1 Kings 17
1 Then said Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, unto Ahab, By the life of Yahweh, God of Israel, before whom I stand, there shall not, these two years, be either dew or rain, —save at the bidding of my word.
੧ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਤਿਸ਼ਬੀ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ ਅਹਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੈਂ ਖੜਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਪਵੇਗੀ ਨਾ ਮੀਂਹ।
2 Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying:
੨ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, —and hide thyself in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan;
੩ਐਥੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁਹਾਣਾ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਫੇਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਰੀਥ ਦੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੈ ਲੁਕਾ ਲੈ।
4 and it shall be that, of the torrent, shalt thou drink, —and, the ravens, have I commanded to sustain thee, there.
੪ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪੀਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਕਾਂਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਣ।
5 So he went and did, according to the word of Yahweh, —yea he went and dwelt in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan.
੫ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਚੱਲ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਕਰੀਥ ਦੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੈ।
6 And, the ravens, used to bring him bread and flesh, in the morning, and bread and flesh, in the evening, —and, of the torrent, used he to drink.
੬ਤਾਂ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਕਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਰੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
7 But it came to pass, at the end of [certain] days, that the torrent dried up, —because there had been no rain in the land.
੭ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਥੋੜੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਨਾਲਾ ਸੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਂਹ ਨਾ ਪਿਆ।
8 Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying—
੮ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਬਚਨ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ।
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there, —Lo! I have commanded, there, a widow woman, to sustain thee.
੯ਕਿ ਉੱਠ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਦੋਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰਫਥ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਟਿੱਕ। ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰੇ।
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath, and, when he came to the entrance of the city, lo! there, a widow woman gathering sticks, —and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
੧੦ਸੋ ਉਹ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਫਥ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਲੱਕੜੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਗਦੀ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜ਼ਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਲਿਆ ਦੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪੀ ਲਵਾਂ।
11 And, as she went to fetch it, he called to her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread, in thy hand.
੧੧ਜਦ ਉਹ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਚੱਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜ਼ਰਾ ਇੱਕ ਚੱਪਾ ਟੁੱਕੜਾ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਆਵੀਂ।
12 And she said—By the life of Yahweh, thy God, verily I have not a cake, only a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse, —and lo! I have been gathering a couple of sticks, so I shall go in and make it ready for me and for my son, that we may eat it—and die!
੧੨ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਰਿੱਧਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਤੌਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੱਠ ਆਟੇ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਤੇਲ ਇੱਕ ਕੁੱਜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਦੋ ਕੁ ਲੱਕੜੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਗ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਘਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਪਕਾਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਮਰੀਏ।
13 And Elijah said unto her—Do not fear, go in—make ready according to thy word, —howbeit, make me thereof a little cake, first, and bring it out to me, and, for thyself and thy son, make ready, afterwards.
੧੩ਤਾਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਨਾ ਡਰ। ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰ ਪਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੱਨੀ ਪਕਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਪਕਾਈਂ।
14 For, thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, The jar of meal, shall not waste, and, the cruse of oil, shall not fail, —until the day that Yahweh giveth rain upon the face of the ground.
੧੪ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਾ ਤੌਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਟਾ ਮੁੱਕੇਗਾ ਨਾ ਕੁੱਜੀ ਦਾ ਤੇਲ ਘਟੇਗਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਨਾ ਪਾਵੇ।
15 So she went and made ready, according to the word of Elijah, —and did eat, she, and he, and her house, [certain] days:
੧੫ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਖਣ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਫੇਰ ਇਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਕਈ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
16 The jar of meal, did not waste, —and, the cruse of oil, did not fail, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through Elijah.
੧੬ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੌਲੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਟਾ ਮੁੱਕਿਆ ਨਾ ਕੁੱਜੀ ਦਾ ਤੇਲ ਘਟਿਆ। ਇਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਸੀ।
17 And it came to pass, after these things, that the son of the woman, owner of the house, fell sick, —yea it came to pass that his sickness was very severe, until no, breath, was left in him.
੧੭ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸੀ ਐਥੋਂ ਤੋੜੀ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ।
18 Then said she unto Elijah, What have I in common with thee, O man of God? Hast thou come unto me, to call to remembrance mine iniquity, and to cause the death of my son?
੧੮ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ? ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਾਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟੇਂ?
19 And he said unto her—Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him unto the upper room, where, he, was staying, and laid him upon his own bed.
੧੯ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਆਪਣਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿੱਕ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੁਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਟਾ ਲਿਆ।
20 Then cried he unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Even upon the widow with whom I am sojourning, hast thou brought misfortune by causing the death of her son?
੨੦ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਮੈਂ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
21 And he stretched himself out upon the boy, three times, and cried unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Let the life of this boy, I pray thee, come again within him.
੨੧ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿੰਨਤ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਫੇਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਣ।
22 And Yahweh hearkened unto the voice of Elijah, —and the life of the boy came again within him, and he lived.
੨੨ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੇਰ ਆ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੀ ਉੱਠਿਆ।
23 Then Elijah took the boy, and carried him down out of the upper room, into the house, and gave him to his mother, —and Elijah said, See! thy son liveth.
੨੩ਤਾਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਚੁਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ!
24 And the woman said unto Elijah, Now, then I know, that, a man of God, thou art, —and that, the word of Yahweh, is in thy mouth, of a truth.
੨੪ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
