1 Samuel 16
1 And Yahweh said unto Samuel—How long, art thou going to pine for Saul, seeing that, I, have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come! let me send thee unto Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided me, among his sons, a king.
और ख़ुदावन्द ने समुएल से कहा, “तू कब तक साऊल के लिए ग़म खाता रहेगा, जिस हाल कि मैंने उसे बनी इस्राईल का बादशाह होने से रद्द कर दिया है? तू अपने सींग में तेल भर और जा, मैं तुझे बैतलहमी यस्सी के पास भेजता हूँ, क्यूँकि मैंने उसके बेटों में से एक को अपनी तरफ़ से बादशाह चुना है।”
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? As soon as Saul heareth, he will slay me. Then said Yahweh, A heifer, take thou with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come.
समुएल ने कहा, में क्यूँकर जाऊँ? अगर साऊल सुन लेगा, तो मुझे मार ही डालेगा “ख़ुदावन्द ने कहा, एक बछिया अपने साथ लेजा और कहना कि मैं ख़ुदावन्द के लिए क़ुर्बानी करने को आया हूँ।
3 Then shall thou bid Jesse to the sacrifice, —when, I, will let thee know what thou must do, so shalt thou anoint for me him whom I shall name unto thee.
और यस्सी को क़ुर्बानी की दा'वत देना फिर मैं तुझे बता दूँगा कि तुझे क्या करना है, और उसी को जिसका नाम मैं तुझे बताऊँ मेरे लिए मसह करना।”
4 And Samuel did that which Yahweh had spoken, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and one said—Peaceably, comest thou?
और समुएल ने वही जो ख़ुदावन्द ने कहा था किया और बैतलहम में आया, तब शहर के बुज़ुर्ग काँपते हुए उससे मिलने को गए और कहने लगे, “तू सुलह के ख़्याल से आया है?”
5 And he said—Peaceably: to sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and bade them to the sacrifice.
उसने कहा, सुलह के ख़्याल से, मैं ख़ुदावन्द के लिए क़ुर्बानी पेश करने आया हूँ। तुम अपने आप को पाक साफ़ करो और मेरे साथ क़ुर्बानी के लिए आओ “और उसने यस्सी को और उसके बेटों को पाक किया और उनको क़ुर्बानी की दा'वत दी।
6 And it came to pass, when they entered, that he looked upon Eliab, —and said to himself, Surely, before Yahweh, is his Anointed.
जब वह आए तो वह इलियाब को देख कर कहने लगा, यक़ीनन ख़ुदावन्द का म्मसूह उसके आगे है।”
7 But Yahweh said unto Samuel—Do not regard his countenance, or the height of his stature, for I have rejected him, —for it is not what man looketh to but what God looketh to. For, man, looketh to the outward appearance, but, Yahweh, looketh to the heart.
तब ख़ुदावन्द ने समुएल से कहा कि “तू उसके चेहरा और उसके क़द की ऊँचाई को न देख इसलिए कि मैंने उसे ना पसंद किया है, क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द इंसान की तरह नज़र नहीं करता इसलिए कि इंसान ज़ाहिरी सूरत को देखता है, पर ख़ुदावन्द दिल पर नज़र करता है।”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel, —and he said, Neither of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
तब यस्सी ने अबीनदाब को बुलाया और उसे समुएल के सामने से निकाला, उसने कहा, “ख़ुदावन्द ने इसको भी नहीं चुना।”
9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by, —and he said—Nor of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
फिर यस्सी ने सम्मा को आगे किया, उसने कहा, “ख़ुदावन्द ने इसको भी नहीं चुना।”
10 So Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, —and Samuel said unto Jesse, Yahweh hath not made choice of these.
और यस्सी ने अपने सात बेटों को समुएल के सामने से निकाला और समुएल ने यस्सी से कहा कि “ख़ुदावन्द ने उनको नहीं चुना है।”
11 Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Are these all the young men? And he said—There yet remaineth, the youngest, but lo! he is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Do, send, and summon him, for we cannot sit round, until he cometh in hither.
फिर समुएल ने यस्सी से पूछा, “क्या तेरे सब लड़के यहीं हैं?” उसने कहा, सब से छोटा अभी रह गया, वह भेड़ बकरियाँ चराता है “समुएल ने यस्सी से कहा, उसे बुला भेज क्यूँकि जब तक वह यहाँ न आ जाए हम नहीं बैठेंगे।”
12 So he sent, and brought him in. Now, he, was ruddy, a stripling with handsome eyes, and noble mien. Then said Yahweh—Rise—anoint him, for, this, is, he.
इसलिए वह उसे बुलवाकर अंदर लाया। वह सुर्ख रंग और ख़ूबसूरत और हसीन था और ख़ुदावन्द ने फ़रमाया, “उठ, और उसे मसह कर क्यूँकि वह यही है।”
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily upon David, from that day forward. Then arose Samuel, and went his way unto Ramah.
तब समुएल ने तेल का सींग लिया और उसे उसके भाइयों के बीच मसह किया; और ख़ुदावन्द की रूह उस दिन से आगे को दाऊद पर ज़ोर से नाज़िल होती रही, तब समुएल उठकर रामा को चला गया।
14 But, the spirit of Yahweh, departed from Saul, —and there terrified him a sad spirit, from Yahweh.
और ख़ुदावन्द की रूह साऊल से जुदा हो गई और ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से एक बुरी रूह उसे सताने लगी।
15 Then said the servants of Saul unto him, —Lo! we pray thee, a sad superhuman spirit, doth terrify thee:
और साऊल के मुलाज़िमों ने उससे कहा, “देख अब एक बुरी रूह ख़ुदा की तरफ़ तुझे सताती है।
16 Pray let our lord bid thy servants before thee, seek out a man, skilled in playing on the lyre, —so shall it be, when a sad superhuman spirit cometh on thee, then shall he play with his hand, and thou shalt be joyful.
इसलिए हमारा मालिक अब अपने ख़ादिमों को जो उसके सामने हैं, हुक्म दे कि वह एक ऐसे शख़्स को तलाश कर लाएँ जो बरबत बजाने में क़ाबिल हो, और जब जब ख़ुदा की तरफ़ से यह बुरी रूह तुझ पर चढ़े वह अपने हाथ से बजाए, और तू बहाल हो जाए।”
17 And Saul said unto his servants, —I pray you, look out for me a man that excelleth in playing, and bring him in unto me.
साऊल ने अपने ख़ादिमों से कहा, “ख़ैर एक अच्छा बजाने वाला मेरे लिए ढूँढों और उसे मेरे पास लाओ।”
18 Then responded one of the young men and said—Lo! I have seen—a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, skilled in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and of intelligent speech, and a handsome man, and, Yahweh, is with him.
तब जवानों में से एक यूँ बोल उठा कि “देख मैंने बैतलहम के यस्सी के एक बेटे को देखा जो बजाने में क़ाबिल और ज़बरदस्त सूरमा और जंगी जवान और बात में साहिबे तमीज़ और ख़ूबसूरत आदमी है और ख़ुदावन्द उसके साथ है।”
19 So Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, —and said, Send, unto me—David thy son, who is with the sheep.
तब साऊल ने यस्सी के पास क़ासिद रवाना किए और कहला भेजा कि “अपने बेटे दाऊद को जो भेड़ बकरियों के साथ रहता है, मेरे पास भेज दे।”
20 Then took Jesse an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and one kid, —and sent by the hand of David his son, unto Saul.
तब यस्सी ने एक गधा जिस पर रोटियाँ लदीं थीं, और मय का एक मश्कीज़ा और बकरी का एक बच्चा लेकर उनको अपने बेटे दाऊद के हाथ साऊल के पास भेजा।
21 And David came in unto Saul, —and stood before him, —and he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.
और दाऊद साऊल के पास आकर उसके सामने खड़ा हुआ, और साऊल उससे मुहब्बत करने लगा, और वह उसका सिलह बरदार हो गया।
22 And Saul sent unto Jesse, saying, —I pray thee, let David stand before me, for he hath found favour in mine eyes.
और साऊल ने यस्सी को कहला भेजा कि दाऊद को मेरे सामने रहने दे क्यूँकि वह मेरा मंज़ूरे नज़र हुआ है।
23 And so it used to be, when a superhuman spirit came unto Saul, then would David take the lyre, and play with his hand, —and Saul would be refreshed, and be joyful, and, the sad spirit, would depart from him.
इसलिए जब वह बुरी रूह ख़ुदा की तरफ़ से साऊल पर चढ़ती थी तो दाऊद बरबत लेकर हाथ से बजाता था, और साऊल को राहत होती और वह बहाल हो जाता था, और वह बुरी रूह उस पर से उतर जाती थी।
