1 Chronicles 15
1 And he made him houses, in the city of David, —and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David se fit des maisons dans la cité de David; il prépara un emplacement pour l'arche de Dieu et dressa une tente pour elle.
2 Then, said David, None must carry the ark of God, save the Levites, —for, of them, did Yahweh make choice, to bear the ark of Yahweh, and to attend it, unto times age-abiding.
David dit alors: « Personne ne doit porter l'arche de Dieu, sinon les Lévites. Car Yahvé les a choisis pour porter l'arche de Dieu et pour le servir à jamais. »
3 So David convoked all Israel, unto Jerusalem, —to bring up the ark of Yahweh, unto the place thereof, which he had prepared for it.
David rassembla tout Israël à Jérusalem, pour faire monter l'arche de l'Éternel à la place qu'il lui avait préparée.
4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites:
David rassembla les fils d'Aaron et les Lévites:
5 Of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brethren, one hundred and twenty;
des fils de Kehath, Uriel le chef, et ses frères, cent vingt;
6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brethren, two hundred and twenty;
des fils de Merari, Asaja le chef, et ses frères, deux cent vingt;
7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brethren, one hundred and thirty;
des fils de Guershom, Joël le chef, et ses frères, cent trente;
8 of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren, two hundred;
des fils d'Elizaphan, Schemaeja, le chef, et ses frères, deux cents;
9 of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brethren, eighty;
des fils d'Hébron, Éliel, le chef, et ses frères, quatre-vingts;
10 of the son of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and twelve.

11 Then called David, for Zadok and for Abiathar, the priests, —and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah and Joel, Shemaiah and Eliel, and Amminadab;
David appela les prêtres Tsadok et Abiathar, et les Lévites: Uriel, Asaja, Joël, Schemaeja, Éliel et Amminadab,
12 and said unto them, Ye, are the chiefs of the fathers of the Levites, —Hallow yourselves, ye and your brethren, so shall ye bring up the ark of Yahweh—God of Israel, into [the place] I have prepared for it.
et leur dit: « Vous êtes les chefs de famille des Lévites. Sanctifiez-vous, vous et vos frères, afin que vous puissiez porter l'arche de Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, jusqu'au lieu que j'ai préparé pour elle.
13 Because, at the first, ye, did not [bring it], Yahweh our God brake forth against us, because we sought him not in the appointed way.
Car, parce que vous ne l'avez pas portée d'abord, Yahvé notre Dieu s'est mis en colère contre nous, parce que nous ne l'avons pas cherché selon l'ordonnance. »
14 So the priests and the Levites hallowed themselves, —to bring up the ark of Yahweh, God of Israel.
Ainsi, les prêtres et les lévites se sanctifièrent pour faire monter l'arche de l'Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël.
15 And the sons of the Levites bare the ark of God, just as Moses commanded, according to the word of Yahweh, —on their shoulder, with the staves upon them.
Les fils des lévites portèrent l'arche de Dieu sur leurs épaules avec ses barres, comme Moïse l'avait ordonné, selon la parole de l'Éternel.
16 And David spake to the chiefs of the Levites, to station their brethren the singers, with instruments of song, harps and lyres, and cymbals, —sounding aloud at the lifting up of the voice, for joy.
David dit au chef des Lévites de désigner leurs frères comme chanteurs avec des instruments de musique, des instruments à cordes, des harpes et des cymbales, pour qu'ils sonnent à haute voix et élèvent la voix avec joie.
17 So the Levites caused to stand, Heman son of Joel, and, of his brethren, Asaph, son of Berechiah, —and, of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan, son of Kushaiah;
Les Lévites nommèrent Héman, fils de Joël, et, parmi ses frères, Asaph, fils de Bérékia, et parmi les fils de Merari, leurs frères, Ethan, fils de Kushaïa,
18 and, with them, their brethren of the second degree, —Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mickneiah, and Obed-edom and Jeiel, the door-keepers.
et avec eux leurs frères de second rang: Zacharie, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaja, Maaséja, Mattithia, Eliphelehu, Miknéja, Obed-Edom et Jeiel, les portiers.
19 And, the singers, Heman, Asaph and Ethan, with cymbals of bronze, were to sound aloud;
Les chantres, Héman, Asaph et Éthan, reçurent des cymbales d'airain pour sonner à haute voix;
20 and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah and Benaiah, —with harps, over the trebles;
Zacharie, Aziel, Schemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Éliab, Maaséja et Benaja, avec des instruments à cordes accordés sur Alamoth;
21 and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel and Azaziah, —with lyres over the bass, to take the lead.
et Mattithia, Élipheléhu, Miknéja, Obed-Édom, Jeiel et Azazia, avec des harpes accordées sur la lyre à huit cordes, pour diriger.
22 And, Chenaniah the leader of the Levites, in the service, used to give instructions in the service, because skilful was he.
Chenania, chef des lévites, dirigeait les chants. Il enseignait les chanteurs, car il était habile.
23 And, Berechiah and Elkanah, were door-keepers to the ark.
Bérékia et Elkana étaient portiers de l'arche.
24 And, Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, were blowing with the trumpets, before the ark of God, —and, Obed-edom and Jehiah, were door-keepers, to the ark.
Les prêtres, Schebania, Josaphat, Nethaneel, Amasaï, Zacharie, Benaja et Eliezer, sonnaient des trompettes devant l'arche de Dieu; Obed-Edom et Jehia étaient portiers de l'arche.
25 Thus, it was, David and the elders of Israel, and the rulers of thousands, who were going, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, out of the house of Obed-edom, with joy.
David, les anciens d'Israël et les chefs de milliers allèrent faire monter l'arche de l'alliance de l'Yahvé de la maison d'Obed-Edom avec joie.
26 And so it was that, when God helped the Levites, who were bearing the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.
Lorsque Dieu aida les Lévites qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé, ils sacrifièrent sept taureaux et sept béliers.
27 Now, David, was wrapped about with a robe of byssus, with all the Levites who were bearing the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the leader of the service rendered by the singers, —but, upon David, was an ephod of white linen.
David était revêtu d'une robe de fin lin, ainsi que tous les Lévites qui portaient l'arche, les chantres, et Chenania, le chef de chœur, avec les chantres; et David avait sur lui un éphod de lin.
28 So, all Israel, were bringing up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, with shouting, and with sound of the horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, —sounding aloud, with harps, and lyres.
Tout Israël fit monter l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé en poussant des cris de joie, au son de la cornemuse, des trompettes et des cymbales, et en faisant retentir à haute voix les instruments à cordes et les harpes.
29 And so it was that, when the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came in as far as the city of David, —and Michal daughter of Saul looked forth through the window, and saw King David, dancing and playing, that she despised him in her heart.
Comme l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé arrivait à la ville de David, Mical, fille de Saül, regarda par la fenêtre et vit le roi David danser et jouer; elle le méprisa dans son cœur.
