1 Kings 6
1 And so it came to pass, in the four hundred and eightieth year, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year (in the month of Zif, the same, being the second month) of the reign of Solomon over Israel, that he began to build the house unto Yahweh.
I det fire hundre og åttiende år efter Israels barns utgang av Egyptens land, i måneden siv - det er den annen måned - i det fjerde år efterat Salomo var blitt konge over Israel, begynte han å bygge huset for Herren.
2 Now, the house which King Solomon built unto Yahweh, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty in breadth, —and thirty cubits in height.
Huset som kong Salomo bygget for Herren, var seksti alen langt og tyve alen bredt og tretti alen høit.
3 And, the porch in front of the temple of the house, was twenty cubits in length, according to the breadth of the house, —ten cubits in breadth, in front of the house.
Og forhallen foran det Hellige var tyve alen, svarende til bredden av huset, og ti alen bred målt ut fra huset.
4 And he made to the house windows, with closed bars.
På huset gjorde han vinduer med fast gitterverk.
5 And he built—by the wall of the house—a gallery, round about, against the walls of the house, round about, both to the temple, and to the shrine, —and he made side chambers round about.
Op til husets vegg bygget han en tilbygning rundt omkring - langs med veggene på huset, både det Hellige og koret, og således gjorde han sidekammer rundt omkring.
6 The, lowest gallery, was five cubits broad, and, the middle, six cubits broad, and, the third, seven cubits broad, —for he put, ledges, against the house round about, on the outer side, so as not to make fastenings in the walls of the house.
Det nederste stokkverk var fem alen bredt og det mellemste seks alen bredt og det tredje syv alen bredt; for han hadde gjort avsatser på huset rundt omkring på utsiden, så ikke bjelkene skulde gå inn i husets vegger.
7 Now, the house, when it was in building, with whole quarry-stones, was built, —neither hammer, nor axe, nor any tools of iron, was heard in the house, when it was in building.
Da huset blev reist, blev det bygget av hele stener fra stenbruddet; en hørte hverken hammer eller øks eller noget slags jernredskap i huset da det blev bygget.
8 The entrance of the lowest story, was on the right side of the house, —and, by winding stairs, went they up unto the middle [story], and, out of the middle, into, the third.
Døren til det mellemste sidekammer var på husets høire side, og på en vindeltrapp kom en op i det mellemste stokkverk, og fra det mellemste op i det tredje.
9 So he built the house, and finished it, —and ceiled the house with planks and beams of cedar;
Således bygget han huset, og da han hadde gjort det ferdig, tekte han det med bjelker og med sederplanker i rader.
10 and built the gallery against all the house, five cubits in height, —and so fastened the house, with timber of cedar.
Tilbygningen som han bygget rundt om hele huset, var fem alen høi for hvert stokkverk og var festet til huset ved sederbjelker.
11 Then came the word of Yahweh unto Solomon, saying:
Da kom Herrens ord til Salomo, og det lød således:
12 Concerning this house, which thou art building, If thou wilt walk in my statutes, and, my regulations, wilt practise, and so observe all my commandments, by walking in them, Then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father;
Nu bygger du dette hus - hvis du da vandrer efter mine forskrifter og holder mine lover og tar vare på alle mine bud, så du følger dem, da vil jeg opfylle på dig det ord jeg talte til din far David,
13 and will make my habitation in the midst of the sons of Israel, —and will not forsake my people Israel.
og jeg vil bo midt iblandt Israels barn, og jeg vil ikke forlate mitt folk Israel.
14 Thus Solomon built the house, and finished it;
Så bygget da Salomo huset og gjorde det ferdig.
15 and he built the walls of the house on the inside, with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house, unto the cross-beams of the ceiling, he overlaid it with wood, on the inside, —and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of fir.
Han klædde husets vegger innentil med sederbord; fra gulvet og helt op til loftsbjelkene klædde han huset innentil med tre, og gulvet klædde han med cypressbord.
16 And he built twenty cubits, at the hinder part of the house, with boards of cedar, from the floor as far as the cross-beams, —and he built it within, for a shrine, even for the holy of holies;
Tyve alen fra husets bakside satte han en vegg av sederbord fra gulvet og op til loftsbjelkene, og rummet innenfor innredet han til kor - det var det Aller-helligste.
17 but, forty cubits, was the house itself, —the same, was the temple, before the oracle.
Og huset - det Hellige foran koret - var firti alen langt.
18 And, the cedar for the house within, was carved with colocynths, and with festoons of flowers, —the whole, was cedar, there was no stone to be seen.
Innvendig var huset prydet med utskjæringer i sedertre - kolokvinter og utsprungne blomster; alt sammen var sedertre, der var ingen sten å se.
19 And, the shrine in the midst of the house within, made he ready, —for placing there, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.

20 And, the interior of the shrine, was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in height, and he overlaid it, with pure gold, —and overlaid the altar with cedar.
Og foran koret, som var tyve alen langt og tyve alen bredt og tyve alen høit, og som han klædde med fint gull, satte han et alter og klædde det med sedertre.
21 Thus then did Solomon overlay the house within, with pure gold, —and he drew chains of gold across the front of the shrine, and overlaid it with gold;

22 yea, all the house, overlaid he with gold, until he had made all the house into one whole, —even all the altar that was by the shrine, overlaid he with gold.
Hele huset klædde han med gull fra ende til annen; og hele alteret som hørte til koret, klædde han med gull.
23 And he made, within the shrine, two cherubim of wild olive wood, —ten cubits in height;
I koret gjorde han to kjeruber av oljetre; de var ti alen høie.
24 and, five cubits, was the one wing of the cherub, and, five cubits, the second wing of the cherub, —ten cubits, from the one end of his wings unto the other end of his wings.
Kjerubens ene vinge var fem alen og kjerubens andre vinge fem alen - det var ti alen fra vingespiss til vingespiss.
25 Ten cubits, also was the second cherub, —of one size and one shape, were the two cherubim.
Den andre kjerub var og ti alen; begge kjerubene hadde samme mål og samme skikkelse.
26 The height of the one cherub, was ten cubits, —and, so, of the second cherub.
Den ene kjerub var ti alen høi og likeså den andre kjerub.
27 And he placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and the cherubim stretched forth their wings, —so that the wing of the one touched the [one] wall, and the wing of the other cherub, was touching the other wall, —and, their wings in the midst of the house, were touching, wing to wing.
Og han satte kjerubene i det innerste rum i huset, og de strakte kjerubenes vinger ut, så den enes vinge rørte ved den ene vegg, og den andre kjerubs vinge rørte ved den andre vegg, mens deres vinger midt i huset rørte ved hverandre,
28 And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
og han klædde kjerubene med gull.
29 And, all the walls of the house round about, carved he with figures of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, —within and without.
Alle husets vegger rundt omkring prydet han med utskårne billeder av kjeruber og palmer og utsprungne blomster både i det indre rum og i det ytre.
30 Even the floor of the house, overlaid he with gold, —within and without.
Og husets gulv klædde han med gull, både i det indre rum og i det ytre.
31 And, the entrance of the shrine, made he with doors, of wild olive-wood, the pillars and posts being a fifth.
For inngangen til koret gjorde han en fløidør av oljetre; den øvre dørkarm med dørstolpene utgjorde en femtedel av veggen.
32 The two doors, also were of olive-wood, and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold, —yea he spread out, over the cherubim and over the palm-trees, the gold.
Og de to dører av oljetre prydet han med utskårne billeder av kjeruber og palmer og utsprungne blomster og klædde dem med gull; han bredte gullet ut over kjerubene og palmene.
33 So, also, made he for the entrance of the temple, with posts of wild olive-wood, —a fourth part.
Likeså gjorde han dørstolper av oljetre for inngangen til det Hellige, på fjerdedelen av veggen,
34 And, the two doors, were of fir wood, —the two leaves of the one door, were folding, and, the two leaves of the other door, were folding.
og to dørfløier av cypresstre; begge dørfløiene var i to deler, som kunne svinges hver for sig.
35 And he carved cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold, smoothed out on the carved work.
Og han prydet dem med utskjæringer: kjeruber og palmer og utsprungne blomster, og han klædde dem med gull som blev lagt jevnt utover utskjæringene.
36 And he built the inner court, with three rows of hewn stone, —and a row of beams of cedar.
Og han bygget den indre forgård av tre lag huggen sten og ett lag sederbjelker.
37 In the fourth year, was laid the foundation of the house of Yahweh, —in the month Zif;
I det fjerde år blev grunnvollen lagt til Herrens hus, i måneden siv,
38 and, in the eleventh year, in the month Bul—the same, is the eighth month, was the house finished, as to all the particulars thereof, and as to all the appointments thereof, —so then he built it in seven years.
og i det ellevte år i måneden bul det er den åttende måned var huset ferdig i alle sine deler og i ett og alt som det skulde være. Da hadde han bygget på det i syv år.
