyên bố: “A-hi-mê-léc, ngươi và cả nhà ngươi phải chết!”
17 And the king said unto the runners that were stationed by him—Turn ye round and put to death the priests of Yahweh, because, their hand also, is with David, and because they knew that he was, in flight, and unveiled not mine ear. But the servants of the king were not willing to thrust forth their hand, to fall upon the priests of Yahweh.
Rồi vua ra lệnh cho các cận vệ: “Hãy giết các thầy tế lễ của Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ta, vì họ đã theo Đa-vít! Họ biết Đa-vít chạy trốn mà không báo với ta!” Nhưng người của Sau-lơ không dám giết các thầy tế lễ của Chúa Hằng Hữu.
18 Then said the king to Doeg, Turn, thou, and fall upon the priests. So Doeg the Edomite turned, and, himself, fell upon the priests, and put to death, that day, four score and five men bearing an ephod of linen;
Vua nói với Đô-e: “Ngươi giết họ đi.” Đô-e, người Ê-đôm, xông lại giết các thầy tế lễ, và hôm ấy có tất cả tám mươi lăm vị mặc ê-phót bị sát hại.
19 Nob also, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, —and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
Rồi hắn đến Nóp, thành của thầy tế lễ, giết tất cả gia đình của các thầy tế lễ—gồm đàn ông, phụ nữ, trẻ con, và trẻ sơ sinh—cả bò, lừa, và chiên của họ cũng chịu chung số phận.
20 But there escaped one son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, whose, name, was Abiathar, —and he fled after David.
Nhưng A-bia-tha, một trong những người con của A-hi-mê-léc, thoát nạn và chạy đến với Đa-vít.
21 So Abiathar told David, —that Saul had slain the priests of Yahweh.
A-bia-tha kể cho Đa-vít việc Sau-lơ giết các thầy tế lễ của Chúa Hằng Hữu.
22 Then said David to Abiathar—I knew, that day, when Doeg the Edomite was, there, that he would, surely tell, Saul. I, am chargeable with all the lives of the house of thy father.
Nghe xong, Đa-vít nói: “Tôi biết! Khi tôi thấy Đô-e, người Ê-đôm hôm ấy, tôi biết thế nào hắn cũng báo với Sau-lơ. Tuy nhiên chính tôi là người đã gây nên cái chết cho gia đình anh.
23 Abide with me! do not fear, for, whoso seeketh my life, seeketh thy life, —for, in safeguard, shall thou be, with me.
Vậy, hãy ở đây với tôi, đừng lo sợ gì cả. Ai muốn giết anh, phải giết tôi trước. Ở với tôi, anh được an toàn.”
