1 Kings 17
1 Then said Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, unto Ahab, By the life of Yahweh, God of Israel, before whom I stand, there shall not, these two years, be either dew or rain, —save at the bidding of my word.
౧గిలాదు ప్రాంతంలోని తిష్బీ గ్రామం వాడైన ఏలీయా అహాబుతో “ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజల దేవుడైన యెహోవా ప్రాణం తోడు, నేను ఆయన ఎదుట నిలబడి చెబుతున్నాను. నేను మళ్ళీ చెప్పే వరకూ, రాబోయే కొన్నేళ్ళు మంచు గానీ వాన గానీ పడదు” అన్నాడు.
2 Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying:
౨ఆ తరువాత యెహోవా అతనితో ఇలా చెప్పాడు.
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, —and hide thyself in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan;
౩“నీవు ఇక్కడ నుంచి తూర్పు వైపుగా వెళ్లి యొర్దానుకు ఎదురుగా ఉన్న కెరీతు వాగు దగ్గర దాక్కో.
4 and it shall be that, of the torrent, shalt thou drink, —and, the ravens, have I commanded to sustain thee, there.
౪ఆ వాగు నీళ్ళు నీవు తాగాలి. అక్కడ నీకు ఆహారం తెచ్చేలా నేను కాకులకు ఆజ్ఞాపించాను” అని అతనికి చెప్పాడు.
5 So he went and did, according to the word of Yahweh, —yea he went and dwelt in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan.
౫అతడు వెళ్లి యెహోవా చెప్పినట్టు యొర్దానుకు ఎదురుగా ఉన్న కెరీతు వాగు దగ్గర నివసించాడు.
6 And, the ravens, used to bring him bread and flesh, in the morning, and bread and flesh, in the evening, —and, of the torrent, used he to drink.
౬అక్కడ కాకులు ఉదయమూ సాయంత్రమూ రొట్టె, మాంసాలను అతని దగ్గరికి తెచ్చేవి. అతడు వాగు నీళ్ళు తాగాడు.
7 But it came to pass, at the end of [certain] days, that the torrent dried up, —because there had been no rain in the land.
౭కొంతకాలమైన తరువాత దేశంలో వాన కురవక ఆ వాగు ఎండిపోయింది.
8 Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying—
౮యెహోవా అతనితో ఇలా చెప్పాడు. “నీవు సీదోను ప్రాంతంలోని సారెపతు అనే ఊరికి వెళ్లి అక్కడ ఉండు.
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there, —Lo! I have commanded, there, a widow woman, to sustain thee.
౯నిన్ను పోషించడానికి అక్కడ ఉన్న ఒక విధవరాలికి నేను ఆజ్ఞాపించాను.”
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath, and, when he came to the entrance of the city, lo! there, a widow woman gathering sticks, —and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
౧౦కాబట్టి అతడు సారెపతు పట్టణ ద్వారం దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళి ఒక విధవరాలు అక్కడ కట్టెలు ఏరుకోవడం చూసి ఆమెను పిలిచాడు. “తాగడానికి గిన్నెలో కొంచెం మంచినీళ్ళు తెస్తావా?” అని అడిగాడు.
11 And, as she went to fetch it, he called to her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread, in thy hand.
౧౧ఆమె నీళ్లు తేబోతుంటే అతడామెను మళ్ళీ పిలిచి “నీ చేత్తో నాకొక రొట్టె ముక్క తీసుకు రా” అన్నాడు.
12 And she said—By the life of Yahweh, thy God, verily I have not a cake, only a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse, —and lo! I have been gathering a couple of sticks, so I shall go in and make it ready for me and for my son, that we may eat it—and die!
౧౨అందుకామె “నీ దేవుడు యెహోవా జీవం తోడు. గిన్నెలో కొద్దిగా పిండి, సీసాలో కొంచెం నూనె మాత్రం నా దగ్గర ఉన్నాయి. ఒక్క రొట్టె కూడా లేదు. చావబోయే ముందు నేను ఇంటికి వెళ్లి నాకూ నా కొడుక్కీ ఒక రొట్టె తయారు చేసుకుని తిని ఆపైన ఆకలితో చచ్చి పోవాలని, కొన్ని కట్టెపుల్లలు ఏరుకోడానికి వచ్చాను” అంది.
13 And Elijah said unto her—Do not fear, go in—make ready according to thy word, —howbeit, make me thereof a little cake, first, and bring it out to me, and, for thyself and thy son, make ready, afterwards.
౧౩అప్పుడు ఏలీయా ఆమెతో అన్నాడు. “భయపడవద్దు, వెళ్లి నీవు చెప్పినట్టే చెయ్యి. అయితే అందులో ముందుగా నాకొక చిన్న రొట్టె చేసి, నా దగ్గరికి తీసుకురా. తరువాత నీకూ నీ కొడుక్కీ రొట్టెలు చేసుకో.
14 For, thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, The jar of meal, shall not waste, and, the cruse of oil, shall not fail, —until the day that Yahweh giveth rain upon the face of the ground.
౧౪భూమి మీద యెహోవా వాన కురిపించే వరకూ ఆ గిన్నెలో ఉన్న పిండి తగ్గదు, సీసాలో నూనె అయిపోదని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడు యెహోవా చెప్పాడు.”
15 So she went and made ready, according to the word of Elijah, —and did eat, she, and he, and her house, [certain] days:
౧౫అప్పుడు ఆమె వెళ్లి ఏలీయా చెప్పిన మాట ప్రకారం చేసింది. అతడూ, ఆమె, ఆమె కొడుకు చాలా రోజులు భోజనం చేస్తూ వచ్చారు.
16 The jar of meal, did not waste, —and, the cruse of oil, did not fail, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through Elijah.
౧౬యెహోవా ఏలీయా ద్వారా చెప్పినట్టు, గిన్నెలోని పిండి తక్కువ కాలేదు, సీసాలోని నూనె అయిపోలేదు.
17 And it came to pass, after these things, that the son of the woman, owner of the house, fell sick, —yea it came to pass that his sickness was very severe, until no, breath, was left in him.
౧౭కొంతకాలం తరువాత ఆ వితంతువు కొడుక్కి జబ్బు చేసింది. జబ్బు ముదిరి, అతడు చనిపోయాడు.
18 Then said she unto Elijah, What have I in common with thee, O man of God? Hast thou come unto me, to call to remembrance mine iniquity, and to cause the death of my son?
౧౮ఆమె ఏలీయాతో “దేవుని మనిషీ, మీరు నా దగ్గరికి రావడం దేనికి? నా పాపాన్ని నాకు గుర్తు చేసి నా కొడుకుని చంపడానికా?” అంది.
19 And he said unto her—Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him unto the upper room, where, he, was staying, and laid him upon his own bed.
౧౯అతడు “నీ కొడుకును ఇలా తీసుకురా” అని చెప్పాడు. ఆమె చేతుల్లో నుంచి వాణ్ణి తీసుకు తానున్న పై అంతస్తు గదిలోకి వెళ్లి తన మంచం మీద వాణ్ణి పడుకోబెట్టాడు.
20 Then cried he unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Even upon the widow with whom I am sojourning, hast thou brought misfortune by causing the death of her son?
౨౦“యెహోవా నా దేవా, నన్ను చేర్చుకున్న ఈ విధవరాలి కొడుకుని చనిపోయేలా చేసి నీవు కూడా ఆమె మీదికి కీడు తెచ్చావా?” అని యెహోవాకు మొర్రపెట్టాడు.
21 And he stretched himself out upon the boy, three times, and cried unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Let the life of this boy, I pray thee, come again within him.
౨౧ఆ బాలుడి మీద మూడుసార్లు బోర్లా పండుకుని “యెహోవా నా దేవా, నా మొర్ర ఆలకించి ఈ బాలుడికి మళ్ళీ ప్రాణం ఇవ్వు” అని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థించాడు.
22 And Yahweh hearkened unto the voice of Elijah, —and the life of the boy came again within him, and he lived.
౨౨యెహోవా ఏలీయా చేసిన ప్రార్థన ఆలకించి ఆ బాలుడికి ప్రాణం పోశాడు. వాడు బతికాడు.
23 Then Elijah took the boy, and carried him down out of the upper room, into the house, and gave him to his mother, —and Elijah said, See! thy son liveth.
౨౩ఏలీయా ఆ అబ్బాయిని ఎత్తుకుని గదిలోనుంచి దిగి ఇంట్లోకి తీసుకు వచ్చి వాడి తల్లికి అప్పగించి “చూడు, నీ కొడుకు బతికే ఉన్నాడు” అని చెప్పాడు.
24 And the woman said unto Elijah, Now, then I know, that, a man of God, thou art, —and that, the word of Yahweh, is in thy mouth, of a truth.
౨౪ఆ స్త్రీ ఏలీయాతో “నీవు దైవసేవకుడివని, నీవు పలుకుతున్న యెహోవా మాట వాస్తవమని దీని వల్ల నాకు తెలిసింది” అంది.
