1 Kings 2
1 And, when the days of David drew near that he must die, he charged Solomon his son, saying: —
੧ਜਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ
2 I, am going the way of all the earth, —thou must be strong, therefore, and show thyself a man;
੨ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਤਕੜਾ ਹੋ ਤੇ ਮਰਦ ਬਣ।
3 and keep the observances of Yahweh thy God, by walking in his ways, by keeping his statutes, his commandments, and his regulations and his testimonies, as written in the law of Moses, —to the end thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself;
੩ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ, ਹੁਕਮਾਂ, ਨਿਯਮਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਭ ਕਾਸੇ ਵੱਲ ਜਿੱਧਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਰੇਂ, ਸਫ਼ਲ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ।
4 to the end that Yahweh may establish his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy sons will take heed to their way, by walking before me, in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, (then, said he) there shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
੪ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਬਚਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਚਲੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
5 Moreover also, thou, knowest what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with two generals of the armies of Israel—with Abner son of Ner, and with Amasa son of Jether—both of whom he slew, shedding the blood of war in peace, —and putting the blood of war upon his girdle that was on his loins, and upon his sandals, that were on his feet.
੫ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਵੀ ਹੈਂ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨੇਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਨੇਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਥਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਵਹਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੇਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਛਿੜਕਿਆ।
6 Thou, therefore, must do according to thy wisdom, —but will not let his grey hair go down in peace, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
੬ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਧੌਲਾ ਸਿਰ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਧੋਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਵੀਂ। (Sheol h7585)
7 But, with the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, thou wilt deal in lovingkindness, and they will be among them who eat at thy table, —for, so, drew they near unto me, when I fled from Absolom thy brother.
੭ਪਰ ਬਰਜ਼ਿੱਲਈ ਗਿਲਆਦੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਕਰੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਰਲਾ ਦੇਈਂ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਭੱਜਿਆ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਸਨ।
8 Lo! also, there is with thee—Shimei son of Gera a Benjamite, of Behurim, well, he, it was who cursed me with a grievous curse; on the day I journeyed to Mahanaim, —but he, came down to meet me, at the Jordan, and so I sware to him by Yahweh, saying—I will not put thee to death, with the sword.
੮ਵੇਖ ਬਹੁਰੀਮ ਦੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀ ਗੇਰਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਮੈਂ ਮਹਨਇਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਰਾਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਯਰਦਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਵੱਢਾਂਗਾ।
9 Now, therefore do not hold him guiltless, for, a wise man, thou art, and wilt know how thou oughtest to deal with him, and wilt suffer his grey hairs to go down with blood, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
੯ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਨਾ ਛੱਡੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧੌਲਾ ਸਿਰ ਲਹੂ ਨਾਲ ਕਬਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਤਾਰੀ। (Sheol h7585)
10 So then David slept with his fathers, —and was buried in the city of David.
੧੦ਦਾਊਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਂ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
11 Now, the days that David reigned over Israel, were forty years, —in Hebron, reigned he seven years, and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years.
੧੧ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਸਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਤੀ ਸਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
12 But, when, Solomon, took his seat upon the throne of David his father, then was the kingdom firmly established.
੧੨ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
13 And Adonijah son of Haggith came in unto Bath-sheba, mother of Solomon: And she said—Peaceably, comest thou? And he said—Peaceably.
੧੩ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੱਗੀਥ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਥ-ਸ਼ਬਾ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ। ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਸੁਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ? ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਸੁਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ।
14 Then said he—I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said—Say on.
੧੪ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈਂ? ਉਸ ਆਖਿਆ, ਬੋਲ।
15 And he said—Thou, knowest that, mine, was the kingdom, and, on me, had all Israel set their faces, that I should become king, —howbeit the kingdom, hath turned about, and become my brother’s, for, from Yahweh, became it, his.
੧੫ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਾਂ, ਪਰ ਰਾਜ ਉਲਟ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੀ।
16 Now, therefore, one request, have I to ask of thee, do not turn away my face.
੧੬ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਂਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੀਂ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਬੋਲ।
17 And she said unto him—Say on. And he said—Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, for he will not turn away thy face, —that he give me Abishag the Shunammite, to wife.
੧੭ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਦਯਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਗ ਸ਼ੂਨੰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਦੇਵੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਮੋੜੇਗਾ।
18 And Bath-sheba said: Good! I myself, will speak for thee, unto the king.
੧੮ਬਥ-ਸ਼ਬਾ ਆਖਿਆ, ਚੰਗਾ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ।
19 So Bath-sheba went in unto King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah, —and the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself down to her, and sat down upon his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.
੧੯ਬਥ-ਸ਼ਬਾ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਲਗਵਾਈ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੱਲ ਬੈਠ ਗਈ।
20 Then said she—One small request, am I asking of thee, do not turn away my face. And the king said to her—Ask on, my mother, for I will not turn away thy face.
੨੦ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖਾਲੀ ਨਾ ਮੋੜੀਂ, ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਮੰਗੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬੋਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮੋੜਾਂਗਾ।
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother, to wife.
੨੧ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਗ ਸ਼ੂਨੰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਦੇ।
22 Then answered King Solomon, and said to his mother—Wherefore, then, art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite, for Adonijah? ask, then, for him the kingdom, because he is mine elder brother, —even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab, son of Zeruiah.
੨੨ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਲਈ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਗ ਸ਼ੂਨੰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਹੈਂ? ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ ਵੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਲਈ ਵੀ।
23 Then swore King Solomon by Yahweh, saying, —So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, if, at the cost of his life, Adonijah hath not spoken this word.
੨੩ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੇ ਕਦੇ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲੀ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ।
24 Now, therefore, by the life of Yahweh, who hath established me, and seated me upon the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me a household, as he had spoken, surely, to-day, shall Adonijah be put to death!
੨੪ਹੁਣ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਜਿਸ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਿਠਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
25 So King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, —and he fell upon him, that he died.
੨੫ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ।
26 Also, unto Abiathar the priest, said the king—To Anathoth, get thee unto thine own fields, for, death-doomed, thou art, —but, this day, will I not put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of My Lord, Yahweh, before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
੨੬ਫੇਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਨਾਥੋਥ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਾ ਜਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮਰਨ ਜੋਗ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਏ ਸਨ।
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Yahweh, —to fulfil the word of Yahweh which he spake concerning the household of Eli, in Shiloh.
੨੭ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੇ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੀਲੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਲੀ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਸੀ।
28 And, the report, came unto Joab, for, Joab, had inclined after Adonijah, although, after Solomon, he had not inclined, —so then Joab fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and laid hold of the horns of the altar.
੨੮ਇਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯੋਆਬ ਅਦੋਨੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤਾਂ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੀ ਸੀ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਲੱਗਾ। ਯੋਆਬ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਜਾ ਫੜਿਆ।
29 And it was told King Solomon—Joab hath fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and, there he is, beside the altar. So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying—Go fall upon him!
੨੯ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਯੋਆਬ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਉਹ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਪਓ।
30 And Benaiah came into the Tent of Yahweh, and said unto him—Thus, saith the king, Come forth! And he said—Nay! but, here, will I die! So Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus, spake Joab, and, thus, he answered me.
੩੦ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਆ। ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਮਰਾਂਗਾ। ਫੇਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਲਈ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯੋਆਬ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
31 And the king said to him—Do as he hath spoken, fall, then, upon him, and bury him, —and so put away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;
੩੧ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਪਓ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬ ਦੇਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੇਦੋਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਵਹਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ।
32 thus will Yahweh bring back his blood upon his own head, in that he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing it, —even Abner son of Ner, general of the army of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, general of the army of Judah;
੩੨ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਪਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨੇਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਨੇਰ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਥਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ।
33 thus shall their blood come back upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed unto times age-abiding, —but, David and his seed, and his house, and his throne, shall have peace, unto times age-abiding, from Yahweh.
੩੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਰਹੇ, ਪਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਤੇ, ਉਹ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ ਉੱਤੇ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
34 So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and put him to death, —and he was buried in his own house, in the wilderness.
੩੪ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਉਤਾਹਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
35 And the king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada, in his stead, over the army, —and, Zadok the priest, did the king put in the stead of Abiathar.
੩੫ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਦੋਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਦਾ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
36 And the king sent, and called for Shimei, and said to him—Build thee a house, in Jerusalem, so shalt thou dwell there, —and shalt not go forth from thence, hither or thither;
੩੬ਫੇਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਈਂ।
37 but it shall be that, on the day thou goest forth, and passest over the Kidron ravine, know, that thou shalt, die, —thy blood, shall be, upon thine own head.
੩੭ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਕਿਦਰੋਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਘੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
38 And Shimei said to the king—Good, is the word, as my lord the king hath spoken, so, will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
੩੮ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸੱਚ ਬਚਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।
39 But it came to pass, at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei fled unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath, —and they told Shimei, saying—Lo! thy servants are in Gath.
੩੯ਤੀਜੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ ਗਥ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਅਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ, ਤਦ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਵੇਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਗਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
40 So Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants—and Shimei went and brought in his servants, from Gath.
੪੦ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਧੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਠੀ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੋਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਥ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਇਆ।
41 And it was told Solomon—Shimei hath been out of Jerusalem to Gath, and returned.
੪੧ਤਦ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗਥ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ।
42 Then sent the king and called for Shimei, and said unto him—Did I not put thee on oath by Yahweh, and adjure thee, saying—On the day thou goest forth and takest thy journey hither or thither, know, that thou shalt, die. Then saidst thou unto me—Good, is the word I have heard.
੪੨ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਵਾਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ? ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੱਚ ਬਚਨ। ਮੈਂ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
43 Why then, hast thou not kept the oath of Yahweh, —and the charge which I laid upon thee?
੪੩ਫੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹੁਕਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਚੱਲਿਆ?
44 Then said the king unto Shimei—Thou, knowest all the wickedness which thy heart is privy to, which thou didst unto David my father, —therefore shall Yahweh bring back thy wickedness, upon thine own head.
੪੪ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ।
45 But, King Solomon, shall be blessed, —and, the throne of David, shall be established before Yahweh, unto times age-abiding.
੪੫ਪਰ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
46 So the king charged Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell upon him, that he died, —and, the kingdom, was established in the hand of Solomon.
੪੬ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ, ਸੋ ਰਾਜ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
