1 Kings 15

1 Now, in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, began Abijah to reign over Judah.

La dix-huitième année du Roi Jéroboam fils de Nébat, Abijam commença à régner sur Juda.

2 Three years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.

Et il régna trois ans à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Mahaca, et était fille d'Abisalom.

3 And he walked in all the sins of his father which he had done before him, —and his heart was not blameless with Yahweh his God, like the heart of David his father.

Il marcha dans tous les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui, et son cœur ne fut point pur envers l'Eternel son Dieu, comme [l'avait été] le cœur de David son père.

4 But, for the sake of David, did Yahweh his God give him a lamp, in Jerusalem, —by raising up a son of his after him, and by suffering Jerusalem to stand;

Mais pour l'amour de David l'Eternel son Dieu lui donna une Lampe dans Jérusalem, lui suscitant son fils après lui, et protégeant Jérusalem;

5 because David did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him, all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

Parce que David avait fait ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel, et tout le temps de sa vie il ne s'était point détourné de rien qu'il lui eût commandé, hormis dans l'affaire d'Urie l'Héthien.

6 And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, all the days of his life.

Or il y eut toujours guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam tout le temps que [Roboam] vécut.

7 Now, the rest of the story of Abijah and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was, war, between Abijah and Jeroboam.

Et le reste des actions d'Abijam, et même tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda? Il y eut aussi guerre entre Abijam et Jéroboam.

8 So then Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, —and, Asa his son, reigned, in his stead.

Ainsi Abijam s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'ensevelit en la Cité de David; et Asa son fils régna en sa place.

9 Now, in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, began Asa to reign as king of Judah;

La vingtième année de Jéroboam Roi d'Israël, Asa commença à régner sur Juda.

10 and, forty-one years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.

Et il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Mahaca, [et] elle était fille d'Abisalom.

11 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —like David his father;

Et Asa fit ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel, comme David son père.

12 and he put away the male devotees out of the land, —and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

Car il abolit du pays les prostitués à la paillardise, et ôta tous les dieux de fiente que ses pères avaient faits.

13 Moreover also, even Maachah his mother, he removed from being queen, because she had made a monstrous thing to the Sacred Stem, —and Asa cut down her monstrous thing and burned it in the Kidron ravine.

Et même il déposa sa mère Mahaca, afin qu'elle ne fût plus régente, parce qu'elle avait fait un simulacre pour un bocage, et Asa mit en pièces le simulacre qu'elle avait fait, et le brûla près du torrent de Cédron.

14 But, the high places, removed he not, —nevertheless, the heart of Asa, was blameless with Yahweh, all his days.

Mais les hauts lieux ne furent point ôtés; néanmoins le cœur d'Asa fut droit envers l'Eternel tout le temps de sa vie.

15 And he brought in the hallowed things of his father, and his own hallowed things, into the house of Yahweh, —silver and gold, and vessels.

Et il remit dans la maison de l'Eternel les choses qui avaient été consacrées par son père, avec ce qu'il avait aussi lui-même consacré, d'argent, d'or, et de vaisseaux.

16 And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.

r il y eut guerre entre Asa et Bahasa Roi d'Israël tout le temps de leur vie.

17 And Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, —so as not to suffer any one to come out or go in unto Asa king of Judah.

Car Bahasa Roi d'Israël monta contre Juda, et bâtit Rama, afin de ne laisser sortir ni entrer personne vers Asa Roi de Juda.

18 So Asa took all the silver and the gold, that were left in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, and delivered them into the hand of his servants, —and King Asa sent them unto Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying:

Et Asa prit tout l'argent et l'or qui était demeuré dans les trésors de l'Eternel, et dans les trésors de la maison Royale, et les donna à ses serviteurs, et le Roi Asa les envoya vers Ben-hadad fils de Tabrimon, fils de Hezjon Roi de Syrie, qui demeurait à Damas, pour lui dire:

19 [Let there be a] covenant between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father: Lo! I have sent thee a gift, silver and gold, Come break thy covenant with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may go up from against me.

[Il y a] alliance entre moi et toi, et entre mon père et le tien; voici, je t'envoie un présent en argent et en or; Va, romps l'alliance que tu as avec Bahasa Roi d'Israël, et qu'il se retire de moi.

20 So Ben-hadad hearkened unto King Asa, and sent the generals of the forces which he had, against the cities of Israel, and smote Iyyohn [Ijon], and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, —and all Chinneroth, against all the land of Naphtali.

Et Ben-hadad accorda cela au Roi Asa, et envoya les capitaines de son armée, contre les villes d'Israël, et frappa Hijon, Dan, Abel-beth-mahaca, et tout Kinneroth, qui était joignant tout le pays de Nephthali.

21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, he left off building Ramah, —and returned to Tirzah.

Et il arriva qu'aussitôt que Bahasa l'eut appris, il cessa de bâtir Rama, et demeura à Tirtsa.

22 And, King Asa, published it unto all Judah, none was exempted, so they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the beams thereof, wherewith Baasha had built, —and King Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

Alors le Roi Asa fit publier par tout Juda que tous, sans en excepter aucun, eussent à emporter les pierres et le bois de Rama, que Bahasa faisait bâtir, et le Roi Asa en bâtit Guébah de Benjamin, et Mitspa.

23 Now, the rest of all the story of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did and the cities which he built, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? Howbeit, in the time of his old age, he was diseased in his feet.

Le reste de tous les faits d'Asa, et toute sa valeur, et tout ce qu'il a fait, et les villes qu'il a bâties, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda? Au reste, il fut malade de ses pieds au temps de sa vieillesse.

24 So then Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, —and, Jehoshaphat his son, reigned, in his stead.

Et Asa s'endormit avec ses pères, avec lesquels il fut enseveli en la Cité de David son père, et Josaphat son fils régna en sa place.

25 Now, Nadab son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, —and he reigned over Israel, two years.

Or Nadab fils de Jéroboam commença à régner sur Israël la seconde année d'Asa Roi de Juda, et il régna deux ans sur Israël.

26 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin, wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.

Et il fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, et suivit le train de son père, et le péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.

27 And Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him, and Baasha smote him in Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, —Nadab and all Israel being in siege against Gibbethon.

Et Bahasa fils d'Ahija de la maison d'Issacar, fit une conspiration contre lui, et le frappa devant Guibbethon qui était aux Philistins, lorsque Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Guibbethon.

28 And Baasha slew him, in the third year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.

Bahasa donc le fit mourir la troisième année d'Asa Roi de Juda, et il régna en sa place;

29 And it came to pass, when he became king, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam, he left not remaining any breathing thing pertaining to Jeroboam, until he had destroyed him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

Et aussitôt qu'il vint à régner il frappa toute la maison de Jéroboam, et il ne laissa aucune âme vivante [de la race] de Jéroboam qu'il n'exterminât, selon la parole de l'Eternel qu'il avait proférée par son serviteur Ahija Silonite;

30 for the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit, —by his provocation wherewith he provoked to anger Yahweh God of Israel.

A cause des péchés de Jéroboam qu'il avait faits, et par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël; [et] à cause du péché par lequel il avait irrité l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël.

31 Now, the rest of the story of Nadab, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Le reste des faits de Nadab, et même tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël?

32 And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.

Or il y eut guerre entre Asa et Bahasa Roi d'Israël, tout le temps de leur vie.

33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, began Baasha, son of Ahijah, to reign over all Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] twenty-four years.

La troisième année d'Asa Roi de Juda, Bahasa fils d'Ahija commença à régner sur tout Israël à Tirtsa, [et régna] vingt et quatre ans.

34 And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.

Et il fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, et suivit le train de Jéroboam, et son péché, par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.
