1 Samuel 22

1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped, into the cave of Adullam, —and, when his brethren and all the household of his father heard it, they went down unto him, thither.

David ging von dannen und entrann in die Höhle Adullam. Als das seine Brüder und das ganze Haus seines Vaters hörten, kamen sie dorthin zu ihm hinab.

2 And there gathered themselves unto him—every one that was in distress, and every one that had a creditor, and every one embittered in soul, and he came to be over them as a prince, —and there were with him, about four hundred men.

Und es versammelten sich zu ihm allerlei Männer, die in Not und Schulden und alle, die betrübten Herzens waren, und er wurde ihr Oberster, und sie hielten es mit ihm, etwa vierhundert Mann.

3 And David departed thence, to Mizpah of Moab, —and said unto the king of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother dwell with you, until that I know what God will do for me.

Und David ging von dannen gen Mizpe, in das Land der Moabiter, und sprach zum König der Moabiter: Laß doch meinen Vater und meine Mutter bei euch ein und ausgehen, bis ich erfahre, was Gott mit mir tun wird!

4 So he set them before the king of Moab, —and they dwelt with him, all the days that David was in the fortress.

Und er führte sie vor den König der Moabiter, und sie blieben bei ihm, solange David auf der Bergfeste war.

5 Then said Gad the prophet unto David—Thou must not abide in the fortress, go and get thee into the land of Judah. So David departed, and entered the forest of Hereth.

Aber der Prophet Gad sprach zu David: Bleibe nicht auf der Bergfeste, sondern geh ins Land Juda! Und David kam in den Wald Haret.

6 And, when Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him—Saul, being seated in Gibeah under the tamarisk-tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants stationed by him, —

Und es kam vor Saul, daß David und die Männer, die bei ihm waren, zum Vorschein gekommen seien. Saul aber saß zu Gibea unter der Tamariske auf der Anhöhe, den Speer in der Hand, und alle seine Knechte standen vor ihm.

7 then said Saul unto his servants who were stationed by him—Hear, I pray you, ye Benjamites! What! even to all of you, will the son of Jesse give fields and vineyards? All of you, will he appoint to be princes of thousands, and princes of hundreds?

Da sprach Saul zu seinen Knechten, die vor ihm standen: Hört doch, ihr Benjaminiten: Wird auch der Sohn Isais euch allen Äcker und Weinberge geben? Wird er euch alle zu Anführern über Tausend und zu Anführern über Hundert machen,

8 That ye have conspired, all of you, against me, and there is none to uncover mine ear as to the covenanting of my son with the son of Jesse? And none from among you that taketh pity upon me, and that uncovereth mine ear [to this], —that, mine own son, hath stirred up, my servants, against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

daß ihr euch alle wider mich verbündet habt und niemand es meinen Ohren offenbarte, als mein Sohn einen Bund mit dem Sohn Isais gemacht hat? Und ist niemand unter euch, den es meinethalben kränkte, und der es meinen Ohren offenbarte, daß mein eigener Sohn meinen Knecht wider mich aufgewiegelt hat und mir nachstellt, wie es jetzt am Tage ist!

9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite—he, being stationed near the servants of Saul—and said, —I saw the son of Jesse coming into Nob, unto Ahimelech son of Ahitub;

Da antwortete Doeg, der Edomiter, der neben Sauls Knechten stand, und sprach: Ich sah den Sohn Isais, als er nach Nob zu Achimelech, dem Sohn Achitubs kam.

10 Then enquired he for him of Yahweh, Provisions also, gave he unto him, —and, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, gave he unto him.

Der befragte den HERRN für ihn und gab ihm Brot, und das Schwert Goliaths, des Philisters, gab er ihm auch.

11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father—the priests, who were in Nob, —and they came, all of them, unto the king.

Da sandte der König hin und ließ rufen Achimelech, den Sohn Achitubs, den Priester, und seines Vaters ganzes Haus, die Priester, die zu Nob waren; und sie kamen alle zum König.

12 And Saul said, Hear, I pray thee, thou son of Ahitub! And he said—Behold me! my lord.

Und Saul sprach: Höre doch, du Sohn Achitubs! Er sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich, mein Herr!

13 And Saul said unto him, Wherefore have ye conspired against me, thou, and the son of Jesse, —in that thou gavest him bread and a sword, and didst enquire for him of God, that he might rise up against me, that he might lie in wait, as at this day?

Und Saul sprach zu ihm: Warum habt ihr einen Bund wider mich gemacht, du und der Sohn Isais, daß du ihm Brot und ein Schwert gegeben und Gott für ihn befragt hast, so daß er sich wider mich auflehnt und mir nachstellt, wie es jetzt am Tage ist?

14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, —But who, among all thy servants, like David, is, faithful, being son-in-law to the king, and, cometh near to have audience with thee, and is, honoured in thy household?

Achimelech antwortete dem König und sprach: Und wer ist unter allen deinen Knechten so treu wie David, dazu des Königs Tochtermann und Oberster über deine Leibwache und in deinem Hause so hoch gehalten?

15 Did I, that day, begin to enquire for him of God? Far from me! Let not the king impute to his servant such a thing, nor to any of the household of my father, for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.

Habe ich denn erst heute angefangen, Gott für ihn zu befragen? Das sei ferne von mir! Der König lege solches weder seinem Knecht, noch dem ganzen Hause meines Vaters zur Last; denn dein Knecht hat von alledem nichts gewußt, weder Kleines noch Großes!

16 And the king said: Thou shalt, die, Ahimelech, —thou and all the household of thy father.

Aber der König sprach: Achimelech, du mußt des Todes sterben, du und deines Vaters ganzes Haus!

17 And the king said unto the runners that were stationed by him—Turn ye round and put to death the priests of Yahweh, because, their hand also, is with David, and because they knew that he was, in flight, and unveiled not mine ear. But the servants of the king were not willing to thrust forth their hand, to fall upon the priests of Yahweh.

Und der König sprach zu seinen Trabanten, die vor ihm standen: Wendet euch und tötet die Priester des HERRN! Denn ihre Hand ist auch mit David; und obschon sie wußten, daß er floh, haben sie es mir doch nicht eröffnet. Aber die Knechte des Königs wollten die Hand nicht an die Priester des HERRN legen, sie zu erschlagen.

18 Then said the king to Doeg, Turn, thou, and fall upon the priests. So Doeg the Edomite turned, and, himself, fell upon the priests, and put to death, that day, four score and five men bearing an ephod of linen;

Da sprach der König zu Doeg: Wende du dich und erschlage die Priester! Und Doeg, der Edomiter, wandte sich und fiel über die Priester her und tötete an jenem Tage fünfundachtzig Männer, die das leinene Ephod trugen.

19 Nob also, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, —and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

Und Nob, die Stadt der Priester, schlug er mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, Männer und Weiber, Kinder und Säuglinge, auch Ochsen, Esel und Schafe, mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.

20 But there escaped one son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, whose, name, was Abiathar, —and he fled after David.

Es entrann aber ein Sohn Achimelechs, des Sohnes Achitubs, der hieß Abjatar, und floh zu David.

21 So Abiathar told David, —that Saul had slain the priests of Yahweh.

Und Abjatar verkündigte David, daß Saul die Priester des HERRN niedergemacht habe.

22 Then said David to Abiathar—I knew, that day, when Doeg the Edomite was, there, that he would, surely tell, Saul. I, am chargeable with all the lives of the house of thy father.

David aber sprach zu Abjatar: Ich wußte wohl an jenem Tage, als Doeg, der Edomiter, dort war, daß er es Saul gewiß sagen werde. Ich bin schuldig an allen Seelen von deines Vaters Hause.

23 Abide with me! do not fear, for, whoso seeketh my life, seeketh thy life, —for, in safeguard, shall thou be, with me.

Bleibe bei mir und fürchte dich nicht. Denn wer nach meinem Leben trachtet, der trachtet auch nach deinem Leben, und du sollst bei mir wohlbewahrt sein!
