1 Samuel 16
1 And Yahweh said unto Samuel—How long, art thou going to pine for Saul, seeing that, I, have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come! let me send thee unto Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided me, among his sons, a king.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେତେ କାଳ ଶାଉଲ ପାଇଁ ଶୋକ କରିବ? ଆମ୍ଭେ ତ ତାହାକୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଉପରେ ରାଜା ହୋଇଥିବା ପାଇଁ ତୁଚ୍ଛ କଲୁ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଶୃଙ୍ଗ ତୈଳରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କରି ଚାଲ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବେଥଲିହିମୀୟ ଯିଶୀ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇବା, କାରଣ ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ପାଇଁ ଏକ ରାଜା ଦେଖିଅଛୁ।”
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? As soon as Saul heareth, he will slay me. Then said Yahweh, A heifer, take thou with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come.
ତହିଁରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ କିପରି ଯାଇ ପାରିବି? ଶାଉଲ ଏହା ଶୁଣିଲେ ମୋତେ ବଧ କରିବେ।” ଆଉ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଛଡ଼ା ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନିଅ ଓ କୁହ, ‘ଆମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ବଳିଦାନ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଅଛୁ।’
3 Then shall thou bid Jesse to the sacrifice, —when, I, will let thee know what thou must do, so shalt thou anoint for me him whom I shall name unto thee.
ପୁଣି, ଯିଶୀକୁ ସେ ବଳିଦାନ ପାଇଁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କର, ତହିଁରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଯାହା କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ, ତାହା ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଜଣାଇବା, ପୁଣି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯାହାକୁ କହିବା, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ତାହାକୁ ଅଭିଷେକ କରିବ।”
4 And Samuel did that which Yahweh had spoken, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and one said—Peaceably, comest thou?
ଏଥିରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରି ବେଥଲିହିମରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ। ତହିଁରେ ନଗରର ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନେ କମ୍ପମାନ ହୋଇ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟିବାକୁ ଆସି ପଚାରିଲେ, “ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଆଗମନ କୁଶଳ?”
5 And he said—Peaceably: to sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and bade them to the sacrifice.
ସେ କହିଲେ, କୁଶଳ; “ମୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ବଳିଦାନ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଅଛି; ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ପବିତ୍ର କର, ପୁଣି, ମୋʼ ସଙ୍ଗେ ବଳିଦାନ କରିବାକୁ ଆସ।” ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ଯିଶୀକୁ ଓ ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କୁ ପବିତ୍ର କରି ବଳିଦାନ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆସିବା ପାଇଁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କଲେ।
6 And it came to pass, when they entered, that he looked upon Eliab, —and said to himself, Surely, before Yahweh, is his Anointed.
ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଆସିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ଇଲୀୟାବ୍ ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଷ୍ଟି କରି କହିଲେ, “ଅବଶ୍ୟ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଆଗରେ ତାହାଙ୍କର ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ।”
7 But Yahweh said unto Samuel—Do not regard his countenance, or the height of his stature, for I have rejected him, —for it is not what man looketh to but what God looketh to. For, man, looketh to the outward appearance, but, Yahweh, looketh to the heart.
ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଏହାର ରୂପ କି ଶରୀରର ଉଚ୍ଚତା ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ନ କର; ଯେହେତୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଏହାକୁ ଅଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କଲୁ; ପୁଣି, ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଯେପରି ଦେଖେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସେପରି ଦେଖନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ବାହ୍ୟରୂପ ଦେଖେ ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ ଦେଖନ୍ତି;”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel, —and he said, Neither of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯିଶୀ ଅବୀନାଦବକୁ ଡାକି ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କର ସମ୍ମୁଖ ଦେଇ ଗମନ କରାଇଲା। ତହିଁରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହାକୁ ହିଁ ମନୋନୀତ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି।”
9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by, —and he said—Nor of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
ତେବେ ଯିଶୀ ଶମ୍ମକୁ ଗମନ କରାଇଲା; ତହିଁରେ ସେ କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ମନୋନୀତ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି।”
10 So Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, —and Samuel said unto Jesse, Yahweh hath not made choice of these.
ଏହିରୂପେ ଯିଶୀ ଆପଣାର ସାତ ପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଗମନ କରାଇଲା; ମାତ୍ର ଶାମୁୟେଲ ଯିଶୀକୁ କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏମାନଙ୍କୁ ମନୋନୀତ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି।”
11 Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Are these all the young men? And he said—There yet remaineth, the youngest, but lo! he is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Do, send, and summon him, for we cannot sit round, until he cometh in hither.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ ଯିଶୀକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭର ସବୁ ସନ୍ତାନ କି ଏଠାରେ ଅଛନ୍ତି?” ସେ କହିଲା, “କେବଳ କନିଷ୍ଠଟି ବାକି ଅଛି, ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ସେ ମେଷପଲ ଚରାଉଛି।” ତହିଁରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ ଯିଶୀକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ତାକୁ ଅଣାଅ; ସେ ଏଠାକୁ ନ ଆସିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ (ଭୋଜନରେ) ବସିବୁ ନାହିଁ।”
12 So he sent, and brought him in. Now, he, was ruddy, a stripling with handsome eyes, and noble mien. Then said Yahweh—Rise—anoint him, for, this, is, he.
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ତାହାକୁ ଅଣାଇଲା। ସେ ଈଷତ୍ ରକ୍ତବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଓ ସୁନୟନ ଓ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ସୁନ୍ଦର। ସେତେବେଳେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ, “ଉଠ, ଏହାକୁ ଅଭିଷେକ କର; ଏ ସେହି ଲୋକ।”
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily upon David, from that day forward. Then arose Samuel, and went his way unto Ramah.
ତହୁଁ ଶାମୁୟେଲ ତୈଳଶୃଙ୍ଗ ନେଇ ତାଙ୍କ ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅଭିଷେକ କଲେ; ତହିଁରେ ସେହି ଦିନାବଧି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଆତ୍ମା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରାନ୍ତ କଲେ। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାମୁୟେଲ ଉଠି ରାମାକୁ ଚାଲିଗଲେ।
14 But, the spirit of Yahweh, departed from Saul, —and there terrified him a sad spirit, from Yahweh.
ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଆତ୍ମା ଶାଉଲଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ତାଙ୍କୁ ବିରକ୍ତ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲା।
15 Then said the servants of Saul unto him, —Lo! we pray thee, a sad superhuman spirit, doth terrify thee:
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ବିରକ୍ତ କରୁଅଛି।
16 Pray let our lord bid thy servants before thee, seek out a man, skilled in playing on the lyre, —so shall it be, when a sad superhuman spirit cometh on thee, then shall he play with his hand, and thou shalt be joyful.
ଏଣୁ ଜଣେ ନିପୁଣ ବୀଣାବାଦକ ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଆପଣା ସମ୍ମୁଖସ୍ଥ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା କରନ୍ତୁ; ତହିଁରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସେହି ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଥିବା ବେଳେ, ସେ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ହାତରେ ବଜାଇଲେ ଆପଣ ଭଲ ହୋଇଯିବେ।”
17 And Saul said unto his servants, —I pray you, look out for me a man that excelleth in playing, and bring him in unto me.
ତହୁଁ ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆଚ୍ଛା, ଯେ ଭଲ ବଜାଇ ପାରେ, ଏପରି ଏକ ଜଣ ମୋʼ ପାଇଁ ଦେଖି ତାହାକୁ ମୋʼ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣ।”
18 Then responded one of the young men and said—Lo! I have seen—a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, skilled in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and of intelligent speech, and a handsome man, and, Yahweh, is with him.
ତହିଁରେ ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ କହିଲା; “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ମୁଁ ବେଥଲିହିମୀୟ ଯିଶୀର ଏକ ପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିଅଛି, ସେ ବଜାଇବାରେ ନିପୁଣ ଓ ମହାବିକ୍ରମଶାଳୀ ଓ ଯୋଦ୍ଧା ଓ କଥାରେ ବିଜ୍ଞ, ଆଉ ରୂପବାନ, ପୁଣି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତାଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଅଛନ୍ତି।”
19 So Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, —and said, Send, unto me—David thy son, who is with the sheep.
ଏହେତୁ ଶାଉଲ ଯିଶୀ ନିକଟକୁ ଦୂତମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ, ଯେ ମେଷପଲ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଥାଏ, ତାକୁ ମୋʼ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଦିଅ।”
20 Then took Jesse an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and one kid, —and sent by the hand of David his son, unto Saul.
ତହିଁରେ ଯିଶୀ ରୁଟିରେ ନଦା ଏକ ଗଧ, ଏକ କୁମ୍ପା ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଓ ଏକ ଛେଳିଛୁଆ ନେଇ ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲା।
21 And David came in unto Saul, —and stood before him, —and he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.
ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି ତାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ ଓ ଶାଉଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅତିଶୟ ସ୍ନେହ କଲେ; ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ଅସ୍ତ୍ରବାହକ ହେଲେ।
22 And Saul sent unto Jesse, saying, —I pray thee, let David stand before me, for he hath found favour in mine eyes.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ଯିଶୀକୁ କହି ପଠାଇଲେ, ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, “ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ମୋʼ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଛିଡ଼ା ହେବାକୁ ଦିଅ; କାରଣ ସେ ମୋʼ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଇଅଛି।”
23 And so it used to be, when a superhuman spirit came unto Saul, then would David take the lyre, and play with his hand, —and Saul would be refreshed, and be joyful, and, the sad spirit, would depart from him.
ଏଣୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସେହି ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ଯେତେବେଳେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଥାଏ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଦାଉଦ ବୀଣା ନେଇ ଆପଣା ହାତରେ ବଜାନ୍ତି; ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ ଆଶ୍ୱାସ ପାଆନ୍ତି ଓ ଭଲ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ପୁଣି, ମନ୍ଦ ଆତ୍ମା ତାଙ୍କୁ ଛାଡ଼ିଯାଏ।
