1 Samuel 22
1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped, into the cave of Adullam, —and, when his brethren and all the household of his father heard it, they went down unto him, thither.
૧તેથી દાઉદ ત્યાંથી નીકળીને અદુલ્લામની ગુફામાં નાસી ગયો. તે જાણીને તેના ભાઈઓ તથા તેના પિતાના સમગ્ર કુટુંબનાં માણસો ત્યાં તેની પાસે ગયાં.
2 And there gathered themselves unto him—every one that was in distress, and every one that had a creditor, and every one embittered in soul, and he came to be over them as a prince, —and there were with him, about four hundred men.
૨જેઓ સંકટમાં હતા, જેઓ દેવાદાર હતા, જેઓ અસંતોષી હતા તેઓ બધા તેની પાસે એકઠા થયા. દાઉદ તેઓનો સરદાર બન્યો. ત્યાં તેની સાથે આશરે ચારસો માણસો હતા.
3 And David departed thence, to Mizpah of Moab, —and said unto the king of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother dwell with you, until that I know what God will do for me.
૩દાઉદ ત્યાંથી મોઆબના મિસ્પામાં ગયો. તેણે મોઆબના રાજાને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વર મારે માટે શું કરવાના છે એ મારા જાણવામાં આવે ત્યાં સુધી કૃપા કરીને મારા પિતાને તથા મારી માતાને અહીં આવીને તારી પાસે રહેવા દે.”
4 So he set them before the king of Moab, —and they dwelt with him, all the days that David was in the fortress.
૪તે તેઓને મોઆબના રાજાની પાસે લાવ્યો; દાઉદ ગઢમાં રહ્યો તેટલો બધો વખત તેનાં માતાપિતા તેની સાથે રહ્યાં.
5 Then said Gad the prophet unto David—Thou must not abide in the fortress, go and get thee into the land of Judah. So David departed, and entered the forest of Hereth.
૫પછી ગાદ પ્રબોધકે દાઉદને કહ્યું, “તારા ગઢમાં રહીશ નહિ. અહીંથી નીકળીને યહૂદિયા દેશમાં જા. ત્યારે દાઉદ ત્યાંથી નીકળીને હેરેથના વનમાં ગયો.
6 And, when Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him—Saul, being seated in Gibeah under the tamarisk-tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants stationed by him, —
૬શાઉલે જાણ્યું કે દાઉદ તથા તેની સાથે જે માણસો હતા તેઓ વિશેની માહિતી મળી છે. હવે શાઉલ તો ગિબયામાં રામામાંના આમલીના ઝાડ નીચે પોતાના હાથમાં ભાલો રાખીને બેઠો હતો. અને તેના સર્વ ચાકરો તેની આસપાસ ઊભા હતા.
7 then said Saul unto his servants who were stationed by him—Hear, I pray you, ye Benjamites! What! even to all of you, will the son of Jesse give fields and vineyards? All of you, will he appoint to be princes of thousands, and princes of hundreds?
૭શાઉલે પોતાની આસપાસ ઊભેલા પોતાના ચાકરોને કહ્યું, “બિન્યામીનીઓ, હવે તમે સાંભળો! શું યિશાઈનો દીકરો પ્રત્યેકને ખેતરો તથા દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ આપશે? શું તે પ્રત્યેકને સહસ્ત્રાધિપતિઓ તથા શતાધિપતિઓ બનાવશે,
8 That ye have conspired, all of you, against me, and there is none to uncover mine ear as to the covenanting of my son with the son of Jesse? And none from among you that taketh pity upon me, and that uncovereth mine ear [to this], —that, mine own son, hath stirred up, my servants, against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
૮કે જેથી તમે બધાએ મારી વિરુદ્ધ કાવતરું રચ્યું છે? મારો દીકરો યિશાઈના દીકરા સાથે કોલકરાર કરે છે ત્યારે મને ખબર આપનાર કોઈ નથી. મારે માટે દિલગીર થનાર કોઈ નથી અને મારા દીકરાએ મારા ચાકર દાઉદને મારી વિરુદ્ધ આજની જેમ સંતાઈ રહેવાને સાવચેત કર્યો છે. તેની મને ખબર આપનાર શું તમારામાંનો કોઈ નથી?”
9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite—he, being stationed near the servants of Saul—and said, —I saw the son of Jesse coming into Nob, unto Ahimelech son of Ahitub;
૯ત્યારે દોએગ અદોમી, જે શાઉલના ચાકરો પાસે ઊભો હતો, તેણે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મેં યિશાઈના દીકરાને નોબમાં અહિટૂબના દીકરા અહીમેલેખ યાજક પાસે આવતો જોયો હતો.
10 Then enquired he for him of Yahweh, Provisions also, gave he unto him, —and, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, gave he unto him.
૧૦તેણે તેને માટે ઈશ્વરને સલાહ પૂછી, તેને ખાધસામગ્રી આપી તથા ગોલ્યાથ પલિસ્તીની તલવાર આપી કે તે તેને મદદ કરે.”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father—the priests, who were in Nob, —and they came, all of them, unto the king.
૧૧પછી રાજાએ અહિટૂબના દીકરા, અહીમેલેખ યાજકને તથા તેના કુટુંબનાં જેઓ, નોબમાં હતા તેઓને બોલાવવા એક જણને મોકલ્યો. તેઓ સર્વ રાજા પાસે આવ્યા.
12 And Saul said, Hear, I pray thee, thou son of Ahitub! And he said—Behold me! my lord.
૧૨શાઉલે કહ્યું, “હે અહિટૂબના દીકરા, હવે સાંભળ.” તેણે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હે મારા માલિક, હું આપની સમક્ષ છું.”
13 And Saul said unto him, Wherefore have ye conspired against me, thou, and the son of Jesse, —in that thou gavest him bread and a sword, and didst enquire for him of God, that he might rise up against me, that he might lie in wait, as at this day?
૧૩શાઉલે તેને કહ્યું કે, “શા માટે તેં અને યિશાઈના દીકરાએ મારી વિરુદ્ધ કાવતરું રચ્યું અને તેને રોટલી તથા તલવાર આપીને મારે સારુ ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના કરી કે તે તેને મદદ કરે જેથી તે મારી વિરુદ્ધ ઊઠે?”
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, —But who, among all thy servants, like David, is, faithful, being son-in-law to the king, and, cometh near to have audience with thee, and is, honoured in thy household?
૧૪પછી અહીમેલેખે રાજાને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “દાઉદ કે જે રાજાનો જમાઈ છે, જે તમારો અંગરક્ષક છે તથા જે તમારા દરબારમાં માનવંતો છે, તેના જેવો વિશ્વાસુ તમારામાંના સર્વ ચાકરોમાં અન્ય કોણ છે?
15 Did I, that day, begin to enquire for him of God? Far from me! Let not the king impute to his servant such a thing, nor to any of the household of my father, for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.
૧૫શું મેં આજ પહેલી વખત ઈશ્વરને મદદને સારુ પ્રાર્થના કરી છે? એ મારાથી દૂર થાઓ! રાજાએ પોતાના ચાકરને માથે અથવા મારા પિતાના સર્વ ઘરનાં કોઈનાં માથે એવું કંઈ પણ તહોમત મૂકવું નહિ. કેમ કે તમારો ચાકર આ સર્વ બાબતો વિષે કંઈ પણ જાણતો નથી.”
16 And the king said: Thou shalt, die, Ahimelech, —thou and all the household of thy father.
૧૬રાજાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “અહીમેલેખ તું તથા તારા પિતાના ઘરનાં સર્વ નિશ્ચે મરણ પામશો.”
17 And the king said unto the runners that were stationed by him—Turn ye round and put to death the priests of Yahweh, because, their hand also, is with David, and because they knew that he was, in flight, and unveiled not mine ear. But the servants of the king were not willing to thrust forth their hand, to fall upon the priests of Yahweh.
૧૭રાજાએ પોતાની આસપાસ ઊભા રહેલા અંગરક્ષકોને કહ્યું, “ફરીને ઈશ્વરના યાજકોને મારી નાખો. કેમ કે તેઓનો હાથ દાઉદ સાથે પણ છે, કેમ કે તેઓ જાણતા હતા કે તે નાસી જશે, મને તેની ખબર ન આપી.” પણ રાજાના ચાકરો ઈશ્વરના યાજકોને મારી નાખવા તેઓનાં હાથ ઉગામવા રાજી નહોતા.
18 Then said the king to Doeg, Turn, thou, and fall upon the priests. So Doeg the Edomite turned, and, himself, fell upon the priests, and put to death, that day, four score and five men bearing an ephod of linen;
૧૮પછી રાજાએ દોએગને કહ્યું, “પાછો ફરીને યાજકોને મારી નાખ.” તેથી દોએગ અદોમી પાછો ફર્યો અને યાજકો ઉપર હુમલો કર્યો; તે દિવસે તેણે શણનો એફોદ ઝભ્ભો પહેરેલા પંચાશી યાજકોનો સંહાર કર્યો.
19 Nob also, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, —and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
૧૯વળી તેણે તલવારની ધારથી, યાજકોના નગર નોબના પુરુષો, સ્ત્રીઓ, નાનાંમોટાં બાળકો બળદો, ગધેડાં તથા ઘેટાં પર હુમલો કર્યો. તેણે તેઓમાંના સર્વને તલવારની ધારથી મારી નાખ્યાં.
20 But there escaped one son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, whose, name, was Abiathar, —and he fled after David.
૨૦પણ અહિટૂબના દીકરા અહીમેલેખના દીકરાઓમાંનો એક દીકરો, જેનું નામ અબ્યાથાર હતું, તે બચી ગયો તે દાઉદ પાસે નાસી ગયો.
21 So Abiathar told David, —that Saul had slain the priests of Yahweh.
૨૧અબ્યાથારે દાઉદને કહ્યું કે “શાઉલે ઈશ્વરના યાજકોને મારી નાખ્યા છે.”
22 Then said David to Abiathar—I knew, that day, when Doeg the Edomite was, there, that he would, surely tell, Saul. I, am chargeable with all the lives of the house of thy father.
૨૨દાઉદે અબ્યાથારને કહ્યું કે, “તે દિવસે દોએગ અદોમી ત્યાં હતો, ત્યારથી જ હું જાણતો હતો કે તે જરૂર શાઉલને કહી દેશે. તારા પિતાના ઘરનાં સર્વ માણસોના મોતનું કારણ હું જ થયો છું.
23 Abide with me! do not fear, for, whoso seeketh my life, seeketh thy life, —for, in safeguard, shall thou be, with me.
૨૩તું મારી સાથે રહે અને ગભરાઈશ નહિ. કેમ કે જે મારો જીવ લેવા માગે છે તે તારો પણ જીવ લેવા માગે છે. કેમ કે તું મારી સાથે સહીસલામત રહેશે.”
