< 1 Kings 15 >
1 Now, in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, began Abijah to reign over Judah.
Yeroboam dii adeɛ wɔ Israel ne mfeɛ dunwɔtwe soɔ no, Abiyam hyɛɛ nʼadedie ase sɛ ɔhene wɔ Yuda.
2 Three years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.
Ɔdii ɔhene wɔ Yerusalem mfeɛ mmiɛnsa. Na ne maame din de Maaka a ɔyɛ Absalom babaa.
3 And he walked in all the sins of his father which he had done before him, —and his heart was not blameless with Yahweh his God, like the heart of David his father.
Nʼagya bɔne a ɔyɛeɛ nyinaa no, ɔyɛɛ bi. Na nʼakoma nni Awurade ne Onyankopɔn mu, sɛdeɛ ne nana Dawid yɛeɛ no.
4 But, for the sake of David, did Yahweh his God give him a lamp, in Jerusalem, —by raising up a son of his after him, and by suffering Jerusalem to stand;
Nanso, ɛsiane Dawid enti, Awurade, ne Onyankopɔn maa nʼasefoɔ kwan ma wɔkɔɔ so dii adeɛ, na ɔmaa Abiyam ɔbabarima a ɔbɛdi nʼadeɛ wɔ Yerusalem.
5 because David did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him, all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
Na Dawid ayɛ deɛ ɛyɛ wɔ Awurade ani so. Ɔdii Awurade ahyɛdeɛ so ne nkwa nna nyinaa, agye Hetini Uria no ho asɛm no nko ara.
6 And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, all the days of his life.
Abiyam nkwa nna mu nyinaa, na akokoakoko da ɔno ne Yeroboam ntam.
7 Now, the rest of the story of Abijah and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was, war, between Abijah and Jeroboam.
Nsɛm a aka a ɛsisii wɔ Abiyam ahennie mu ne deɛ ɔyɛeɛ no, wɔatwerɛ wɔ Yuda Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nwoma no mu. Ɔko daa Abia ne Yeroboam ntam ɛberɛ biara.
8 So then Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, —and, Asa his son, reigned, in his stead.
Na Abiyam wuiɛ no, wɔsiee no Dawid kuropɔn mu. Na ne babarima Asa dii nʼadeɛ sɛ ɔhene.
9 Now, in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, began Asa to reign as king of Judah;
Yeroboam dii ɔhene wɔ Israel ne mfeɛ aduonu so no, Asa bɛdii ɔhene wɔ Yuda.
10 and, forty-one years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.
Ɔdii ɔhene Yerusalem mfeɛ aduanan baako. Na wɔfrɛ ne nanabaa Maaka a na ɔyɛ Absalom babaa.
11 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —like David his father;
Asa yɛɛ deɛ ɛsɔ Awurade ani, sɛdeɛ ne nana Dawid yɛeɛ no.
12 and he put away the male devotees out of the land, —and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
Ɔpamoo asɔreeɛ so nnwamanfoɔ nyinaa firii asase no so, na ɔyiyii ahoni a nʼagyanom yɛeɛ no nyinaa.
13 Moreover also, even Maachah his mother, he removed from being queen, because she had made a monstrous thing to the Sacred Stem, —and Asa cut down her monstrous thing and burned it in the Kidron ravine.
Na mpo, ɔtuu ne nanabaa Maaka firii ahemaadwa no so, ɛfiri sɛ, na wayɛ Asera ahoni dua a na ɛyɛ akyiwadeɛ. Asa twaa dua no na ɔhyee no wɔ Kidron bɔnhwa mu.
14 But, the high places, removed he not, —nevertheless, the heart of Asa, was blameless with Yahweh, all his days.
Ɛwom sɛ wɔansɛe abosonnan no nyinaa koraa deɛ, nanso, Asa kɔɔ so de nʼakoma hyɛɛ Awurade mu nʼasetena nyinaa mu.
15 And he brought in the hallowed things of his father, and his own hallowed things, into the house of Yahweh, —silver and gold, and vessels.
Ɔde dwetɛ, sikakɔkɔɔ ne nneɛma a ɔno ne nʼagya too edin de maa Awurade Asɔredan no baeɛ.
16 And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.
Na akokoakoko wɔ Yudahene Asa ne Israelhene Baasa ntam.
17 And Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, —so as not to suffer any one to come out or go in unto Asa king of Judah.
Israelhene Baasa kɔko tiaa Yuda, na ɔmaa Rama banbɔ sɛdeɛ obi ntumi nni ahyɛnfirie wɔ Yudahene Asa asase so.
18 So Asa took all the silver and the gold, that were left in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, and delivered them into the hand of his servants, —and King Asa sent them unto Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying:
Asa tasee dwetɛ ne sikakɔkɔɔ no a ɛkaa wɔ Awurade Asɔredan no akoradan mu ne deɛ na ɛwɔ ahemfie no akoradan no mu. Ɔde hyɛɛ ne mpanimfoɔ no mu bi nsa, na ɔsomaa wɔn ma wɔkɔɔ Hesion babarima Tabrimon babarima Siriahene Ben-Hadad a na ɔdi ɔhene wɔ Damasko no nkyɛn, na ɔde saa nsɛm yi kaa ho.
19 [Let there be a] covenant between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father: Lo! I have sent thee a gift, silver and gold, Come break thy covenant with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may go up from against me.
“Ma yɛnyɛ apam a na ɛda wʼagya ne mʼagya ntam no foforɔ. Tie, mede akyɛdeɛ a ɛyɛ dwetɛ ne sikakɔkɔɔ resoma de abrɛ wo. Afei, twa wo ne Israelhene Baasa apam no mu, sɛdeɛ ɔremfa ne nsa nka me.”
20 So Ben-hadad hearkened unto King Asa, and sent the generals of the forces which he had, against the cities of Israel, and smote Iyyohn [Ijon], and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, —and all Chinneroth, against all the land of Naphtali.
Ben-Hadad penee ɔhene Asa abisadeɛ no so, na ɔsomaa nʼakodɔm, ma wɔkɔto hyɛɛ Israel so. Wɔdii nkuro Iyon, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maaka ne Kineret a Naftali nsase nyinaa ka ho no so.
21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, he left off building Ramah, —and returned to Tirzah.
Na Israelhene Baasa tee asɛm a asi no, ɔgyaee nʼadwuma a na ɔreyɛ de abɔ Rama ho ban no, kɔɔ Tirsa kɔtenaa hɔ.
22 And, King Asa, published it unto all Judah, none was exempted, so they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the beams thereof, wherewith Baasha had built, —and King Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
Afei, ɔhene Asa soma kɔɔ Yuda mmaa nyinaa, kɔkaa sɛ ɔhwehwɛ sɛ obiara biara bɛboa asoa ɛdansie aboɔ ne nnua a na Baasa de reyɛ banbɔdwuma wɔ Rama no afiri hɔ. Asa de saa banbɔ nneɛma no kyekyeree kuro Geba a ɛwɔ Benyamin ne Mispa kuro no.
23 Now, the rest of all the story of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did and the cities which he built, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? Howbeit, in the time of his old age, he was diseased in his feet.
Asa ahennie ho nsɛm nkaeɛ ne deɛ ne tumi kɔduruiɛ no, ne nkuro a ɔkyekyereɛ no nyinaa din no, wɔatwerɛ agu Yuda Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nwoma no mu. Ne nkɔkoraabɔ mu no, ɔyaree ne nan.
24 So then Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, —and, Jehoshaphat his son, reigned, in his stead.
Ɛberɛ a Asa wuiɛ no, wɔsiee no nʼagyanom nkyɛn wɔ Dawid kuropɔn mu. Na ne babarima Yehosafat bɛdii nʼadeɛ sɛ ɔhene.
25 Now, Nadab son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, —and he reigned over Israel, two years.
Yeroboam babarima Nadab hyɛɛ aseɛ dii adeɛ wɔ Israel ɛberɛ a na ɔhene Asa adi adeɛ wɔ Yuda mfeɛ mmienu mu. Ɔdii adeɛ Israel mfeɛ mmienu.
26 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin, wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.
Na ɔyɛɛ bɔne wɔ Awurade ani so. Ɔdii nʼagya anammɔn akyi, toaa so yɛɛ bɔne, somm abosom sɛdeɛ na Yeroboam adi Israel anim ama wɔayɛ no.
27 And Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him, and Baasha smote him in Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, —Nadab and all Israel being in siege against Gibbethon.
Na Ahiya babarima Baasa a ɔfiri Isakar abusuakuo mu no pam Nadab tiri so, kumm no ɛberɛ a na ɔne Israel akodɔm akyere sraban, retua Filistifoɔ kuro Gibeton no.
28 And Baasha slew him, in the third year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.
Baasa kumm Nadab wɔ ɔhene Asa adedie wɔ Yuda mfeɛ mmiɛnsa mu no so, na ɔbɛyɛɛ Israelhene a ɔdi hɔ.
29 And it came to pass, when he became king, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam, he left not remaining any breathing thing pertaining to Jeroboam, until he had destroyed him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:
Ntɛm ara, ɔkunkumm ɔhene Yeroboam asefoɔ nyinaa a adehyeɛ abusua no mu baako koraa anka, sɛdeɛ Awurade nam odiyifoɔ Ahiya a ɔfiri Silo ahyɛ bɔ afa Yeroboam ho no.
30 for the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit, —by his provocation wherewith he provoked to anger Yahweh God of Israel.
Saa asɛm yi siiɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, Yeroboam di a ɔdii Israel anim ma wɔyɛɛ bɔne no, ɛhyɛɛ Awurade, Israel Onyankopɔn, abufuo.
31 Now, the rest of the story of Nadab, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Nadab ahennie ho nsɛm nkaeɛ ne dwuma a ɔdiiɛ nyinaa no, wɔatwerɛ agu Israel Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nwoma mu.
32 And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.
Na akokoakoko wɔ Asa ne Israelhene Baasa ntam.
33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, began Baasha, son of Ahijah, to reign over all Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] twenty-four years.
Ahiya ba Baasa hyɛɛ aseɛ dii Israel so wɔ ɔhene Asa adedie wɔ Yuda no mfeɛ mmiɛnsa mu. Baasa dii adeɛ Tirsa mfeɛ aduonu ɛnan.
34 And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.
Na ɔyɛɛ bɔne wɔ Awurade ani so. Ɔdii Yeroboam anammɔn akyi, somm abosom, sɛdeɛ Yeroboam dii Israel anim yɛeɛ no.
