< 1 John 5 >

1 Whosoever believeth that, Jesus, is the Christ, of God, hath been born: and, whosoever loveth him that begat, loveth him that hath been begotten of him.
Omnis, qui credit, quoniam Iesus est Christus, ex Deo natus est. Et omnis, qui diligit eum qui genuit, diligit et eum qui natus est ex eo.
2 Hereby, perceive we, that we love the children of God, as soon as, God, we love, and, his commandments, we are doing.
In hoc cognoscimus quoniam diligamus natos Dei, cum Deum diligamus, et mandata eius faciamus.
3 For, this is the love of God—that, his commandments, we be keeping, and, his commandments, are not burdensome;
Haec est enim charitas Dei, ut mandata eius custodiamus: et mandata eius gravia non sunt.
4 Because, whatsoever hath been born of God, overcometh the world; and, this, is the victory that hath overcome the world—our faith.
Quoniam omne, quod natum est ex Deo, vincit mundum: et haec est victoria, quae vincit mundum, fides nostra.
5 [And] who is he that overcometh the world, save he that believeth that, Jesus, is the Son of God?
Quis est, qui vincit mundum, nisi qui credit quoniam Iesus est filius Dei?
6 This, is he that came through means of water and blood, Jesus Christ: not, by the water, only, but, by the water and by the blood, —and, the Spirit, it is, that is bearing witness, because, the Spirit, is the truth.
hic est, qui venit per aquam et sanguinem, Iesus Christus: non in aqua solum, sed in aqua et sanguine. Et spiritus est, qui testificatur, quoniam Christus est veritas.
7 Because, three, are they who are bearing witness—
Quoniam tres sunt, qui testimonium dant in caelo: Pater, Verbum, et Spiritus sanctus: et hi tres unum sunt.
8 The Spirit, and the Water, and the Blood; and, the three, are, [witnesses], unto one thing.
Et tres sunt, qui testimonium dant in terra: Spiritus, et aqua, et sanguis: et hi tres unum sunt.
9 If, the witness of men, we receive, the witness of God, is, greater. Because, this, is the witness of God—in that he hath borne witness concerning his Son, —
Si testimonium hominum accipimus, testimonium Dei maius est: quoniam hoc est testimonium Dei, quod maius est, quoniam testificatus est de Filio suo.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the witness, within himself: He that doth not believe God, false, hath made him, —because he hath not believed on the witness which, God, hath witnessed, concerning his Son—
Qui credit in Filium Dei, habet testimonium Dei in se. Qui non credit Filio, mendacem facit eum: quia non credit in testimonium quod testificatus est Deus de Filio suo.
11 And, this, is the witness: —that, life age-abiding, hath God given unto us, and, this life, is, in his Son: (aiōnios g166)
Et hoc est testimonium, quoniam vitam aeternam dedit nobis Deus. Et haec vita in Filio eius est. (aiōnios g166)
12 He that hath the Son, hath, the life, —he that hath not the Son of God, hath not, the life.
Qui habet Filium Dei, habet vitam: qui non habet Filium Dei, vitam non habet.
13 These things, have I written unto you—in order that ye may know that ye have, Life Age-abiding—unto you who believe on the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
Haec scribo vobis: ut sciatis quoniam vitam habetis aeternam, qui creditis in nomine Filii Dei. (aiōnios g166)
14 And, this, is the boldness which we have towards him: that, if, anything, we ask, according to his will, He doth hearken unto us.
Et haec est fiducia, quam habemus ad Deum: Quia quodcumque petierimus secundum voluntatem eius, audit nos.
15 And, if we know that he doth hearken unto us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the things asked, which we have asked of him,
Et scimus quia audit nos quidquid petierimus: scimus quoniam habemus petitiones quas postulamus ab eo.
16 If one should see his brother committing a sin, not unto death, he shall ask, and He will grant unto him life, —for them who are sinning, not unto death. There, is, a sin, unto death: not concerning that, am I saying, that he should make request.
Qui scit fratrem suum peccare peccatum non ad mortem, petat, et dabitur ei vita peccanti non ad mortem. Est peccatum ad mortem: non pro illo dico ut roget quis.
17 All unrighteousness, is, sin, and there, is, a sin, not unto death.
Omnis iniquitas, peccatum est: et est peccatum ad mortem.
18 We know that, whosoever hath been born of God, is not committing sin, —Nay, he that hath been born of God, He keepeth him, and, the wicked one, doth not touch him.
Scimus quia omnis, qui natus est ex Deo, non peccat: sed generatio Dei conservat eum, et malignus non tangit eum.
19 We know that, of God, are we; and, the whole world, in the wicked one, is lying.
Scimus quoniam ex Deo sumus: et mundus totus in maligno positus est.
20 We know, moreover, that, the Son of God, hath come, and hath given us insight, so that we are getting to understand, him that is Real, —and we are in him that is Real, in his Son Jesus Christ. This, is the Real God, and life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
Et scimus quoniam Filius Dei venit, et dedit nobis sensum ut cognoscamus verum Deum, et simus in vero Filio eius. Hic est verus Deus, et vita aeterna. (aiōnios g166)
21 Dear children! Guard yourselves from idols.
