< 1 Corinthians 3 >

1 I, therefore, brethren, have not been able to speak unto you, as unto men of the Spirit, but as unto men of the flesh—as unto babes in Christ: —
Et ego, fratres, non potui vobis loqui quasi spiritualibus, sed quasi carnalibus. Tamquam parvulis in Christo,
2 With milk, have I fed you, not, with meat; for, not yet, have ye been able; —nay! not [yet] even now, are ye able,
lac vobis potum dedi, non escam: nondum enim poteratis: sed nec nunc quidem potestis: adhuc enim carnales estis.
3 For ye are yet fleshly. For, whereas there are, among you, jealousy and strife, are ye not, fleshly, and, after the manner of men, walking?
Cum enim sit inter vos zelus, et contentio: nonne carnales estis, et secundum hominem ambulatis?
4 For, as soon as one beginneth to say—I, indeed, am of Paul! and another—I, of Apollos! are ye not, men?
Cum enim quis dicat: Ego quidem sum Pauli. Alius autem: Ego Apollo: nonne homines estis? Quid igitur est Apollo? quid vero Paulus?
5 What then is Apollos? and, what is Paul? ministers through whom ye believed, and, each, as the Lord, gave to him.
Ministri eius, cui credidistis, ut unicuique sicut Dominus dedit.
6 I, planted, Apollos, watered, —but, God, caused to, grow.
Ego plantavi, Apollo rigavit: sed Deus incrementum dedit.
7 So that, [neither] is he that planteth anything, nor, he that watereth, —but, God, who causeth to, grow.
Itaque neque qui plantat est aliquid, neque qui rigat: sed, qui incrementum dat, Deus.
8 Moreover, he that planteth and he that watereth, are one: —howbeit, each one, his own reward, shall receive, —according to his own labour.
Qui autem plantat, et qui rigat, unum sunt. Unusquisque autem propriam mercedem accipiet secundum suum laborem.
9 For we are, God’s, fellow-workmen: ye are, God’s, farm, God’s building.
Dei enim sumus adiutores: Dei agricultura estis, Dei ædificatio estis.
10 According to the favour of God which hath been given unto me, as a wise master-builder, I laid a foundation, whereas, another, is building thereon; but, let each one, see, how he buildeth thereon;
Secundum gratiam Dei, quæ data est mihi, ut sapiens architectus fundamentum posui: alius autem superædificat. Unusquisque autem videat quomodo superædificet.
11 For, other foundation, can, no one, lay, than that which is lying, which is, Jesus Christ.
Fundamentum enim aliud nemo potest ponere præter id, quod positum est, quod est Christus Iesus.
12 But, if anyone is building, upon the foundation—gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
Si quis autem superædificat super fundamentum hoc, aurum, argentum, lapides pretiosos, ligna, fœnum, stipulam,
13 Each one’s work, shall be made, manifest; for, the day, will make it plain, because, by fire, is it to be revealed, —and, each one’s work, of what sort it is, the fire itself will prove: —
uniuscuiusque opus manifestum erit: dies enim Domini declarabit, quia in igne revelabitur: et uniuscuiusque opus quale sit, ignis probabit.
14 If, anyone’s work, shall abide, which he built, a reward, shall he receive, —
Si cuius opus manserit quod superædificavit, mercedem accipiet.
15 If, anyone’s work, shall be burnt up, he shall suffer loss, but shall, himself, be saved—though, thus, as through fire.
Si cuius opus arserit, detrimentum patietur: ipse autem salvus erit: sic tamen quasi per ignem.
16 Know ye not that ye are a shrine of God, and that the Spirit of God within you doth dwell?
Nescitis quia templum Dei estis, et Spiritus Dei habitat in vobis?
17 If anyone doth mar the shrine of God, God, will mar him; for the shrine of God is holy, —and such are ye.
Si quis autem templum Dei violaverit, disperdet illum Deus. Templum enim Dei sanctum est, quod estis vos.
18 Let no one be deceiving himself: —if anyone imagineth himself to be wise among you, in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become wise; (aiōn g165)
Nemo se seducat: si quis videtur inter vos sapiens esse in hoc sæculo, stultus fiat ut sit sapiens. (aiōn g165)
19 For, the wisdom of this world, is, foolishness with God; for it is written—He that taketh the wise in their knavery, —
Sapientia enim huius mundi, stultitia est apud Deum. Scriptum est enim: Comprehendam sapientes in astutia eorum.
20 And again—The Lord taketh note of the speculations of the wise, that they are vain.
Et iterum: Dominus novit cogitationes sapientium quoniam vanæ sunt.
21 So then, let, no one, be boasting in men; for, all things, are yours—
Nemo itaque glorietur in hominibus.
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all, are, yours,
Omnia enim vestra sunt, sive Paulus, sive Apollo, sive Cephas, sive mundus, sive vita, sive mors, sive præsentia, sive futura: omnia enim vestra sunt:
23 And, ye, are Christ’s, —and, Christ, is, God’s.
vos autem Christi: Christus autem Dei.
