1 Chronicles 23
1 Now, David, was old, and satisfied with days, —so he made Solomon his son king, over Israel;
Khi đã già yếu vì cao tuổi, Đa-vít lập Sa-lô-môn lên ngôi làm vua nước Ít-ra-ên.
2 and gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests, and the Levites.
Vua triệu tập các lãnh tụ của Ít-ra-ên, cùng các thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi.
3 Now the Levites were numbered, from thirty years old and upwards, —and their number by their polls, of mature men, was thirty-eight thousand.
Tất cả người Lê-vi từ ba mươi tuổi trở lên được 38.000 người.
4 Of these—to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh, were twenty-four thousand, —and officers and judges, six thousand;
Đa-vít nói: “Trong số ấy, 24.000 người chia nhau cai quản công việc trong Đền Tạm của Chúa Hằng Hữu, 6.000 làm quan chức và phán quan,
5 and four thousand, were doorkeepers, —and, four thousand, were offerers of praise unto Yahweh, with instruments, which [said David] I made for offering praise.
4.000 giữ việc gác cổng, và 4.000 ca ngợi Chúa Hằng Hữu với các nhạc khí mà ta đã chế tạo để dùng vào việc thờ phượng.”
6 And David divided them into courses, —pertaining to the sons of Levi, to Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
Đa-vít chia người Lê-vi làm ba, theo tên ba con trai của Lê-vi—Ghẹt-sôn, Kê-hát, và Mê-ra-ri.
7 Of the Gershonites, Ladan and Shimei.
Dòng Ghẹt-sôn chia làm hai nhóm mang tên La-ê-đan và Si-mê-i, con của Ghẹt-sôn.
8 The sons of Ladan, the chief Jehiel, and Zetham and Joel, three.
Ba hậu tự của La-ê-đan là Giê-hi-ên (trưởng gia tộc), Xê-tham, Giô-ên.
9 The sons of Shimei, Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three, —these, were the ancestral chiefs of Ladan.
Đó là những trưởng tộc của La-ê-đan. Ba hậu tự của Si-mê-i là Sê-lô-mít, Ha-xi-ên, và Ha-ran.
10 And, the sons of Shimei, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah, —these, were the sons of Shimei, four.
Bốn hậu tự khác của Si-mê-i: Gia-hát, Xi-xa, Giê-úc, và Bê-ri-a.
11 And Jahath was chief, and Zizah the second, —but, Jeush and Beriah, had not many sons, so they became an ancestral house, by one reckoning.
Gia-hát làm trưởng tộc; kế đến là Xi-xa. Riêng Giê-úc và Bê-ri-a ít con cháu nên trong sổ bộ hai gia đình được kể là một.
12 The sons of Kohath, Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
Con trai Kê-hát là Am-ram, Dít-sê-ha, Hếp-rôn, và U-xi-ên.
13 The sons of Amram, Aaron and Moses, —and Aaron was separated, to hallow the holy of holies, he and his sons, unto times age-abiding, to make a perfume before Yahweh, to be in attendance upon him, and to bless in his name, unto times age-abiding;
Con trai Am-ram là A-rôn và Môi-se. A-rôn và dòng dõi được biệt riêng ra cho Chúa Hằng Hữu để sử dụng các vật chí thánh và vĩnh viễn dâng hương, phục vụ Chúa Hằng Hữu và nhân danh Ngài mà chúc phước lành cho dân.
14 and, as for Moses, the man of God, his sons, were called unto the tribe of Levi.
Trong khi đó, các con trai của Môi-se, người của Đức Chúa Trời, đều được liệt kê trong sổ bộ đại tộc Lê-vi.
15 The sons of Moses, were Gershom, and Eliezer.
Hai con trai của Môi-se là Ghẹt-sôn và Ê-li-ê-se.
16 the sons of Gershom, were Shebuel the chief;
Con trai của Ghẹt-sôn là Sê-bu-ên, trưởng tộc.
17 and the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief, —and Eliezer had no other sons, but, the sons of Rehabiah, were very many.
Con trai độc nhất của Ê-li-ê-se là Rê-ha-bia, trưởng tộc, nhưng Rê-ha-bia lại sinh rất nhiều con.
18 The sons of Izhar, Shelomith the chief.
Con trai của Kê-hát là Sê-lô-mít, trưởng tộc.
19 The sons of Hebron, Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jehaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
Con trai của Hếp-rôn là Giê-ri-gia (trưởng tộc), A-ma-ria (thứ hai), Gia-ha-xi-ên (thứ ba), và Giê-ca-mê-am (thứ tư).
20 The sons of Uzziel, Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
Con trai của U-xi-ên là Mi-ca (trưởng tộc) và Di-si-gia (thứ hai).
21 The sons of Merari, were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli, were Eleazar and Kish.
Con trai của Mê-ra-ri là Mách-li và Mu-si. Con trai của Mác-li là Ê-lê-a-sa và Kích.
22 But Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only, —and so the sons of Kish their brethren took them.
Ê-lê-a-sa không có con trai, chỉ có con gái. Các cô này kết hôn với các con trai của Kích.
23 The sons of Mushi, were Mahli and Eder and Jeremoth, three.
Ba con trai của Mu-si là Mách-li, Ê-đe, và Giê-rê-mốt.
24 These, were the sons of Levi by their ancestral house, the ancestral chiefs of them who were counted in the number of their names, by their polls, doing the work, for the service of the house of Yahweh, —from twenty years old, and upwards.
Dòng họ Lê-vi chia từng tộc do các trưởng tộc cầm đầu. Mọi người từ hai mươi tuổi trở lên đều phục vụ trong nhà của Chúa Hằng Hữu.
25 For, said David, Yahweh the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, —and hath taken up his habitation in Jerusalem, unto times age-abiding;
Đa-vít nhận định: “Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên đã cho dân Ngài hưởng thái bình, còn Ngài ngự tại Giê-ru-sa-lem mãi mãi.
26 moreover also, as for the Levites, they have no need to bear the habitation, nor any of its vessels in the laborious work thereof.
Như thế, người Lê-vi không cần khuân vác Đền Tạm và các dụng cụ trong đền nữa.”
27 For, by the last words of David, the same, were the number of the sons of Levi, —from twenty years old, and upwards.
Người ta kiểm kê dân số người Lê-vi từ hai mươi tuổi trở lên đúng theo lệnh Đa-vít ban hành trước khi qua đời.
28 For, their duty, was—to be in attendance upon the sons of Aaron, in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of everything holy, —and doing the laborious work, of the house of God;
Nhiệm vụ người Lê-vi là phục vụ trong nhà của Chúa Hằng Hữu bên cạnh các thầy tế lễ, dòng A-rôn, canh gác hành lang và phòng ốc trong nhà của Chúa Hằng Hữu, lau chùi các dụng cụ thánh cho sạch sẽ, coi sóc các công tác trong nhà của Đức Chúa Trời.
29 and for the bread set in array, and for the fine meal for the meal-offering, and for the unleavened cakes, even for that which is baked in a pan, for the moistened food, —even of every measure, and size;
Họ chuẩn bị bánh thánh, bột mịn tế lễ chay, bánh không men, các thức lễ vật nướng trên vỉ, các hương liệu để pha với dầu tế và các dụng cụ đo lường.
30 and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks and offer praise unto Yahweh, —and, likewise, at even;
Mỗi ngày hai lần, họ phải đứng trước Chúa Hằng Hữu để cảm tạ và ca ngợi.
31 and for all the offering of ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, —by number, according to the manner prescribed for them continually, before Yahweh; —
Còn ngày Sa-bát, ngày đầu tháng và các ngày lễ lớn, họ phải phụ giúp việc dâng tế lễ thiêu liên tục trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, đúng theo luật lệ.
32 and they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, —in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh.
Họ cũng chịu trách nhiệm giữ an ninh trật tự tại Đền Tạm và Đền Thờ cùng phụ giúp các thầy tế lễ phục vụ trong nhà của Chúa Hằng Hữu.
