1 Samuel 2
1 Then prayed Hannah, and said, My heart hath leaped for joy in Yahweh, My horn is exalted in Yahweh, My mouth is opened wide, o’er my foes, Because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Entonces Ana oró y exclamó: Mi corazón se exalta en Yavé. Mi cuerno se exalta en Yavé. Mi boca habla osadamente contra mis enemigos, Porque me regocijo en tu salvación.
2 There is none holy like Yahweh, Nay! there, is none, except Thee, Nor, is, there a rock, like our God.
No hay santo como Yavé, Porque ninguno hay fuera de Ti, Ni hay refugio como el ʼElohim nuestro.
3 Do not multiply words, so loftily—loftily, Nor let arrogance proceed from your mouth, —For, a GOD of knowledge, is Yahweh, And, for himself, are great doings made firm.
No multipliquen palabras altivas, Ni salga arrogancia de su boca, Porque Yavé es ʼElohim de entendimiento, Y Él pesa las acciones.
4 The bow of the mighty, is dismayed, —While, the fainting, are girded with strength;
Los arcos de los fuertes son quebrados, Pero los que se tambalean son fortalecidos.
5 The sated, have, for bread, taken hire, But, the famished, have left off their toil, —So that, the barren, hath given birth unto seven, While, she that hath many sons, languisheth:
Los que estaban saciados se venden por pan, Pero los hambrientos dejan de tener hambre. Mientras la estéril da a luz a siete, La que tiene muchos hijos se debilita.
Yavé mata y da vida. Él hace bajar al Seol y hace subir. (Sheol h7585)
7 Yahweh, maketh poor, and enricheth, —Layeth low, yea exalteth;
Yavé empobrece y enriquece. Él abate y enaltece.
8 Raiseth, from the dust, the poor, From the dunghill, uplifteth the needy, To give them a dwelling with nobles, And, a throne of glory, to make them inherit. For, to Yahweh, belong the pillars of the earth, And he setteth thereon the habitable world.
Él levanta al pobre del polvo, Y exalta al necesitado desde el muladar Para sentarlo con príncipes y heredar un trono de honor. Porque de Yavé son las columnas de la tierra, Y Él colocó el mundo sobre ellas.
9 The feet of his loving ones, he doth guard, But, the lawless, in darkness shall be silent, —For, by strength, shall no man prevail.
Él guarda los pies de sus santos, Pero los perversos perecen en la oscuridad, Porque por su propia fuerza no prevalece un hombre.
10 As for Yahweh, —they shall be shattered who contend with him, Over him, in the heavens will he thunder, Yahweh, will judge the ends of the earth, —That he may give strength to his King, And exalt the horn of his Anointed One.
Los adversarios de Yavé son destrozados. Contra ellos truena desde el cielo. Yavé juzgará los confines de la tierra, Dará fortaleza a su Rey Y exaltará el cuerno de su Ungido.
11 Then went Elkanah to Ramah, unto his own house, —but, the boy, remained ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli the priest.
Entonces Elcana regresó a su casa en Ramá, pero el niño ministraba a Yavé delante del sacerdote Elí.
12 Now, the sons of Eli, were abandoned men, —they knew not Yahweh.
Los hijos de Elí eran hombres despreciables. No tenían conocimiento de Yavé.
13 And, the custom of the priests with the people, was—when any man offered a sacrifice, then would come the priests young man, as the flesh was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand;
La costumbre de los sacerdotes con el pueblo era que cuando algún varón ofrecía un sacrificio, el esclavo del sacerdote se acercaba con un garfio de tres dientes en su mano mientras se cocía la carne,
14 and would strike it into the boiler, or into the trough, or into the kettle, or into the pot, all that the fork would bring up, the priest took for himself. Thus and thus, used they to do unto all Israel, who came thither, in Shiloh.
y de un golpe lo metía en el perol, la olla, el caldero o la olla metálica. Todo lo que el garfio sacaba el sacerdote lo tomaba para él. De esta manera hacían en Silo con todos los israelitas que iban allí.
15 Also, before any could make perfume with the fat, the priests young man would come in and say to the person who was sacrificing, Come! give flesh for the priest’s roastings, —for he will not take of thee boiled flesh—only raw.
También, antes de quemar la grasa, el esclavo del sacerdote llegaba y decía al que sacrificaba: Da al sacerdote carne para asar, porque no tomará de ti carne cocida, sino cruda.
16 And, if the man said to him, Let them at least, make incense, at once with the fat, then take thou as much as thy soul craveth, Then said he to him, But, at once, shalt thou give it; or else, I will take it by force.
Si el hombre le respondía: Quemen primero la grasa y después toma lo que desees, le decía: No, sino dámela ahora mismo, pues si no, la tomaré por la fuerza.
17 And so it was, that, the sin of the young men, was exceeding great, before Yahweh, —for men scorned the offerings of Yahweh.
Así que el pecado de los jóvenes era muy grave delante de Yavé, porque tales hombres despreciaban la ofrenda de Yavé.
18 But, as for Samuel, he was ministering before Yahweh, —a boy girded with an ephod of linen.
[El] niño Samuel ministraba delante de Yavé vestido con un efod de lino.
19 Also, a little robe, used his mother to make for him, and bring it up to him, from year to year, —when she came up with her husband, to offer the sacrifice of the year.
Su madre le hacía una túnica pequeña y se la llevaba cada año cuando subía con su esposo a ofrecer el sacrificio acostumbrado.
20 And Eli used to bless Elkanah and his wife, and to say—Yahweh give thee seed of this woman, instead of the loan that hath been lent unto Yahweh. So they went their way to his own place.
Elí bendecía a Elcana y a su esposa y decía: Yavé te dé descendientes de esta esposa en lugar del que ella dedicó a Yavé. Y ellos regresaban a su casa.
21 And Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bare three sons, and two daughters. Thus did the boy Samuel grow up with Yahweh.
Yavé visitó a Ana, y concibió. Dio a luz tres hijos y dos hijas. Y el joven Samuel crecía delante de Yavé,
22 Now, Eli, was very old, —but he used to hear all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how they even lay with the women who did service, at the opening of the tent of meeting.
pero Elí envejeció mucho. Oía todo lo que sus hijos hacían a todo Israel, y cómo se unían con las mujeres que servían en la entrada del Tabernáculo de Reunión.
23 So he said to them, Wherefore should ye do such things as these? for I keep hearing of your wicked doings, from all these people.
Y él les decía: ¿Por qué hacen tales cosas? Porque yo oigo de todo este pueblo sus malas acciones.
24 Nay, my sons! for it is no good report that I do hear: leading into transgression the people of Yahweh.
No, hijos míos, no es bueno el rumor que oigo, porque hacen pecar al pueblo de Yavé.
25 If one man sin against another, God will interpose, but, if, against Yahweh, a man sin, who will intercede, for him? But they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, for Yahweh was pleased to put them to death.
Si un hombre peca contra otro hombre, ʼElohim intercederá. Pero si alguno peca contra Yavé, ¿quién intercederá por él? Pero ellos no escucharon la voz de su padre, pues Yavé había decidido que murieran.
26 But, the boy Samuel, went on growing in stature, and in favour, —both with Yahweh, and also with men.
El joven Samuel crecía y era aprobado delante de Yavé y de los hombres.
27 And there came a man of God, unto Eli, —and said unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, I, did indeed reveal myself, unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, as servants unto the house of Pharaoh;
Entonces un varón de ʼElohim fue a Elí y le dijo: Yavé dice: ¿No me revelé en verdad a la casa de tu antepasado cuando estaba en Egipto [esclavo] en casa de Faraón?
28 choosing him out of all the tribes of Israel unto myself, to minister as priest, to offer upon mine altar, to perfume with incense to bear an ephod before me, —Therefore gave I unto the house of thy father all the altar-flames of the sons of Israel.
¿No te escogí de entre todas las tribus de Israel para que fueras mi sacerdote, ofrecieras sobre mi altar y quemaras incienso y llevaras [el] efod en mi Presencia, y di a la casa de tu antepasado todas las ofrendas encendidas de los hijos de Israel?
29 Wherefore have ye been kicking at my sacrifices, and my presents, which I commanded, to serve for a home, —and shouldest have honoured thy sons more than me: fattening yourselves, with the first of every present of Israel, before me?
¿Por qué desprecian mis sacrificios y mis ofrendas que Yo ordené ofrecer en mi Tabernáculo? ¿Por qué honras a tus hijos más bien que a Mí, para que se engorden con lo más sustancioso de todas las ofrendas de mi pueblo Israel?
30 Hence, the oracle of Yahweh God of Israel, I, said, that, thy house, and the house of thy father, should go to and fro in my presence, unto times age-abiding: But, now, (is the oracle of Yahweh)—Be it far from me! For, them who honour me, will I honour, but, they who despise me, shall be lightly esteemed.
Por tanto, Yavé ʼElohim de Israel dice: En verdad dije que tu casa y la casa de tu antepasado estarían delante de Mí perpetuamente. Pero ahora, Yavé dice: ¡Lejos esté esto de Mí! Porque a los que me honran Yo los honraré, pero los que me desprecian serán tenidos en poco.
31 Lo! days are coming, when I will hew off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, —that there shall be no elder in thy house;
Ciertamente vienen días en los cuales cortaré tu brazo y el brazo de la casa de tu padre para que no quede anciano en tu casa.
32 But thou shalt descry distress at home, in all that shall gladden Israel, —and there shall not be an elder in thine own house, all the days.
Verás la aflicción de mi Casa, a pesar del bien que hago a Israel. Jamás habrá anciano en tu casa.
33 But, any man of thine whom I may not cut off from mine altar, it shall be—to consume his eyes, and grieve his soul; Howbeit, all the multitude of thy house, shall die, by the sword of men.
El varón de los tuyos que Yo no corte de mi altar, servirá para consumir tus ojos y entristecer tu alma. Todos los nacidos en tu casa morirán en la flor de su edad.
34 And, this, for thee is the sign, which shall come upon thy two sons, upon Hophni and Phinehas, —In one day, shall they, both of them, die;
Esto que vendrá sobre tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees, te servirá de señal: Ambos morirán el mismo día.
35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, According to that which is in my heart and in my soul, will he do; Therefore will I build for him an assured house, and he shall go to and fro in presence of mine Anointed, all the days.
Pero levantaré para Mí un sacerdote fiel que actuará según mi corazón y mi alma. Le edificaré casa firme, y él andará delante de Mí ungido todos los días.
36 And it shall be, that, any that is left in thy house, shall come bowing down to him for a small coin of silver, and for a cake of bread, and shall say: Appoint me, I pray thee, to one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
Sucederá que todo aquel que quede de tu casa acudirá a postrarse ante él por una moneda de plata o una torta de pan, y dirá: Te ruego que me asignes alguna función sacerdotal para que pueda comer un bocado de pan.
