1 Kings 2
1 And, when the days of David drew near that he must die, he charged Solomon his son, saying: —
Επλησίασαν δε αι ημέραι του Δαβίδ να αποθάνη· και παρήγγειλε προς τον Σολομώντα τον υιόν αυτού, λέγων,
2 I, am going the way of all the earth, —thou must be strong, therefore, and show thyself a man;
Εγώ υπάγω την οδόν πάσης της γής· συ δε ίσχυε και έσο ανήρ·
3 and keep the observances of Yahweh thy God, by walking in his ways, by keeping his statutes, his commandments, and his regulations and his testimonies, as written in the law of Moses, —to the end thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself;
και φύλαττε τας εντολάς Κυρίου του Θεού σου, περιπατών εις τας οδούς αυτού, φυλάττων τα διατάγματα αυτού, τα προστάγματα αυτού και τας κρίσεις αυτού και τα μαρτύρια αυτού, ως είναι γεγραμμένον εν τω νόμω του Μωϋσέως, διά να ευημερής εις πάντα όσα πράττεις και πανταχού όπου αν στραφής·
4 to the end that Yahweh may establish his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy sons will take heed to their way, by walking before me, in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, (then, said he) there shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
διά να στηρίξη ο Κύριος τον λόγον αυτού, τον οποίον ελάλησε περί εμού, λέγων, Εάν οι υιοί σου προσέχωσιν εις την οδόν αυτών ώστε να περιπατώσιν ενώπιόν μου εν αληθεία, εξ όλης της καρδίας αυτών και εξ όλης της ψυχής αυτών, βεβαίως δεν θέλει εκλείψει εις σε ανήρ επάνωθεν του θρόνου του Ισραήλ.
5 Moreover also, thou, knowest what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with two generals of the armies of Israel—with Abner son of Ner, and with Amasa son of Jether—both of whom he slew, shedding the blood of war in peace, —and putting the blood of war upon his girdle that was on his loins, and upon his sandals, that were on his feet.
Και έτι συ εξεύρεις όσα έκαμεν εις εμέ Ιωάβ ο υιός της Σερουΐας, τι έκαμεν εις τους δύο αρχηγούς των στρατευμάτων του Ισραήλ, εις τον Αβενήρ τον υιόν του Νηρ, και εις τον Αμασά τον υιόν του Ιεθέρ, τους οποίους εφόνευσε, και έχυσε το αίμα του πολέμου εν ειρήνη και έβαλε το αίμα του πολέμου εις την ζώνην αυτού, την περί την οσφύν αυτού, και εις τα υποδήματα αυτού τα εις τους πόδας αυτού.
6 Thou, therefore, must do according to thy wisdom, —but will not let his grey hair go down in peace, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
Κάμε λοιπόν κατά την σοφίαν σου, και η πολιά αυτού ας μη καταβή εις τον άδην εν ειρήνη. (Sheol h7585)
7 But, with the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, thou wilt deal in lovingkindness, and they will be among them who eat at thy table, —for, so, drew they near unto me, when I fled from Absolom thy brother.
Προς τους υιούς όμως του Βαρζελλαΐ του Γαλααδίτου κάμε έλεος, και ας ήναι εκ των εσθιόντων επί της τραπέζης σου· διότι ούτως επλησίασαν προς εμέ, ότε έφευγον από προσώπου του Αβεσσαλώμ του αδελφού σου.
8 Lo! also, there is with thee—Shimei son of Gera a Benjamite, of Behurim, well, he, it was who cursed me with a grievous curse; on the day I journeyed to Mahanaim, —but he, came down to meet me, at the Jordan, and so I sware to him by Yahweh, saying—I will not put thee to death, with the sword.
Και ιδού, μετά σου Σιμεΐ ο υιός του Γηρά, ο Βενιαμίτης, από Βαουρείμ, όστις με κατηράσθη κατάραν οδυνηράν καθ' ην ημέραν επορευόμην εις Μαχαναΐμ· κατέβη όμως προς απάντησίν μου εις τον Ιορδάνην, και ώμοσα προς αυτόν εις τον Κύριον, λέγων, Δεν θέλω σε θανατώσει διά ρομφαίας.
9 Now, therefore do not hold him guiltless, for, a wise man, thou art, and wilt know how thou oughtest to deal with him, and wilt suffer his grey hairs to go down with blood, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
Τώρα λοιπόν μη αθωώσης αυτόν· διότι είσαι ανήρ σοφός και εξεύρεις τι πρέπει να κάμης εις αυτόν, και να καταβιβάσης την πολιάν αυτού με αίμα εις τον άδην. (Sheol h7585)
10 So then David slept with his fathers, —and was buried in the city of David.
Και εκοιμήθη ο Δαβίδ μετά των πατέρων αυτού και ετάφη εν τη πόλει Δαβίδ.
11 Now, the days that David reigned over Israel, were forty years, —in Hebron, reigned he seven years, and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years.
Αι ημέραι δε, τας οποίας εβασίλευσεν ο Δαβίδ επί τον Ισραήλ, έγειναν τεσσαράκοντα έτη· επτά έτη εβασίλευσεν εν Χεβρών και τριάκοντα τρία εβασίλευσεν εν Ιερουσαλήμ.
12 But, when, Solomon, took his seat upon the throne of David his father, then was the kingdom firmly established.
Και εκάθησεν ο Σολομών επί του θρόνου Δαβίδ του πατρός αυτού· και εστερεώθη η βασιλεία αυτού σφόδρα.
13 And Adonijah son of Haggith came in unto Bath-sheba, mother of Solomon: And she said—Peaceably, comest thou? And he said—Peaceably.
Αδωνίας δε ο υιός της Αγγείθ ήλθε προς την Βηθ-σαβεέ, την μητέρα του Σολομώντος. Η δε είπεν, Έρχεσαι εν ειρήνη; Και είπεν, Εν ειρήνη.
14 Then said he—I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said—Say on.
Έπειτα είπεν, Έχω λόγον τινά να είπω προς σε. Η δε είπε, Λάλησον.
15 And he said—Thou, knowest that, mine, was the kingdom, and, on me, had all Israel set their faces, that I should become king, —howbeit the kingdom, hath turned about, and become my brother’s, for, from Yahweh, became it, his.
Και είπε, Συ εξεύρεις ότι εις εμέ ανήκεν η βασιλεία και εις εμέ είχε στήσει πας ο Ισραήλ το πρόσωπον αυτού, διά να βασιλεύσω· η βασιλεία όμως εστράφη και έγεινε του αδελφού μου· διότι παρά Κυρίου έγεινεν εις αυτόν·
16 Now, therefore, one request, have I to ask of thee, do not turn away my face.
τώρα λοιπόν ζητώ μίαν αίτησιν παρά σού· μη αρνηθής ταύτην εις εμέ. Η δε είπε προς αυτόν, Λάλει.
17 And she said unto him—Say on. And he said—Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, for he will not turn away thy face, —that he give me Abishag the Shunammite, to wife.
Και είπεν, Ειπέ, παρακαλώ, προς τον Σολομώντα τον βασιλέα, διότι δεν θέλει σοι αρνηθή τούτο, να δώση εις εμέ την Αβισάγ την Σουναμίτιν διά γυναίκα.
18 And Bath-sheba said: Good! I myself, will speak for thee, unto the king.
Και είπεν η Βηθ-σαβεέ, Καλώς· εγώ θέλω λαλήσει περί σου προς τον βασιλέα.
19 So Bath-sheba went in unto King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah, —and the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself down to her, and sat down upon his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.
Και εισήλθεν η Βηθ-σαβεέ προς τον βασιλέα Σολομώντα, διά να λαλήση προς αυτόν περί του Αδωνίου. Και εσηκώθη ο βασιλεύς εις απάντησιν αυτής και προσεκύνησεν αυτήν· έπειτα εκάθησεν επί τον θρόνον αυτού, και ετέθη θρόνος εις την μητέρα του βασιλέως· και εκάθησεν εις τα δεξιά αυτού.
20 Then said she—One small request, am I asking of thee, do not turn away my face. And the king said to her—Ask on, my mother, for I will not turn away thy face.
Και είπε, Μίαν μικράν αίτησιν ζητώ παρά σού· μη αρνηθής ταύτην εις εμέ. Και είπε προς αυτήν ο βασιλεύς, Ζήτησον, μήτηρ μου· διότι δεν θέλω σοι αρνηθή.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother, to wife.
Η δε είπεν, Ας δοθή η Αβισάγ η Σουναμίτις εις τον Αδωνίαν τον αδελφόν σου διά γυναίκα.
22 Then answered King Solomon, and said to his mother—Wherefore, then, art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite, for Adonijah? ask, then, for him the kingdom, because he is mine elder brother, —even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab, son of Zeruiah.
Και αποκριθείς ο βασιλεύς Σολομών είπε προς την μητέρα αυτού, Και διά τι συ ζητείς την Αβισάγ την Σουναμίτιν διά τον Αδωνίαν; ζήτησον δι' αυτόν και την βασιλείαν, διότι είναι μεγαλήτερός μου αδελφός· και δι' αυτόν και διά τον Αβιάθαρ τον ιερέα και διά τον Ιωάβ τον υιόν της Σερουΐας.
23 Then swore King Solomon by Yahweh, saying, —So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, if, at the cost of his life, Adonijah hath not spoken this word.
Και ώμοσεν ο βασιλεύς Σολομών προς τον Κύριον, λέγων, Ούτω να κάμη ο Θεός εις εμέ και ούτω να προσθέση, εάν ο Αδωνίας δεν ελάλησε τον λόγον τούτον κατά της ζωής αυτού·
24 Now, therefore, by the life of Yahweh, who hath established me, and seated me upon the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me a household, as he had spoken, surely, to-day, shall Adonijah be put to death!
και τώρα, ζη Κύριος, όστις με εστερέωσε και με εκάθισεν επί του θρόνου Δαβίδ του πατρός μου, και όστις έκαμεν εις εμέ οίκον, καθώς υπεσχέθη, σήμερον θέλει θανατωθή ο Αδωνίας.
25 So King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, —and he fell upon him, that he died.
Και εξαπέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς Σολομών διά χειρός του Βεναΐα, υιού του Ιωδαέ, και έπεσεν επ' αυτόν και απέθανε.
26 Also, unto Abiathar the priest, said the king—To Anathoth, get thee unto thine own fields, for, death-doomed, thou art, —but, this day, will I not put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of My Lord, Yahweh, before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
Προς δε τον Αβιάθαρ τον ιερέα είπεν ο βασιλεύς, Εις Αναθώθ ύπαγε, εις τους αγρούς σου· διότι είσαι άξιος θανάτου· αλλά την ημέραν ταύτην δεν θέλω σε θανατώσει, επειδή εσήκωσας την κιβωτόν Κυρίου του Θεού έμπροσθεν Δαβίδ του πατρός μου και επειδή εκακοπάθησας εις πάντα όσα εκακοπάθησεν ο πατήρ μου.
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Yahweh, —to fulfil the word of Yahweh which he spake concerning the household of Eli, in Shiloh.
Και απέβαλεν ο Σολομών τον Αβιάθαρ από του να ήναι ιερεύς του Κυρίου· διά να πληρωθή ο λόγος του Κυρίου, τον οποίον ελάλησε περί του οίκου του Ηλεί εν Σηλώ.
28 And, the report, came unto Joab, for, Joab, had inclined after Adonijah, although, after Solomon, he had not inclined, —so then Joab fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and laid hold of the horns of the altar.
Και η φήμη ήλθε μέχρι του Ιωάβ· διότι ο Ιωάβ έκλινεν οπίσω του Αδωνίου, αν και δεν έκλινεν οπίσω του Αβεσσαλώμ. Και έφυγεν ο Ιωάβ εις την σκηνήν του Κυρίου και επιάσθη από των κεράτων του θυσιαστηρίου.
29 And it was told King Solomon—Joab hath fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and, there he is, beside the altar. So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying—Go fall upon him!
Και απηγγέλθη προς τον βασιλέα Σολομώντα, Ότι ο Ιωάβ έφυγεν εις την σκηνήν του Κυρίου· και ιδού, είναι πλησίον του θυσιαστηρίου. Τότε απέστειλεν ο Σολομών Βεναΐαν τον υιόν του Ιωδαέ, λέγων, Ύπαγε, πέσον επ' αυτόν.
30 And Benaiah came into the Tent of Yahweh, and said unto him—Thus, saith the king, Come forth! And he said—Nay! but, here, will I die! So Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus, spake Joab, and, thus, he answered me.
Και ήλθεν ο Βεναΐας εις την σκηνήν του Κυρίου και είπε προς αυτόν, ούτω λέγει ο βασιλεύς· Έξελθε. Ο δε είπεν, Ουχί, αλλ' ενταύθα θέλω αποθάνει. Και ανέφερεν ο Βεναΐας απόκρισιν προς τον βασιλέα, λέγων, Ούτως είπεν ο Ιωάβ και ούτω μοι απεκρίθη.
31 And the king said to him—Do as he hath spoken, fall, then, upon him, and bury him, —and so put away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;
Ο δε βασιλεύς είπε προς αυτόν, Κάμε ως είπε, και πέσον επ' αυτόν και θάψον αυτόν· διά να εξαλείψης το αθώον αίμα, το οποίον έχυσεν ο Ιωάβ, απ' εμού και από του οίκου του πατρός μου·
32 thus will Yahweh bring back his blood upon his own head, in that he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing it, —even Abner son of Ner, general of the army of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, general of the army of Judah;
και ο Κύριος θέλει στρέψει το αίμα αυτού κατά της κεφαλής αυτού, όστις έπεσεν επί δύο άνδρας δικαιοτέρους και καλητέρους παρ' αυτόν, και εθανάτωσεν αυτούς διά ρομφαίας, μη ειδότος του πατρός μου Δαβίδ, τον Αβενήρ τον υιόν του Νηρ, τον αρχιστράτηγον του Ισραήλ, και τον Αμασά τον υιόν του Ιεθέρ, τον αρχιστράτηγον του Ιούδα·
33 thus shall their blood come back upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed unto times age-abiding, —but, David and his seed, and his house, and his throne, shall have peace, unto times age-abiding, from Yahweh.
και θέλουσιν επιστρέψει τα αίματα αυτών κατά της κεφαλής του Ιωάβ και κατά της κεφαλής του σπέρματος αυτού, εις τον αιώνα· επί δε τον Δαβίδ και επί το σπέρμα αυτού και επί τον οίκον αυτού και επί τον θρόνον αυτού θέλει είσθαι ειρήνη παρά Κυρίου έως αιώνος.
34 So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and put him to death, —and he was buried in his own house, in the wilderness.
Τότε ανέβη Βεναΐας ο υιός του Ιωδαέ, και έπεσεν επ' αυτόν και εθανάτωσεν αυτόν· και ετάφη εν τω οίκω αυτού εν τη ερήμω.
35 And the king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada, in his stead, over the army, —and, Zadok the priest, did the king put in the stead of Abiathar.
Και κατέστησεν ο βασιλεύς αντ' αυτού Βεναΐαν τον υιόν του Ιωδαέ επί του στρατεύματος· και Σαδώκ τον ιερέα κατέστησεν ο βασιλεύς αντί του Αβιάθαρ.
36 And the king sent, and called for Shimei, and said to him—Build thee a house, in Jerusalem, so shalt thou dwell there, —and shalt not go forth from thence, hither or thither;
Και αποστείλας ο βασιλεύς εκάλεσε τον Σιμεΐ και είπε προς αυτόν, Οικοδόμησον εις σεαυτόν οίκον εν Ιερουσαλήμ και κατοίκει εκεί, και μη εξέλθης εκείθεν εις ουδέν μέρος·
37 but it shall be that, on the day thou goest forth, and passest over the Kidron ravine, know, that thou shalt, die, —thy blood, shall be, upon thine own head.
διότι καθ' ην ημέραν εξέλθης και περάσης τον χείμαρρον Κέδρων, έξευρε βεβαίως ότι εξάπαντος θέλεις θανατωθή· το αίμα σου θέλει είσθαι επί την κεφαλήν σου.
38 And Shimei said to the king—Good, is the word, as my lord the king hath spoken, so, will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
Και είπεν ο Σιμεΐ προς τον βασιλέα, Καλός ο λόγος· καθώς είπεν ο κύριός μου ο βασιλεύς, ούτω θέλει κάμει ο δούλός σου. Και εκάθησεν ο Σιμεΐ εν Ιερουσαλήμ ημέρας πολλάς.
39 But it came to pass, at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei fled unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath, —and they told Shimei, saying—Lo! thy servants are in Gath.
Και μετά τρία έτη, δύο εκ των δούλων του Σιμεΐ εδραπέτευσαν προς τον Αγχούς, υιόν του Μααχά, τον βασιλέα της Γάθ· και ανήγγειλαν προς τον Σιμεΐ, λέγοντες, Ιδού, οι δούλοί σου είναι εν Γαθ.
40 So Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants—and Shimei went and brought in his servants, from Gath.
Και ο Σιμεΐ εσηκώθη και έστρωσε την όνον αυτού και υπήγεν εις Γαθ προς τον Αγχούς, διά να ζητήση τους δούλους αυτού· και υπήγεν ο Σιμεΐ και έφερε τους δούλους αυτού από Γαθ.
41 And it was told Solomon—Shimei hath been out of Jerusalem to Gath, and returned.
Και απηγγέλθη προς τον Σολομώντα, ότι ο Σιμεΐ υπήγεν από Ιερουσαλήμ εις Γαθ και επέστρεψε.
42 Then sent the king and called for Shimei, and said unto him—Did I not put thee on oath by Yahweh, and adjure thee, saying—On the day thou goest forth and takest thy journey hither or thither, know, that thou shalt, die. Then saidst thou unto me—Good, is the word I have heard.
Και αποστείλας ο βασιλεύς εκάλεσε τον Σιμεΐ και είπε προς αυτόν, Δεν σε ώρκισα εις τον Κύριον και διεμαρτυρήθην προς σε, λέγων, Έξευρε βεβαίως, ότι καθ' ην ημέραν εξέλθης και περιπατήσης έξω οπουδήποτε, εξάπαντος θέλεις αποθάνει; και συ μοι είπας, Καλός ο λόγος, τον οποίον ήκουσα·
43 Why then, hast thou not kept the oath of Yahweh, —and the charge which I laid upon thee?
διά τι λοιπόν δεν εφύλαξας τον όρκον του Κυρίου και την προσταγήν, την οποίαν προσέταξα εις σε;
44 Then said the king unto Shimei—Thou, knowest all the wickedness which thy heart is privy to, which thou didst unto David my father, —therefore shall Yahweh bring back thy wickedness, upon thine own head.
Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς τον Σιμεΐ, Συ εξεύρεις όλην την κακίαν, την οποίαν γνωρίζει η καρδία σου, τι έπραξας εις τον Δαβίδ τον πατέρα μου· διά τούτο ο Κύριος έστρεψε την κακίαν σου κατά της κεφαλής σου·
45 But, King Solomon, shall be blessed, —and, the throne of David, shall be established before Yahweh, unto times age-abiding.
ο δε βασιλεύς Σολομών θέλει είσθαι ευλογημένος, και ο θρόνος του Δαβίδ εστερεωμένος ενώπιον του Κυρίου έως αιώνος.
46 So the king charged Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell upon him, that he died, —and, the kingdom, was established in the hand of Solomon.
Τότε ο βασιλεύς προσέταξε Βεναΐαν τον υιόν του Ιωδαέ, όστις εξελθών έπεσεν επ' αυτόν, και απέθανε. Και η βασιλεία εστερεώθη εν τη χειρί του Σολομώντος.
