1 Kings 1
1 Now, King David, was old, advanced in days, —and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
Als nun der König David alt (und) hochbetagt geworden war, hüllte man ihn in Decken ein, aber er konnte trotzdem nicht warm werden.
2 Wherefore his servants said unto him—Let there be sought for my lord the king, a young woman—a virgin, so shall she stand before the king, that she may become his companion, —and she shall lie in thy bosom, and my lord the king shall get, heat.
Da sagten seine Diener zu ihm: »Man muß sich für den König, unsern Herrn, nach einem jungfräulichen Mädchen umsehen, die ihn zu bedienen hat und als Pflegerin bei ihm ist; wenn die dann in seinen Armen ruht, wird der König, unser Herr, gewiß warm werden.«
3 So they sought a fair young woman, throughout all the bounds of Israel, —and found Abishag, the Shunammite, and brought her in, unto the king.
Da suchte man denn im ganzen Bereiche Israels nach dem schönsten Mädchen; und man fand Abisag von Sunem und brachte sie zum König.
4 Now, the young woman, was exceeding fair, —so she became unto the king a companion, and ministered unto him, but, the king, knew her not.
Sie war ein Mädchen von außerordentlicher Schönheit und hatte nun den König zu bedienen und zu pflegen; aber der König hatte keinen ehelichen Umgang mit ihr.
5 And, Adonijah son of Haggith, exalted himself, saying—I, will be king. Therefore prepared he for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
Adonia aber, der Sohn der Haggith, dachte voller Überhebung: »Ich bin’s, der König wird!« Daher schaffte er sich Wagen und Pferde an und fünfzig Mann, die als Leibdiener vor ihm herliefen.
6 Now his father had not displeased him all his days, by saying—Why, thus, hast thou done? Moreover also, he, was of exceeding handsome appearance, and, him, did his mother bear, after Absolom.
Sein Vater hatte ihm darüber nie, solange er lebte, Vorstellungen gemacht, daß er zu ihm gesagt hätte: »Warum tust du so etwas?« Dazu war er ein Mann von großer Schönheit und war gleich nach Absalom geboren.
7 So then he had speech with Joab, son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, —and they gave help, following Adonijah.
So setzte er sich denn ins Einvernehmen mit Joab, dem Sohn der Zeruja, und mit dem Priester Abjathar, so daß diese auf der Seite Adonias standen,
8 But, Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
während der Priester Zadok und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, und der Prophet Nathan sowie Simei und Rei und die Helden Davids es nicht mit Adonia hielten.
9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and heifers, near the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel, —and invited all his brethren, sons of the king, and all the men of Judah, servants of the king;
Als nun Adonia beim Schlangenstein, der neben der Walkerquelle liegt, Kleinvieh, Rinder und Mastkälber zu einem großen Opfermahl schlachtete, lud er alle seine Brüder, die Königssöhne (königlichen Prinzen), dazu ein, auch alle Männer von Juda, soweit sie im Dienste des Königs standen;
10 but, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he invited not.
aber den Propheten Nathan und Benaja sowie die Helden und seinen Bruder Salomo ließ er uneingeladen.
11 Then spake Nathan unto Bath-sheba mother of Solomon, saying—Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath become king, and, our lord David, knoweth it not?
Da sagte Nathan zu Bathseba, der Mutter Salomos: »Hast du nicht gehört, daß Adonia, der Sohn der Haggith, sich zum König gemacht hat, ohne daß David, unser Herr, etwas davon weiß?
12 Now, therefore, come; let me give thee counsel, I pray thee, —so shalt thou rescue thine own life, and the life of thy son, Solomon.
Nun denn, komm, ich will dir einen Rat geben, wie du dir und deinem Sohne Salomo das Leben retten kannst!
13 Go, and get thee in unto King David, and thou shalt say unto him—Didst not, thou thyself, my lord O king, swear unto thy handmaid, saying—Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne? Why, then, hath, Adonijah, become king?
Gehe sofort zum König David hinein und sage zu ihm: ›Du selbst hast ja doch, mein Herr und König, deiner Magd eidlich versprochen, daß mein Sohn Salomo König nach dir werden und er der Erbe deines Thrones sein solle. Wie kommt es denn, daß jetzt Adonia König geworden ist?‹
14 Lo! while thou art yet speaking there with the king, I also, will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
Während du dann dort noch mit dem Könige redest, werde ich selbst nach dir hineinkommen und deine Aussagen bestätigen.«
15 So Bath-sheba went in unto the king, into the chamber, now, the king, was very old, —and Abishag the Shunammite, was ministering unto the king.
So ging denn Bathseba zum König in das Schlafgemach hinein; der König aber war schon sehr alt, und Abisag von Sunem war seine Pflegerin.
16 And Bath-sheba bowed, and did homage unto the king, —and the king said—What aileth thee?
Als Bathseba sich nun vor dem Könige verneigt und niedergeworfen hatte, fragte der König sie: »Was wünschest du?«
17 And she said unto him—My lord, thou thyself, didst swear by Yahweh thy God, unto thy handmaid, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne.
Sie antwortete ihm: »Mein Herr, du selbst hast deiner Magd bei dem HERRN, deinem Gott, zugeschworen, daß mein Sohn Salomo König nach dir werden und er der Erbe deines Thrones sein solle.
18 But, now, lo! Adonijah, hath become king; now, therefore, my lord, O king, thou knowest it not:
Aber nun hat sich ja doch Adonia zum König gemacht, ohne daß du, mein Herr und König, etwas davon weißt.
19 and he hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab general of the army, —but, Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
Er hat nämlich Rinder, Mastkälber und Kleinvieh in Menge (zu einem großen Opfermahl) schlachten lassen und alle königlichen Prinzen, auch den Priester Abjathar, sowie den obersten Heerführer Joab dazu eingeladen; aber deinen Knecht Salomo hat er uneingeladen gelassen!
20 Thou, therefore, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel, are upon thee, —to tell them, who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him.
Nun aber, mein Herr und König, sind die Augen aller Israeliten auf dich gerichtet, daß du ihnen kundgebest, wer auf dem Throne meines Herrn, des Königs, als sein Nachfolger sitzen soll.
21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, then shall I and my son Solomon be counted, offenders.
Sonst wird es dahin kommen, sobald mein Herr und König sich zu seinen Vätern (schlafen) gelegt hat, daß ich und mein Sohn Salomo als Schuldige dastehen.«
22 And lo! while yet she was speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet, came in.
Während sie noch mit dem Könige redete, erschien der Prophet Nathan;
23 So they told the king, saying, Lo! Nathan the prophet! And, when he had come in before the king, he bowed himself down to the king with his face to the ground.
man meldete also dem Könige: »Der Prophet Nathan ist da!« Und er trat vor den König, und als er sich vor ihm mit dem Angesicht zur Erde verneigt und sich niedergeworfen hatte,
24 Then said Nathan—My lord, O king, hast, thou, said, Adonijah, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne?
sagte Nathan: »Mein Herr und König! Du hast wohl selbst angeordnet, daß Adonia König nach dir sein und auf deinem Throne sitzen soll?
25 For he hath gone down to-day, and hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and the generals of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and, there they are—eating and drinking before him, —and they have said—Long live King Adonijah!
Denn er ist heute hinabgegangen und hat Rinder, Mastkälber und Kleinvieh in Menge schlachten lassen und hat alle königlichen Prinzen, außerdem die obersten Heerführer und den Priester Abjathar eingeladen; und nun essen und trinken sie vor ihm und rufen: ›Es lebe der König Adonia!‹
26 But, me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
Aber mich, deinen Knecht, und den Priester Zadok sowie Benaja, den Sohn Jojadas, und deinen Knecht Salomo hat er nicht dazu eingeladen!
27 If, of my lord the king, this thing had been brought to pass, then wouldest thou not have made known unto thy servant, who should sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him?
Wenn dies alles mit Wissen und Willen meines Herrn, des Königs, geschehen ist, so hättest du also deine Diener nicht wissen lassen, wer auf dem Throne meines Herrn, des Königs, als sein Nachfolger sitzen soll?«
28 Then responded King David, and said, Call me Bath-sheba. So she came in before the king, and stood before the king.
Da antwortete der König David: »Ruft mir Bathseba (wieder)!« Als sie nun erschienen und vor den König getreten war,
29 And the king sware, and said, —By the life of Yahweh, who hath redeemed my life out of every strait,
schwur der König mit den Worten: »So wahr der HERR lebt, der mich aus aller Not errettet hat!
30 even as I sware unto thee by Yahweh, God of Israel, saying, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne, in my stead, even so, will I do this day.
Wie ich dir beim HERRN, dem Gott Israels, geschworen und gelobt habe, daß nämlich dein Sohn Salomo König nach mir sein und als mein Nachfolger auf meinem Throne sitzen soll, so will ich es am heutigen Tage wahr machen!«
31 Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did homage unto the king, —and said—Let my lord, King David, live to times age-abiding!
Da verneigte sich Bathseba mit dem Angesicht bis zum Boden, warf sich vor dem Könige nieder und rief aus: »Möge mein Herr, der König David, ewiglich leben!«
32 Then said King David—Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada. And they came in before the king.
Hierauf befahl der König David: »Ruft mir den Priester Zadok, den Propheten Nathan und Benaja, den Sohn Jojadas!« Als sie vor dem Könige erschienen waren, befahl dieser ihnen:
33 Then said the king unto them—Take ye with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon the mule which pertaineth unto myself, —and bring him down unto Gihon;
»Nehmt die Knechte eures Herrn mit euch und laßt meinen Sohn Salomo mein eigenes Maultier besteigen und geleitet ihn hinab an den Gihon.
34 then shall Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, —and ye shall blow with the horn, and say—Long live King Solomon!
Dort sollen der Priester Zadok und der Prophet Nathan ihn zum König über Israel salben; ihr aber laßt in die Posaune stoßen und ruft: ›Es lebe der König Salomo!‹
35 Then shall ye come up after him, and he shall enter, and sit upon my throne, yea, he, shall become king in my stead; even, him, have I charged to become leader, over Israel, and over Judah.
Alsdann zieht hinter ihm her wieder (zur Burg) herauf; und wenn er dort angekommen ist, soll er sich auf meinen Thron setzen, und dann soll er König sein an meiner Statt; denn ihn habe ich zum Fürsten über Israel und Juda bestellt!«
36 Then did Benaiah son of Jehoiada make response unto the king, and say—Amen! so, say Yahweh, God of my lord the king.
Da antwortete Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, dem König mit den Worten: »So sei es! Möge der HERR, der Gott meines Herrn, des Königs, sein Amen dazu sprechen!
37 As Yahweh hath been with my lord the king, so, let him he with Solomon, —and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord, King David.
Wie Gott der HERR mit meinem Herrn, dem König, gewesen ist, so möge er auch mit Salomo sein und möge seinen Thron noch mehr erhöhen als den Thron meines Herrn, des Königs David!«
38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon the mule of King David, —and they escorted him to Gihon.
So gingen denn der Priester Zadok, der Prophet Nathan und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, samt der Leibwache der Krethi und Plethi hinab, ließen Salomo das Maultier des Königs David besteigen und geleiteten ihn an den Gihon.
39 Then took Zadok the priest, the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon, —and they blew with a [ram’s] horn, and all the people said, Long live King Solomon!
Der Priester Zadok hatte aber das mit Öl gefüllte Horn aus dem (heiligen) Zelt mitgenommen und salbte nun Salomo; dann ließen sie in die Posaune stoßen, und alles Volk rief: »Es lebe der König Salomo!«
40 And all the people came up after him, the people themselves also, playing with flutes, and rejoicing with great joy, —so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
Hierauf geleitete ihn alles Volk (nach der Burg) hinauf, indem die Leute alle dabei auf Flöten bliesen und so laut und freudig jubelten, daß die Erde vor ihrem Geschrei schier bersten wollte.
41 And Adonijah, and all the guests who were with him, heard it, just as, they, had made an end of eating, —and, when Joab heard the sound of a horn, he said—Wherefore the noise of the city, in tumult?
Das hörten Adonia und alle seine Gäste, als sie eben mit dem Mahl zu Ende waren. Als nun Joab den Posaunenschall vernahm, fragte er: »Was bedeutet das Geschrei und der Lärm in der Stadt?«
42 While yet he was speaking, lo! Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest, came in, —and Adonijah said—Come in, for, a worthy man, thou art, and, good tidings, dost thou bring.
Während er noch redete, kam Jonathan, der Sohn des Priesters Abjathar; und Adonia rief ihm zu: »Komm herein, du bist ein zuverlässiger Mann und bringst gewiß gute Botschaft!«
43 But Jonathan responded and said to Adonijah, —Of a truth, our lord, King David, hath made, Solomon, king.
Aber Jonathan antwortete dem Adonia: »Im Gegenteil! Unser Herr, der König David, hat Salomo zum König gemacht!
44 And the king hath sent with him—Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, —and they have caused him to ride upon the mule of the king;
Der König hat nämlich den Priester Zadok, den Propheten Nathan und Benaja, den Sohn Jojadas, samt der Leibwache der Krethi und Plethi mit ihm entsandt; diese haben ihn das Maultier des Königs besteigen lassen,
45 and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king, in Gihon, and they went up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again, —That, is the noise ye have heard.
und der Priester Zadok und der Prophet Nathan haben ihn am Gihon zum König gesalbt und sind von dort jubelnd (auf die Burg) hinaufgezogen, und die ganze Stadt ist dadurch in Aufregung geraten; daher rührt das Geschrei, das ihr gehört habt.
46 Moreover also, Solomon hath taken his seat upon the throne of the kingdom.
Salomo hat sich dann auch auf den Königsthron gesetzt;
47 Moreover also, the servants of the king have been in, to bless our lord King David, saying—Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne, —And the king bowed himself upon his bed.
außerdem sind auch die Diener des Königs bereits hineingegangen, um unserm Herrn, dem König David, Glück zu wünschen mit den Worten: ›Dein Gott möge den Namen Salomos noch ruhmvoller machen als den deinigen und seinen Thron noch mehr erhöhen als den deinigen!‹ Dabei hat der König sich auf seinem Lager verneigt
48 Moreover also, thus and thus, hath said the king, —Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who hath given, to-day, one to sit upon my throne, mine own eyes also beholding it.
und auch noch die Worte hinzugefügt: ›Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, der es heute so gefügt hat, daß ich einen Nachfolger (aus meinem Geschlecht) auf meinem Throne mit eigenen Augen sitzen sehe!‹«
49 Then trembled and rose up, all Adonijah’s guests, —and departed, every man his own way.
Da erschraken alle, die von Adonia eingeladen worden waren; sie brachen auf und gingen ein jeder seines Weges.
50 Adonijah also, feared because of Solomon, —and rose and went, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.
Adonia selbst aber, der sich vor Salomo fürchtete, eilte sofort hin und umfaßte die Hörner des Altars.
51 And it was told Solomon, saying, Lo! Adonijah, feareth King Solomon, —lo! therefore, he hath laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear unto me at once that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
Als man dies dem Salomo meldete mit den Worten: »Adonia hat jetzt aus Furcht vor dem König Salomo die Hörner des Altars umfaßt und erklärt, der König Salomo möge ihm erst schwören, daß er seinen Knecht nicht hinrichten lassen wolle«,
52 Then said Solomon, If he will be a man of worth, there shall not one hair of him fall to the earth, —but, if mischief be found in him, then shall he die.
sagte Salomo: »Wenn er sich als ein ehrenhafter Mann erweist, so soll ihm kein Haar gekrümmt werden; läßt er sich aber Böses zuschulden kommen, dann ist er ein Kind des Todes!«
53 So King Solomon sent, and brought him down from the altar, and he came in, and bowed himself down to King Solomon, —and Solomon said unto him—Go to thine own house.
Darauf ließ ihn der König Salomo vom Altar wegholen; und als er kam und sich vor dem König Salomo niederwarf, sagte dieser zu ihm: »Gehe in dein Haus!«
