1 Kings 22
1 And there continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
௧சீரியர்களுக்கும் இஸ்ரவேலர்களுக்கும் மூன்று வருடங்கள் யுத்தமில்லாமல் இருந்தது.
2 But it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down unto the king of Israel.
௨மூன்றாம் வருடத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிடம் போயிருக்கும்போது,
3 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that, ours, is Ramoth-gilead, —yet, we, are too idle to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?
௩இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத் நம்முடையதென்று அறியீர்களா? நாம் அதைச் சீரியா ராஜாவின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொள்ளாமல், சும்மாயிருப்பானேன் என்று சொல்லி,
4 And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to make war upon Ramoth-gilead?
௪யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்ய என்னோடு கூட வருகிறீரா என்று கேட்டான். யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான்தான் நீர், என்னுடைய மக்கள் உம்முடைய மக்கள், என்னுடைய குதிரைகள் உம்முடைய குதிரைகள் என்றான்.
5 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people are us thy people, my horses as thy horses.
௫பின்னும் யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையை இன்றைக்கு விசாரித்து அறியும் என்றான்.
6 Then said Jehoshaphat unto the king of Israel, —Seek, I pray thee, at once, the word of Yahweh. So the king of Israel gathered together the prophets, about four hundred men, and said unto them—Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead, to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said—Go up, that the Lord may deliver it into the hand of the king.
௬அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஏறக்குறைய நானூறு தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து: நான் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்யப்போகலாமா, போக வேண்டாமா என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டதற்கு; அவர்கள், போம், ஆண்டவர் ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
7 Then said Jehoshaphat, Is there not here a prophet of Yahweh, besides, —that we may seek, from him?
௭பின்பு யோசபாத்: நாம் விசாரித்து அறிவதற்கு இவர்களைத் தவிர யெகோவாவுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி வேறே யாராவது இங்கே இல்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Besides, is a certain man, by whom we might seek Yahweh, but, I, hate him, for he is never moved to prophesy concerning me anything good, only evil, Micaiah, son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
௮அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: யெகோவாவிடம் விசாரித்து அறிவதற்கு இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயா என்னும் இன்னும் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவனைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; அவன் என்னைக்குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்றான். அதற்கு யோசபாத், ராஜாவே, அப்படிச் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றான்.
9 Then the king of Israel called a certain courtier, —and said, Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.
௯அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயாவைச் சீக்கிரமாய் அழைத்துவா என்றான்.
10 Now, the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, were sitting—each man upon his throne, having put on robes, in a level place, at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, —and, all the prophets, were being moved to prophesy before them;
௧0இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும், சமாரியாவின் வாசலுக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கும் திறந்த வெளியிலே ராஜஉடை அணிந்துகொண்டவர்களாக, அவரவர் தம்தம் சிங்காசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; எல்லாத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொன்னார்கள்.
11 when Zedekiah son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, —and said—Thus, saith Yahweh, —With these, shalt thou push down the Syrians, until thou hast consumed them.
௧௧கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா தனக்கு இரும்புக்கொம்புகளை உண்டாக்கி, இவைகளால் நீர் சீரியர்களைத் தள்ளி அழித்துப்போடுவீர் என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.
12 And, all the prophets, were being moved to prophesy, in like manner, saying, —Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and thou shalt prosper, and Yahweh will deliver it, into the hand of the king.
௧௨எல்லாத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அதற்கு இசைவாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் நீர் போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; யெகோவா அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
13 Now, the messenger who went to call Micaiah, spake unto him, saying, Behold, I pray thee, the words of the prophets, with one mouth, are good, as touching the king, let thy word, I pray thee, be as the word of one of them, so wilt thou speak that which is good.
௧௩மிகாயாவை அழைக்கப்போன ஆள் அவனுடன் பேசி: இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய வார்த்தைகள் எல்லாம் ராஜாவிற்கு நன்மையாக இருக்கிறது; உம்முடைய வார்த்தையும் அவர்களில் ஒருவர் வார்த்தையைப்போல இருக்கும்படி நன்மையாகச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.
14 And Micaiah said, —By the life of Yahweh, what Yahweh saith unto me, that, will I, speak.
௧௪அதற்கு மிகாயா: யெகோவா என்னிடம் சொல்வதையே சொல்லுவேன் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.
15 So he came unto the king, and the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he said unto him—Go up and prosper, and Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.
௧௫அவன் ராஜாவிடம் வந்தபோது, ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: மிகாயாவே, நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்யப் போகலாமா, போகவேண்டாமா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: நீர் போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; யெகோவா அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; என்றான்.
16 And the king said unto him, How many times must, I, adjure thee, —that thou speak unto me nothing but truth, in the name of Yahweh?
௧௬ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்தில் உண்மையைத்தவிர வேறொன்றையும் என்னிடம் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு, நான் எத்தனைமுறை உன்னை ஆணையிடச் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.
17 And he said—I saw all Israel, scattered among the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd, —so Yahweh said, These have, no masters, let them return every man unto his own house, in peace.
௧௭அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும் மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போல மலைகளிலே சிதறப்பட்டதைக் கண்டேன்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: இவர்களுக்கு எஜமான் இல்லை; அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டிற்குச் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பக்கடவர்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.
18 Then said the king of Israel, unto Jehoshaphat, —Did I not say unto thee, He will not be moved to prophesy concerning me anything good, only calamity.
௧௮அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: இவன் என்னைக் குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்று நான் உம்மோடு சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.
19 Then he said, Therefore, hear thou the word of Yahweh, —I saw Yahweh, sitting upon his throne, and all the host of the heavens, standing by him, on his right hand, and on his left.
௧௯அப்பொழுது மிகாயா சொன்னது: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளும்; யெகோவா தம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறதையும், பரமசேனையெல்லாம் அவரிடம் அவரின் வலது பக்கத்திலும், இடது பக்கத்திலும் நிற்கிறதையும் கண்டேன்.
20 And Yahweh said, Who will persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall, at Ramoth-gilead? And, one, said in this manner, and, another, said in that manner.
௨0அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: ஆகாப் போய், கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தில் விழும்படி, அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்கிறவன் யார் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, ஒருவன் இப்படியும் ஒருவன் அப்படியும் சொன்னார்கள்.
21 Then came forth a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said—I, will persuade him.
௨௧அப்பொழுது ஒரு ஆவி புறப்பட்டு வந்து, யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று; நான் அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்வேன் என்றது.
22 And Yahweh said unto him—Wherewith? And he said—I will go forth, and become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets, —So he said, —Thou mayest persuade, yea and prevail, go forth, and do so.
௨௨எதினால் என்று யெகோவா அதைக் கேட்டார். அப்பொழுது அது: நான் போய், அவனுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எல்லோரின் வாயிலும் பொய்யின் ஆவியாக இருப்பேன் என்றது. அதற்கு அவர்: நீ அவனுக்குப் போதனைசெய்து அப்படி நடக்கச்செய்வாய்; போய் அப்படிச் செய் என்றார்.
23 Now, therefore, lo! Yahweh hath suffered a spirit of falsehood to be put into the mouth of all these thy prophets. But, Yahweh himself, hath spoken concerning thee, calamity.
௨௩ஆதலால் யெகோவா பொய்யின் ஆவியை உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய இவர்கள் எல்லோருடைய வாயிலும் கட்டளையிட்டார்; யெகோவா உம்மைக் குறித்துத் தீமையாகச் சொன்னார் என்றான்.
24 Then drew near Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, —and said—Where then passed the Spirit of Yahweh, from me, to speak unto thee?
௨௪அப்பொழுது கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா அருகில் வந்து, மிகாயாவைக் கன்னத்தில் அடித்து, யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவி எந்த வழியாக என்னைவிட்டு உன்னோடு பேசும்படி வந்தது என்றான்.
25 Then said Micaiah, Lo! thou art about to see, on that day, —when thou enterest a chamber within a chamber, to hide thyself.
௨௫அதற்கு மிகாயா: நீ ஒளிந்துகொள்ள உள் அறையிலே பதுங்கும் அந்த நாளிலே அதைக் காண்பாய் என்றான்.
26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon captain of the city, —and unto Joash son of the king;
௨௬அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: மிகாயாவைப் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்தின் தலைவனாகிய ஆமோனிடத்திற்கும், ராஜாவின் மகனாகிய யோவாசிடத்திற்கும் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய்,
27 and thou shalt say—Thus, saith the king, Put this man into the prison, —and let him eat the bread of oppression, with the water of oppression, until I enter in peace.
௨௭இவனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து, நான் சமாதானத்தோடு வரும்வரை, இவனுக்கு கொஞ்சம் அப்பத்தையும் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீரையும் சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள் என்று ராஜா சொன்னார் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.
28 Then said Micaiah, If thou, return, in peace, Yahweh hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you!
௨௮அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பி வருகிறது உண்டானால், யெகோவா என்னைக்கொண்டு பேசவில்லை என்று சொல்லி; மக்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் இதைக் கேளுங்கள் என்றான்.
29 So the king of Israel went up, with Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-gilead.
௨௯பின்பு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் போனார்கள்.
30 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat—I am about to disguise myself, and enter into the battle, thou, therefore, put on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself, and entered into the battle.
௩0இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: நான் வேஷம்மாறி யுத்தத்தில் நுழைவேன்; நீரோ ராஜஉடை அணிந்திரும் என்று சொல்லி, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா வேஷம்மாறி, யுத்தத்தில் நுழைந்தான்.
31 Now, the king of Syria, had commanded the captains of chariots which he had, thirty and two, saying, Ye shall not fight with small or great, —save with the king of Israel alone.
௩௧சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் முப்பத்திரண்டு தலைவர்களையும் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவர்களோடும் பெரியவர்களோடும் யுத்தம்செய்யாமல் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடுமாத்திரம் யுத்தம் செய்யுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.
32 And it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw Jehoshaphat, that, they, said: Surely it is, the king of Israel! But, when they turned aside against him to fight, Jehoshaphat cried out.
௩௨எனவே, இரதங்களின் தலைவர்கள் யோசபாத்தைக் காணும்போது, இவன்தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா என்று சொல்லி யுத்தம்செய்ய அவனுக்கு நேராக வந்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யோசபாத் கூக்குரலிட்டான்.
33 And it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw that it was, not the king of Israel, that they turned back, from pursuing him.
௩௩இவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அல்ல என்று இரதங்களின் தலைவர்கள் கண்டு அவனைவிட்டு விலகிப்போனார்கள்.
34 But, a certain man, drawing a bow in his innocence, smote the king of Israel, between the shoulder-joints and the coat of mail, —wherefore he said to his charioteer—Turn thy hand, and convey me out of the host, for I am sore wounded.
௩௪ஒருவன் தெரியாமல் வில்லை நாணேற்றி எய்தான்; அது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினுடைய கவசத்தின் சந்துகளுக்குள் பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அவன் தன்னுடைய ரத ஓட்டியைப் பார்த்து; நீ திருப்பி என்னை இராணுவத்திற்கு மறுபுறம் கொண்டுபோ; எனக்குக் காயம்பட்டது என்றான்.
35 But the battle increased that day, and, the king, was propped up in the chariot, before the Syrians, —and died in the evening, and so the blood of the wound ran out into the hollow of the chariot.
௩௫அன்றையதினம் யுத்தம் அதிகரித்தது; ராஜாவைச் சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக இரதத்தில் நிறுத்திவைத்தார்கள்; சாயங்காலத்திலே அவன் இறந்துபோனான்; காயத்தின் இரத்தம் இரதத்தின் தட்டிலே வடிந்தது.
36 And a loud cry went through the host, at the going in of the sun, saying—Every man to his own city! and every man to his own land!
௩௬பொழுதுபோகும்போது அவரவர் தம்தம் பட்டணத்திற்கும், அவரவர் தம்தம் தேசத்திற்கும் போகலாம் என்று இராணுவத்தில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
37 So the king died, and was brought into Samaria, —and they buried the king, in Samaria.
௩௭அப்படியே ராஜா இறந்தபின்பு சமாரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டான்; ராஜாவை சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம்செய்தார்கள்.
38 And, when the chariot was washed out at the pool of Samaria, the dogs lapped up his blood, also, the harlots, bathed [there], —according to the word of Yahweh which he had spoken.
௩௮அந்த இரதத்தையும் அவனுடைய கவசத்தையும் சமாரியாவின் குளத்திலே கழுவுகிறபோது யெகோவா சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே, நாய்கள் அவனுடைய இரத்தத்தை நக்கினது.
39 Now, the rest of the story of Ahab, and all that he did, and the house of ivory that he built, and all the cities that he built, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
௩௯ஆகாபின் மற்ற செயல்பாடுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவன் கட்டின அரண்மனையின் வரலாறும், அவன் கட்டின எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களின் வரலாறும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, —and, Ahaziah his son, reigned, in his stead.
௪0ஆகாப் மரணமடைந்து முன்னோர்களோடு அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டபின்பு, அவனுடைய மகனாகிய அகசியா அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.
41 Now, Jehoshaphat son of Asa, began to reign over Judah, —in the fourth year of Ahab, king of Israel.
௪௧ஆசாவின் மகனாகிய யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாப் அரசாட்சி செய்த நான்காம் வருடத்தில் யூதாவின்மேல் ராஜாவானான்.
42 Jehoshaphat, was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and, twenty-five years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Azubah, daughter of Shilhi.
௪௨யோசபாத் ராஜாவாகிறபோது முப்பத்தைந்து வயதாக இருந்து, இருபத்தைந்து வருடங்கள் எருசலேமில் அரசாட்சிசெய்தான்; சில்கியின் மகளாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின்பெயர் அசுபாள்.
43 And he walked in all the way of Asa his father, he turned not aside therefrom, —doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh: nevertheless, the high places, were not taken away, —still were the people offering sacrifices and burning incense in the high places.
௪௩அவன் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதைவிட்டு விலகாமல் யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் மேடைகள் இடிக்கப்படவில்லை; மக்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபம் காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.
44 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
௪௪யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவோடு சமாதானமாக இருந்தான்.
45 Now, the rest of the story of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
௪௫யோசபாத்தின் மற்ற செயல்பாடுகளும், அவன் காட்டிய வல்லமையும், அவன் செய்த யுத்தமும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
46 Moreover, the rest of the male devotees who remained in the days of Asa his father, he consumed out of the land.
௪௬தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் நாட்களில் மீதியாக விட்டிருந்த ஆண் விபசாரக்காரர்களையும் அவனுடைய தேசத்திலிருந்து அற்றுப்போகச்செய்தான்.
47 And, king, was there none in Edom, a prefect, was king.
௪௭அப்பொழுது ஏதோமில் ராஜா இல்லை; பிரதிராஜா ஒருவன் இருந்தான்.
48 Jehoshaphat, made ships of Tarshish, to go to Ophir, for gold; but they went not, —for ships had been broken to pieces in Ezion-geber.
௪௮பொன்னுக்காக ஓப்பீருக்குப் போகும்படி, யோசபாத் தர்ஷீஸ் கப்பல்களைச் செய்தான்; ஆனால் அவைகள் போகவில்லை; அவைகள் எசியோன் கேபேரிலே உடைந்துபோனது.
49 Then, said Ahaziah son of Ahab, unto Jehoshaphat, Let, my servants, go with, thy servants, in the ships, —but Jehoshaphat did not consent.
௪௯அப்பொழுது ஆகாபின் மகனாகிய அகசியா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: என்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரர்களோடு கப்பல்களில் போகட்டும் என்றான்; அதற்கு யோசபாத் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.
50 So Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, —and, Jehoram his son, reigned, in his stead.
௫0யோசபாத் மரணமடைந்து, தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் தன்னுடைய முன்னோர்களோடு அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்; அவனுடைய மகனாகிய யோராம் அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.
51 Ahaziah son of Ahab, began to reign over Israel, in Samaria, in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, —and reigned over Israel, two years.
௫௧ஆகாபின் மகனாகிய அகசியா யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தின் பதினேழாம் வருடத்திலே சமாரியாவில் ராஜாவாகி, இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் இரண்டு வருடங்கள் அரசாட்சிசெய்து,
52 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and went in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused, Israel, to sin.
௫௨யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குத் தீங்கானதைச் செய்து, தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் வழியிலும், தன்னுடைய தாயின் வழியிலும், இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவம்செய்யச்செய்த நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் வழியிலும் நடந்து,
