1 Chronicles 23
1 Now, David, was old, and satisfied with days, —so he made Solomon his son king, over Israel;
Da David var blevet gammel og mæt af Dage, gjorde han sin Søn Salomo til Konge over Israel.
2 and gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests, and the Levites.
Han samlede alle Israels Øverster og Præsterne og Leviterne.
3 Now the Levites were numbered, from thirty years old and upwards, —and their number by their polls, of mature men, was thirty-eight thousand.
Og Leviterne blev talt fra Trediveaarsalderen og opefter, og deres Tal udgjorde, Hoved for Hoved, Mand for Mand, 38 000.
4 Of these—to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh, were twenty-four thousand, —and officers and judges, six thousand;
»Af dem, « sagde han, »skal 24 000 forestaa Arbejdet ved HERRENS Hus, 6000 være Tilsynsmænd og Dommere,
5 and four thousand, were doorkeepers, —and, four thousand, were offerers of praise unto Yahweh, with instruments, which [said David] I made for offering praise.
4000 være Dørvogtere og 4000 love HERREN med de Instrumenter, jeg har ladet lave til Lovsangen.«
6 And David divided them into courses, —pertaining to the sons of Levi, to Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
Og David inddelte dem i Skifter efter Levis Sønner Gerson, Kehat og Merari.
7 Of the Gershonites, Ladan and Shimei.
Til Gersoniterne hørte: Ladan og Sjim'i;
8 The sons of Ladan, the chief Jehiel, and Zetham and Joel, three.
Ladans Sønner: Jehiel, som var Overhoved, Zetam og Joel, tre;
9 The sons of Shimei, Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three, —these, were the ancestral chiefs of Ladan.
Sjim'is Sønner: Sjelomit, Haziel og Haran, tre. De var Overhoveder for Ladans Fædrenehuse.
10 And, the sons of Shimei, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah, —these, were the sons of Shimei, four.
Sjim'is Sønner: Jahat, Ziza, Je'usj og Beri'a. Disse fire var Sjim'is Sønner.
11 And Jahath was chief, and Zizah the second, —but, Jeush and Beriah, had not many sons, so they became an ancestral house, by one reckoning.
Jahat var Overhoved og Ziza den næste; Je'usj og Beri'a havde ikke mange Sønner og regnedes derfor for eet Fædrenehus, eet Embedsskifte.
12 The sons of Kohath, Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
Kehatiterne: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron og Uzziel, fire;
13 The sons of Amram, Aaron and Moses, —and Aaron was separated, to hallow the holy of holies, he and his sons, unto times age-abiding, to make a perfume before Yahweh, to be in attendance upon him, and to bless in his name, unto times age-abiding;
Amrams Sønner: Aron og Moses. Aron udskiltes sammen med sine Sønner til at helliges som højhellig til evig Tid, til at tænde Offerild for HERRENS Aasyn, til at tjene ham og velsigne i hans Navn til evig Tid.
14 and, as for Moses, the man of God, his sons, were called unto the tribe of Levi.
Den Guds Mand Moses's Sønner regnedes derimod til Levis Stamme.
15 The sons of Moses, were Gershom, and Eliezer.
Moses's Sønner: Gersom og Eliezer;
16 the sons of Gershom, were Shebuel the chief;
Gersoms Sønner; Sjubael, som var Overhoved;
17 and the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief, —and Eliezer had no other sons, but, the sons of Rehabiah, were very many.
Eliezers Sønner: Rehabja, som var Overhoved; andre Sønner havde Eliezer ikke, men Rehabjas Sønner var overmaade talrige.
18 The sons of Izhar, Shelomith the chief.
Jizhars Sønner: Sjelomit, som var Overhoved.
19 The sons of Hebron, Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jehaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
Hebrons Sønner: Jerija, som var Overhoved, Amarja den anden, Uzziel den tredje, Jekam'am den fjerde.
20 The sons of Uzziel, Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
Uzziels Sønner: Mika, som var Overhoved, og Jissjija den anden.
21 The sons of Merari, were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli, were Eleazar and Kish.
Merariterne var: Mali og Musji. Malis Sønner: El'azar og Kisj.
22 But Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only, —and so the sons of Kish their brethren took them.
El'azar efterlod sig ved sin Død ingen Sønner, men kun Døtre, som deres Brødre, Kisj's Sønner, ægtede.
23 The sons of Mushi, were Mahli and Eder and Jeremoth, three.
Musjis Sønner: Mali, Eder og Jeremot, tre.
24 These, were the sons of Levi by their ancestral house, the ancestral chiefs of them who were counted in the number of their names, by their polls, doing the work, for the service of the house of Yahweh, —from twenty years old, and upwards.
Det var Levis Sønner efter deres Fædrenehuse, Overhovederne for Fædrenehusene, de, som mønstredes ved Optælling af Navnene, Hoved for Hoved, de, som udførte Arbejdet ved Tjenesten i HERRENS Hus, fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter.
25 For, said David, Yahweh the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, —and hath taken up his habitation in Jerusalem, unto times age-abiding;
Thi David tænkte: »HERREN, Israels Gud, har skaffet sit Folk Ro og taget Bolig i Jerusalem for evigt;
26 moreover also, as for the Levites, they have no need to bear the habitation, nor any of its vessels in the laborious work thereof.
derfor behøver Leviterne heller ikke mere at bære Boligen og alle de Ting, som hører til dens Tjeneste.«
27 For, by the last words of David, the same, were the number of the sons of Levi, —from twenty years old, and upwards.
(Ifølge Davids sidste Forordninger regnes Tallet paa Leviterne fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter).
28 For, their duty, was—to be in attendance upon the sons of Aaron, in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of everything holy, —and doing the laborious work, of the house of God;
Men deres Plads er ved Arons Sønners Side, for at de kan udføre Tjenesten i HERRENS Hus; de skal tage sig af Forgaardene, Kamrene, Renholdelsen af alle de hellige Ting og Arbejdet, der skal udføres i Guds Hus;
29 and for the bread set in array, and for the fine meal for the meal-offering, and for the unleavened cakes, even for that which is baked in a pan, for the moistened food, —even of every measure, and size;
de skal sørge for Skuebrødene, Melet til Afgrødeofrene, de usyrede Fladbrød, Panden, Dejgen og alle Rum— og Længdemaal;
30 and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks and offer praise unto Yahweh, —and, likewise, at even;
hver Morgen skal de staa og love og prise HERREN, ligesaa om Aftenen,
31 and for all the offering of ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, —by number, according to the manner prescribed for them continually, before Yahweh; —
og hver Gang der ofres Brændofre til HERREN paa Sabbaterne, Nymaanedagene og Højtiderne; i det fastsatte Antal efter den for dem gældende Forskrift skal de altid staa for HERRENS Aasyn.
32 and they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, —in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh.
Saaledes skal de tage Vare paa, hvad der er at varetage ved Aabenbaringsteltet og ved det hellige og hjælpe deres Brødre, Arons Sønner, med Tjenesten i HERRENS Hus.
